Hello and :welcome: to the Jaded Ladies site!
We are a group of ladies that come here for support and encouragement on our weight loss struggles, and we also find time for some chitchatting. So please, won't you join us? New members are always welcome. |
Good Morning Ladies!!
The sun is shining brightly today and it's down right cold!!! I keep hearing about a bad storm brewing but haven't seen it yet. Hoping it isn't as bad as they keep saying it is. Not a lot going on today. James may have to work so not sure what we're doing yet. Just got up!! We finally went to bed aroun 4:00 this morning!!!!!! Waaaayyyy too late for me! Sorry for not doing individuals at this time, I will catch up on then next time. Hugs to all!! |
MARTI...When I watched the news this morning, they said the storm will be coming in between 10pm Sunday and 2am Monday. They also said that we should be prepared for power outages, fun...not!!!
|
Brrrrrrrr
Hi Ya Ladies. Well the weather has changed here. Its cold and rainy outside now. I guess that explains why my backs been aching! lol.
The flu is going around work here badly. I sure hope me or DH doesn't get it!! Since our co worker called in tonight, we called our boss and she said we could stay over a few hours in the AM, if we wanted too, for some more OT. So she said she will leave it up to us and how we feel. ;) So whats up in the JL's world? Anything new? I hope you all stay warm and stay safe from the storms, Michelle! |
Just a "drive-by" posting again. I am not feeling well and haven't for a couple days. Can't figure out my problem...I feel very full, even though I haven't eaten much and have some high stomach pains along with my usual side pain. pain in my back also..up high. Ugh. Just not fun! I managed to walk yesterday anyway, but not today.
DH went to visit family, but I declined. I did bake a pie for him to take. Finally got the luggage...just a simple 25" rolling bag for each of us. I had looked a larger ones, but hard for me to handle if DH is not with me, and I couldn't fit everything into a smaller one. I have been told that I should be able to get 2 weeks worth of things in a 25" bag...yeah, well, I always take wayyyy to much when I travel. Talk to you all tomorrow.... |
Morning
Morning all.
I can't sleep. I'm sleepy, but I just can't seem to fall asleep. :tired: Ever be tired but you just keep hearing every single sound? That is me.......I know I need to go to sleep and my body knows it I just think my brain doesn't know it yet. lol. At first I thought it was the downstairs neighbors, but looked outside they are gone. So not sure.........Maybe its all in my head. lol. Sue -- Your pain sounds simular to what my DH had before he had his gallbladder taken out. Have ever had them check yours? Just a thought.... I hope you all are well. |
Hi everyone. Sorry to hear some of you are going to have storms tonight. I hope no one loses power...that is the worst. We didn't have power for 3 weeks during Hurricane Katrina and I couldn't stant it...it was awful...we did leave and go to my in-laws in Florida after a few days, but it was hard to that because you couldn't get gas anywhere between here and Florida...we actually ran out of gas 45 minutes from Pensacola, but my FIL had gas cans ready and brought them to so we could make it the rest of the way.
This weekend I have eaten somethings I shouldn't have eaten. Yesterday I took my son to one of friend's birthday parties and it was also my husband's brithday, too, so I was bombarded with cake...and I ate some...oops...I haven't had cake in probably 2 months....I hope it won't do too much damage to my weight watchers weigh in tomorrow. I did go walking this morning so maybe that helped a little. I hope you are all having a good weekend. |
Hello Ladies...
Not much going on with me today, taking it easy after yesterday. We finished off the gravel work. Still had some gravel left that needs to be raked in a pile and put under the deck but for the most part we got it all done and it looks good! And the parade was awesome! I was a little surprised at the low turn out but then there's never many people that go to almost any parade around here, sad but true. Anywho... MARTI & MICHELLE...hope the storms aren't too bad. I hate bad storms and once in a while we get them here. It's been a while thank goodness. We are supposed to get a little bit of rain, not enough to say we actually got any but anything is better than nothing. It sure turned cold though. I was enjoying the 70's and 80's last week. SUE...hope you get to feeling better soon and figure out what is wrong. I hate when I feel bad and can't put my finger on what is wrong. Glad you found some luggage. Bet you guys can't wait to go to Vegas baby! SASSY...hope you managed to finally get some sleep. I had a night like that a few nights ago. I tossed and turned all night and finally went to sleep about 4 a.m. I went to bed at 10:30 and kept hearing noises. Half the time I think it is the kids but this was coming from out front. Every time I looked out the window I saw nothing. Of course that was the morning I had to get up at 7 a.m. But I did sleep good the next night! MELODY...I wouldn't think a little bit of cake would totally mess up your WI at WW. Especially since you said you went walking...you probably worked it all off so don't fret. That must have been scary...the whole Katrina thing. My heart went out to all the people when that happened but it seemed like everyone was so focused on New Orleans and we didn't hear much about MS or the other places, not much anyway. The whole thing was so sad. I just saw Friday night where some of the people have finally gone back only to be screwed again by contractors. I honestly don't know how people can take advantage of people that are already down but trying to come back. Hi to everyone else  Hope all is well with you and yours in your corner of the world. Been trying to read a book I checked out at the library. Hoping it gets me in the reading mood. Of course after reading a few chapters I hope it doesn't make me cry. It's about a woman who wants a baby and feels God kind of missed her prayers. She is surrounded by family who have lots of kids. It's called When The Heart Cries by Kim Vogel Sawyer...a good Christian read. I've got tons of books that I have bought and need to read but this grabbed me while I was there. Anyway...no special plans for tomorrow. Going to clean house and go to It Figures. And if I hear back from this lady (Jana) I am going to go to a Blue Star Mothers Chick Flick & Chili night get-together. You will not believe how I tried to find some sort of support group for Military Moms in Wichita. I was reading the paper and in the Community section on Thursday this was there. I was so happy. But we've been playing phone tag, lol. It sounds like fun though and I look forward to it. Take care ladies   |
CRISTINA...At first I didn't know it was you, because you changed your name LOL! When did you change it to your new one? Our weather is starting to change right now, pouring down rain and the winds are picking up. This is the best weather to pick up a book and just lounge around.
