  • Well tonight is my weekly TOPS meeting and I am really nervous. A month and a half ago I hit a new low of 241 then 3 weeks later gained 2 pounds and last week lost 1.25 of that. I am hoping that I have lost the rest of it this week, but I am nervous. I have had a good week but have come to know that, that doesn't always add up to a loss (pardon the play on words)

I want to be down to 235 by May 1st. That is what I weighed when I was 9 months pregnant with my last child. Heres, hoping that I can do it.

    cheers, cj
  • Oh well, I was down a half pound. Not quite what I was hoping but I know that I am PMSing so at least it was a loss. I'm hoping that the hard work will show up in a week or so.

    cheers, cj
  • Congrats cee,

I know how it feels. I went down 'only' .5 lb. Funny how when we lose .5 lb we say 'only' but when we gain it, it feels like so much more than 'only' .5 lb!

    Lill aka Elva
  • You are right! If I had gained .5 I would have been quite upset. Oh well, eventually I've got to start losing again. It is simple math;fewer calories in then burnt has got to make me lose weight eventually...right? (sigh)

    I answered your PM

    cheers, cj
  • I lost "only" a quarter of a pound this week too, but I was happy because I finally reached the "40 pounds lost" threshold. I was hovering at 39, 39.75 lost for about three weeks!

Here's to a great week for all of us!
  • I know, that drives me nuts when my weightloss teases me! I have been trying to lose the 2 pounds a gained a while back and it has been the slowest process. I didn't realize that I had the patience of Job but apparently I do! Good for all of us. Slow and steady wins the race:

    cheers, cj
  • I was only down "a stick of butter" this week, as well. I worked out every day but one and thought it would be more. I think it will show up this week, though - and thats ok because our chapter is having a "Challenge Week" - the biggest loser wins a dollar from everyone!

Don't get discouraged, Ceejay. Just keep at it.

    Lyn
  • lynard,

Funny you mentioned butter. When I lost my first 20 lbs., I got a pound of butter out and let my kids feel the weight and then I told them that I lost many blocks of butter. when they asked and I told them it was 20 of what they were holding, it kind of put it into perspective for them and they were so proud of me and now they bug me to death because they want me to make it to 30 lbs. I keep telling them that I am trying.

Oh and when I saw that I had put the wrong beginning weight on my counter, I changed it but it wasn't because I wanted you guys to think that I lost more than I really had. I need 4.5 lbs to lose before I get my next 10 lb loss pin. I can't wait.I started my period today so it's going to be close on Monday when I get weighed in. Wish me luck!

  • Great story about the butter. That's a whole lot of butter you've lost!! Keep going!

    Lyn
  • I did a similiar thing with potatos. After I lost 20 pounds I picked up a ten pound bag of potatos and past it to my daughter and said, "I lost 2 of those!" We were both impressed with how heavy 20 pounds really is. It's no wonder I am tired from walking short distances. I'm hauling around a lot of weight!

It is a great way to put it in to perspective. If I go look at half a pound of butter, that is nothing to sneeze at, having that shaved off of my tummy.

    cheers, cj
  • Oh ceejaye,
Isn't it amazing how heavy those bags of potatoes are? I couldn't believe that 20 lbs was so much! Now I if I could lose 5 times that, I'd be in heaven.

  • I know of a leader that hauled a 20lb bag of dog food to her meeting to discuss portion size and weights. Have you ever done that..? Years ago I had a WW leader that went to the butcher and bought chicken fat to show us in various amounts. You know, I dont like chicken wings, lol.........it was truly gross.........
Small losses and turtles, and yes, very small gains are perfectly normal. and we all stress over them... its very hard to accept sometimes when you know how hard you have worked. Everyone have a great day... Barb

The chicken fat is really gross. I don't think I could handle that!

I have thought about strapping some dog food to my thin friends so that they understand why I can't keep up with them when we walk together. LOL

    cheers, cj
  • Lol, good idea about strapping the dog food on friends.... I cant walk really fast either. Have short stubby legs and osteo arthritis in the knees. There was a time, I outwalked everyone, no more...
  • I always tell everyone that because my legs are short, I get twice as much exercise as them, because I have to take twice as many steps! LOL

Somehow I don't think it works that way, but it would be nice if if did.
