Sarah,

Sorry its taken so long to reply - you may already have your rebounder by now but just thought i would let you know that i didn't have to pay P *& P on mine so it was just £10!

Tracy

Sarah Ann 03-12-2002 08:51 AM

I think there must be a world shortage of rebounders, because the bidding for the two that are for sale has gone up to £21 plus P&P!!

I will just have to wait.....!

Jano 03-12-2002 11:31 AM

I just haven't got time to go on mine:(

Delaney 03-13-2002 06:35 AM

YOU GUYS ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THIS......

My video is here - going to be rebounding tonight like a tigger (albeit a fat tigger) YIPPEE, WOHOO, YE-HAA, HURRAH etc, etc...

tupperware queen 03-13-2002 08:06 AM

Way to go melissa, i will bejoining you as soon as I get my curtains up..........no way am i bouncing in front of the neighbours!!:o
My second one still hasn't come :(

Sarah Ann 03-14-2002 05:21 AM

I GOT ONE!! I GOT ONE!!!!

Well.... almost..... its being delivered on Monday. I checked the Argos online website and they have got them in stock (finally) so I ordered one. It worked out cheaper than buying them in the auction on QXL. £17.95 plus £3.95 P&P.

TracyLangford 03-14-2002 05:43 AM

well done Sarah, Your next challenge is to get the tapes!!! I have ordered mine from choices direct and they said they were in stock initially now it has changed to 'on order'

Tracy:?:

Sarah Ann 03-14-2002 06:05 AM

I think I might leave that challenge for a while.... I have managed to 'save' myself quite a lot of money just recently on QXL and eBay!!! Ooops!!!

Its going to be interesting explaining the rebounder... and of course then there's the Stephen King book.... the Star Trek videos.... the exercise video.... and the recipe book ... and.... and....!

I am SUCH a sucker for a bargain!

Sarah Ann 03-16-2002 06:57 AM

YIPPEE!!!! IT ARRIVED!!!!!
(2 DAYS EARLY!!)

OKAY - APART FROM JUST BOUNCING, NOW WHAT DO I DO???????

BOING!!!!!!

flumper 03-16-2002 07:36 AM

Jano 03-16-2002 08:13 AM

Well done Sarah

Glad you have got it at last.

I will try to get the book out to you this week - I still have your address

Just do some aerobic moves, like jacks, spotties, ski moves, just gemerally get your heat going ... it won't take long on a tramp.

BigPhatBooty 03-16-2002 12:32 PM

Sarah Ann

On the urban rebounding video (which is supposed to be for beginners  ) there is one exercise called the delayed jog. Jog as normal, but hold one raised knee in the air (mid motion) for a couple of seconds. Does that make sense almost like you are freezing in the air mid motion. Then jog normal and then do a 16 second intensive fast jog  - jog normal again for about 30 seconds and then an intense jog for 16 seconds. If you can feel it in your bum then you know you are doing it right. When I do the video it's the longest 16 seconds of my life.

As Jano said do jumping jacks. You call also jump in the middle of the rebounding then jump forward, back to the middle and then jump backward (remaining on the rebounder - not the floor). Also hip flexers i.e twisting your hips to the left and right whilst bouncing.

I promise next time I do my video I will pay more attention and write you a more detailed account.

Hope this helps.

tupperware queen 03-17-2002 03:00 AM

Have to confess i havent done the video yet!! But when I go on my mine I put on an eighties cd and imagine I am on the dancefloor.............the curtains are back up so I have no excuse today!!

Sarah Ann 03-17-2002 03:19 AM

Its brilliant! I did just some basic jogging bouncing yesterday and really clocked up some calories - 200 in next to no time compared to walking.

Thanks for the exercises I am printing them out and will practice tomorrow - yippee - today is my day off from exercising thank goodness - really need a break this week.

Jano 03-17-2002 03:35 AM

I told you it was more effective than exercising on the ground!! does your pedometer tell you how many calories you've used up then?

These 200 cals, how much longer would it take to use them up if you were jogging on the ground? What is the equivalent??

Jan

veggie 03-17-2002 05:56 AM

Does a pedometer work bouncing? It would certainly jiggle fast but...

BigPhatBooty 03-17-2002 06:08 AM

New signature Veggie :s:

Sarah Ann 03-17-2002 08:21 AM

I don't know!!! I had my pedometer on when I was jogging on the rebounder because I thought it would measure the movement - I certainly felt like I had burned 200 cals! I can't see why it shouldn't work for jogging on the rebounder as jogging on the ground, the body movement is pretty much the same, there is just a lot less pain.

