AquaChick! - :nono: You can't be flashing people in the grocery store. Your husband will not like it! Congrats on yet another nsv. It feels good, doesn't it? I'm glad that we're all starting to see the fruits of our labor. Thank God! I'd hate to think these emotional roller coasters we're on are for nothing! Great job chicky!
I've never been to a Chevy's. I'll have to look it up and see if we have one in the Metro area. Don't you just love an alernative. We don't have to eat all that fatty stuff. A tablespoon of my low fat sour cream is 20 calories and 1.5 fat grams. That's huge trade off. Especially considering that I don't really care for low fat salad dressing. And fat free just makes me gag!
You're just smokin on that tread sister! Once I'm wamed up, I love the way it feels to jog in place.

Hi Bonnie - Glad to hear you're back in the game. I'm glad all the chaos didn't make you throw in the towel. I've blown many a weight loss and fitness plan over a bad incident. Only to revisit it 20 - 30 pounds later. I just love your focus and commitment to making your life better.
BTW, you're going to love high speed internet. I'll never go back to dial-up. High speed internet (or dsl if I must) is one luxury I'll have to always hold on to.

Danielle :bravo: - Congrats on the loss lady! That exercise paid off!

Melissa - You gave us some timely advice. You're right. It's really tempting to wind down this time of year. I'm always thinking of wrapping up in a wool blanket on the couch in front of the television. Comfort food on hand. You always keep us in line. Make sure you start giving yourself the same care. I hope you feel better soon.

 My dang blasted scale has not arrived yet! The one I ordered that measures body fat and weight. I'm sort of glad in a way. If it's not here I can't use it every 2 hours. I'm going to start laying off the scale until weigh in days.

sapphire35 09-08-2006 12:06 PM

Hi Amanda: I didn't forget you.;) You were in my head the whole time but i forgot to post. I'm so proud of you for workout last night. I knew you would. It sounds like your stomach is shrinking, so that appetite is decreasing is wonderful news. I'm in the same boat there, I can hardly eat anything anymore. Alls I eat for breakfast is fruit, plums, bananas, or blackberries. Maybe 1 packet of oatmeal on sunday with the baby. And I always pack a lunch and I make it very light just a meat, 1 large spoon of vegetables. For Dinner I'm eating meat again small portion, vegetable, and 1/2 a carb. Its working out great, I'm down 9 lbs all together in 3 weeks since I started. I like seeing the weight go down, thats what keeping me pumped up. Plus looking at your 19 to 20 lb weight loss. lol.

Take care!! We're counting on you and Aqua to keep us motivated!! I know thats a lot pressure isn't it? LOL. :)

Amany 09-08-2006 12:10 PM

Hey Sapphire. I missed you while I was typing. Hope you're having a good day. I see the exercise bug has struck again...
Nine pounds in three weeks is outstanding. That doctor of yours will be very impressed on your next visit. All your hard work is rewarding you. Great job!
It's nice to not feel the need to eat everything in sight! I know how you feel.

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 12:25 PM

Sheesh! I feel like I've run 5 miles already and it's only 9! Of course there was no running involved but the whirlwhind that is my youngest DD makes me feel that way! lol She had school pictures today and of course nothing could go right. She spilled mouthwash on her shirt she was wearing, then changed what she wanted done for her hair, decides I get to curl it all over...mind you all this takes place 25 min. before she has to leave! She's in 5th grade! I shudder to think what high school's gonna be like! We've had this drama every single year for picture day since kindergarten, shame on me for thinking today would be any different. LOL So now.....silence.....just me, GMA, and the computer! :D

Brittni, heya sweets. Yes, I am definitely feeling better today, thank you! You will be burning calories doing that housecleaning today, throw on some music while you're doing it and burn even more!! You will find your groove soon, and exercise will become a routine. Hey, if I can do it, anybody can!

Aqua, I like your idea for the treadmill. That sounds like something that will definitely get you ready for running. Best of luck with the veggie thing...it is so not for me. Like Melissa, that's just asking for trouble in the gas department. Always remember that you are melting melting melting, no matter what that stinkin' scale says!!!

