September chatter
Well it's actually September and I always get caught out by equating September with autumn and therefore no sunshine. So we go out on long runs like yesterday and get burned :tantrum:
Although it's not too bad :) |
Wow, September huh?
I have started a new diet so am not enjoying my lunch - well I like the beetroot bit but not the cottage cheese with it!!! I am having 3 ryvita dark rye with beetroot and cottage cheese. I am hoping that the beet will mask the yuckness of the cottage cheese! I have not been on the scales for a long while but I just know that I have put on loads cos I am now officially a size 20! I must do something cos most og mt 18's -even the stretchy waist ones cut me in two whenever I try to put them on. Oh Happy Days. I am going for an interview next week and am bricking it! Where I have worked for 16 years I have just 'slid' into jobs here with only very informal interviews. Still, the more I go to the more I will get used to I guess. The Reed people were ringing me all last week but I was not feeling up to going to see them - I felt lousey last week and have been sneezing and seem to have a 'sore head' . I reckon I am run down and possibly getting a cold. EEk. |
Ooops I posted on August Natterings  oh well.
Good Luck Peacock :crossed: i'm sure that you'll do well :D September already  i've got two birthdays coming up this month  my daughter and my sister :D I must remember to post their cards early enough. I'm being a real couch potato today :kickcan: can't find the motivation to :tread: need to move and do some housework at least ;) Don't know why but sometimes I have to log in again after i've already posted :dunno: its weird  |
Can't say I've been the best example of healthiness the past couple of days. We did do a 16 mile run but also ate tons of cakes and pizza at the same time! At least it kept us going!
Yesterday was ok until I got home and was still absolutely exhausted and po'd about my sore knee and had a really healthy dinner, but then topped it up with chocolate, banana chips, cream crackers, etc etc! Ah well, at least I get to train today! Yesterday would've probably been better if I'd done some exercise, but I'm sure I needed the rest. |
I hope you don't mean you were running AND eating pizza and cakes at the same time!!!! That would conjour up quite a picture!!!!:D
|
Just slipping across the ocean to peek in on JenFrus. I miss her. Isn't she great?
|
hey everyone!! Hope u are having a good summer.
Good luckwith the interview pecock!! My birthday is this friday andd am going to be 20!!! Iam officially not a teen any more ... iam all grown up, exicitng!!! But alos a lil sad, i do like being immature teenager! But any way i think am going to do a maple syrup detox leading upto my birthday! I have 2 and a half days - so mite lose a pound or something on the way too - but one of my friends did it last weekend and said that she thought it was really good and cleaned out her system! so woth a go even if u have to live on water lemonjuice and maple syrup really! am gonna miss chewing!! lol ur rite frus... the weather is pretty hot fro sept tember.... but i wann it to stay so till friday it will be nice to have a sunny birthday! xxxxxxxxxxxx |
Awww! Shmoo will be all grown up on Friday!
Don't worry - I am 47 and there is a teenager inside me trying to get out. It tends to get out when I go to mum's! By the way - whilst trawling the net I came across 2 sites with recipes on them - http://www.markcrook.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13 http:http://www.lifestyle-slimming.co.uk/...pe_archive.htm The second is quite basic recs, the other one has some Slimming World and WW recipes. |
Shmoo - Happy Birthday for friday. I'm 33 and still a teenager inside!
|
peacock - yes running, then stopping for a pizza or cake break! :o Although I could probably manage to eat my carbo gels and jelly-babies on the run, I don't think I could run while eating pizza!
|
Happy September everyone.
I feel disgusting, first day back to school and we had so much free food. All kinds of crap which I definitely ate too much of. I have to tutor this afternoon and am planning to go for a run at 5, hopefully I will be mostly digested by then. My friend and I are applying for a grant next summer to study in London for a couple of weeks, I'll be very excited if it goes through!!! Shmoo happy early birthday, 20 seems so long ago....well I guess it was 20 years ago. Chris if you're around, I hope you're enjoying this weather, September is my favorite month to visit the cape, no tourists and great weather. |
Pizza breaks mid run! Whatever works I suppose  well done on getting the mileage in anyway.
New York has FINALLY been officially announced, and I sent off my first sponsorship cheque today so it's definitely on. I'm starting to get rather excited about it now (although the great north run is shaping up to be equally good now I've seen the names of some of the people who are taking part). I'm ticking over, weight up a bit since Italy (unsurprisingly), and I'm trying to get some consistency back into my running. I didn't do a long run at the weekend because I was doing a relay for my running club (and 11 miles off road no longer counts as a long run...), but hopefully I'll crack 20 on Saturday. My mum left to go back to Spain yesterday, and my dad's arriving for a week on Monday. I'm not sure how much I'll see him mind you, although thinking about it he might be relieved if he manages to avoid eating the type of food I normally cook! Shmoo - happy birthday. I remember my 20th, hard to believe I'm coming up to 30 now. |
Happy birthday for friday Schmoo!
