I'm always needing some help. Next week is installation of officers and for the past at least 5 years I've been told, they use the same program to install them. It has something to do with eggs. I don't know all the words but they use egg in almost all of the words used. It's harder than heck to read and our leader ask me if I would go on the web and ask what someone else uses. Where else could I find more experienced leaders than here. Would any of you be willing to share that information with me? If so either leave me a Private Message of a message here for me to leave you one so I can give you my email address. I don't want to leave it on the board. I get enough SPAM. Maybe there is a place on the web some of you know about.
Thanks Belle
Hi Belle,
Every year the 'Tops News' publishes an installation program. This year's is in the March issue on page 23. However, there are several in the programs that come from tops and I think they are better.
or try www.texastops.com Look under 'tops ceremonies'. They have some good ones.
Nita...Thank you so much I found everything we could possibly use. I love some of the idea's and I've printed them all out. Our Tops group has never done anything like we are planning to do this year. I've been working on certificates for 2 days now. I've also made a red valore cape with fake fur for our Queen which this group has neve done.
I thank the Texas site is a great site and I put it in my favorites. I'll have to visit there often. Again thanks from the bottom of my heart, I turely appreciate it. Belle
Hi Belle, IF texas tops dont work, I have a few t oo, we are using the woodland theme this year.. I have seen a candle one, rainbow one ect.. let me know what you find.... be glad to help..Barb
It sounds like you are really going all out for awards day. That's great. It makes awards day special for those that are getting awards. Let us know which program you do for the installation and how everyone likes it. I noticed that Texas Tops has a ceremony for the 'going out of office' officers. I think I'll make a copy of that and see if it can be used in our chapter.
Thanks for the offer Barb, but I found a bunch of great ones on the site Nita posted. Maybe next year. I love the site found lots of idea's that we can use. Nita I think we are going with the Hand in Hand program. I like it a lot. It's not my choice, it's the leader's choice. I just help her in any way I can. She is in very bad health needing 2 knee replacements and 2 hip replacements. She's had a liver transplant and just makes the rest of us look pitiful if we conplain about any pain. We had a very pretty end of quarter program last week( a week early). With certificates and charms and then we had a reinstatement for a Kops with lighting a candle and then a rededication of all the Kops in our group. We are a small group 15. But it's a small town and a year ago we only had 6 people. So this leader has really brought in members and they've stayed. I do appreciate you ladie's help so much. Maybe I can return the favor. #409 Tops Tahlequah, Okla. Belle
That is a hard question to answer, You may have to get your area captain involved in that one, does the old leader want in office again? Or is it just that no one want in?
Shelley, it sounds like your group's leader isn't on the ball. It surely needs some new leaders. Someone that would get some acitivy started. Ater saying I had what I though I needed, our leader called and ask me if I could check and see if someone had a ceremony for crowning the Queen of our group and division winners. I said I would ask. I couldn't find one on the site Nita posted. Thanks everyone. Belle
Belle, we just crowned the queen like they do ar SRD. Last year's queen came up (when announced) and sat down on the throne (special chair we had for her) Then we anounced the division winners one at a time and they came up, was awarded and sit down up front, facing everyone and when that was finished and the KOPS all were up front, too, we announced the new Queen and the old queen took off the crown and cape and helped her put it on, then every one started taking pictures and the newly crowned queen made her speech. Then we had awards for Thanksgiving losses, Christmas losses, Birthday losses,Vacation losses, renewal losses, etc. The woman who made the certificates, made over 100. A lot of the members said it was the best awards day that we have ever had. We made a BIG deal out of it and it was worth it.
Shelly, you need to check with your area captain or coordinator about not having an election. Our rules say to hold them on the first meeting in March and (after installation) the new officers take over the first meeting in April. If this can't be accomplished by the chapter, have someone talk to the area captain or coordinator. Good luck with getting your new officers.
Nita..thank you for the information. I guess I'll have to set down and write up something. This will be the very first time that this group has had a Queen carination. So we are in a new world. In fact this group had never had any kind of a ceremony of thier own before. Sounds like you all really had a nice night. You must have a lot more members than we do. I went to fun day today and we all had a good time. I won the helping hand award for the second time in 9 months. That was a real honor. I don't know if I'm going to make it to SRD or not. My husband is wanting to go off fishing and camping and I kind a do too. Thanks again Nita. It's real interesting to see how other groups do things. Belle
Shelly As Nita said you need to get in touch with area captain or coordinator soon about not having an election. Do you have a leader now??? She should have received papers asking for who the next years officers are. Maybe your leader turned in one without an election.
No . We had our meeting the first week in Mar. Not everyone was there and the ones that were did not want any part of officer thing. So we had a speaker the nest week . No election last week. The area coordinator will be there tonight and we must select those officers tonight.
Nita, you really have a big group. We have I think 15 members and of course a couple of them aren't coming to meetings. We have 4 kops though and we have 3 or 4 more members almost to thier goals. It's going to take me a while to get to mine. But I did have my best weigh in in 3 months. I lost 3 pounds. We had our yearly awards tonight and we really had a nice one. 2 of the kops graduations and crowned the Queen and runner up. We had a great time. Belle
