Anyone else addicted to bread?

I have been trying to lose weight for the last 5 weeks, so far it's going pretty well.

My only major weakness is bread- toast, bread and butter, sandwhiches- I just can't resist it.

I have switched to wholemeal rather than white, but I'm still eating far too much of it. (3 pieces already today :o )

Please tell me I'm not alone with my bread addiction

guilty as charged. i love thickly cut fresh baked white bread or those cheese topped rolls, drooling....
i too have swtched mainly to wholegrain bread + products. sometimes i will only have a bit other days i get a real craving.
tell you whats nice - s`burys do wholegrain bagels individually wrapped. i buy 1 stops me pigging out too much. mad

I am also SO addicted to bread it is unreal! As soon as I can stop eating it for a few days, the cravings go away. I'm so bad though I can't even have one piece before I go crazy! ;)

Glad I'm not alone.

Wouldn't be so bad if I could stop at one or two slices, but once I've started I just keep going back for more.

You're so not alone. I have to freeze the bread and pull it out to defrost slice by slice because otherwise I'll eat 10 slices easy. Even then you can toast from frozen so I'm with Mad and I tend to buy bagels as you can't toast those from frozen properly. How sad am I :o

I've decided if I'm going to lose weight I really must stop buying bread. It's just to easy to grab a sarnie or a slice of toast, before you know it half a loaf is gone. I am embarassed to admit how much I can through in a day.

I eat a lot of Bread too, I find it easy to get 2 slice toast for Breakfast because I can eat it on the move.

hehe ok I am not from the UK but I just couldn't resist. What about fresh homemade breads? My grandma makes a couple of different loaves for me everytime I goto see her and it is divine..She makes a raisin nut bread, a delicious plain white bread with an extra thick crust, wheat breads, banana breads..one time even a choclate chip bread...ahhhhh.

Bread is great :)

I love bread..... big hunks of really fresh bread (any colour) preferably with proper butter  but I think I've got some kind of wheat/yeast intolerance because it makes me puff up if I eat more than one small slice a day. :( :( I only found this out when I started eating low GI because bread has always featured very heavily in my life.

Have you tried the Food Doctor mixed grain bagels? Yummy with Philadelipa Lite and grapes.

I love all bread. Big, little, brown, white, nutty, bread, bread, bread. Any other carb you can keep, but don't take away my bread.

I am being good now but I did used to fill up on it. If I went to a restaurant and the bread was really good (like the carawy rye bread I have once) well, so d the rest of the meal bring on the bread!!! I don't bother with breadsticks in restaurants tho sadly I demolish them at my book club!!!

I truly believe I could live on homemade bread with butter! It is DEFINITELY one of my triggers. Others are chocolate, chips, and cheese. I had never heard of the word "trigger" until a couple of years ago. A "trigger" is some food that for the life of you, you just can't be trusted eating a small portion of it. It is easier for me to COMPLETELY RESIST one of my triggers than it is just eating a small portion!

So the only answer is to not to buy it or go anywhere near it then? I use my son as an excuse to buy bread then its me that ends up eating it all.