SUE...I hope your pain is starting to let up and you're feeling better. You need to get better for your upcoming trip. SASSY...Sorry your nice weather is changing, because I know how the cold can really affect the way I feel too, but then, so can the horrible heat too.:dizzy: MELODY...Treating yourself once in awhile is absolutely find IMO, and it's been two months, so I'm sure you were fine. Not much going on here today. I started back with my exercising yesterday, but I usually take Sundays off since the whole family is home.:D |
Tgimmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey Gals! T.G.I.M!!!!! (Thank Goodness It's Monday!!!!!) I could not wait until 4 AM hit and I could sign out of my phone! Lets just say I am so happy to be home and not on the phone! lol.
Making me some coffee. I know stupid since I am going to bed in a bit, but I am craving it so I'm going to have a cup or so and if I can't sleep then its okay because I am OFF for 3 days!!!!!!!! :dancer: Oh and I finally did get to sleep around 10 AM. yesterday morning. Its 36 here now. But its okay. It feels like it should be this time of year. I actually want to be cuddled up with a cup of coffee and watch some tv. ;) Have a Wonderful Day! |
SASSY...SO glad you have three days off now, because I think you're really needing it!!!;)
Well we definitely got our big wind and rain storm last night!:o In our area, we had wind gusts up to almost 60 mph, and there were lots of trees down, and some went through people's roofs. Our lights flickered about three times, but luckily we never lost power. The coast is where it was hit the hardest. The beach we always go to had wind gusts of 88 mph, but one part of the coast had wind gusts of 102 mph. I'm just glad it's over and now today there is 100% chance of rain, but up in the 50s. |
Just a quickie this morning. The rain storm didn't affect us much at all except getting everything wet. I'm so far inland I guess that the winds just didn't get that high around here. (That or I just slept through the worst of it)
Better get moving. I got up a little later than usual and I'm behind. Have a great Monday. |
Marti and Michelle - my daughter lives in Eureka, CA, not far at all from Oregon. Are you far from there?
|
Hi ladies,
Too many posts since I was here last to try and keep up, but I'm so glad to see all the posts. The weekend was hectic, but fun. Then today, I took the twins to preschool for Mary then got my hair cut and visited with my sister while I waited for the kids. Their school lasts only 2 1/2 hours. It's sort of cold and windy here in southern Indiana, but since it's almost the middle of November, I guess it's supposed to be this way. What are everyone's plans for Thanksgiving next week? Have a good day, and I'll chat to you later. |
Hello Ladies...
MICHELLE...I asked Suzanne yesterday to change my username. I use this one a lot on things and have always liked it. Was thinking about changing my e-mail address to it. Glad you guys didn't lose power. We have a few times but I always keep candles around and we have two oil lights that we have used probably about 3 or 4 times. One time last year it went out for about 3 or 4 hours. I was just glad that I had a pot of chili for dinner already cooked in the crock pot. SASSY...I've never been a coffee drinker. I think it smells soooo good and have tried it a couple of times but I could not stand the taste, ick! Have you seen that Wrigley's has a new coffee flavored gum? I saw that when I bought gas a few days ago. I asked the cashier if she had tried it and if it really taste like coffee. She said yes, and if you don't like coffee you won't like the gum. Glad you finally managed to get some sleep. MARIA...Eureka, CA is a BEAUTIFUL! I miss CA...lived there for about 20 years if not longer. JANE...we are going to have Thanksgiving dinner...just the four of us, but I will be thinking about Josh as I always do. Then me and Vince are going to do Christmas lights outside. This year we are doing the icicle lights around the whole house...something different even though I prefer color lights. We've done the same thing the last two years here and wanted to try something different. Then we'll put green lights in the two fronts trees, and red lights around the window and garage, I have candles for the back windows and red and green lights around the sliding door with the icicle lights around the deck. I hope we always decorate our house because it cheers me up and I love doing it for the neighborhood. Hi to everyone else  Not much going on today. Went to exercise and am happy to say I am down 1 pound! WOOHOO! :carrot: :carrot: Now to keep going down. Who knows, maybe I will make my Christmas day goal. :crossed: I haven't straightend up the house yet. Had to run to Walgreens to get a few things for tonight. I finally talked to Jana...the lady who is hosting the Blue Star Mothers and we will be having some chili, watching a movie, (yeah right!) and packing a box for our son or daughter. So had to pick up some things for those boxes. And I am supposed to take something for dinner and had no clue what to take so I made brownies and pound cake. She had told me that they are relatively new and just starting out so there are only 6 of them so far and they only meet once a month. Anyway, I look forward to meeting them all and finally chatting with other mothers who have a son or daughter that is deployed. Anywho...don't want to go on and on. Take care ladies...see ya!  |
Well, I weighed in at Weight Watchers and amazingly I was down 1 pound for a total of 18.5 since joining Weight Watchers 8 weeks ago. I need to lose 5.5 more to reach my 1st goal (10% of my weight lost). I am hoping I can do that before the end of November. I am going to try harder this week to stay in my points range and to walk more. It was dark today by the time I got home so I didn't walk today, but I am going to try tomorrow. Also, my husband put up a badmitton net yesterday so I may play a game of two with my son...he's still little so he's just learning.
I hope you all had a good Monday. I am so ready for Friday though because we are off from school for a whole week next week!!! I look forward to a whole week off, but I also worry about eating too much when I am home all day. I am going to have to keep myself busy, busy! |
Good evening ladies. Glad to see everyone posting. Sounds like all are well right now. I am better, but still having pain occasionally. I am convinced that my problems are from my gallbladder, but every time I have had tests they show nothing with gb. Yeah, right, that is why I hurt and feel nauseous. Told DH I am just going to go to the ER if it gets so bad again.
