HuH?

  • Hey, I'm heading to bed but I gotta know what the heck you guys are talking about. I was Miss Recognition, I thought that was all I could be, as I have not achieved KOPS status yet. I thought you had to be a KOPS to earn any higher awards.
I was told I could not graduate at PRD either (if I make it)as my status did not happen before the end of 2001.

To my knowledge no one else has had as big a loss in our club and no one has achieved KOPS since I have been there.

Well, please set me straight as I am totally confused.

    Nighty night,

    CC

PS, If I am asked to write a success story there will be muchos {{{{{{{{{{{{{viberoonio's}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} in it to my TOPS PALS!
  • OK, Here goes CC...hope I can clear up some stuff.

Yes, it is true that you can only graduate at a PRD if you reach KOPS by the end of the previous year. So when you reach KOPS this year [and I KNOW you will] you will be allowed to do so at your PRD in 2003. If you really want it to be special and take a trip, you can even graduate at IRD and it will be in Canada [Ontario], if I remember correctly. Members can also graduate in their chapter, but that isn't as special, I think.

In regards to Division winners......TOPS sends certificates to chapters that had members that lost more than 10#'s in their weight divisions. I believe they recognize the top 3 in each division. All of your chapters weight charts were sent to your TOPS coordinator at the end of the year along with the 'Resume' and this is what Eleni was talking about. All chapters have different ways and times of handing out those certificates. Our chapter gives them out at the installation of new officers and honoring the outgoing years accomplishments. Keep your ears open as to what your chapter has planned, but then again, it might be a surprise.

About my reference to wishing that you had joined TOPS earlier last year, if you find your Oct 2001 TOPS News magazine, you will see photo's of the International Division Winners. Most have lost alot of weight to get that recognition [and it has to be achieved in that calendar year]....but they have not yet reached KOPS status. It's nice that TOPS recognizes members as they are in the process of losing weight before they become KOPS. Those top losers have the honor of being recognized at IRD. I will be helping with IRD this year and I am so thrilled it is in Colorado. It will be my first. WOO-HOO!!!

Now, another thing that could happen.......if you reach KOPS this year and you end up being the person that has lost the most weight to goal in your Province [no matter in what time frame it took] for 2002, you could end up being The Queen at your PRD next year. If that is so......than you will be encouraged to attend the IRD next year too!!!! I'm assuming TOPS helps the Canadian Royalty like they assist the individual states here. See, you have ALOT of good things that can happen. I was Colorados Queen Runner-up a few years back with my 60.75 loss. The Queen that year lost 85#'s. I'm praying that no one else loses more than you in your Province when you reach KOPS. If you should make 'Royalty' you will be asked for a success story, I cried while mine was being read. Our state King last year [who also went to IRD in Seattle] is a friend of mine and he mentioned me by name at SRD and I was shocked and got teary eyed. What a pleasant surprise that was!!!

    OK, now are you even more confused? Enjoy knowing what you could be in store for. You've been working so hard and I hope luck is on your side for these possibilities. {{{{{{{{{{{{{YOU GO GIRL......LOTZA VIBES}}}}}}}}}}}

  • Summer,

Thank-you for taking the time to reply, you really cleared up a lot of my misconceptions. I thought you had to lose the most weight AND attain KOPS in the same calendar year.

This meant that had I joined in Jan I would have stood a chance but as I joined midway thru the year, oh well, won't happen.
Which is OK because I never joined TOPS to win prizes. (I didn't even know there were prizes) And if I never get another thing from TOPS, it doesn't matter, I have already received greatest prize of all. I have won my health and my self-esteem back.

I really have to run, the weekends are CRAZY around here but Thanks again, fellow Beacon,

    CC
  • CC Sorry I confused you but glad Summer explained it better.
And as Summer said you stand a good chance of being queen for this year. That would be great
  • HI
    Hi Everybody
Hope everyone is having a nice weekend. Boy was this stuff confussing. I wont worry too much about it yet. I have a long ways to go before I ever have to worry about being a KOPS. But that will be nice once I get there. We were a gaining chapter for last year. So not sure what they do in that instance. Wonder if your area captain comes and talks to you. Does anybody have any ideas what TOPS does for a gaining chapter? I am hoping when we elect new officers that that will help our chapter. The lead we have now is a very nice lady. But sometimes gets carried away with other things that dont pertain to tops. Likes to joke alot. Which I think is fine. But sometimes some of the girls are trying to do therepy or ask questions about things. And they never get answered. Because they leader is talking of something else. Also we have one lady that likes to cut the meetings short. A few times our meetings have lasted 15 minutes. That is roll call (19) members and pledges included. If someone doesnt speak real quick Meeting Adjourned. That is some of my problem I think. I figure if I make an effort to eat right, may have a loss, and take the time to go. They should be able to take the time to have our meeting. The one that wants to adjourn is our weight recorder. She says she is there an hour before anyone else and ready to go home. But she doesn't start weighing in until 6:00pm. Meeting starts at 7:00pm. Sorry girls. I didn't mean to unload on you.
Hope everyone is lighter this week. Me included.
    A TOPS PAL
  • CoCo ,

I am with you about the confusing part. Unfortunately I gained back all my weight and then some over the summer so I won't know about any of this until next year. I am just concentrating on just getting to goal myself. Glad to hear you are on the right track. The SB book should help you a lot. I have started reading mine. I will read some more tonight. All of the scientific stuff blew my brain and I didn't understand a lot of it. So hopefully once they start telling about the plan I will understand it.

    CC,

I hope you do get awarded that would be so cool. You have worked so hard to lose this week. Keep up the great work and you deserve all the awards coming to you. Can you believe you have a chance to be queen wouldn't that be great. What an accomplishment. You go girl.

I did great today back on plan. I had my day off yesterday. I got some stuff for tossed salad so I can have some of that this week with my dinner with the ff french dressing. I am going to try it. I tasted it and it doesn't taste bad. We will see once I pour it on my salad. Never had french before. I stuck to both the WW plan and the SB plan today. I switched from the peanutbutter to the tunafish. It has a lot less sugar. I was using jiff I lost weight eating it because I only used 1 tablespoon. But to be legal it is supposed to be the all natural kind and I hate that. So I bought the lite mayo and used that on the tunafish. It was nice having a different sandwich. You get a lot of tuna in the single serve cans. It is just right for me. I don't like a dry sandwich. So hopefully the change will show this week. I will exercise tomorrow morning before church.

Have a great night everyone. How is your weekend going everyone?

  • Dear Flatlander (or anyone).....could you please write out the TOPS pledge for me.

I want to print it out - it makes soooo much sense. My new chapter doesn't open til Feb. 6th, and I can't find it anywhere.

Peanut butter is something I MUST have about once a wk., it calls to me from my pantry (approx. 8:00 PM), and I MUST have it - either on a cracker (or 2), or a couple of sticks of celery. It's like a chemistry thing. Does this make sense to anyone?

They are opening a group in our seniors centre, had an orientation last Wed., but will take a couple of wks. to set it up and everything. Do they take a before picture of everyone, or is that up to us. I'd love to get my hands on old TOPS magazines, anyone got any ideas? It's the most motivating magazine I've come across anywhere (including the WWatcher mag., which costs an arm and a leg). Will be a real treat to belong to a group that's motivated by success and not the almighty $$$$.

    See u all tomorrow.