20 seems like a very dim and distant memory to me. |
Happy birthday Shmoo!!! It's my friends 21st on Saturday the're having a dinner party. Then on Sunday a Back to America themed party. Hmmm this should be fun!! I havent got a clue what to wear.
I'm down 4 pounds this morning!!Nice to see the scales mving again. I really wanna get back in the gym or at leats swimming agen. I'm nursing a cup of lemsip as I type cos i can feel a slight cold comming on. Not now my baby is coming next week!! YPI-How do you keep yourself motivated? What tips do you have on me tryna get my butt back working out. I was a work out nut before and was working out almost 4 times a week. I've got a car now so i really have no excuse to not go swimming. I've got my driving test on Sunday. any tips? |
SlimmingWorldChick - I'm not sure that I am motivated, it's just habit... That and having races in the calendar that I want to do well in and enjoy. So at the moment I train because I know I need to so I can get round Amsterdam and New York. Then after that I'm sure there will be something else to take its place. Also I enjoy it, which helps.

Does anyone know if I can post a like to my sponsorship page on here?
All this running and I thought I might as well try and raise some money. If anyone would like to sponsor me, I am running for DEMAND (www.demand.org.uk) who design and manufacture specialist equipment for disabled people. So just PM me and I'll send you the link to my justgiving page. Veggie - can I post a link in my siggy here? |
I'm not sure, I've seen links like that in sigs before though so quite possibly you can. :)
|
Ok, well if anyone who wants to sponsor me clicks on my marathon blog, they can do it through that.
OR if you go to the demand webpage in the "how you can help" section, there is a link to my justgiving page and blog. So sponsor me.... Is that enough hinting ;) Also - SPONSOR HELEN, she is doing good things too! There's a link in her blog for her sponsorship too! |
Hi Ladies
Just trying to muster up strength to :tread: here hehe  i'm still sore but a lot better than what I was :) diet has gone all to **** :dunno: just been a lazy couch potato eating caramel corn and watching tv :lol3: I did manage to walk for half an hour yesterday though and i'll be going up to do some more soon ;) I might have a ride over to Costco later  they're hiring. I don't really want to work retail again but it seems to be that or cleaning over here  i'll go and see what they have to offer and if I don't like the hours i'll just stay at home hehe :D |
Yes, you can sponsor me too!
I've had a really fun day. We had a "corporate social responsibility" afternoon, which was basically pruning trees back to clear footpaths on a moor near Doncaster. I was wondering how Sarah Ann was doing while we were down there, and wondering if by fluke I'd see Fred, George and Ellie heading over the horizon ;) It was nice to get out of the office and do something practical for a change, and it almost inspired me to have a go at the garden at the weekend - it reminded me that with the proper tools, it's not that hard to clear a lot of clutter. Of course that means I need to buy the proper tools... The we went to the pub, I might have had a few cherry beers and chips, but I'm sure I worked it off. Honest ;) Tomorrow is an "easy" day - just cycling to work and back... |
I miss Sarah's stories.
Wonder how she is doing? Anyone heard from her? |
I used to have her e-mail somewhere, I will try and dig it out.
|
Just had a look and I can't find it :-(
Sarah we miss you! COME BACK! |
Well she was still alive last time I emailed her. I can't give you the email as you know, someone where she lived was nosing in on all her posts on here. Not nice.
I am sure she looks in from time to time. Perhaps you can leave her a private message on here. If not I can email her and ask her to leave a private message for you. |
Also, where is michelle? Sarah and Michelle where you gone?
|
Yes, Miche is quiet. Was she not on holiday though?
|
I miss them too :(
Off to Cardiff tomorrow for the exclusive launch of Martyn Joseph's new album "Vegas" can't wait !!:D |
Clicky here to see the team I'm running the GNR with on Granada Reports (about 20 minutes in) (warning - the link might only work until it's replaced with tomorrow's edition).
[shameless plug]And if that inspires you to donate go to this page and add a note to say you're sponsoring me.[/shameless plug] |
I saw that on Granada news last night. :)
I've been the docs I feel so sick. I've had a pain down below for 10 days  I'm officially sick of it. :o |
 Poor veggie  Hope you get it sorted soon. :)
|
Thanks. I'm on my 2nd lot of antibiotics these ones are 8 a day. I've gone from no tablets this year to 15 a day at the mo. :fr: :faint: :censored:
|
Aaahhh poor Veg  Get Well Soon ;)
How is everyone doing :?: I must say i'm not very motivated at the moment :kickcan: although I have been quite good with treadmilling every day :D its so hot :bomb: I was doing housework at 8am because I knew I would'nt want to do owt once the sun was up :yikes: I can't seem to be able to pick a plan  or rather I can't seem to stop drinking cold beers in the sun in the evening :beach: thats whats doing me in :dizzy: i've got rum and vodka but I don't know there is nothing like chugging down a lager and lime (or two ;) ) when its hot. Stomach is rumbling again  its only 11.45and i've already had pancakes/syrup for brekky :o i'd better go and decide what i'm having for lunch before a binge ensues   |
I'm struggling exercise wise. Have joined an exercise challenge with a friend to try and get me back on track. Feeling a but pants at the mo. Feeling really sleepy during the day (poss due to new pills), but then can't sleep at night! Hope everyone is ok.
|
I've decided to just slowly get back on track by returning to healthy eating and a walk every day, and maybe every other day, a bit of gardening or something 'real' that achieves something rather than exercise for exercise's sake. I will FitDay as well as that way I do seem to stay in control, but since my running partner died Xmas (my staffie - and my other dog doesn't believe in walkign let alone running!) then my dad went in May (comfort eating ever since and couldn't face the garden as it reminded me of him, etc). I've totally lost my way.