I did get a nice walk today, even though it was darn cold. Mom told me I needed to buy long johns...and she might be right. Brrr. I am having Thanksgiving for us, DD and her family of 6 and her grandma and aunt. (my ex mil and ex sil) Just started my lists today for shopping. |
Hi all,
WHEW I haven't been here in so long that I don't know where to start. Sorry about that. I am not very good with keeping up with forums (booo me) but I ma so busy around here that by the time I have a minute I want to be smothered in a down comforter and catching some ZZZ's...lol So, I had my surgery last Monday--hysteroscopy and a D&C --The day of the surgery I couldn't stay awake, I just kept sleeping even when I was talking to people:o,embarrassing huh? Anyway, the day after that I was just fine. There was no pain at all. A little nausea from the anesthesia but that was it. oh and some bleeding but you don't want to hear about that. The Saturday before the operation I took my hubby to the airport so he could go to Georgia for 3 months. Two days after operation Ben (my 20 month old) began to have high fevers AGAIN (it's about every 2 or so months it happens) Then on Thursday the 9th I took Melody (my 12 year old) to catch a bus to Escape camp--her first time away from me EVER! I was a little sick when I let her go. Believe me I tried to think of some reason to ground her or just tell her she couldn't go but she is a fantastic daughter and has done all of her work and isn't like most pre-teen/teenage kids who talk to their parents like they are trash. She even worked cleaning other people stairwells for 5 dollars a piece (a steal) so she could help pay for the camp. (We ended up paying and telling her that her $$ were hers to keep as spending money) I piced Melody up on This passed Sunday night--then at midnight I ended up taking Ben to the ER. Since he had these fevers before and the doctors didn't know what they were all about the last 3 times I went to the ER I decided to wait them out and administer meds and baths...etc until they were gone. They didn't go away. Sunday night he was playing with his ear and whining so I looked to see what was wrong. When I grabbed his ear, he cried and lots of puss came out. YUCK!! Away we went to the ER. Indeed he has an ear infection. We got some Amoxicilin, Motrin, and Dymatap and went home. I didn't have to give him the Motrin or Dymatap because his other symptoms went away when I started giving the Amoxicilin. Today is Tuesday and all are well in this house. The kids are doing thier chores without being beaten...LOL and my hubby is well. Of course, even as I type this my son, Bryan (10) has come in to complain about Melody throwing his hat in the dryer. Yep!! All is back to normal:D I'm sorry I can't do individuals. I don't have much time to read. I'm afraid I'm not a good forumist..lol It is overwhelming for me to have to read so much..LOL That's probably why I don't have a web site..LOL Anyway, to those of you who are wondering what happened to my scrap page I will say that you will get it. It will be an 8 1/2 x 11 page. Today is my scrapping / stamping day with a couple of ladies so I will get a couple of them finished today. I am very sorry for the long delay. Christina--I received your paged today. What a great idea to do digital and print it out. Do you have your own printer or did you take it to an office supply store and have them print them out? Next time I will have to do digital..LOL Last but not least, since this is a weightloss thread..lol I will anounce my loss of another 5lbs. That's 10lbs total. I am not doing any kind of "dieting" or calorie counting. Just exercising and watching my portions. Yes, it does take longer to lose but it will be for forever when it's all gone..lol I will fix my weight loss scale thing when I figure out how..LOL Have a great day. I will try to get on here at least once a day. Tiffany |
Hi ladies,
Tiffany - I'm wondering why you and Norma never got my pages? I sent them on 10/31, the day we all originally agreed on. Sue - hope all is well with your gallbladder. I remember when you first joined us, you had lots of health issues, so at least you're much, much better now. I'll be cooking for 14 people for Thanksgiving. I've got my turkey bought, and lots of the side dish ingredients, but still need to get a ham. Thank goodness Mary lives so close and can bake it in her oven, lol. Melody - yay for the additional pound down! They add up quickly, don't they? Enjoy your week off. The kids around here have only Thursday and Friday off. Do the extra days count as your fall break/teachers conference days? Cristina - you changed your name again!! A big WOOHOO to you for 1 more pound, too. I'm hoping you'll make your Christmas goal. I bet you do! Oh my gosh, I think the Blue Star mother's group is just what you need. How cool that you found them! I agree, I bet nobody watches the movie, you'll all be so busy chit chatting away. Sassy - I hope you're enjoying your 3 days off. Any special plans? Hello to Maria, Julie, Michelle, Marti, and anyone else reading this. Can you believe it's the middle of November? Where oh where is the time going??? I got my hair cut yesterday by a new stylist. (Mine doesn't work on Mondays.) Anyway, it's totally buzzed, it's so short, but I kind of like the freedom of that. I've been doing more Christmas shopping, and don't have a lot more to go. Katie wants Disney dollars, and asked that we give them to her dbf too, but the nearest Disney Store is in Indy! And no, they won't let you buy them over the phone or via internet. What a bummer. But I guess that's just a real good reason to go to Indy, right? I've been going over my T'giving menu, and have cut out some of the unhealthy stuff that nobody is too attached to, but there are some dishes that if I tried to cut them, the fam would rebel loudly, lol. I'm still OP, and am doing the treadmill every other day, as prescirbed by my foot doc. Have a good day! |
Good Morning!
As usually I need to get a move on! I still haven't had a cup of coffee and that's just a must in my book. Maybe a piece of toast too! Hope all is well w/everyone! Holidays are just sneaking up on us!! I can't figure out how to stall time! Anyway...I will try to catch up on individuals when I get a chance. You all have a great Tuesday! |
Hello ladies...
