Move More - what do you do ??
Now BB is behind us for another year - I feel the need to get my butt in gear and get moving.:sheep:
I had great plans for when BB3 started that I would pedal my exercise bike in front of the telly while watching. Instead all I did was snack and watch the TV. So in an aim to be healthly and fitter I have to get on my bike and get my butt into gear.:strong: I used to plan my exercise like a military campaign and it worked for me, but like most good things it has fell by the wayside. I know I need to get back to the planning side of my weight loss it won't happen by itself What happened to all you rebounders, walkers and swimmers out there ?? :cb: Fitting some exercise in is an achievement :cp: towards the healthly lifestyle we all want, so tell us what you do to keep fit - Believe me I need the inspiration:cp::cp::cp::cp: |
moving
have to say carol i have been slacking in more ways than one!! I go on holiday tomorrow and when i get back i will once again be joining you all in a major way. The last 2 weeks have been a bit of an eating and drinking fest for me, good as it has been the trousers i wore last night were very tight and they weren't a couple of weeks ago!!
we are taking our bikes to france so i hope to be doing lots of cycling/swimming and walking to compensate for the eating/drinking and lounging :s: swim and gym are in for me when i get back!! promise ;) |
I walked from the beach the other day (60 mins) I used to be able to do it but this time the next day my back kept complaining and later on that night I was sick about 6 times seriously!
|
Not so good - take it easy veggie we don't want you hurting yourself
Am going to walk lots this week |
So is nobody doing any exercise at the moment - I know Ali goes to the gym, what about everybody else??
My plan for this week is to exercise everyday for 30 minutes. I am going to walk on at least 4 of these days and try some simple areobics on the others. Time to dust off those exercise videos. |
I walk the dog every day for 20 minutes but am planning to increase this by 5 minutes per week. I am also going to return to using my rebounder (remember them girls???!!!) and to doing one of my exercise videos at least twice a week initially.
Tracy |
Didn't manage my walk tonight - am slipping already. Will need to ensure that I make time for me tomorrow night
|
Its a bit warm to be rebounding at the minute, may do that more when the weather cools down a little.
I have already posted that I have started Aqua Fit classes. I am finding it very good, you don't get hot and sweaty as in floor aerobics and neither do you feel like you are having a heart attack ;-) I went twice last week and aim to do 3 sessions this week, add this to my badminton, it means that there is only one day when I am not active. Doing something like this, I find puts you in the right mood for food. There is more chance of you being more active in general, WANTNG TO DO HOUSEWORK (not that can't be right!!) seriously I have felt much better, I have more get up and go and I can manage my food better. I looking for results here. Jano |
This sounds like a good thing, a friend of mine does it and says it's great, www.curvesforwomen.com

Have hurt my foot so I'm not moving very much at all !!!!
About 6 years ago I broke my foot across my toes - just like David Beckham only I wasn't in all the papers. By the time I realised it was broken - it wasn't that sore, just uncomfortable and it kept swelling all the time - it had started to heal by itself. But I was warned it would always be weak. A couple of weeks ago I twisted my foot and it has never recovered !!! so now the swelling is starting again and it is uncomfortable again, but I am scared to go to the doctors as they have threatened to break it and set it properly - i know in my heart this is what I have to do or at least get it checked out, but I am a chicken. So the bottom line is I am too much pain to exercise - do you need a note from my mum before you let me off with it ? |
Have done a lot of thinking about the foot. It has given me trouble in the past when I am stressed out and I am that and more at the moment. So if I lose the stress and some weight it will probably get a lot better. But in the meantime I'll call the doctor tomorrow.
Am going to try for a short walk this afternoon, in a pair of flat trainers and with taking it lightly I should be able to walk for 30 minutes. Will need to stay near the house incase my foot has other ideas though ????? |
Went for 2 hour walk yesterday 6pm till 8pm totally done in could hardly walk afterwards my bruv made a curry though when we got home so not all bad!
|
Well done - am jealous it is raining now so my promised walk may not happen - will dissolve if I walk in the rain
|
|
Foot a bit better today - Feel I may be back to some serious walking and exercising if I keep resting it
|
Went to a new doc today, I am beginning to feel like a hypocondriact (sp.?) This is still about my shoulder injury from May. No bone damage so now I have to have a MRI. So no trampolining for me as I'm not allowed to jar anything. Have been swimming in the sea every thursday afternoon after work though, does that count as some excersise?
|
It all counts! Swimming in the sea the very thought! Hope yours is cleaner than here.

Swimming in the sea is great fun - especialyl if you are somewhere hot and sunny like the Aegean.
Is it nice where you are Chris my geography is rubbish ? Foot definately on the mend - will soon be able to start some light walks Well done Veggie - two days in a row - am jealous |
Hi all, glad to hear my swimming in the sea is good :) The beach is about a 45 minute drive away from here for me, and it's a nice sandy beach and actually private belonging to the military so it's free too. All other NJ beaches cost you to go on them, some up to six bucks a person!
