Biggest Loser UK
Hi everyone,
I see a new season of the UK version of the Biggest Loser is kicking off this Monday. It's being aired at 4pm this Monday on ITV1. It's a bit of a strange time to show it, in my opinion. Kate Garraway is hosting. Anyone planning to tune in? The last time I watched it, Jodie Prenger took the title and she has since gone on to star as Nancy in Oliver! in the West End. She has done really well! |
I wonder if they'll show it over here? I've seen a couple of the UK ones on here, although, after the fact...just like the audionts for Joseph are on now...LOL...the US one is nearly finished, only two more weeks to go and those people are such an inspiration..some are still heavy because they came in at three hundred and four hundred pounds, and the things they can do now, is amazing.
|
oh brilliant I love this show - the American version is brilliant too! I must remember to tune in:D
|
I've set the timer for it. :)
|
I love watching this programme, but Im not sure how well ITV will do it.
Regarding Jodie though, I was gob smacked when she came back at the final. She was just so stunning. I actually kept the recording and showed my mum who doesn't watch it, just to show her the transformation. I couldn't believe it. |
I've set it to record although I've never really been that keen on UK versions of US shows. On the plus side they will most likely weigh the contestants in stones so I won't need the convert function on my phone to figure out how much everyone weighs!!
|
Does seem like a strange time to show it but never the less I will either record it or try to get home early to watch it. Biggest Loser Australia is favorite out of all the biggest losers.
Whenever I watch a biggest loser show it gives me the extra boost to workout. |
Thanks for the heads up on it! I just set my sky box to record it as I shall be in the gym when it is on! Hope everyone is having a good day
xx |
I like the Australian version too.
I have read the host A.J Rochester's books and I think they are brilliant - very inspiring! I always go back to them when I need a boost! |
Biggest Loser Australia is starting next Monday (4th May). I saw an ad for it earlier. It's on at 8:30pm on Sky Real Lives.
The only bad thing is it looks like the series they have already shown over here as some of the people looked familiar. |
Well I'm going to able to watch it, since i'm off work for two weeks. I remember watching when Jodie lost all that weight. Like myself who must be stone heavier than my ticker it's clear that low weight was too difficult for her to sustain.
I've been to the gym today in actual fact. Trying to get myself back on track as I havent had the best of months in anyway. Hey Chris good to see you how is your weightloss journey going these days? Take good care everyone Michele |
I watched this today and was in tears. I was particularly moved by the young people who were only 21, 22 years old and are carrying so much excess weight around. I really hope the show helps them.
It made me cry as I think it reminded me how far I have come but also how far I have yet to go. Anyway, it has given me a much needed kick up the rear - I'm getting the trainers on and off to an aerobics class tonight! |
Biggest Loser had me and my friend is tears as well :( My heart went out to her and all of them but they are on a journey that will hopefully change their lives forever. Glad to see the biggest loser will be on everyday this week. 40 episode in total according to the tv guide :carrot:
I was a little shocked by the father and son team considering they have seen first hand the damage smoking has done to their wife/mother but yet they smoke 40 a day. I'm a smoker myself (horrible habit) but I find that when I get into a workout routine and exercise daily I don't crave nicotine and hardly smoke. |
I hadn't realised until the end of the programme it was going to be on every day. That's good - although I will need to see most of the episodes on catch-up due to the timings.
My heart really went out to Katey and to Lisa Marie and the young boy (the smoker). They are so young and so desperate to change. The smoking family really made me think how heartbreaking it was that these people cared so little about themselves that they would systematically do so much damage in so many ways to their bodies. It definitely inspired me back into action - I ended up doing two aerobics classes last night. It was like a bit of a warning - if you don't continue to tackle this, that's what you might end up going back to - all that pain and unhappiness. |
I watched it also, as off sick atm stupid sinus infection! I thought Eunice was awesome so determined it made me really motivated to go for it, if those people can do so can we? after all they are just like us! I think Katey is gonna do really well though she seems so unhappy.

I forgot this was on again. Manage to get caught up today. It looks like its going to be a good season.
I was sad to see the two that need it the most are up for elimination. It will be a hard decision to make. I've fallen off the wagon AGAIN and hope that this will motivate me to keep trying. |

Michelle, I'm good, thanks...as for weightloss..nothing, cos I've not been trying at all...I need to get back on track...we just moved again though, so I'm in the house alone all day, even Pen and Lew get fed up with me yapping on to them...:D I so need a job and then once I'm in a routine I know I can shed some of this lard...well done on getting to the gym yourself though :) And.. where's our Veggie? |
I'm the same Chris  just no motivation at all :( and I desperately need to do something as i'm the heaviest i've ever been  and hardly anything fits!! I bought a wii game console last week in the hopes that doing something fun would at least get me up off the couch  Whereabouts in Vegas do you live? are you far from the Strip? Its great seeing that you are still here :D
|
About 15 miles the long way round, from the strip...nice to see you pop back in Cat...get on that wii...Hannah says we need one...I'll have to look and see...
|
Yes where is that veggie. How exciting living in Vegas.

