Hmm, I think you're right about the slitty sleeves. Which I of course read at ****ty sleeves.
Would the table be just as useful to put things under and then cover with a big purty tablecloth/spread/great big area rug gift card? Then you could still use the top for gewgaws and knickknacks and whatnots.
Also you could use it for frippery, doodads, furbelows, gimcrack, baubles, trinkets, flummery, bric-a-brac, bibelot, kickshaw, yes, kickshaw, or even objet d'art.
How about clutter? I have old Coke cans and unopened junk mail and stamps iwth American flags on them that I have no idea the worth of ... can I just put that stuff there?
Kiwi, it's only to be expected that you would misread that word as we recognize what we already know. We gave the kids Christmas cookies and the only shaped like a Christmas tree was seen as Christmas pizza. Same shape. They told me it's because you eat pizza on Christmas.
The slitty sleees will fall into your pizza topping.
okay--you all know that the only thing to do with clutter is to GET RID OF IT----AND SOME OLD BAG-NAG HAS GOTTEN HERSELF RICH HARPIN ON IT----THROW SOMETHING OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! { I am well aware that you will not take this under advisement!!!}
Voting for the eggplant non slitty sleeve look...
Cowie, I may have ta get on my broomer (or as us modern witches do..my swiffer) and come declutter your storage areas to make room for more frippery. Under the bed, under the kitchen table, put a cooler in a cooler, use the cooler to put mail in. decorate the cooler and make it your mail box. I know I am just a fountain of useless information.
Lard cakes sounds like an unkind term of endearment. Although said in German it sounds cute.
Ooo. I like Shots' ideas. If only the coolers weren't the same size. I am thinking of putting the brand new tags-on beach chairs (my cousin sent them to me last birthday) out by the street and someone will grab them up. But I won't do that. Maybe I'll take them to someone else's street and do that.
Decorate the coolers though ... hmmm ... wickery would be nice.
We keep our lawn chairs outside. Not deliberately-- every time I take them in, one of the kids takes them back out.
Can the coolers go under the new daybed? We also like our coolers. We have three larger ones and two smaller ones (I use the smaller ones as lunch boxes.)
I'm ready to get rid of clutter. Librarianship is teaching me that we really don't need to keep everything. If I can get rid of books at work, then I can certainly get rid of clothes at home. Right?
Also you could use it for frippery, doodads, furbelows, gimcrack, baubles, trinkets, flummery, bric-a-brac, bibelot, kickshaw, yes, kickshaw, or even objet d'art.
Don't forget flotsam, jetsam and detritus. We have tons of that. Or them. Or those.
I'd go for the gauzy eggplant top, too. Those slitty sleeves would drive you batty after a while.
Yesterday we all had a little "talk" about certain people bringing more and more crap into the house (coolers and deck chairs, for example) without throwing anything away and I said "I'm starting to feel like there's no room for me any more, like I'm reluctant to buy anything for myself because the house is so full already." That hit home. For once. We'll see.
Lard cakes are little bits of batter fried in hot lard. Like fritters, I guess, but smaller. They sprinkle powdered sugar on them afterward and sell them in paper cones. Mmmm.
Cherry - your snow is SO pretty. We're still doing 16°C here. Say a big hello to global warming.
We'll be leaving for the Xmas market in 15 mins. 7 minute walk down the road. I can smell the bratwurst from here.
Sounds purrrfectly quaint Sug! hmmm, we call lard cakes, funnel cakes... or Zeppoles...ah but then ya got yer elephant ears, churros, and fry bread...
A quick way is to take those pillsbury bisquits in a can, make little balls out of the dough, fry and powder! A quick artery clogging treat.
They told me it's because you eat pizza on Christmas.
Dang, that's sad.

Right?
Right!!! I threw away an old pair of sweatpants the other day. I wouldn't mention it, but it was the first piece of clothing I'd thrown away in a long time. Other than DH's Sunday underwear (you know, the holy ones).

I think they just call them Fried Dough around here, or Doughboys.
Anyone calls me Lard Cakes, by the way, gets a pop. In the ear.
Love the snowy house pic, Cherry!
Why don't you want these beach chairs, Peachie? You already have what you need in that department, or you just don't like beach chairs? We keep ours in the garage along with the coolers, the canoe paddles, beach toys, ice skates, sleds, skis, inflatable things, tools, building materials, gardening crap, garbage, recycling, and bottle return bins, detritus and flotsam and jetsam. Too bad we don't have room for the car.