Janet - everyone burns calories slightly differently depending on what you weigh - for me to burn 200 cals (according to my pedometer) I have to walk for about 20 mins, but I clocked up 200 jogging on the rebounder in less than 10 mins. I don't usually do much jogging on the ground because it sort of jars the lower bone in my legs too much. I haven't done much experimenting yet but I will this week and I will let you know a bit more.

veggie 03-17-2002 08:24 AM

I don't know either just wondering...I like to hold my pedometer in my hand and just shake it alot so it registers loads of cals burned...:o

Jano 03-17-2002 11:26 AM

That's cheating veggie:devil: :smug:

veggie 03-17-2002 11:56 AM

It certainly is!

flumper 03-17-2002 02:14 PM

well if that slim gorgeous woman can shake her tic tacs why cant veggie shake her pedometer

veggie 03-17-2002 02:21 PM

I have abandoned my pedometer it was when I wanted to wear it to the doctors I though it was getting out of hand!

There was a brill article in the guardian yesterday about Shelley Bovey the "fat is not a sin" writer who lost 7 st (btw she looks great now at 13 st) there was a bit about a woman who knew her diet obsession was OTT when she wondered how many cals in a paracetemol!

Sarah Ann 03-18-2002 02:53 AM

OMG - I never thought of that - I've got a cold!!!

Did it say how many there were???

(Only kidding!!)

TracyLangford 03-18-2002 04:00 AM

It Came!!

My Cardio Bounce video has arrived - ordered it from choices direct and it took 10 days to arrive, after hearing some of the stories on here i thought i would be waiting ages!! It only cost £2.54 with free p&p as well!!

Tracy

Sarah Ann 03-18-2002 04:13 AM

Well done, Tracy - let me know if you think it is any good and I will try and track it down! I think I might have to wait another month or two though - today I 'won' a callenetics video........

Smiling Sal 03-18-2002 04:24 AM

I won a callanetics on Friday for £1.70, did you win your Pilates vid. Got to stay out of Ebay for a few weeks, have recently got my Geri vid (should be here today), A thighs, tums and bums & now the callanetics.

need some variation in my exercise plan and that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

Sarah Ann 03-18-2002 05:22 AM

No - I got outbid on the Pilates one, but I 'won' the same Callenetics video as you - for £1!!

TracyLangford 03-18-2002 06:25 AM

I think i might have a look and see if i can 'win' a couple of exercise videos so that i have some variation in my exercise. I also bought an exercise wheel (which is **** on the stomach muscles!!) thing and a fitness ball both in Asda for £4.99 each.

Tracy

Sarah Ann 03-18-2002 06:41 AM

Its the postage that mounts up..... I just bid on some Winnie the Pooh curtains (enormous ones) heavens only knows how much they would cost to post!

Smiling Sal 03-18-2002 06:53 AM

Callanetics for a pound - thought I'd got a reaaly good bargain too

Delaney 03-18-2002 07:02 AM

Tracy - my hamster has an exercise wheel and a fitness ball!!!

TracyLangford 03-18-2002 10:26 AM

Wish i was as small as your hamster!!!

Tracy

flumper 03-18-2002 12:22 PM

ok since little me cannot track down a rebounder.......im going to try something else which is readily available but im not sure how much use they are ........i want an ABFRAME you know the thing that helps you do situps anyone had anty experiences with this kind of torture treatment

Sarah Ann 03-18-2002 01:52 PM

Kim, I got my rebounder from Argos On Line last Thursday (delivered Saturday - amazing!!). Haven't ever heard of the other thing... not sure I really want to!!

Have you tried eBay - they have a lot of exercise equipment on there, but I'm not sure what most of it does... all I know is that it sounds painful!

flumper 03-18-2002 03:15 PM

argos here i come, i wonder if MY asda has any exercise stuff in i can hide it under al dh's goodies

Sarah Ann 03-19-2002 03:00 AM

Cor Blimey - you must have a good Asda if you even think it might do exercise equipment - our local one is awful! Loads of gardening stuff and, of course, the food - but not very much else - and even most of the decent food seems to be constantly out of stock!

Did you manage to get the rebounder from Argos Online? They still had them yesteday - next door bought one for her kids cos they are cheaper and better quality than the children's ones.

Jan - When I jog on it I am burning up about 7.5 cals a minute!

Smiling Sal 03-19-2002 03:10 AM

I've got an Abs roller thingy. A sort of frame thing that has a rest for your head and supports you can put your arms on. Think it's supposed to help keep your head in the right place when you do situps adn not let you take all the srain on your neck muscles.

It does work if you use it regulary - that is the difficult bit.

I got my from Argos or Index - can't remember which. It was ages ago but someone must still do them.

veggie 03-19-2002 03:41 AM

The tesco here sells loads of exercise stuff it all appeared as if by magic jan 2nd! Then theres asda also sells everything under the blooming sun!

TracyLangford 03-19-2002 05:52 AM

Cardio Bounce

Well, i have just had my first go at the cardio bounce video which arrived the other day - i am nearly dead!!! It is really good but i only managed about 15 minutes of the aerobic section - will try and do a bit more each day but i did do the warm up routine and the stretching as well. Also did some exercises with my fitness ball as well when i had finished bouncing and tomorrow i will do the exercise wheel and yoga video - hopefully if i alternate like that then i will not get too bored and manage to keep up this new exercise regime!

Tracy