Just caught up with the episodes from Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Love it!
I have to say I much prefer Richard's style to Angie's although both are getting results. He just seems to make more use of positive encouragement!!! Angie is so tough on them but I guess it's needed. It's a big shame that the two who are definitely most in need of BL are up for elimination. I hope whoever goes continues to get support once they leave. |
I've been watching this on itv.com in between revising for my exams and I'm enjoying it so far!
I feel its far too long a show -there's too much fluff in between and I think they could have easily cut it down to a half-hour show without losing any of the content. Was gutted to see Raz & Lisa go (which is where I'm at on the catch-up) but am definitely rooting for Katey and Carol all the way! Don't like Michaela and Maria but tbh I don't see them going very far. I think if I was there I'd rather have Angie training me than Richard. I need my ass kicking and she trained Jodie in the last season. Also love the kettlebells - I have a couple at home and they are miracle workers! |
That's interesting to hear Georgia - I have never used kettlebells but Angie seems to really believe in them so I was considering them as an option. Good to hear they have worked for you.
I don't think Michaela tries too hard - Maria seems more committed to her goals. I hope Dave and Jamie do well - Jamie really needs it. Katey is a bit too lazy and dependent on her mother for my liking. I also like Eunice - thinks she's the dark horse! |
Just in case you were curious Miss Vitality - Argos sells Kettlebells pretty cheap and they are sooo good!
I went in a few weeks ago to buy a step, and saw them in the catalogue and just HAD to have them. After watching the episode with the tobogganing challenge today, I think Eunice and Miriam may be the ones to watch. |
I loved the toboganning challnge - made me want to go to Xscape at Braehead and try it out!
I will look into those kettlebells - thank you for the tip! |
I quite fancy Mark. I think he's gorgeous and obviously a really nice bloke. He has such a lovely smile!
Girls will be throwing themselves at him when he comes out. Especially if he does lose more weight and buff up. :) |
I agree - he has a lovely wee twinkle in his eye. Miriam seems to be getting very cosy with him though...
I LOVE Richard - i'd want him to train me any day ;) Jamie is starting to act like a bit of a spoiled kid but I like his dad Dave. Carol is great, just needs to loosen the apron strings a bit with Katey and make her take responsibility for her own life. The pink team make me smile and I think Kevin is a lovely person. Glad Sadie got another crack at the whip. Who do you think will go next? |
I think if the grey's are up then they'll have a good chance of being kicked out. Jamie's driving me mad - no one is that ill all of the time, he passed a medical to get in! If we've picked up on it then the one's in the house definately would.
I agree about Carol and Katey, she mothers her too much. Katey even said that her mum does everything for her. Notice that Katey, Sadie, Jamie and the girl in the red team who's name I can't remember all live at home, despite being in their 20's? Could be part of the problem. The pink girls are amazing!! Would be lovely if Mark and Miriam got together. I'd be incredibly pleased for them! Jealous, obviously, but very pleased!! |
I started watching Biggest Loser Australia when I was there on a Holiday and now that I have Cable I'm trying to Watch that as often as I can.
I love the UK Version although have missed quite a few when i moved and didn't have a TV. I find that programmes like that because they give me inspiration and make me feel like I CAN actually do it!!! :carrot: |
I too think Mark has a twinkle in his eye and a lovely smile, and he seems to have a lovely kind heart. However, I think Jamie's gorgeous and he think he'll be stunning once he's lost all that weight!
Sad to see Miriam in the bottom two this week, really hope she stays! |
Just caught on to this....watched it on catch up today. I am rooting for the pinks - did you see picture of maria in that bikini when she was younger???!
|
I am rooting for the pinks too, because they are the lightest there they are under dogs...but I think they are quite resilient and fun to have around.
|
This programme is my daily dose of mega motivation, after I've watched it I'm always like *yes I can do this* so I'm so glad that Australia's Biggest Loser is also on lol!
As for favourites, I love Kevin! He seems like such a lovely guy and always puts in 100%, I'm so dissappointed that he's on Angie's black team now :( I really didn't like Jamie on last weeks temptation task, Kevin so deserved to get the 10 minutes phonecall! Oh and just a tiny rant - WHY does Jamie ALWAYS give into tempation EVERY week??? It's not fair that he still loses over half a stone each weigh in, and there's poor Miriam n' Sadie working their butts off n' only losing like 1lb!? |
Maria looked stunning in that bikini photo - WOW!
I was sorry to see Miriam leave as I liked her and it would have been nice for Eunice to have had the chance to come back in, but hey ho - that's the way these things go. I think Mark's competitive streak is going to increasingly isolate him from the others which is a shame. Can't believe Jamie has an injury AGAIN!!! |
Has anyone else noticed that apart from Kevin's face, no one else seems to look any slimmer?
|
I'm starting to think that Mark might be a bit of a git. Did you see him smirking when Carol only lost 1 lb? Not sure I fancy him any more.
I too was thinking that they haven't lost that much weight. Especially when you look at the before and afters of previous shows on You Tube. I suppose if we compared pictures of them when they came in to now we'd see a difference. I do think they're all doing well though. I know weight loss may not be huge but they've probably gained muscle too. |
Ooh, they were all just waiting on their chance to get shot of Mark, eh?
I'm starting to notice a difference in some of their weights now, especially around the face. Not warming to Lisa at all - yet! Think Carol is fab. Katey and Jamie both annoy me - they come across as sniffling spoiled kids. Loved that the winner of the 1st series came back to chat to them and how good to see he has maintained his weight loss and turned his life around to now be a personal trainer! |
i am still hooked on this! I am rooting for Sadie now
|
For anyone who wants to find this online it's here.
This UK version is hecka low budget...but I kinda like it this way. I do think they need to show more what these people are eating tho. I'm rooting for Sadie, too! |
I am still rooting for Kev! He's my favourite, although I have really been warming to both Maria and Sadie over the last few weeks :) Still love Carol I think she's ace and did you see her when they did the makeover?? WHAT a difference!! Unfortunately, as much as I love Richard I think the Biggest Loser is on Angie's team. If any of the black team win it I'll be happy, agreeing with MissVitality here, Katie and Jamie annoy me too!!