TIFFANY...glad everything is well with you and yours. I don't know if I missed it but I didn't know you were having surgery...glad it went well. And glad you received the pages. I actually took the originals to the scrapbook store and had them make copies. AND...WTG on the loss! :carrot: :woohoo: You're doing GREAT! MELODY...:woohoo: on the pound! :carrot: The cake didn't do too much damage after all. Badmitton is good exercise! I love playing but we just don't have much of a back yard to put one up. Of course I wouldn't have anyone to play with either so...lol! JANE...I am starting Christmas shopping in a couple of weeks. Don't really have anyone to buy for other than the kids and Vince so it won't take long. I will send my mom and dad something also but will probably order online and have it sent directly to them. Vince is **** bent on deep frying a turkey this year so we are going to try it. May be the only time, lol unless it is good. But I am getting a ham too just in case. I'm getting my list and menu together also...I think it's pretty much burned in my brain as we have the same stuff every year, lol. You know....I was thinking about going with short hair, just a little afraid. I've had short hair before but a little scared now for some reason. Glad you are getting some exercise in and the program is going well. :carrot: SUE...oh boy...I remember the days of having gallbladder problems, so glad it is over. Had it taken out in '95 and haven't had any problems since (knock on wood). I've heard a certain % of people still have problems after having it removed and DS is one of them. He has to be careful what he eats and how much. But I hope you find out for sure if it is your GB and they can do something. It's a terrible feeling for sure. Ah, your first thanksgiving in your new home, how exciting and fun! I remember our first one here...now, I can't believe this will be our third already. Time sure does fly. MARTI...and speaking of time flying...you are right the holidays have seemed to sneak upon us. I can't believe another year is almost over. Funny thing though the last couple of days I have been wanting to write 2007 on my checks and I did on one, lol. Don't know where that is coming from. MICHELLE...how are you doing today? Hope today is a good day for you. SASSY...hope you are enjoying your days off with DH. Be watching for the mail the next few days, I sent you copies of your poem. I completely forgot to for some reason, doh! Just mailed them this morning. HI MARIA, MARY KATE, JULES, NORMA and anyone lurking. Finally going to get some cleaning and organizing done today. I've been putting things off for too long now. Need to clean to get ready for decorating next weekend. WOW! That seems weird to be saying. I still can't believe Christmas is here already. Also need to get a walk in. I may do my WATP 2 mile dvd and a mile walk on the treadmill...the weather is not so great today. Supposed to cool down and rain later. Anyway... Have a great day ladies! |
Hello Ladies!
Hello Ladies!
Well yesterday I did absolutely nothing and it was GREAT! :carrot: lol. Today I should get something done I guess. lol. Yesterday I was definately in a "funk" though. I don't know what was up. I feel much better today though. As for any special plans on our days off -- nope, nothing nada, and we prefer it that way! lol. Oh we have a few things to do around the house but that is it! DH had to run some errands early this morning but that is all. Michelle -- thanks I think we definately needed our days off! More overtime this week as well on Thursday and Friday again. The guy we are working the OT for is still out. I figured he would be. He had back surgery and at first said he would only be out 2 weeks! I figured that was way too short of time to be out with that kind of surgery! So anyways it may be a while for him so not sure how long the OT is going to continue, but as long as we can claim it, we're going to take it! lol. Glad the storms didn't knock out your power or your roof off! Those poor people who had all the damage, I hope at least they all are alright. Sue -- UGH. Do I understand what your going through! I've had the same issues since I was a teenager! (off and on) They kept telling me it was my gallbladder but like you, it never showed a thing and it still doesn't! It is very frustrating to say the least! But I have had two endoscopy's done. The 1st time I had 7 ulcers! So I got that taken care of and I just had one last year and everything was normal, he said that my stomach was a bit red and irritated but nothing major. I am on Nexium for my Acid Reflux and so far it is helping me. So not sure what your dr wants you to do but I know that when I 1st had stomach problems, I used Zantac. You can get it over-the-counter. Its worth a shot, if you haven't already tried it! Also Phenergan has been my best friend. It is a presciption and it does make you very sleepy, but it will make you feel so much better! It is for nausea. So maybe you can ask your dr about it if you want. All I can say is do not give up. I know how aggrivating it can be to have the drs not find anything wrong and you still are having pain or nausea, but do not give up! Hang in there and feel free to PM me if you want and I can give you my email addy & my IM if you want it. Cristina -- Aw thanks. I kinda "forgot" about the poem myself, so no worries! Jane -- I haven't even begun to even think about Christmas Shopping yet! Of course we have it pretty easy this year, well at least number wise. We only have to buy for each other and my inlaws. That is all. Because we gave my mom a brand new computer and printer for her bday/mothers day/Christmas. I might still get her some lotion and what not, but nothing major. The biggest problem is my in-laws. I have no freaking clue what to get either of them except for gift cards and how unimaginative is that? lol. They are the type of people who have everything, but want nothing. lol. Also every time we have ever given them a gift, it goes into the cabinet/closet and doesn't get used or my mil gives it away. (she is notorious for doing this) Infact, one year she even gave me back a gift I had given her, she forgot that I had given it to her! I didn't say anything to her, just took it and went on. It did hurt my feelings, but after that we don't buy her nothing unless she specifically says she wants it. I am not wasting my time or money on someone who doesn't appreciate what I give them. What really burns me up is if one her "friends" give her something she doesn't like she still puts it out so they "don't get their feelings hurt" but if its DH or myself that gives it do her, she will just put it in the closet or give it away. Don't get me wrong I do like my mil, but she does annoy the crap out of me at times! lol. Well now that I've rambled on for days about my in-laws I guess I should go now! lol. I hope you are all doing well, keeping warm, and in good spirits. Also :congrat: on all of the losses! |
Hi JL's. Cold here and getting colder. I still got a walk in today. I finally weighed in today after taking some time off. Surprise! I finally got UNDER 170..by 2 pounds. I didn't think I would ever get into the 160's. Maybe I got there by being ill, but I also walked 7 out of 9 days. I will take it and hope to keep it up..er..down. :)
Sassy- Thanks...I do take Nexium for acid reflux. I also had Phenergan, but need a refill. I had the endioscopy which showed nothing. Then I had a hida scan and a sonagram on my gallbladder. Neither showed anything. After my brother died with liver and pancreas cancer at the same time that I was sick I asked my Dr. about that. He did tests on both and relieved my fears, but it did nothing to help learn my malady. I go along for quite awhile feeling great and then it hits and lays me low for a few days or weeks. Never bad enough to go to the ER, but just enough to make me feel blah! After $20,000 worth of tests you would think something would show up. Sometimes I think the Drs. don't believe how bad I feel...which really makes me see red. A no win I guess. (and before 2003 I really never had lots of complaints medical wise) Cristina- My DH is one who still has trouble after having his GB removed. He has side pain once in awhile. When HE had the pain they removed his even though the test only showed some inflammation. I can't get them to remove mine. Go figure. Jane- How do you like the new eating plan? I didn't get the book yet, but I do plan to. I haven't started thinking about Christmas yet. It is hard with everyone scattered. You are so lucky to have Mary and family next door. (and so are they!) Tiffany- Glad to hear that your surgery went well and didn't knock you for too much of a loop. I was sorry about the illness of your little one and hope he is doing well now. WOW...congrats on the 5 pounds!!! Terrific!!! I lost 2 pounds and am on cloud nine! Melody- I am so envious of you. 18.5 pounds is wonderful!!! I just lost 2 pounds after a reallll long time of trying, and I am happy with that. Keep up the good work. I have sure noticed that when I don't walk or do some form of MOVING I can not lose anything. I could live on celery and not lose a pound. :) LOL...not that I could live on celery. Marti- Hi...hope the coffee helped. I know I can't start the day without it. I finally managed to get us booked on a straight through flight to LV. We didn't want a layover due to taking the little dog....her first flight and our first experience with pet traveling. Mom was worried about getting her into the carrier, but she went in today and was carried around with no trouble. She is not a barker, thank goodness, except when she sees squirrels. I doubt there will be any on the airplane, so whew! SO soon we will be out of the cold and having our winter fun! DH assures me that he left the house out there nice and clean, so I won't have any surprises when I get there. He even did all the laundry so we have nice clean sheets when we arrive. Yay. Now, if I can just decide how to get everything I want for 4 months into a 25" suitcase. LOL.. Happy hump day tomorrow ladies. |
Good morning ladies...
