Well, I haven't been to a TOPS meeting since December 1 (according to my weight bank book). I stopped going at first because of the busy holiday season--I missed 2 meetings for family functions, and then 2 meetings also got cancelled due to bad weather. Then, after the holidays were over, I just didn't go back. I was party too ashamed of the weight I'd gained over the holidays, partly unenthusiastic because of this particular group (I know we've had discussions of the drastic age differences, as I am only 23 years old), and partly just plain lazy
But this week, I think I'm going to go back. I got aphone call from the weight recorder at my new chapter (I moved in October, so I switched chapters), and she asked where I'd been and if I wanted to go to SRD (which is taking place about a mile from my apartment!). I said no at the time, and then she told me I was a division winner, but I still said no. Now I'm thinking that I am going to try going back to my old group (from before I moved). They were much more active and energetic, and I think they helped me a lot more. The meeting is Thursday night, so I am going to work late on Thursday (I work close to my old chapter, but I normally go home at 3, so I will just work until 6 on Thursday). I hope it works out life- and traffic-wise that this is a good solution. I really do miss my old group
Jilly... I love my group, its the only one here in our village. I sure would hate having to go somewhere else. I gained over 10 lb during the holidays, so I know where your at.. For several weeks I didnt seem to be abled to get things going but doing a lot better now....
I have never been to a SRD and I really want to go. I hope some of the other ladies in our group want to go, problem is, its about 4 hrs from if not more, but a g ood weekend away will do us good Good luck with your weight loss journey.... Barb
I think you're making a smart decision. Congratulations on being a divison winner, too I can't begin to tell you how many times I've left and then gone back to TOPs. Fortunately, this time I'm more committed than ever. This web site helps along with being weight recorder for our club. So let us know your progress. Mice to have you bavk here. I missed hearing from you.
I went back, and it was fabulous I felt so much more at home with my old group, and I got so many welcoming hugs! Now I have to get the transfer paperwork in order (again) and submit my registration renewal since mine runs out next month. I'm so glad to be back with a group and have that weekly accountability. I was waaay up from my last weigh-in on December 1 (6.75 pounds ), but I am actually still down .75 pounds from the last time I weighed in with this chapter, so all was not lost!
Jilly,
I'm glad you went back. I believe we will be hearing many success for you in your TOPS journey.
Congrats for being a Division Winner. I hope you go to SRD. In Ohio we have ARD (area recogination days) and they are so inspiring. I encourge every to make a point to go to their SRD's or ARD's.
I went to a fall rally... but not sure I heard of a ARD... is it the same?? I hope to attend our SRD here in Ny.... never been to one and am very interested in going... hope some of the other members go with me.... .Good to see you posting again Susie... India
Hi India,
We had a fall rally as well. I have only been to ARD and I think it's a lot like SRD. We have Division winners and other things going on and also a KOPS program for those that became new KOPS.
Start working on your members to go with you to SRD; they will get so much out of seeing how much the TOPS orginzation supports it's members.
We had a Fall Rally as well (which I couldn't go to because it was the same weekend as I was moving), but I have not heard of any ARDs around here. Our SRDs are usually down by Richmond or Virginia Beach, which are each a few hours away, so I am fortunate that it is in Alexandria this year, which is where I live! Thanks for the congrats...I'm not 100% sure what a division winner is, but I'm told I am one, so we'll see!
Jilly, when you join TOPS, you are put into a division according to your weight. And a division winner is the one that lost the most weight in that weight division. You can be a chapter division winner, an area division winner (if you have ARD's, our area doesn't) or you can be a state (SRD) winner. And if you are a state winner, you would be a chapter winner also. So, congratulations on being a division winner. It's an honor that you earned.
Hope this helps.