Tricia, it's good to see you today! I think once you get a schedule going with exercise it will become so much easier, I know you'll get it soon! Have fun at the birthday party, enjoy your friends/family as much as the food that I'm sure will be there. Why is it that whenever we start to cut down or limit our intake of foods, suddenly everything we see looks so darn good? lol

Amanda, Ok, I think I'm averaging a meltdown about once every 12 - 14 days. Would that be accurate? Ohhhhh Amanda, if only this were true for me! LOL I think I average one about every 3 days! I had a good giggle over that one, because my hubby constantly teases me about this! I told him that if men had to endure all that us girls do, they'd be crying like babies! Girl power! I too, loved the elephant analogy, it's perfect. So just keep munchin' chicky, you will get there sooner than you think. ;) You definitely need to be patient with yourself, but most of all BE KIND TO YOU!! You're an amazing woman with amazing spirit, don't ever forget it! It's just weight, lady, you can conquer it, show it who's boss!! Think Laila!

Bonnie, it's great to hear you back on track! I know the last few weeks have been strenuous to say the least, but hang in there. Look back at the weeks before at all the amazing progress you made, you can do it again! Enjoy the peace & quiet a little, I say some shopping is in order! :D

Melissa, hey girly. I hope that today you are feeling a little bit better. That dr's appt. can't come soon enough IMO. You've suffered for so long with it, I really hope it's nothing too serious. On the other hand I would hate for you to wait all this time and for those "brilliant" doctors to say, "oh, you just need to lose some weight". lol Hopefully there will be a fix to this sooner than later. Bob is still speaking to me, he whispers to me every day regardless if I choose to see him or someone else. I love my dates with him tho, today we have one for when I get back from the grocery. Yipee!

Kenya, it's wonderful to see you sweetie!!! How are you??? You're weightloss so far is truly amazing lady! Keep up the fabulous work, you are gonna be one hot mama!!!

Trish, yes, the pounds are slipping away, but I really wish they would just get up and run already!!!! lol Great job getting to the gym! I really hope you enjoy your water class, I hear that it's amazing. Let us know how it goes!

OH Aqua!!! I forgot to ask....have you found a translator for your chinese measuring tape yet? :dizzy: Maybe hearing it in chinese will sound better than english? lol

Alrighty ladies, I'm off to the grocery. I swear, I HATE going there! :tantrum: I feel like I am there so much. I guess it's the price you pay for eating healthy, no? Fresh food and all that? Anyways, you all be good and play nice!

BBL

iwantnewpants 09-08-2006 01:44 PM

I can't believe it's the afternoon already.....I was just getting ready to say "Good morning"! I've had such a hectic day at work....our docket clerk is gone, so in addition to my normal duties, I have to do all the court filings and deliveries too! Aghh! I'm the low man on the totem pole in case you haven't guessed.

Everyone has been posting like mad today and it's so exciting to read. It seems like we've all been re-bitten by the exercise bug. I was feeling bad last week and the beginning of this week because of my hip flexor, but it seems to have healed, so I'm back on the exercise wagon and my training continues. I have to do 18 miles on Sunday this weekend, so that's really going to be a challenge. I started walking at a slightly slower pace to keep my hips in good order. Hilarious. I'm like an old lady.

Aqua:  Way to got with the tape measure darling! I know the lack of movement on the scale is probably a little frustrating, but hang in there. The inches mean more than the pounds. And your clothing is a much better indicator of size than the scale. Scales are inherently inaccurate. At least that's what I choose to believe. Ha! No, they are. And, as your tape measure mocks you in Chinese, my scale mocks me in Swedish. It's so annoying. Sometimes when I'm trying to sleep at night, it starts singing. I think it's a big drinker. My scale parties way too much.

I've actually done the raw/veggie thing before and I loved it. I'm not a big meat eater anyway so it wasn't too difficult for me. The part that was really hard was staying on top of my groceries, so it got a little inconvenient with my busy schedule. I also found that it got a little expensive because I would eat things like avocado sandwiches for lunch. Quite a treat, I must say. If you are going to do it and are looking for a source of protein, I recommend salmon (if you're a seafood person of course). I don't know if you have a Trader Joe's grocery store or a Whole Foods around, but they both sell salmon patties. I know it sounds gross, but they're actually quite nice. I break them up in salads. They're a great source of protein and an excellent source of healthy fat. Otherwise, raw almonds or cashews.....both great sources of protein and healthy fat.....careful not to OD on these bad boys though. If you have any questions about raw eating, let me know! I have a great book on it that I can consult for you!