I slept late yesterday (today, it's only a little after midnight but is the next day-Wed) and am wide awake. So I guess this will mess me up in the morning with sleeping in. Anyway, thought I would check my e-mail and check in here and see how everyone is doing. SUE...you know DS, Jason had one stinking attack and went to the emergency room and they scheduled him for a few days later to take his gallbladder out. I went thru years of pain with mine because they kept saying it was an ulcer and treating it as one. DD did too. Excpet they did just about every test and couldn't find anything. It took an ultra sound for them to find she had gallstones. Just took an x-ray for me but years before someone would do that, ugh. And my mother has the same exact pain but they can't find anything. And guess what...they treat it as an ulcer. But she has taken meds for an ulcer off and on for a few years now and still has the pain, crazy. Well, I know you guys are going to enjoy your time in Vegas. I think the doggie will be fine. On one of our trips to Georgia there was a lady that brought a dog on and I never heard one peep out of it. And...yay for getting in the 160's! :woohoo: :carrot: SASSY...good that you had a relaxing day of doing nothing. I think we all need to do that sometimes. I know I do anyway. Maybe your funk was due to the weather??? I know when it is dreary it puts me in a funk...that and not hearing from Josh in weeks. You know, I buy a lot of gift cards for my parents too. It's not that they don't appreciate gifts it's they are just too picky, especially my mother. Last Christmas I paid for two two year subscriptions to two of her fav magazines and she told me not to do that again. Ummmm, okay. She said she gets too much junk in the mail as it is, lol. So I don't try to figure out what she wants or likes anymore. If she doesn't want what I send, oh well. She can't say I didn't try. Hi to everyone else  Nothing planned for today except going to It Figures and doing some scrapbooking. I have some ideas for my album and I need to get to it while it is fresh on my mind. Plus I need to clear the dining room table before next week to start decorating for Christmas. Take care ladies and I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday! |
Good Morning Ladies!!
I had a restless night last night. So here I am tired. Bleh.... Maria--I have no idea where Eureka is....but I would have to say that I would be closer than Michelle. She's North of me somewhere, closer to the Washington border than the California border. Me...I'm right in the middle of Oregon. Cristi--Hurray for the scale going downward!! :carrot: As for the time sneaking up on us.....I say how dare they take me off guard! I'm not ready! This weekend Jhanai & I will be shopping around for James and her dad. Looking forward to spending time w/her! Melody--Hurray to you too on the pounds lost! Next week my DD only has two days off. Last week she only went to school two days. Having a whole week off for Thanksgiving would be nice. Wish I could do that for work! Sue--My sister had her GB (I believe it was her gallbladder) taken out a couple months ago. And she requested to keep it!! Now why on earth would anyone want to keep a Gall Bladder?? Crazy I told her. She should've been some kind of doctor. Sassy--I have it pretty easy w/the shopping too I suppose. I only buy gifts for James & Jhanai, and my niece and nephew. We do a gift exchange w/the large family. Otherwise I'd be in such big trouble trying to buy for everyone! So even though I haven't really started shopping, I don't have a lot of people to shop for. Jane--James & I have decided that this year Tgiving dinner we're cutting out things that we really don't need. We always have this HUGE dinner. It always ends up just being the 3 of us. Why would we need this much food?? So our menu is shortened and it'll be good and tasty like always! Hello to all that I have missed!! I need a shower before work so I better get off here and get going. You all have a great Wednesday! Hugs! |
Hi Gurlsssss
Hi Gurls. Well here it is a picture of our new car, well not ours personally, but its identical to ours. So it should satisfy you for now. lol.
http://www.theautochannel.com/cybercast/2006nyautoshow/images/nissan/nissan_altima.jpg Last night we watched the Da Vinci Code, finally. Hub bought it. We thought it was pretty good. Hub read the book too and he said where as the book is better, the movie was pretty good too. Sue -- boy do I know how that is. Going through test after test after test and what do they find? Nothing! But one ultra sound on my husband and they found his gallstones! I've had ton of ultra sounds and I'm sure you have as well! Its very frustrating I know! Hang in there! Cristina -- Right now as far I'm concerned my in-laws can just get a lump of coal for all I care! lol. Then they would probably say, "oh that is the wrong kind of coal!" LMAO! Just teasing. I'm not even going to worry about it as my mil isn't happy this year so nothing is going to make her happy. We'll be working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so not like it matters anyways! lol. Marti -- We went down the "gift isle" at Wal-Mart lastnight. You know that row they have all those prepacked things that are for gifts? They had some nice and cute stuff! Hub bought me a cute snowman tin with cookies in it. Not that I need or want the cookies, but I can always give them away @ work! lol. But the snow man tin is cute. :) |
Hi ladies. I'm still in my darn rut, eating stuff I know I shouldn't be. It's almost like I'm watching myself eat this stuff from outside myself. Does that make sense?? If anyone can relate to this, please let me know. I'd do anything to work my way through and beyond it!