I haven't weighed but would guess I'm a stone above where I was this time last year. I was a small 12, and am now a big 14 - so it's time to do something. Dad was so proud of me for losing the weight (and kept telling me so) but since he went into the last phase of his illness, I stopped caring what I ate and I live somewhere too remote to run alone. I doubt I can be back to normal for xmas, not really too bothered to be honest - but think I'll just get back on track slowly (started 2 days ago) so by next year I'll feel fine again. |
I'm not donig too bad at the moment, had a bit of a slow week last week due to slight knee pain. Then the weekend was a bit of a washout with a 3 day migraine and yesterday I was feeling :barf: for most of the day.
I still went training yesterday and got some healthy food into me in the afternoon so I wasn't too undernourished ;) Today I've been to the dentist so I'm only just having my breakfast  And I'm STARVING! I'm feeling better after having a rubbish headache and feeling rotten, and I'm off to the gym at lunch. I'm meeting Mum and Dad for dinner in town :hyper: on their way home from Nice :D then tomorrow is more weights and more training and possibly some sparring :crossed: Friday is more training, Saturday is Ovafest in Warwick castle and Sunday is an 18mile run and possibly a BBQ :T |
Quote:
Day 2 of 15 tablets a day I'm so sick of them already. :p Be worth it if this lot actually work. I'm waiting for a scan for pcos. I always presumed I had it anyway. :o |
Oh Dear  what a weary lot we are eh?
Poor PhatPhoenix  i'm sorry about your Dad and your Doggie :( no wonder you've lost your motivation. It will take a while but you'll come through this :) why don't you write that out and stick it on the fridge or somewhere where your stash is ;) (if you've got one) (DAD WAS SO PROUD OF ME FOR LOSING THE WEIGHT) maybe it will help you to get back on track. We are all here for you :D Are you rattling then Veg? ;) hope they work too  Wow Frus you're busy  I'm glad you're feeling better :D Well I watched The Biggest Loser last night :yikes: I can't believe that one contestant (a 62 year old grandad) lost 31lbs in a week!!!! How the **** do they do that? starve them? One 225lb woman lost 20lb in a week too  How can that be a healthy weightloss?? I've been watching Celebrity Fitclub and I thought the 5-7lbs a week that they told them to get off was excessive but this is ridiculous :faint: Well its 1.30 and i've achieved nothing so far  so i'd better head off and do some exercise  |
Hello everyone
Remember me!!! Just been trying to catch up on all your news. Things went a bit mad here. My father got ill again don't you know the craic now. My father leaves it until he is practically at deaths door and then says girl I tink I need to get to hospital. He had another big rectal bleed. Had four units of blood and thank god is now looking a whole lot better. He came home on Monday. In between dashing to the hospital and looking after my mother I have been exhausted. When my father was very poorly. I survived on fried egg sarnies then as he got better jesus didn't I get the urge to eat like a pig. Anyway my father is doing well now we still don't know what is causing him to bleed his colon has been burnt by the radiotherapy he had at the beginning of this year but he had a bleed before that. He is one strong little old Paddy. My Conor is 16 today we decorated the kitchen in banners and balloons for him and he wanted a Spiderman cake!!! I've had two slices alreadyand a big dinner and a slice of the pizza we ordered for the boys. Oh thank god I am back here you are all so supportive and I'm quite sure not posting is one of the reasons my eating has become a bit slapdash again. Goodnight godbless Michele |
Michelle, just wanted to say I'm thinking of your family, I hope everything continues to improve and your Dad is having a pint by the weekend (or right now:) )
Enjoy the cake and pizza!!! |
 Phat Phoenix so sorry to hear about your dad. It sounds like you are in the right frame of mind and slowly losing the weight is the way to go. Just do what you can every little helps.
Michelle I hope your dad starts to improve that radiotherapy is hard on the body. He sounds like a strong Irishman. Veggie hope the pills are helping. Cat I missed the Biggest Loser last night. I'm hoping they repeat it on one of their other NBC channels. They do massive ammounts of exercise every day and that's why they lose so much. Mind you it doesn't seem healthy to lose so much weight in one week. I think the doctors monitor them very closely. Well I just got back from the dentist broke a tooth at lunch time. I was eating fish and chips at the time :o. I hate going to the dentist. I have to weigh in tomorrow and it has not been a good week :(. We'll see what the scales say in the morning. |
