Tuesday - April 5

  • Wow, there's no daily thread yet so I guess I'll start things rolling.

    Had our installation last night and it was very nice. Gave charms and certificates to the outgoing officers and since I was leader so long, I gave them something personally from me too. The new officers lit candles and received flowers. One of our members owns a restaurant so we had a lovely dinner also.
    I am so glad to be doing just one job this year, weight recording.

    I lost 3/4# and I am happy. Still 1/2# over goal but there is always next week.

    Tonight is alot of your meetings and I hope they go well.

    Must run, sorry I can't address everyone personally now....but you all know you are in my thoughts and I wish you all success. Don't forget to drink your water!

  • Hey everyone!!!

    I had my first meeting last night as the official leader. I think it went well, at least I didn't hear any complaints.

    I stayed the same last week but I lost 2.25 this week so I am really happy about that. I think some of this walking is finally catching up with me a little and showing up on the scale.

    Now I have a KOPS graduation to prepare for next week and then the awards night the week after and then finally things settle down and I can get into a bit of a routine for TOPS. This week from H*** is also almost over. I have marked no less than 500 assignments this week - no exaggeration. I ony have a few more left for tomorrow morning and then I am done for another semester of marking. Hopefully I'll find something else over the summer so I don't have to come back in the Fall again.

    Well, almost time to go home and I am walking the puppy after I get there. That will make two walks today as I walked to work this morning!!! (Only 20 minutes - but better than nothing!)

  • Hello all,Just checking in real quick as I have to leave for my TOPS meeting.My daughter {29}called me and she has been having problems that sound like heart problems to me.I told her to not mess around that she is not too young for a heart attack.better to go get it checked and maybe feel a little silly than to die of a heart attack.Will take my cell phone with me.Told her to check in with me every hour.
    Summer--It sounds like you had a really nice installation program.We never do anything like that.The new people just take over.When I stepped down as leader I also bought special gifts.But I only had to buy 2 as I had almost no help my year. Last year I was co-leader and I did all I wished someone had done for me.Now I am like you.I am the weight recorder.Have been getting the quarterly weights so new leader can give awards.I am trying to help her get started then I go far into the background.Conrats on your 3/4# loss
    Allanah-Glad your first meeting went well.You are going to do great.It gets hectic sometimes.Congrats on 2.25 # loss.And it is great you walked to work.20 minutes is great.I remember when I couldn't do 10 minutes.

  • Hey everyone. It has been a long time since I have posted. Guess I have been going through some funk. I have been working out 5 out of 7days and have not been losing. Ithought I had been watching what I ate. We have been playing a game and one of the items was to keep a food diary. The game was over this week. We will know who won Wed. I am the leader of my chapter. We broke off from another chapter last year. I was the leader there as well. Come election time surprise! no one wants to be leader, co-leader or secretary. I remained leader, talked the ex-secretary to remain, and filled in the ex- coleader's name who was away at the time. Still haven't figured out how many rules I broke. We had installation of officers Wed. It went well. Charms and buttons, and candles lit. I rewrote the ceremony that is in the chapter guide to suit the occasion. I received a lovely minirose bush from the treasurer.( I think she is trying to bribe me into staying ha ha ). I was wondering if anyone has any ideas instead of fines for gains. The fines don't seem to motivate or have an impact. I wanted to have the gainers have to tell a joke but I am not a good joke teller. Well I have blabbered on enough. Will try to post more often and try to be more optomistic.
  • cruzansuzan I know what you mean.Sometimes it is real hard to get anyone to do anything.I broke a few rules myself when I was leader.Sometimes you have to just do your best.
    We have a new board now except for myself and the treasurer.I think it is going to be ok.Will take a little time to get things sorted out.The co-leader volunteered to take over being photographer for me.It was too much for me.I have gotten way behind.Being weight recorder will keep me busy plus helping new board.
    But leader did a short talk on the 3 M's
    Mind--Get your mind set on losing
    Mouth--Control what you put in mouth
    Motion---Put movement in your life
    I thought that was pretty good.Mind,Mouth,Motion
    I had another turtle so I am at a stand still.
    Four other ladies from our group are doing the same 1 mile I am on Saturday
    It is way past my bedtime.

  • Hi all - well this week is nearly over and this is the first chance I've had to write on the board. My mom is still in hospital and had her operation on monday. she will be in until next mid week at least so we are going into visit her daily. Unfortunately too I gained 1 1/2 pounds on tues at weigh in so this week I must do better. Tomorrow night is our ARD and I hope to go. Maybe listening to all those people will really motivate me. When I paid my monthly dues on tuesday I got my collar. I don't know if all TOPS do that or just our group but I also got a pin for bringing a friend to join so that was a fun thing.

    Eleni I hope your daughter is OK. Please let us know.

    Thanks for the info, Eleni. I really liked the 3M's. I hope you don't mind if I use it. We are going to have a line dancing demo this week. Should be fun. I do have a lot of good people, sometimes it is hard to see past the trouble makers. I workout with one of themembers and she is great on the motivation. She started picking me up to go as an incentive for herself and now it is motivation to get me moving. I had my blood pressure taken at a health fair yesterday and it was 128/80. TOPS has done something for me. I have learned the foods high in potassium and to get out and move. I am still almost 290lbs but I feel great. It will come off. Although I have been larger than life since I was a child but have always been active. I am glad I came back to this site. You all are doing so good. Has anyone heard anything good or bad about this " zone diet "? Catch ya later, it is off to the gym