Have a great night all! Maria |
Good Morning Ladies!
Can you believe that Thanksgiving is NEXT WEEK!!!! I don't even know what we're doing yet since I have no idea if James will be working or not. We may have Thanksgiving a couple days later. Sassy--Very nice car! Bet you just love driving in it and the new car smell.........My "new" car is two years old now!! I have 30,000 miles on it already! Sheesh!!! Maria--I'm sure everyone has felt that way! I felt that way just recently, over the summer. Hugs for you! I started walking more once we got our treadmill and it has made a big difference. Instead of eating, I'll hop on and walk. My energy levels have risen and that helps a lot too. So now I make walking a priority. I wish I had better advice for you. Because I know how you feel. In fact I know most of us know how you feel right now. You can always come here to "talk" to us instead of heading to the kitchen. How is everyone else doing this morning??? I need to get moving. Dogs need to potty and I need coffee! Have a great morning.....weekend is almost here. |
Just a quickie while I am here at work--it's lunchtime. You girls have been chatty--I be back when I can do a longer post but wanted to stop in and say hi!!!!
|
Hello ladies and a Happy Thursday to all
Not much going on. I did get my grocery shopping done today, whew! Apparently everyone else decided to do it also. I'm sure there are things I forgot so will have to get more groceries next week. Need to do it early though. I went a little later than usual and there were quite a few people. Not too bad though. I know it will start getting crazy there soon though. We'll have our Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and then the week after an early Christmas dinner for Josh...I think. Got an e-mail from him and he said he will be coming home soon. He didn't actually say this month or next...don't want to mention dates. So I have been on cloud9! :cloud9: Really have to get some Christmas shopping done for him at least, lol. Went to Michaels also to get a new Christmas wreath...didn't know they were on sale but glad they were. Then stopped by my neighbors house. He is in the National Guard and came hom this past Friday for good. So I gave him a welcome home card and talked with him for a few minutes. Anywho... MARTI...I know, the holidays are coming too fast for me. Hey, my "new" car is two years old also. I can't believe I have had it two years already. And some days I get in it and can still smell that new car smell...I love it! I've got 17,000 miles on it. SASSY...that is a pretty car. For some reason though when you said blue I thought of a pastel sort of blue. I almost got a blue myself but changed at the last minute to something I've not had before which is sandstone...kind of brownish. But I like your car, too pretty! I've got the Da Vinci Code book and haven't read it yet and I want to see the movie. heard it was good. I think every movie that I've seen that was made from a book the book was always better for some reason. I loved The Notebook book but only liked the movie. MARIA...I'm feeling in a rut myself. I know what I should be eating but I'm not doing it. My eating isn't out of control but I am not eating the right foods at all. I am sorry I don't have any words of wisdom to help you out. But we are here for you and I can give you lots of hugs      MS JULES...there you are lady! Was wondering what's up with you and how you are doing. Hi to everyone else, MICHELLE, JANE, TIFFANY, NORMA, MELODY, SUE, and MARY KATE. Well, ladies guess I need to get something done around here. Going to spend a few more minutes on the computer and get to work. Take care and I hope everyone is having a good day! |
Having an okay day here. It is cold and rainy. Ugh.. I also went to buy groceries and I think everyone in town was there. It took me forever. Like Cristina, I am going to have to go pick up a few things at another store. They just had a couple things I wanted at a way better price, so I will pop in for those things. I think I am pretty much set for now until we go West, grocerywise. Might need milk and eggs one more time.
DH got a small heater installed in out garage today to keep the pipes from freezing over the winter. It isn't a problem when you are home and using them, but when you go away they freeze easily. Anyway, he has one less thing to worry about now. I am trying to decide what to get the grands that live here for Christmas. I need to shop and get things wrapped before we leave. Then DD will pick them up when she puts her tree up.... Well...off to fix dinner. Hi to all! |
Hi ladies,
Just a drive-by post. I'm so tired! Seems like all I do is run, run, run. I got the groceries in for T'giving dinner today - boy was Walmart busy! I thought I'd get a jump on everyone else - HA! Fat chance! At least they still had the ingredients I needed. I need to clean this weekend - I'm way behind on that. But I may just kick back with a book, and a fire in the fireplace. Whatever you do this weekend, I hope you enjoy yourself. |
Looks like that was 3 of us shopping for turkey day fixin's. Store was busy here too. It is about 7 minutes from my house and I can usually shop in less than an hour. Today took over 2 hours. Yikes!
Tomorrow will be another day for errands, banking, etc. I hope to go to the library, t has been forever since I went. I trust everyone is looking forward to the week-end. I hope you all have a great one. We are going to my sil's Sat. for a visit. Then Sun. might be a nice lazy day. :) Best to you all..... |
Morning Ladies!
Morning Ladies! :coffee:
Well I survived my 12 hours........:tired: 12 hours tonight (Friday night) as well. Then more over time next week + holiday pay + time and a half! :comp: Its tough but the $$ is good, plus probably starting the last week of this month the OT will go bye bye so may as well get as much now as we can! lol. Thanks Marti and Cristina for your comments on my car! :D We like it! Yeah I don't do the Pastel blue, I'm more of a dark blue girl. ;) We need to go and get the car washed and vacuumed out. I know its kinda pointless with this weather but have to keep it clean! :) Cristina - Yeah I think most books are better than the movies, I guess because the movies can't fit all the info that is in the books in the movie and also they have to make a movie that "sells" so they end up changing a few things. But DH said the same thing you did about the Notebook, he said about the Da Vinci Code, he loved the book and liked the movie. *Sees Flash of Light* Was that Jules????? or was it Jane?? lol. Hi Ya Jules & Jane! Hey Sue -- I guess its only going to be DH and I this year for Thanksgiving Dinner. Well I know we're working on T'giving Day, but we WERE going to have dinner after T'giving, with the in-laws, but plans changed......(will spare ya the details) lol. Ah well DH and I can have a nice romantic candle light dinner! Hi to Everybody out there in lurkdomville! Behave...........;) |
Good mornin' ladies...
