Default We had a great weigh-in tonight...

Our chapter had one of the best weigh-ins we've had in months. We're a small group and the 16 who weighed in lost over 24 pounds with a gain of 3.5 for a net loss over 21 pounds. Not bad for the start of the holiday season, I personally lost 3.25 and feel that I am getting my control back. Less than 12 to go to get back to my Kops weight.

Wish me luck

Default Greetings from Florida

I am away on business in FL. (I know, don't rub it in, right?) (75 degrees) So FAR, FOOD-WISE I'm doing SO-SO. HAD PIZZA in the airport last night, but today at lunch ate chicken soup and a chicken sandwich. Will have a salad for dinner. Did have dessert at lunch - flan - (yum) but will be good tonight. I'm on my own for dinner, so will have more control.

I miss the fitness center!! Will have to go out walking tonight instead.
Hope i can make it home ok tomorrow night. There is a storm predicted up the east coast.

Lyn

Way to go Owensgram! Nice to see you Lynard and India!

I haven't been posting lately. I have been feeling down and like avoiding most everything lately

On the plus side, I went and got my body fat tested again and have lost a great deal of fat and many of the caliper readings were cut in HALF! Since my last reading a few weeks ago, I have lost 14 pounds of fat and gained 2 pounds of muscle

I was once again reminded that I should be eating more calories The thing is, if I eat any more than 1500 average, I DON'T lose, even with intense exercise!

Default Sounds as if you are all keeping the faith

I know that half the battle is believing that you can make it through the hard times and having a plan on how to do that. I can see that you folks that reponded to my latest e-mail do have a plan.

I have always felt that, in some ways, we are all luckier than those folks who have never had a weight problem and have never learned what is necessary to lose weight. You know , all those little size 8s you went to school with who never gained. When the challenge comes later in life, many of them don't have a good idea of what they need to do to lose weight.

We know the drill, though. We've done it many times before. The trick is to stick with it and make this time the last time. Make this a new lifestyle...

Good Luck and God Bless to all of us!!

Owensgram: Congrats on such a good weighin and for the personal loss that you contributed. It's hard to loose during the holidays. I find it hard not because I eat to much but because I don't get in regular workouts.

I'm stiving to maintain but I think I will have a gain this week. It's my own fault...got to get my head back in the right game plan and I plan on facing the music tomorrow and then moving on and downward!

Yogi: It's good to hear from you, and adding 2 lb of muscle is amanzing! I can't eat over 1700 calories or I gain, no matter what. So I understand...just don't go under 1200 it's not healthy.

Lyn: I hope you made it home ok.

India: It's nice to see you!

Wink Hi All.....

Hi Yogini.. I was wondering where ya were You kept us going for several weeks there... your entitled to your ups and downs... Sounds like you have made a lot of progress, I think 1500 calories while dieting is really a place to be....I am just hoping to hold my own til after the holidays and then I intend to kick some serious butt

Lyn... Hope you make it home safe, maybe cancel the flight til after the storm My daughters friend from Sarasota is leaving in the morning, reports are mixed but we are supposed to get snow and freezing rain... soak up some sun for me

Owensgram.. yep, we got a plan but right now with the holidays its very difficult for sure.... we just have to keep trying.. MY motto.. if you bite it, write it, but dont you quit!!!

Everyone have a great evening... catch ya later

Default I love your" bite it, write it"

I agree wholeheartedly with that idea. I write down all I eat and have been doing it for years, when I'm doing what I should be doing. That's one of the things that helped me to lose the 104. People look at me in an odd way when I whip out my calorie book and notebook, but that's okay.

Some people may not need to keep track like this, but if I just never know where I am and when to stop for the day unless I keep track in writing.

I agree with the 1500 calories being a good level. I think that if you get in a decent amount of exercise you should definitely be able to lose on that amount and still eat enough not to fall off the wagon too often.

And if we can all get through the holidays without the 5-7 pound gain that most people have during the Christmas season, we've just given ourselves the best Christmas gift of all.

Congrats on good weigh in. This is such a hard time of the year to lose. It can be done of course but temptations are everywhere. We have been eating out so much or bringing home take out. Family gatherings with great food.Shopping and rushed and don't have time to cook or plan meals. It is hard for everyone.
We will have our Christmas early this year. This Sunday.I try to have a party early so kids can stay home on Christmas morning plus they have time for inlaws etc. Usually it isn't this far in advance but it will be nice to have everyone here. It is hard to get them all together. Eight kids and spouses plus 11 grandchildren(2years old to 16) plus a few siblings and nephews and neices thrown in makes for a wall to wall house. But everyone is usually gone by 5 so we enjoy the quiet then. And it is a pot luck lunch so I don't have to cook. Then Christmas day we will go to one of our daughters for christmas dinner.
It is cloudy but nice here in warm Florida. This is the best time of the year. Not hot,not cold.Just right.

Talking I'm Home!!

I took an earlier flight and went through Charlotte instead of Pittsburgh At first I thought I'd blown it because the flight to Charlotte was delayed an hour, but I made the connection to Rochester and got home after a harrowing drive to LeRoy in the icy rain! I saw 4 cars off the highway in ditches. I drove REALLY slow.

Well, I did some things ok. The woman I worked for in FL had a free gym pass to a fitness center so she let me use it last night and I worked out for 2 hours there! On the down side I had 2 candy bars in the airport (must have been nerves.) Sooo, tomorrw, back to reality. I'm just happy to be home - and now I don't have to miss watching "The Apprentice" finale!!

Yogini, You are such an inspiration - That's so great about your loss of fat inches. Keep it up.

Owensgram, so glad you are here to cheer us on. You, too, are to be admired. You'll be back at goal soon.

India,
How are you surviving this wonderful weather? Did you have a hard time getting home from Rochester tonight?

Susie, Yup, if we just maintain for the next couple of weeks that is an acomplishment in itself. Hang in there.

Eleni,

Have a great Sunday Celebration! You have lots of family to share the holiday with. That's great. Yes, FL was very pleasant - a nice brief change from this winter weather in NYS.
