Default lbsbgone weekly weigh-In - 12/29/04

I gained 1.75 lbs. this week. I wanted to lose but I ate too mcuh this week for a loss and often the wrong kinds of foods too. However, overall I had a loss through the holiday season. Hoping to start the New Year off right with a loss.

I still am trying to finish the book that I am currently reading so that I may start the book "Inspired To Lose." I will let you all know when I start it and how helpful it is to me.

lbsbgone,

Don't worry about that much of a gain. You can get that off and then some by starting over today and making healthier choices this week. You can do it. What book are you reading now?

As for me I also had a gain this week. Yesterday was one of those days that I was soooooo hungry all day. I tried to make my oatmeal at work but the handle of the microwave is broke so I didn't eat. Had a wheat english muffin but that didn't do it for me. But TOM is here to so that doesn't help. I will do better this week.
I probably won't make my weight goal by Jan 1 but like the leader explained this morning at the meeting I have met a lot of other goals I haven't thought about. I am going to the meetings, I am more aware of what I am eating and how many points I am having daily (Most days), when I get off track I don't beat myself up about it I forgive myself and move on and start over. These are things I wasn't doing before that I am now. She said this is all the goals that make up getting to the big goal so I am meeting many goals each week I just don't realize it.

Penny,

I hope you enjoyed the wrestling match and the boys to. Did you have a good birthday? How was your christmas?

Susie,

I think you are right about fear. I am the same way I worry about everything and I need to stop that. I know I need to get my tree down and my living room back in order then I can get focused again. When my house is unorganized it makes me unorganized to. I read about being habitually late. That is me. I have to work on that this year to. I hope you enjoy your 2 days off. I get friday off. We are having a few people over for new years eve and we will play dice. It is a nice family thing to do because megan plays to. It is a lot of fun.

I hope you all have a great day.

By the way we finally have DSL up and running at work that is why I am here now.LOL

Default Thanks for the encouraging words!...

I know that with a little bit more focus and patience I will get this weight off.

The book that I am currently reading is not weight related, but it is by a favorite author- Dave Ramsey: "Total Money Makeover." Most of it is a repeat from his Financial Peace University Course that dh and I took, but it is a good book. It's just taking me awhile to finish it.

Have a great week.

Hello,

lbsbgone: Glad to see that you have a positive frame of mind despite the weigh-in gain. Having lost an overall loss during the holiday is something to be very proud of.

Sherri: Nice to see you posting again. I miss you when you aren't here!
I'm expecting a weightgain tomorrow at my weighin. I've been having that "unfull" feeling also. It's like I just can't get enough food and it's because I feel physically hungry. I wish I could eat fruit to help those feelings when I feel that way, but with the IC I can't. I'll find something to help with that though.

I know that we've talked about it before; I'm the same way that you described when things aren't in order around you. It drives me crazy and I lose focus. I had a lot more energy today; I went to bed early last night and I had a much better day. When I got home from work, I took some clothes down to the basement to wash and then DH came home and we went for a walk at the Y. I was going to do some weight training, but I decided to just go for a walk. I'll get back to the weights next week.

When we got home from th walk I had a lot of energy, so I cleaned out fridge (it was on my list of things to get done this weekend) and I also cleaned out a cabinet where we keep the spices and such. It feels so good to have that all cleaned out and orginized. Tomorrow I'm tackling the tree!

Sorry it has been so long since I've posted. I feel like I am out of the loop and don't know what is going on.
My computer thought it needed a rest, I guess, didn't work right for a while. Had it worked on...but DH thinks I just need to get a new one.
I hope you all had a wonderful Holiday and will have a good, safe New Year's Eve!
I got the Christmas stuff out of the house and mostly cleaned up! I have another wave of company coming in on Friday and after the reception on Sunday, things should slow down again!
Congratulations to you who lost weight this month...it is so hard with all the festivities, but you did it. And those who didn't reach your goal...we are starting a new year and you will do it. Don't give up! Make this your year to succeed!
My Area Captain sent this to me...I think it is worth sharing.

New Year's Resolutions You'll Keep-A Simple Quiz
By JoAnna Carey

Let's talk about New Year's Resolutions. Do you set the same resolutions over and over, year after year, with the same results? Do you procrastinate, avoid the issue, confess to being lazy or come up with a zillion reasons why you will do something about those pesky resolutions tomorrow? Then there's a little voice in the back of your mind that whispers, "You have a whole year to make these changes, right?"

Here's an example. You wake up one morning in late December or early January and announce," I ate too much over the holidays, my New Year's resolution is to lose weight this year!" So, have you decided how many pounds you want to lose, or are you more interested in losing inches, or wearing a smaller clothing size or converting fat to muscle? How quickly or slowly should this resolution be achieved - by sometime next week seems reasonable, right? Have you thought about your diet and exercise program or have you simply stated, "I want to lose weight this year," and now you'll journey into 2005 doing exactly what you've always done and expect miraculously different results. But, enough about your weight, the point is to take charge! The following tips will show you how to stop sulking, to develop a clear sense of purpose and to stride boldly into 2005.

Start with buying yourself a nice journal or at the very least set aside a notepad that you will use to record your journey into the New Year. Begin with a few positive sentences about your greatest accomplishments of 2004. Then, jot down some of the mistakes or obstacles that kept life interesting but are better left in 2004. Now, write down your list of resolutions for 2005. This doesn't have to be fancy or grammatically correct it is just a place for you to note your ideas in an effort to develop that clear sense of purpose.
The following quiz can help you explore how and why you choose these
particular resolutions.

1) Is your list the same or a similar list to the one you wrote last year?

2) How many years have you used this same list without achieving the results you sought?

3) Are you setting goals to please others or to please yourself?

4) Why did you set each resolution on your list? To answer this WHY question, consider the following:

a) Think back to who you were when you first decided upon each resolution.

b) Are there any resolutions on your list that don't apply to your life right now?

c) Why did you want to accomplish each goal when you first set the intentions?

d) Was there or is there someone else in your life that influenced you to add any of the resolutions?

e) Why do you want to accomplish each goal now?

f) When, or by what date, do you want to achieve each goal?

g) What specific steps will you take this year to achieve your resolutions?

5) What are you really trying to achieve in 2005?

6) CHALLENGE: List at least ONE thing you will do differently than you have ever done before to make your dreams a reality in 2005!

Now, look at your resolutions from a whole new angle. Start with a blank page and develop a list of everything you have ever wanted to do. That's right, everything. Ignore all resolutions, obligations, fears, costs or any other obstacles that may prevent you from adding an item to your list. Just write anything that comes to mind when you reflect on everything that you have ever wanted to do. To develop a clear sense of purpose for the New Year, take the list and choose at least two things that you will commit to accomplishing in 2005. Then, write out a few steps that will help you begin the journey of attaining something that really has meaning!

Here's the fun part. Compare your list of everything you have ever wanted to do with your initial New Year's resolutions. Are there common themes between what you will set out to conquer in 2005 and what you hope to conquer when you consider everything you would like to do with the rest of your life? If the two lists don't show similar desires, what are you waiting for?

Make 2005 the year that you change the way you set and REACH your New Year's resolutions. An effective way to tackle resolutions is by committing to take one step each week so the goals become more than just intentions; they become habits. If you are averse to the thought of change taking an entire year, then commit to a time
schedule that feels right for your situation. You'll see results with every week that you take action! This is your life, so set your own rules and work at your own pace. If it does take you an entire year to reach those resolutions, think of it this way: what's a year when it means a happier rest of your life?

I hope this helps you when you are making your resolutions!
Love to all...