*whew* lots of posts to catch up on this morning :dizzy: Sue, from all the stories I'm reading on here, I'm kind of wondering if doctors treat GB problems like they do heart problems -- if men come in with a GB complaint, it gets taken seriously right away, but if women do, they are quick to dismiss it or think it must be something else. Glad you are starting to feel better, though. When do you leave for Vegas? Maria, I agree with Marti, we all feel out of control from time to time with our eating -- I feel that way a lot! One of my biggest problems is that I love to cook, and love cooking for family and friends. So, I just look for WW friendly recipes, or work on revamping old favorites. Speaking of which...if anyone has any good Thanksgiving recipe makeovers, maybe a better, healthier way of making an old favorite, please post it in the recipe thread. Sassy, yay for all the overtime pay! But don't wear yourself out. Last year I finally decided to make it easy on myself and send gift cards to my mom, Tim's mom, and my sister and her family, rather than trying to send packages. You never know if something will fit, or if they have one already, and they might have trouble exchanging it, etc. My sister was particularly thrilled because she got to take advantage of the after Christmas sales. She's like me...the girl loves a bargain. :D Cristi, how did you like the meeting with the Blue Star Mother's group? If Vince is deep frying a turkey, I've heard the most important thing is to make sure it's not up close to the house, and that there is a LOT of clearance around the pot. I've never had deep fried turkey, and have heard they are good, but I think I'd have a back-up ham, too! Melody, way to go on the loss! WW is definitely the best plan I've found, and there is even a little wiggle room for a little piece of birthday cake, if you really want it, and count the points :hb: Tiffany, glad your surgery went well. I'm sorry to hear your DH will be away for the holidays -- I know you and the kids will miss him a lot. What is Christmas like in Germany? Jane, I can't believe it but I have most of my Christmas shopping done! :present: I have a couple of things to order online for Tim, and gift cards for our moms and my sister's family and Erik, and that's about it. Wow. I've never got it done this early. Kind of in shock. OK, I can't type anymore right now, so hi to Norma, Marti, Michelle, Jules, and everyone else! Hugs, Mary Kate |
hey all, just checking in while I'm at my parents. Puter at home is officially kaput :( new one will be gotten some time after the holidays, pray for my sanity between now and then...
I joined the physical therapy center's gym. I can't remember half the exercised the personal trainer taught me, so as soon as AF is over I'm booking 3 private sessions with the trainer and hopefully that will help me lock them into my brain. I may also see about videotaping them so I can replay them at home and work on them a bit more that way. As I "said" above, AF is here finally, full force. Yeck. I'm glad she's back but geeze, did she have to make up for the whole 4.5 months she was gone in the first three hours? I better get some weight loss out of this, that's all I'm saying. I hate iron pills and this stuff has got me taking them by the gross. :( |
Afternoon Ladies!
Hi Ya Ladies!
Yes your eyes are not deceiving you, its me. We are going in early today, surprise. lol. Actually DH is going in early to releive a co-worker that needs to be off early today and the new girl is there so she cannot be by herself yet...... I am going to take advantage of this time and drop DH off at work and head on to Costco and get some shopping done! ;) I will have 3 whole hours to myself to take my time and shop! Even though I KNOW Costco will be an absolute madhouse, being the weekend before Thanksgiving, but Costco is pretty big so usually even if they are packed, you can't really tell until you get to the checkouts. lol. Cristina -- Thanks Girlie so much for the T'giving Card and for printing out my poem for me!!!! Katie -- Hi Ya Chicy! Glad to "see" you. Yeah I know the OT is going to wear me out, but its only until after next week then its "back to normal" So I just have to do it for 2-3 nights next week but I will be getting OT + the Holiday pay so it will be worth it! Also we requested off Dec. 14-15th to celebrate DH's bday, which is on the 11th, we're just taking off the 14-15th so we'll have an entire week off. (our normal days off are Mon - Wed) So we can use that time to relax and catch up on SLEEP!!!!! lol. Today we got woken up to the sound of a leaf blower right under our bedroom window.....:tired: I know that we're in the minority working nights, but its just tough sometimes....... Aw well I'm going to go. Hi to Marti, Jane, Jules, Sue, and everybody else I forgot to mention! (my brain is a bit fried, sorry! lol) You ladies have a Great Afternoon/Evening! |
Hi ladies!
