Hi! I would check out the www.tops.org website for ideas. Or you can ask your leader for the tops manual, if they don't mind. There is tons of programs and games in the big tops book! Penny
I got a lot of great ideas from the program book. Now that the new leader is using my ideas it is great. We have had great meetings since the new leader got in.
Last week we did a compliment circle. Everyone loved it. Everyone gets in a circle and you take turns being in the middle. Everyone in the circle has to say something nice and encouraging to the one in the middle. It really boosts the ego and makes you feel great and worthy of something. The one in the middle is not allowed to say anything negative about what anyone says but thank you. It is hard let me tell you. I don't take compliments well and it was ackward standing in the middle but it was nice to hear all those nice things about myself.
There is another thing we are doing this week. You take one by one and in front of the room there is an empty chair. You are to stand next to the empty chair and make believe that that person sitting in the chair is you. You have to say whether you think that person is doing a good job with their weight loss journey. Or you can say if you would be that persons best friend. Or anything. It is to build up self esteem and to realize what You think of yourself.
If you want some more ideas check out the program book which I am sure someone in your chapter has.
Our TOPS chapter has just started a contest where we divided into 3 teams. For each quarter pound loss the team gets a link to build a paper chain. KOPS get links for being at or below goal. The paper chains will be kept in a plastic bag (each team has a separate bag) until the end of the contest, then they will be taken out and measured and the team with the longest chain is the winner. For the fun part, teams can earn bonus links by putting on a skit , singing, dancing or giving any kind of fun program. Our teams are plotting their strategy, and hopefully their imaginations will come up with some good ideas for their bonus links.
Sometimes members get tired of contest with the same old rules, (drink all your water, keep a food diary, etc). So maybe letting them plan what they want to do for extra points will work out better.
I also read about a "red hot purse" contest on the TOPS message board that sounds very interesting.
