Wow, today hasn't been much fun. My SO's mom made a VERY fattening breakfast: bacon, scrambled eggs, white bread toast... I made oatmeal. Then we went to church, after which I broke down and bought a sandwich from Subway (low fat, though, no mayo, 6 in subway club). Then I came home and proceeded to fall asleep. I haven't done my workout today, and SO's mom has been in front of the TV ALL DAY LONG, so I don't know if I'll be able to pop the DVD in. :( Right now, I'm not feeling good about myself at all. I know what I'm doing (eating right and exercising) is going to save me from a higher risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, and early death. But it's SO HARD not to eat badly when it's shoved under my nose.

MartiniTheRampage 12-18-2006 01:15 AM

I know what you mean, Tiffie. My family's Italian/from the east coast...:( So there's always lots of yummy pasta at my house! It's tough not to get a full plate AND stop myself from going back for seconds...because in my house you EAT, and you eat well. :p

Congratulations on the healthy choices! You'll thank yourself later.

Well, I ate pretty well today, but didn't exercise. That's my big goal, I need to exercise more!

loveandlaughalways 12-18-2006 02:26 AM

Hello all. Buurrrrrr!! It is 27 degrees outside and cold for us here in california. Especially without the joy of snow. bummer no snow. who know maybe we might see a glimps of snow fall. doubtful because everytime it rains it warms up. If my husband would move I would go where the snow is in a flash as long as its not too much snow. LOL

Jane 12-18-2006 10:09 AM

Good morning, ladies,

Mary Kate - I think the contestants on The Biggest Loser lose too fast, too, and we've always been told that isn't healthy, and is hard on your whole body, and doesn't give us a chance to change our eating habits. But it seems lots of peolpe get really excited about a quick fix, and that's certainly good for ratings. I don't watch the show, but have seen parts of it while channel surfing, and I can see where the excitement comes from. So sorry about the denial from your insurance. Hopefully, they'll change their minds after the new report.

Marti - I know what you mean. I've spent so much time and effort on the dinner for my friends, that I have let some Christmas prep slide. I'll be baking tomorrow and Wednesday and am lucky that my DDs and Gina bring dishes to help out. Do you go to your Grandpa's for Christmas dinner?

Sassy - hope you're enjoying your "weekend" off. Yes, I had heard that Peter Doyle died. That's too sad, and I have only 2 words to say about that: Holy Crap!

Michelle - I hope you're feeling better today. Did you get the cookies and potatoes made?

Lovelaughalways - I'm waiting for snow, too, and am going to make a snow angel with the grandkids as soon as we get any. I can't wait!! We live in the country, and can go sledding, too. Well, the younger ones do that, not me.

Martini - mmmmm Italian food! One of my many weaknesses, lol. I'm also drawn to Italian men, but we won't go there, haha. Btw, I think most of us here could say we should exercise more.

Tiffie - good for you, staying OP! Maybe your bf could ask his mom to lighten up a bit with the fattening foods. It isn't good for her, either. Or maybe you and he can get your own place and then you can call the shots. I know it's hard to be around foods like that. My MIL used to send over the worst foods - desserts and such - when she knew I was trying so hard to lose weight. Not being a compulsive overeater like me, she didn't understand the torment she caused. Anyway, good for you, eating healthily.

Alicia - just jump on in... as you can tell, we're a friendly group, and welcome you with open arms.

Sue - you should've stayed in Indiana, at least for a few more days. It was 67 here yesterday, but Neal says the cold weather will be moving in by Christams Eve.

Cristi - again, I want to say I'm thinking of you.

Hello to everyone else reading this.

Ah, so much to do, with so few left to do it, lol. I got side-tracked from my Christmas preparations when I spent so much time on my dinner party, but I don't mind. As I mentioned to Marti, I'm very lucky that Mary, Katie and Gina help out the way they do. Neal and Katie always help the DGDs decorate the sugar cookies. This year, all 5 of them are old enough to help.

I'm planning on staying home today and getting a lot done, until I have to leave for a meeting later this evening.

What are YOUR plans for the day?

Tiffie 12-18-2006 10:59 AM

Yesterday was a rest day from working out, so today I'm planning for cardio. It's so hard to eat healthily with everyone around me just NOT GETTING IT! I told my MiL to-be the REASONS why I'm doing this (to prevent higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, etc), and she replies with a "whatever works for you." ARG.

I think I'm going to go have some salad. I've taken to watering down a good caesar dressing, and it tastes great. Will be trying to keep my calories to about 1400 again todaY (was a little low yesterday). Also, trying to get in contact with an old friend/ex whom I haven't spoken to in over a year. I hope he's doing alright.

