Well, I am back from PRD and I had a very good time. Carol and Olga showed up (7 hour drive for them, are they buds or what?)and meshed quite well with my TOPS pals.
News flash- I did not faint while giving my speech and everyone was SO kind to me. I opened by saying "Wow, there are so many of you!" Everybody laughed, and it was the coolest thing, From that point on I was fine, I felt like everyone in that huge room was on my side, rooting for me.I didn't talk too fast, and at several points I had to wait for the laughing to die down to continue, then many people cried, and then I got a standing ovation, it started with the graduating KOPS and extended to the whole room. While I will never enjoy being in front of a crowd I must say that was not the horrible experience I thought it would be and boy did I feel some {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{vibes!}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
Carol videotaped it but parts of it can't be heard very well because she started crying, which got my whole chapter crying.
A cute aside, we stopped on the way home for dinner and as I was waiting to pay my bill a woman approached me and said "I loved your speech, it was really well done"
Verna said "See, it isn't just because we are predjudiced!"
I finally saw the circle of light and it was very moving,
OK, this is my YEAR TO BECOME A KOPS! I will join that circle! The only time I cried was when Sharon gave me her yellow rose and just like Recognition Night, my eyes got all watery, thankfully Verna started cracking jokes and I didn't lose control.
Our area captain says I stand a very good chance of being Provincial Queen next year so keep your fingers crossed ladies, I just may make the magazine!
Well, I am pooped, so I am hitting the hay!
Good Night everyone!
