Hi all.. today is nice and sunny out so we are working on painting the house. I am actually more the cheering on gallery. No so much the painter person. As I tell my husband - I am management and he is union .

Sherri - I am taking the meds for bloodpressure but I really am starting to feel much better. I was very dizzy for a while too but that seems to have passed.

Marie - I don't know about this strike. One of our province's best mediators finally gave his report yesterday and all his reccommendations (non binding). The union accepted but the company said absolutely no way so that leaves everything in a real mess. The company will not budge at all and the union won't budge much. A real impasse. The govt. says no back to work legistation so I don't know what will happen. What a mess.
The people that are really hurting are the seniors, low income people, students, businesses in the downtown area that are serviced by buses. The general public are starting to feel very nasty about the whole thing and I don't blame them.

I have puttered around a bit in the garden too and all my roses are coming now. I love that. Tonight we are having chicken burgers and watching a video and now I am off to drink more water.

Have a good weekend all....

Talking Thanks Christian

Thanks for the info on the plan you are following. I do go to TOPS. I was doing really well, but lately I seem to be struggling to hang on.

Thanks again for the info.

Christie,

You did great today. Keep up the great work and good luck at grandma's tomorrow. You should try to rething what you are going to have for dinner though. By eating a big lunch off plan you shouldn't have the carbs for dinner. It will help you keep off the weight so you don't have a gain. You don't have a choice for lunch but you do for breakfast and dinner. Make good choices then and make sure to exercise and you will do fine. We will be back on plan on monday.
You had a great on plan weekend. Keep it going. We just have to learn to juggle what we eat is all. We can have it but just can't eat out of control all day and we will do fine.

Nancy,

Hi there welcome to the boards. I love the low carb plan. I have my carbs for the day for breakfast and for lunch. Then I try not to eat carbs after lunch. It really works for me. I have 4 servings of carbs a day. We still need carbs just not as many as we normally eat. Cut back on the carbs if you eat a lot of them and you will see the pounds fall off. I did. Don't cut them out altogether though. Because you still need them. Let us know if it works for you or if you are trying it or not.

Eleni,

You did good a couple of weeks ago. I know you can do this. Stop making the excuses that we all make and just make yourself do this. Then when the scale goes down at weigh in you will be so proud of yourself and I am proud of you everyday for not giving up. Don't give up you can do this. I know it isn't easy for any of us but I know that you want to reach your goal and that means you have to get to work. It is hard work but it will extend your life. You are worried that the weight will kill you. Well I want you around for as long as possible. Think of your health. Find a plan that works for you and try to stick with it. You are losing and you are doing great. All the exercising is paying off. But you have to get the eating under control as well and you will do much better. Decided tomorrow that you are going to start eating healthy. Don't say I am going to start my diet again. It isn't a diet but a way of life and healthy eating. We will help you through. But you are the one that puts the food in your mouth. Try doing something that makes it hard to eat while having the cravings. Dr Phil said they usually go away withing a few moments if you don't give in. So occupy yourself with someone. Like go for a swim when you get the urge to eat. Then you can't eat and swim at the same time. I am learning that. Also I know I eat a lot when I am not truly hungry. I am trying to slow down and realize what is happening when I am wanting the food and why. If anything it makes us think. So lets all think before we eat. It might help.

Good luck this week eleni. I know you have a lot on your mind with this job change and all but you have to take care of you first your health depends on it. I love you and want you around. I want to applaud for you when you reach your goal. I know you will get there. I won't let you give up.LOL

Hey Donna,

Thank you so much for the e cards I love them all. How did the house painting go today? We have to paint our house also. The paint is peeling off of it.
How is everything with you? Are you staying on plan? I think about you everyday. Thanks for everything. You are a great friend.

I did real good on plan today. I am so proud of myself. It has been a long time since I have stayed on plan for friday and saturday both.
But tomorrow night my husband wants to go to the buffet. So I am planning to eat light for breakfast and have sf ff jello with ff coolwhip for lunch with milk and a fruit. That way the one meal won't do as much damage. I am definetly going to exercise tomorrow morning and tomorrow night to help burn up the extra calories. I really don't want a gain again this week. I am working hard and I want to see some kind of result. You know?

Here is the contest I started and thought I would share it with you so that it might give you an idea for a contest for your chapter. I thought of this by myself.

You pair up and have 2 in a team. If your chapter is huge then put more people in a group. Like have 4-5 groups. Then run the contest for the number of weeks there are teams.

The team that loses the most at the end wins. But the team that loses the least amount every week during the contest has to plan the program for the following week.

That way it gets people motivated because most people don't want to do a program so they will try their hardest to lose. I told them if they didn't want to present it then I would or the leader would. But they had to come up with the program though. Thought it might get people more involved and get them motivated at the same time. Everyone was saying I am going to lose for sure during these weeks because I don't want to have to come up with a program.

Usually the leader or myself plans the programs every week.

Wendy,

I know you were looking for ideas thought you might like to do this one.

Have a great night and I will talk to you tomorrow.

Remember to stay on plan, exercise and drink your water.

Sherri

Well what is happening on my neck of the woods. Lets see here. I went to the clinic today because I could not walk from my bed to the bathroom without my knee giving out. He did a ultrasound and everything was normal with it but it still hurts like the dickens. My son just got back from 3 days with his grandma and is very cranky. I hope I can get him to bed tonight. Ever since last weekend I have not been able to get him to bed at night. Last weekend we had a terrible storm rip through our town. golf ball to baseball size hail and winds 50-60 miles per hour. My car was totaled and on Wednesday I will find out how much damage to the trailer. I figure a good 5000 to 6000 dollars in damage. The windows need replacing and the roof needs to be replaced. I will fix up as much as I can and put the rest in savings. Everyone is safe though. That is over and I hope it doesn't happen again this year. There is a under pass that is 17 feet deep and it had to be plowed out because it was filled with hail. This is the worst storm in this area that I have been witness to. Well I must go now. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/bis/june9.htm Here is the address to some pretty good pictures of the storm. I just found them.

Take care,

Tamara

Talking thanks for the welcome

Thanks for the welcome and the info. I joined TOPS in Feb. It's a great group. The people are friendly and supportive. Between Feb and Apr I lost 17.5 lbs. (I have about 80 to loose in total). Then in April my Mom passed away suddenly. She was 78 and lived with my hubby and I. ALthough she was 78, she was in good health and her passing was very unexpected. Anyway, since then I have really struggled to stay on track. I gained back 3.5 and then lost .5. I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread (to my healthy eating goals). I've lost well in the past by limiting carbs. I have tried the high protein plans, but I can't stick to them very long. Also, I have concerns about how healthy they are. My goal is to be healthier, not to weigh less and still be unhealthy. I'd appreaciate any suggestions any of you have. What works for you? I know you all follow different plan. Would you mind sharing a typical days menus?

Thanks,

Nancy
