Default uk clothes sizes

i was routing through my wardrobe trying to find something to fit when i found a skirt which must be at least 15 years old. inside it says size 12 - 26" waist. it seems today that a standard size 12 would have a 28" waist. that means in my early 20`s i must have had a size 23/24" waist to fit into 8 -10`s.
looking at my measurements against the current uk standard sizes, it seems that i am a 14 - 16 around my boobs and hips and a 20 around my waist. i know that these are only guidelines and there are vast differences between shops, but it makes me feel a really odd shape.mad
ps i dont look like an apple

I remember they changed the women's clothing sizes a few years ago - they said the female bust/waist/hip ratios were changing (or something like that) - also women's waists are getting bigger and the new sizes reflect that.

My waist is always 2 inches bigger than it should be in relation to my bust and hips - which means that either I wear stretch or low waisted jeans or I have to put up with them being baggy around my bottom.

And my waist is always 10" less than my hips, at whatever size I am. Which makes trousers almost out of the question. In jeans, I'd be a size 18. In a skirt, I'm a small 12. Is nuts.

Don't get me started on clothes sizes! I can get a range of 4 sizes in one day in one shop...

I think most places are more generous than they used to be, but the waist measurement they're meant to follow still isn't right. I've got things that are big on me yet my waist is bigger by 2-3 inches than the size suggests. Honestly, it's a lottery, you have to try everything on nowadays

I'm about a 14/16/18 top and a 12/14 bottom. Drives me crazy and finding a dress to fit is nigh on impossible!

And no, I'm not so top heavy I topple over

Im a bigger bottom than I am top. I am comfortable 12 top, but in bottoms I am a 14 or sometimes 16 if they are hipsters. My problem is my handles.

I'm the other way round... a 16 on the top and a 14 on the bottom - just so long as whatever I'm wearing on the bottom is either slightly drop waisted or has got a bit of give to it. I've got quite a small bum (in relation to the rest of me) I think its all the walking.

Same... Genetically (my brother's the same) I have relatively thin legs and arms, and I don't really have hips. I have a bit of a bum which I don't mind, but most of my weight seems to like sitting on my waist Even as I lose a few pounds, it goes off my stomach but not my sides. I'm like a size 10 in the hips but about a 14 on the waist, but somewhere it evens out at about a 12 atm!

Honestly, how do you get rid of love handles?!

Primarks good.
Ive picked some really nice things up from there very cheaply.
Jeans expecially.
I can fit into size 12 trousers from there - well I could!

I <3 Primark in the summer, their stuff's a lot better then.

Sadly I can't buy anything full length cos they don't do longer jeans, trousers, etc. Can't really complain at their prices, but it sucks having to pay £40 in River Island when my friends get stuff for under a tenner!

But again, cos of the prices, their sizes are screwy. I can be anything from an 8 to a 14 in there, whether I'm at this weight or 2 stones lighter
