Chapter Promotion Idea 10/16/02 - 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet Weight Loss Community

I got this from one of the TOPS E-mail Loops I post on. One of the gals shared a promotion idea that one of the chapters in North Carolina does. One of the chapters takes their old issues of TOPS News and leaves them in the waiting areas of hair dressers, doctors offices, dentists offices and in the magazine area of the public library. The back issues contained information on where the local chapter meets, what day of the week they meet, what time and where they meet. I forwarded it on to members of my chapter with e-mail addresses and friends in other TOPS Chapters. I made up some labels with my chapter's info on them. I'm going to start taking the October issue up to the library when I get the November issue.

I did this a few times myself but I think I will challenge my group to each do this during the coming week

Great idea. We have done that in the past but we haven't kept doing it.

We should probably do it every month. With everyones old issues we could hit a lot of places. Plus it is free advertising.

Glad both of you like it. I'm going to start taking my old issues to our public library when the November issue comes out which should be soon. I've made up some labels on my pc with our chapter information on it and the toll free 1-800 number and web site on it.

I made new labels to put on the issues and past them out to members. The labels told when we meet and has my number for questions. Everyone is to put one somewhere. I put one in a shelf that library has for advertizements

Our library also has a bulletin board for putting posters on, too. We've done that in the past, too.

Just wanted to add that you should put a contact number for someone in your group and not the 800 number. Because then they can call the 800 number and they might end up joining a different group then yours. If you want people to join your group then put your number or someone elses number in the group.