The water here is quite nice and clear anad a bluey green colour, not like the lovely deep blue of the med but nice enough, it certainly isn't brown and murky like the wash which is where I used to swim growing up:dizzy: I am going to a friends house tomorrow and she has a nice deep diving pool so maybe I'll do some laps there, and a belly flop or two :o At least I know that swimming can't hurt the shoulder...I have an appointment now for a MRI this Friday, not looking forward to it as those machines remind me of cofins all closed in, and I'm not ready for one of those yet thanks, too much good living to do! :D Right, I had better think about getting something out the freezer for dinner..have a great evening everyone. Oh yes, Carol, for your geography, I am about an hours drive south of New York City if that helps you at all. My geography is bad too.....I have no sense of direction or counrty placements :p |
Soprano land isn't it?
|
Private beach I WANT ONE!
|
Hi all
Well I for one have definitely been missing from this thread and the boards in general. However enough is enough - the mirrors in every changing room along Oxford Street provided the evidence in all its multi coloured glory and I am not a happy bunny. I need to do something about it and NOW! I recently joined Holmes Place and have been going fairly regularly. I do a couple of aqua classes and a week and the gym about 2 times - like Veggie though I have done two days exercise in a row - I was outside the gym at 06:55 yesterday and today :smug: Is it thirty days before something becomes a habit? No reason for the smilie - just liked the look of it :flame: |
Mmm oxford street haven't been there for AGES :(
|
Yep, soprano land it is Veg....Oxford Street, I've not been there for years, bought my last leather jacket there...doesn't fit this fat body anymore though.......haha! Love the flowers BPB>
|
:dancer: I did it! I Tae-Bo'ed 28 minutes and am off for a shower now cos am rather sweaty. I am proud of me. Hannah even joined in and said Billy was trying to kill us..hehe!:hot:
|
I still haven't done anything other than walk, back to school on 2nd september so watch this space!!
|
My walking has gone by the by at the moment. Ray is working 12 hours, 7 days a week for the next 3 weeks. He's not in until after 9 at night so I guess it' sback to those exercise videos
|
I managed ten mins on the trampoline this morning. Think I over-did it with the Tae-Bo yesterday, back aching this morn so I stuck to jumping, but something is better than nothing right?
|
Am going to find something to pedal the exercise bike to later - I am I am I am
|
Not content with walking around the shops all day, i have just come back from an evening stroll in the summer sunshine, i think i am working my way back to my exercise routine, I know its a surefire way of shedding those ugly lbs of flab!!
|
My exercise bike is broken. It no longer pedals. What use is an exercise bike that doesn't pedal - not a lot !! It has gone into the garage so that when Ray has an hour or so to spare - probably about October - he can have a look at it for me.
Throws my exercise plan completely - now it's the videos or nothing |
Just noticed that the online status thingy is not there?
I've been skimming posts - seem to have no time on my hands right now, but Sal what happened to your lunchtime walks or are you really busy at work? Off to the gym this morning - hubby things I have become an addict, but I have a wedding to go to on Saturday and the outfit is snug! Have bought a backup outfit just in case, but am a woman on a mission. Will not try on what I want to wear until Friday - that way if it doesn't fit, I will only have one day of comfort/distress over dress not fitting eating! |
The lunchtime walks are out at the moment while I'm in Glasgow. Work just carries on in to the canteen. But I will be back in either Stirling or Bellshill come October so they will start again then.
Trying to walk round Rays shifts at home is impossible, he leaves at 6:45 and at the moment isn't in before 9pm - a long day |
You have my sympathy carol, rays hours are the same as daves. I am hoping I can find a way around things cos in the winter I know i won't want to go out in the dark/cold to the gym/pool etc.
|
This is the 2nd thread I've posted to - I'm getting the hang of it now!
I've recently started back to aerobics for the first time since before I was pregnant with my 3 year old daughter, & I can't believe how great I felt! I'd really missed exercising. Unfortunately the instructor's on holiday at the moment; in fact, I must check up on when class starts back, because i want to be there! Also, I was inspired by a friend who learnt to swim this year at the age of 38, & I went out & learned to ride a bike at nearly 30! I LOVE it, so I don't notice that I'm exercising at all, but unfortunately I haven't had chance to go for a ride in a few weeks because I was running around organising my daughter's birthday party - I hope to get a chance to go really soon. |
Have any of you lot tried water aerobics? I think there was a thread about it somewhere here but need to look a bit more.......
|
Ok, if I'm stupid, someone please tell me.....I take it Aqua Fit classes are the same as Water Aerobics? Yes? Please put me out of my misery. I'm off to do some trampolining before another re-run of Changing Rooms comes on BBC America....I'm getting back on that wagon :)
|
It was Jano on about water aerobics if I remember right.