U2Girl: Good to see you back in action! :D

Brittni: Good to see you too! You will definitely burn some calories by cleaning! I wish I could be as motivated to clean as you! Whenever I get home, I just want to veg out and read or watch a movie. You'll definitely find time to work out as you get used to your class schedule. Amanda's right though, you have to make time for it. It will become part of your daily schedule and will be just as mandatory as getting out of bed. It's a great change though and you will feel wonderful!

TriciaK: Good to see you three! I think teaching is so cool and if I had to do it all over again, I think that's the path I would choose. In fact, I've contemplated going back to school so many times for teaching. Agghhhh. You'll find time in your schedule for exercise too. It's just a matter of getting back into the swing of things.

Trish: I am a MAJOR FB fan as well! I love it soooooo much! I love college, I love pro. I also love college basketball. Who's your team? I personally am a HUGE Bears fan. DITKA! He's my hero. He's completely insane. Did you watch the Steelers/Dolphins game last night? Man, Culpepper has lost some steam......

Melissa: Glad to see you in good spirits! How was the ice cream social last night? I LOVE ice cream. I think I would've eaten my way through the social if I were you!

Bonnie: Way to go on that walk this morning! I love walking. It totally clears my brain and allows me to process all the things that are stressing me out.

Kenya: So glad you're here! I know you'll be a big inspiration to everyone in this group. I can't believe you've lost almost 100 pounds. That is such an amazing accomplishment. I feel like you'll have some great advice on how to stay motivated and how to make it through plateaus....the whole nine yards!

Danielle: Way to go on those pounds and inches! You are awesome! :encore: That's such a funny story about your daughter this morning. I remember HATING school picture day. My hair always looked funny, I always looked pale or sick, and my mom made me wear funny clothes. Though, those are some of the cutest pictures I have in my scrapbook!

Amanda: I'm so glad you liked the analogies. My dad's a pretty gruff guy, so it's hilarious when he tries to be insightful. Bless his heart. And I'm so glad you're in good spirits today! Hooray! Oooo and I know what you mean about the salad dressing.....salsa is an awesome substitute! I also use straight balsalmic vinegar on occassion. It's amazing how those stupid dressing calories can sneak up on you! I'm doing the carrot dance for you right now! :carrot:

Alright chicks, I'm going to go grab some lunch!

Liz

Amany 09-08-2006 02:35 PM

Since it's football season, and some of you have mentioned football, here's a funny story...

One of Detroit's football coaches was arrested for driving drunk. AND STARK NAKED!! The guy just started and he's been arrested twice in the past week. He was fired from another team because of his drinking and Detroit hired him. Hmmm.... Thats our Lions! Go team!! :carrot: :cb:

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I've always wondered if Detroit is crappy on purpose. Even when we seem to have all the right elements, we still seem to lose. How does the team reward losing coaches and general managers? By extending their contracts and giving them millions of dollars!

The drama is better than the football.

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 03:09 PM

Amanda, your team & my team should get together! The Cardinals just got a big ole ginormous stadium built for themselves...and for what???? Nobody wants to play here, not even the newly drafted QB Matt Leinart. Well, I think after they dangled enough $$$$ in front of him he finally gave in, but sheesh! One of my all time fave players is here tho-Edgerin James- so I guess I'll watch some if I have to...I liked it better when he was on the Colts tho. Oh well, what's a girl to do, right? Football is huge in our house, this is the only time of year that dh actually takes those Sundays off! That is pretty funny tho about the Detroit coach, I wonder what is wrong with his mind, cause he sho' has lost it!!! :D

Liz, it's great to see ya toots! Yeah, I always hated school pictures too when I was a kid. I've never really "made" my kids wear anything specific, I am there to just "guide" them, as they say! LOL My 13y/o son is worse than the girls, always has! He loves the mirror! LOLOLOLOL He's gorgeous tho, so if I were him, I'd like looking at myself too! HA! I hope work isn't too hectic for you, it's Friday for goodness sake, time to let yer hair down! ;) I'm so glad that your hip is feeling better, cause Lordy you've got one heckuva walk ahead of you!! And hey, make sure you keep sharing your dad's pearls of wisdom because we sure are enjoying it. :)