I went to It Figures and got in a work out. For some reaosn I woke up at 6:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I knew in my mind I had to get up earlier to go exercise because she is only open from 9:30-10:30 so maybe that was it. Didn't have to get up that early though and I didn't, lol. I was just dozing off when the alarm went off, bummer. Anywho...I do like getting up early sometimes. I get more things done. Came home and cleaned house and did a load of laundry so I did get something done. MARTI...hope you enjoy your weekend with Jhanai! JANE...hope you get to have a relaxing weekend. I can't wait for it to get cold enough for a fire, need to have our fireplace checked though. When we leave the pilot light on all the time I am always smelling gas, Vince doesn't but I do and I am a little leery with leaving it on constantly. We have a gas one that really is just for ambiance but it does put out some heat. Found that out that year when out heater/furnace went out last year on a cold winter night. SUE...oh my goodness...2 hours for grocery shopping?! :yikes: I always try to go early even though it doesn't always happen. I am about 5 mintues from Wal-Mart and I too usually get there and back within a hour. Unless of course I go to Michael's, lol. Glad there are no other stores I like in that shopping center. What kind of heater did hubby get? Do you guys have someone check on your house from time to time when you are gone? Of course I never thought about the pipes possibly freezing up while you guys were gone. SASSY...woohoo to 3 hours of shopping! We made a run to SAMS last night for a pumkin cheesecake and a...hmmm, can't remember what it is called. It's one of those lemony cheesecakes that Olive Garden has but they don't call it the same thing. Glad this is only for Thanksgiving! Anyway, it wasn't too bad. They actually had enough cashiers this time so the lines weren't long. Last time we were there the lines were long and they had three cahsiers...on a Friday. Anyway, have fun shopping. and you are welcome for the card and poem! :) MARY KATE...good to see you checking in. We miss you when you don't. But I know it is difficult to type for you. The blue star mothers was okay. They only get together once a month. Yeah, we are going to fry the turkey in the back yard on the patio...not close to the house. When we went to SAMS last night, waiting to get on the street across the way there was a guy BBQ'ing...I swear it looked like the fire was inches away from his back porch. I couldn't believe what we were seeing! :yikes: The flames were high and we watched him go inside and leave those flames like that right next to the fence and door...makes you wonder what people are thinking. Too, we see so many people BBQ on their deck close to the house or under the hangover...seen too many newscast where they were reporting fires because of that but people still do it. Anyway, it will be well attended and away from the house, deck, fence and pergola! Geez, lady, I've still not started Christmas shopping! MMKAT...sorry about your 'puter and that TOM is a killer this month. Hi to everyone else! Nothing much going on. Still trying to get my Christmas cards done. This is the most I have ever done I think. I've got about 50 for my military mom friends, then I've got MACS children, you ladies of course and then family, ugh! My hand is going to fall off I swear. I've not even started a letter yet. I plan on finishing up today though...gotta address about 20 more and stuff pictures in them. I'll worry about the letter in a week or so, there's still time. I just like getting it done early and getting it out of the way. Also have to clean Josh's room and get ready for his coming home. Can't remember if I mentioned but his room turned into a warehouse for care packages. His bed is covered, I've got magazines in his chair, a big bag of bubble wrap and boxes in the floor and I started a big box of Christmas stuff for his Unit. Going to finish packing that box and get their stockings stuffed and packed and tape up some boxes to clear his bed. After Christmas is over I am going to do themed care packages rather than try and send a little bit of everything over. Oh, a woman at Vince's work said her granddaughter is a teacher and wanted her class to make some Christmas cards for the troops, he brought those home yesterday. OMG, they are too cute. I want to hide most of this stuff from Josh so it will be a nice surprise when he goes back. I think I am going to be more emotional when he leaves this time. Anyway, I've turned into chatty Kathy...anyone remember those dolls? Take care ladies and I will chat with ya later. Have a GREAT weekend!  |
Afternoon Ladies!
Afternoon, Ladies!
Yes I'm up "early" again. lol. I could have slept in today, as we aren't going in early, but I woke up early. I guess because we pretty much went to bed as soon as we got home this morning, as we both were tired. Yesterday @ Costco they were packed, just like I thought they would be, but like I said its so big, you don't really notice too much, but I didn't stay long because of "other" reasons. I won't go into details but lets just say I was not too comfortable yesterday. So I got what I needed and left! That is a first for me! lol. And the register lines were not that bad!!!! I was only behind one person! So I think I got lucky! lol. Also lastnight I found out from a very reliable source that the new lady @ work, just like I thought (I think us women just have a "sixth" sense about this) that she is a little "too interested" in my husband. She is married and has a child, but I guess that doesn't make a difference. I heard that she "uses" her "femine charms" to get stuff or whatever. (she used to work there before and so some people who used to work with her told me this). I know that especially in the work place people like to start rumors but I've heard this from several people, not just one person. Also as women, like I said, we have a sense about people, especially other women. But she "took" to my husband instantly which a lot of people do, he is very friendly and outgoing, to EVERYBODY but as I told him, SOME women take that the wrong way and think too much into it. I totally trust him, so no issue there, but I do not trust some women and I know you ladies know what I mean! Also she is the type of person who makes anybody who isn't drop dead gorgeous (not that she is) feel like crap, well at least that is the vibe I picked up. I know some of you may say, "well you could be wrong" but I trust my instincts about this sort of thing and they are usually always right on the money and so far, I've been right. Anyways, luckily we only see her "usually" only 2 hours a week, just this week we had overtime so we saw her more than usual. So I hope you all are doing well and keeping warm! I think tonight we're supposed to get snow? :snowglo: Or a chance of it anyways?? Take care! |
Good morning, ladies!
Pretty quiet around here...where is everyone? Heeeelllllloooooo....:mag: Guess it's just me and you Ms Sassy. SASSY... you are right and I concur! I think a lot of women take friendly as being interested in you. My first DH was a big flirt or so I thought in the beginning. It was just his personality but people took it as something else. V is a sweet, caring guy and I think women take that the wrong way as well. He'll do anything for anyone but yeah, you are right in that we can sense things in others, not just women but people in general. Sorry you didn't get to stay longer in Costco...when we go to SAMS I love looking at everything. The thing with them is they change a lot of things at times so sometimes there's lots of new stuff. Nothing going on with me. I was tired and thought I was sleepy when I went to bed to find out that I wasn't after all. Layed there a while wide awake so decided to get up until I felt really sleepy and I am getting there. Mowed the front and back yard today and did some weeding and other yard work. Okay, this time last year there was no more mowing the week of Thanksgiving, actually I think the first of November. We usually put the winterizer on the lawn and are done with it until spring. This is the second time I've mowed this month and may have to again if this weather keeps up. Not that I am complaining because it is nice. I am hoping the forecast doesn't change because it is supposed to be 68 on Thanksgiving day. That will be the warmest we've had in years to be out doing lights so it will be nice for a change. Anyway, I've got a busy week ahead and will try to check in when I can. Going to go order a cake for Josh tomorrow and put it in the freezer for when he does call. I know it will probably be a few days after when he said he will be home but I will be ready. Spent most of the day outside today so didn't get to cleaning his room, have to work on that as well. And go exercise...she's going to be closed Thurs-Sun I am sure so will have to go M-T-W which is going to be a killer. Wednesday I will do some prep work for Thursday and the baking. Not really much baking to do though. Anywho... Tomorrow is WI for me and I am hoping to see a loss again this week. :crossed: I did pretty good this past week so we'll see. Need to get in more walking for sure though. And, I will try and take it easy on Thanksgiving and not over do it. HI to everyone  Take care and I will chat with ya's soon. |
