Food ideas

  • Right!

Weight/Inch tracker all sorted and ready to go so all I need to do is get my food sorted.

So I'm getting back on the GL track.

I know I find it hard to think of a varied list of things to eat. So I thought I'd start a thread and see if anyone wants to swap food ideas - any diet!

My favourite dinner at the moment is a newish wrinkle on an old fave:

    Sausages and peppers - simplified

Feeds 2, tastes better on day 2
    1 onion, chopped
    3 peppers, red and yellow
1 tin of chopped toms, any flavouring is OK
4 sausages - usual sensible choices requires

    Oven on 170 ish.

Put all ingredients into an oven proof dish and bung in the oven for at least an hour - until the peppers have gone all mushy - keep turning the sausages, bury them in the mix if they look a bit OTT.

Tastes really good, even if it does sound a bit odd!
  • That doesn't sound odd at all! I was actually planning to make this exact recipe for tomorrows dinner but with added spring greens and some paprika! I just bought the sausages today - what a coincidence! I haven't had it before, so I'm glad it's good

Good idea for a thread, I will post some recipes when I have more time
  • steak and garlicky green beans!

    olive oil
    2 garlic cloves , sliced
    1 tin plum tomatoes
    4 cloves
    150g green beans
2 sirloin steaks , all fat trimmed off
    2 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a pan. Add the garlic and sizzle for 2 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cloves and simmer for about 10 minutes until thickened. Fish out the cloves then add the beans with a splash of water and cook for 3-4 minutes until just tender.

Heat a frying pan until it's smoking hot. Season the steaks well then sear for 1 minute on each side. Add the balsamic to the pan and cook for another 30 seconds on each side. (or longer!) Rest for 3-4 minutes. Pile up the beans and sauce on two plates. Thickly slice the steak and put on top of the beans.
