Default Is Excess skin a worry?

hey every one, hope u are all having a good summer.

Well, lately i have been having serious worries about what ahppens to all the skin once the weight u have is all gone. I dunno if u all see this programme on tele calle 10 years younger. Last weeks episode was about this woman called claudia, 39, who lost 12 stones in 12 months after undergoing weight loss surgery. She was saying tht she was almost losing a pound every day! She went down form a 23 stones down to 11 stones.
Bt the problem was that She was left with an incredible amount of excess skin every where. Especially on her stomach, so it stuck out as though she had a belly. And she also had excess skin on her legs and her arms too!
Theres also this other programme i saw about this other american young girl who lost a phenominal amount of weight but again was left with. excess skin on her stomach.

WEll, i know that a lot of u on this forum have lost an inspirational amount of weight. I have around 65 pounds to lose atleast, and i am wondering wherther people who have lost similar amounts of weight or more, have experienced problems with excess skin! I am going to be 20 at the moment so my mum says that i am young and that my skin should have a lot of elasticity, so it should be ok.... but will it?

Will losing weight more slowly help stop u getting loose/excess skin. And if so, how slow should i be losing weight ideally?????
Pleease reply, if u can help, cos if u have worked hard to lose all tht weight naturally, wot is the point in then having to have plastic surgey to lose the skin!!!!
xxxxxxx

Hey, you are 20 and lucky - your skin is plenty elastic. It should "bounce" back. Why don't you give it some time and see.

Many women have had loose or stretched skin throughout the course of our lives. Women have babies, after all! Keep up your good work, exercise, get proper nutrition, and give it a couple of years.

I think you'll do fine!

You're young - and depending on how long you have been overweight - it may not be an issue for you. Everyone is different. I have tons of loose skin and I still have a ways to go - it's the worst part of this journey. Mne seems to get worse every pound I lose. You just have to stay on the journey and not worry about it until you are done and deal with it then. Remember how many other reasons there are for losing the weight - health being the main one.

I think it varies from person to person, I've been quite fortunate in that I haven't really had lose skin yet, I find that my skin is gradually shrinking to the size of my tummy etc, having said that I haven't lost loads off my tummy yet, its mainly been going from other parts of my body.

I was really concerned about lose skin, but the weight loss benefits well outweighed the risk

I'm 19 and lost about 60 pounds. I had some loose skin at first, but it tightened up dramatically over time - exercise helps. Now I have a teensy bit of skin on my belly, you can't tell unless I'm jumping up and down or leaning over. My breasts sag a tiny bit, but that also tightened up over time - I also got started on a birth control pill that made them grow, so they filled out their space before. Granted, I was a DD before, so from that to a C/D is a big change. I'm sure you'll be fine!

Forgot to mention - i was fairly evenly distributed, with a little more pooch in my belly. If your fat REALLY concentrates in one area, there's a good chance you'll have some loose skin there.