Good news: My own mom is being highly supportive of my diet and exercise plan. She's even going to work out with me on weekends. :) If only I saw her half as much as I see my fiance's family...

btw, Diane (MiL) is an avid smoker who says things like, "it's as hard to quit smoking as heroin" in order to enable herself to keep smoking. :( She's bad at doiing anything for her health. It makes my fiance and me worry.

Hello Ladies!

Too many posts to try and play catch up.

:welcome: to all the newbies!

Nothing much going on but wanted to pop in and say HI!

Is everyone ready for Christmas? I'm not, lol! Just wanting it to be over already, sort of. Wasn't really in the Christmas spirit this year. THANK YOU ROBIN & MINDEE for the cards. :thanks: :hohoho:

I hadn't been to It Figures in three weeks now and I decided this morning I need to get my arse back in there and stop at the post office on the way first (thank goodness-they were horrible and even worse when I finally got out of there) so when I got to where I turn to go to It Figures Charlotte was going to her car to leave. What? This was at 10:30 and she is usually open until noon at which time she closes and comes back at 3:00. Kind of pissed me off because this is a business and she doesn't run as such. She went in with another lady and that woman has nothing to do with it now because she needs the money and has to work another job. So when Charlotte has errands to run she tries to get someone to fill in for her or she closes whenever. Ummm, okay...I didn't know this was how she ran the place until I joined because I usually just went in at a certain time to tan. Anyway...so much for that. I am just going to get a work out at home today I guess. I've got lots to do around here. Well...

HAPPY MONDAY LADIES! Hope everyone has a WONDERFUL day!

Tiffie 12-18-2006 05:07 PM

Well, I'm having trouble making myself work out today... Could really use some encouragement. *pokes SO* I ate breakfast (a banana and a salad... I know i know, weird), but now I can't find a thing for lunch! Theres another banana and salad, but I don't want the same. And it seems I've had bologna sandwiches every day I've been over here! Won't eat a grilled cheese. There's no soup left. There's bread, and brown rice, and splenda, and a banana, and a bag of salad... arg. I also have some carrots in the fridge. Not really enough to make an actual meal with. :dizzy:

loveandlaughalways 12-18-2006 11:32 PM

Tiffie- I fhave found lean cuisines a life saver when there is nothing else to grab for in the fridge as long as you don't make a habit out of it; it is satisfying and fast.

FrouFrou 12-19-2006 01:05 PM

Hello ladies...

Again, not much going on. Have a busy day ahead with cleaning and such around the house and that's about it. Not going to attempt going to IF until after the holidays.

Thank you Jane for the card.

HI to everyone! :hohoho:

Have a good day!

Tiffie 12-19-2006 07:30 PM

Thanks for the encouragement. I was bad last night and totally broke down. Had fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy, and didin't do my workout at all. :( I feel so disappointed with myself, and SICK! Blegh. If I'd known I'd feel like this, I might have just stuck to the taters. Today, I don't feel well. I wish I had eaten better last night, and then I'd feel better today. :T Well, lesson learned.

Jane 12-19-2006 08:14 PM

Hi ladies,

Cristi - you're welcome. Seems like there's too much to do, and time's running out, lol. Well, actually, all I have left to do is some baking. I never did get that done. So tomorrow's the day, since I don't babysit, and don't have anything else major planned.

Tiffie - brown rice and veggies makes a nice meal, if you add a little protein. Even an egg would round out the meal. As lovelaughalways said, the frozen diet dinners are ok in a pinch. They're loaded in additives and sodium, and stuff I can't pronounce, but that would be much better than potatoes with gravy, etc. I see where Kashi is making some "healthy" frozen dinners, and I plan to research them soon to see how accurate the claim is. One thing that may help you quite a bit is to plan ahead for each meal and snack. Do this in the evening for the next day, if possible. It's much easier to stick to a plan if you actually have one in place.

Hello to everyone else reading this.

I had lunch out with friends today, and now Neal and I are babysitting Mary's rugrats. They are so sweet! And very excited about Santa, lol.

Mt. Washmore is for sure on my list of things to do tomorrow, and so is the baking!

Toodles, chickas! :)

Sassy_Chick 12-19-2006 08:40 PM

Hey all,

Just a quickie here. Wanted to pop in and say "Hi" to everybody! I hope your all ready for the holidays because I surely am not! We don't even have our little tree up yet! Just haven't made it over to the storage unit and now its getting so late, we're debating about just skipping putting it up. But I told DH its up to him, yes its the little tree, but he is "Mr. Christmas" so if he wants it, then I figure we can go and get it, but he is thinking on it.

I need some motivation to finish up cleaning the bathroom and organizing my linen closet. I do have most of the laundry done! :carrot: I just need to get motivated to finish.........

Well back to work, ttyl and Have a Happy Holiday, everybody!

:tree:
