I went to a concert Friday night, hung around home Saturday, went on a first date Sunday afternoon, and went to TOPS today. In spite of some bad choices, I still managed to lose 1/4 of a pound.
This week's goals are to remember to eat 2 servings of vegetables at both lunch and dinner. In order to accomplish this, I have to be pretty good about bringing my own lunches to work and eating dinners at home. I also need to get back in the habit of drinking enough water. |
I went to my wi today at TOPS. I gained half a pound. I was so good this weekend with my eating too. Plus I worked out more than I normally do to compenstate for the three parties I had to go too. Plus I watched what I ate at each party. One of my TOPS pals said that I could be building up muslce again. I hope that is what it was and that I start losing again. :)
So what concert did you go to on Friday, Phantastica? Hope you had a nice time on your first date! Congrats on losing 1/4 of a pound. Way to go! Hope everyone else had a wonderful Holiday weekend. I sure did. Well two more days of school with my students and then summer vacation here I come. Better close and get ready for bed. Tomorrow is going to be a long day with field day for my kids with the 4-6 graders and our end of the year class party. Then all three of my stepkids have ball games tomorrow evening. Talk to you all later. Have a wonderful Wednesday! Kerry |
Sounds like you both did well over the long weekend. We did not have a weigh-in on Monday so I have another week or so to get off what I know I gained over the 3-day holiday. We were travelling (6 hours each way) and then ate out for dinner twice. Also celebrated a birthday and I did have cake. I have not ventured onto the scales yet. I am about to go workout - too hot to go out for a walk. Very unusual weather for upstate NY - broke a heat record on Memeorial Day (94 degrees!)
Have a good week everyone.;) Lyn |
Hi All
Im sweltering here in NY.. stuck at home with a bum foot... I am going back to the doc tomorrow, Hope she lets me go back to work on monday.. She thinks I have a hairline fracture in my foot... The xray didnt show it but my symtoms were consistent with the diagnosis. The pain is way better.. I swell up anyway when its hot like this... I didnt do really great dieting but dont think I gained either... hopefully will stay the same... I think we have to allow ourselves to enjoy eating too.. its a big part of celebrations, so just get back on track...I am going to find out if I can go to the gym if I dont do too much....Hope you all have a wonderful week... Barb

Kerry, Thank you! I went to see Todd Snider. Somewhat of a musician/comedian. I'd never heard of him before, and I was skeptical of anyone who identifies themselves as a musician/comedian, but I was pleasantly surprised. Was really good. Field day sounds exhausting!!
Barb, I hope your foot feels better! My week has been a little nuts, but good nuts. I went on three dates, and maybe a fourth this weekend. Holy hormones! ha ha   Here's wishing everyone a healthy-eating weekend!  |
Hi everyone,
Today was the last day of school for me with students for this school year. I was lucky and not one of my six students showed up. So I was able to get alot done in the morning. This afternoon, I attended the 4th grade cookout. Eat rather well I would say. Then my school hired a dj to play for the afternoon. So was outside in the hot muggy weather for a little bit off and on. Plus went to visit teacher's that I didn't normally get a chance to visit with. Then I went to Curves and worked out. My goal is to try and make it 4 to 5 times a week there this summer to help jump start my weight loss again. Lyn, so where did you go over the weekend? As for the hot weather, it is very hot here in Ohio too. The humidity is just hanging in the air. I guess I shouldn't complain too much since it helps me drink more water.:) So what did you do for your workout? I love to walk outside too, but just haven't had the time or energy to go out in the hot sunny weather. So I do my Leslie Sansone videos and go to Curves. Barb, ouch your foot problems sound painful. How do you think you hairline fractured your foot? Hope you get to feeling better soon. Like your philosohy about eating and celebrations. How very true. Phantastica, three dates already this week. Maybe a fourth one over the weekend. You go girl! The field day was a lot of fun, but it was 90 some degrees. The kids were even complaining about the heat! I couldn't believe that one. Well ladies, I have to go and round up the hubby and the kids to go to the softball fields, my stepdaughter has a game at 6:30 tonight. Talk to you all later. Have a great evening and weekend! Later, Kerry |

We went to Long Island to visit my husband's sister and brother. I finally got on the scale this am and was surprised to see that I maintained from last week. Maybe the hot weather helped becuase I havn't been too hungry after work.
I am lucky enough to work for a very health-conscious corporation - Johnson and Johnson - and they provide a fitness center at work. I usually do the glider (about 30 - 45 minutes) and strength training on machines 1-2x/week. I much prefer the aerobic exercise to the strength training. I can read while i'm on the glider. Sometimes I do the recumbant bike or go outside and walk. We have a pond that has a path that is 0.9 miles around. I know I am very lucky to work in such a nice place. I was jogging for a while recently, but I went to my arthritis Dr. this week and he said "no one should be running or jogging" due to stress on the knees. This is quite a radical view, but I think it is good advice for me as I have felt some knee pain when I jog. He said to walk briskly using arms and this will burn as many calories as slow jogging. Well, enough for now...back to real work. Lyn |
I have a bit of weight-loss clothing advice this week. I have a date this evening, and in the back of my head I knew what I wanted to wear ... a denim skirt that was previously too small, and a form-fitting shirt. I put the outfit on, and it was way too big, not form-fitting at all! So ... the advice is to try on things that you think will fit, as they might be too big! Not a terribly disappointing experience, I must say. :)
Lyn, your work sounds awesome! |
Phantastica
Great advice and congratulations on "too big clothes!" :carrot: Have fun on your date, too.

Lyn, I would love to work where your company was health conscious. At my school we are promoting good health and fitness to the kids but really don't have the faclities to really teach them fitness. Now my school district did get a loan from the state and a tax levy to build three new elementary schools and a middle school. So I think I will be moving to the new middle school in two years. I hate to leave my elementary school where I have great coworkers and feel comfortable. But I think the positive thing will be the middle school is right next to our high school and they have a great fitness room for students and staff to use. So that would help me really get my fitness in and relieve my stress during my lunch breaks.
Phantastica, great news about the clothes being too big. Have a great time on your date! So what are you going to wear now on your date? Well I need to go and get ready for my dinner date with my husband. We still don't know where we are going to go for dinner. Hopefully we can make up our minds soon. Have a great weekend! Kerry |
