Far Out Friday!
Goooooooood Mooooooorning Everybody!!!!!!!
Rise and shine!!! Hope those of you who had Thanksgiving yesterday enjoyed it to the Max! Sending out a mega-watt shot of this board's famous {{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{{vibes}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} to you all. (Who invented those anyway? I love 'em) Eleni-Where are you? I miss you! Mickey-Thank you for your support, I really was upset over the whole thing. I am OK now. Sherri-Glad you had a great Bday! You deserved it. Christie-How are you holding up? Is the new job all you hoped for? Nita-I am with you on the cookie baking/eating. It is going to be very tough to make it through Christmas, I am looking for good alternatives and will post some recipes if they taste test OK. Summer-C’mon tell the truth, you really were a Cheerleader in High School, you are soooooo upbeat. To all the newcomers, (I am new too) you have found the most incredible group of supportive people, keep in touch and good luck on your journey. How about an exercise challenge? Crunch Week Challenge: do as many controlled upper crunches as you can in 1 min. for a week. I bet you see a big difference by next Friday, and it is only 1 minute of your day. Instructions: Crunch Sit-Up Lie face up on the floor with both knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Place your hands behind your head. Contract your abdominals, raising your shoulders up off the floor. Keep your head in line with your spine - do not tuck your chin in to your chest. Move your shoulders and head up as one unit. Hold for 1-2 seconds and slowly return to the starting position. Your lower back should remain in contact with the ground throughout the exercise. This is not about who can do the most, just about doing it. I just finished my ab routine, 450 crunches. When I first started I could maybe get an eighth of the way through it (on a good day) Now the last sets of 25 I take a little break around 18, but I can do the whole thing, start to finish. Anybody up to this? Have a Far Out Friday everyone! CC |
I'm game
I'll take you up on your challenge and it will be a challenge. :dizzy: I haven't done crunches for I don't know how long, but I wouldn't be in this shape if I had.
So here goes, 1, 2, 3, 4. Let you know how I did later. |
CC,
First of all I want to answer your question about the vibes. It was summer that started it and it was a great thing. I know you agree with that one.:dizzy: I will take you up on the crunch challange. I started last week doing crunches and I went to 50 and then went back later and did 50 more. But I will see how many I can do in 1 min time then I will report back. Okay I guess it is only a min so hold on and I will do them right now while I am thinking of it. Okay I am done. I completed 50 of them. It doesn't take long to do them. You can't possibly get done 450 in one min do you? It is easier to do them in sets then take brakes while doing them. I think this is a great idea for a challange I love it. Glad you came up with it. Also I am so glad you are feeling better about you and I hope you continue on with your group. If not then maybe you can find another group to go to that would be more supportive. But I think the honest thing about our groups is that we all get more support from these boards then we do from our own groups. I get the support from them but only on the night of the meetings. We all need more then that. It takes getting support everyday along the journey to keep you going. And you are doing an awesome job at it. Keep up the great work. How far are you from goal 1/2 way? Myne, Welcome to the boards. I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is sherri and I am happy you have joined us. Hopefully your are full of support while we are full of support for you as well. We really support one another on this board and that is why it is so great. We all have our up days and our down days and we try to pull people back in when they feel like they are sinking and we cheer for them when they are acheiveing their goals. So hop aboard and enjoy the ride. How much weight do you have to lose to goal? My goal weight is 140 and I now have 40 lbs to goal. I gained a lot of weight back this summer and I am now just starting to lose weight again. Everyone here is wonderful and you will meet some great friends here. I am enjoying a fruit mix for lunch. I cut up an apple, orange, pinapple and I had a bannana also. So I have more then enough fruit in for the day. I am trying this week to have fruit for lunch so that I can get in more fruit and have a better loss at the end of the week. I did walk my 3 miles today also before I went to clean house. I had to work today. Have a great day everyone and did you have a nice holiday? Sherri |
Way to go Sherri!!!!!!
NO WAY do I do 450 crunches in 1 minute. LOL, 450 is my ab workout. Sorry if I made it sound that way! I do intersets: set of 25 crunches and set of 25 knee in crunches (x 3) set of 25 knee raised crunches and set of 25 bent knee raises (x3) set of 25 Left oblique crunches and 25 Right Oblique crunches (x3) = 450 mixed crunches, Every other day I do an extra interset of reverse crunches and bent knee situps. I haven't even taken my own challenge yet, I thought of it when I was vibing you guys, after my ab workout and I was in no shape to to do straight crunches for a minute. LOL, the point isn't who can do the most, it's just to get started. Physics- A body in motion tends to stay in motion, a body at rest tends to stay at rest. I am almost at the 65 lb mark and my 1/2 way was 51.5 lbs so I guess I am a little shy of 65% to goal. Keep up the good work. I will post my results tomorrow morning. Myne, welcome aboard! CC |
450 crunches.......WOW!!!! Good Job!
I showed a loss of 1.75 lbs at weigh in this morning. With a birthday and thanksgiving in the same week, I really worked at it. Now, I want another loss next week. CC.....that cake recipe that you posted sounds really good. May have to give it a try soon. I've gotten a lot of good recipes from these boards. WW has some good ones also. I love their 1 point veggie cheese soup. Sherri.... Your fruit for lunch idea sounds good. I have been hitting the veggies a lot lately. Til later Nita |
Nita, Wow! Excellent.
Those vibes are really paying off. The cake is really good, sometimes I make just the egg and cream part and freeze it in little cups. Got any cookie ideas? |
crunches
Hi everyone,
Well I managed to do 28 crunches in 1 minute the first time and then 31 in a minute the 2nd time. I am just so out of shape it is pitiful. But that is going to change. I need to lose 25 punds to get to my goal weight of 130. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I know that it is not going to be easy. I figure that if I can lose a pund a week I should make it by next summer and that is okay. I have lost this and more lots of times and a lot quicker, but because I didn't change my eating style I just gained it again one I went back to real life. I realize now that this is going to be a lifetime commitment and have finally accepted that. Oh to be one of those that can eat whatever they want and not gain a pound. LOL Thank you for the welcome to the board Sherri. I also feel that I can get more support from this board than I will at TOPS. Simply because I can access this board everyday at anytime. The meetings are good and I can learn a lot, but sometimes you just have to have that ongoing support. Bye for now, time to do some crunches. :dizzy: |