Aqua, yes we have Chevy's restuarants. YUM. We don't go too too often tho because for some reason I cannot contain myself and end up making a piggy of myself. :ink: We have another awesome one just across the street from us, Abuelos. Now that's what I'm talkin about, they have themselves some awesome margaritas!!!! :p

Trish, 9 pounds is fabulous! :flow2:

Ok. Lookin' for a little bit more exercise? You can do what I did today at the grocery store. First off it took me forever, I couldn't seem to find anything on my list--for starters I was having a mild anxiety attack(long story--related to food & grocery stores)--and then it was hecka crowded. So I spent awhile going round & round the aisles..I think the employees thought I was there to just play or something. After about the 3rd pass on some of them, they started lookin at me funny. :p I check out and hike out to my car. Mind you, I always park the farthest that I can, its an old habit from years ago. One that I am actually proud to still own. lol. But anyways, so I get out there and start hunting in my purse for my keys....hhmmmm, no keys.....I look thru some of the bags on top, nope no keys...dummy me, figures I was being a ditz and left 'em on the little counter thingy...so I trudge all the way back with my cart--which is quite heavy with my bags and trays of water-- I get to the doors and I realize :fr: that the keys are in my right hand!!!!!! Can you even freakin believe it??? I was so embarrassed at myself that I practically jogged back to the car. LOL So that's my extra bit of walking today....ya'll can join me if ya want! ;)

Hun.e.B 09-08-2006 03:13 PM

LOL amanda my dh was just telling me about this last night I think it was. Driving nekked...Ha!! We are HUGE HUGE HUGE football fans here!! Go Broncos!!! I just love this time of year. I dont however love the snack spread we tend to have...wings, nachos, pizza bites and beer. Big nonoS!

I was just skimming posts before I gotta run and pick up balloon boquets so dont think I'm forgetting anyone!

Danielle...I'm kinda hoping that the doctor will tell me that if I just lose some weight the pain will go away...because beleive me you! Things will get radical around here if thats the case! That will be the easy way out, everything I've been reading looks like possible surgury...which again I'd have to lose weight before I even thought about it.

I had a thought today as I was walking to class. I was trying to think of the healthy choices that I make everyday even if I'm not exercising or eating like I should be. For instance, I always take the stairs in buildings at school. Not because I want the extra exercise but because I dont want people saying...oh look at the fat girl, no wonder shes fat she rides the elevator! See this is not a good way to think about myself. Yes it makes me take the stairs, but its negative talk and that will bring me down down down!

Okay...off to the party store!! I'll be back later, Danielle has a carrot dance on the books!! LOL!!

~melissa

Hun.e.B 09-08-2006 03:14 PM

Danielle...sharing a brain again I see! LOL!!

iwantnewpants 09-08-2006 03:15 PM

Oh Amanda! I totally forgot about that....that's right! I read about that in the paper!

I mean seriously.....who drives naked?!

Here's how the scene plays out in my head:

Police Officer: played by Kenny Rogers
Naked Driver: former Saved By the Bell star Mario Lopez

(Officer approaches car, taps on window with nightstick)
Naked Driver: "Good evening Officer, what seems to be the problem?"
(Officer stares blankly at Naked Driver)
Naked Driver: "Sir, I don't believe I exceeded the speed limit.....and I believe I had my turning indicator on when I made that left turn out of Arby's. Would you like a bite of my cheesy beef sandwich? A curly fry perhaps?"
Officer: "Sir, do you realize you're not wearing any clothes?!"
Naked Driver: "Sir, do you realize that you are the legendary Kenny Rogers?!"

End Scene

Wooo! It's Friday! I think I'm going to celebrate by riding the trian home nude tonight! :carrot:

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 03:20 PM

LIZ......

AquaChick 09-08-2006 03:21 PM

Amany- Yeah, I don't wanna flash anyone! :o Man, that could have been embarassing. I had a really long shirt on, but I tested what happened in the mirror. If I had been wearing a hip length shirt, my underwear would have been showing. lol... oh well. Now I know. :D

Yeah, it does feel good though. I keep trying to stay focused and stay fresh. I do the craziest things for motivation. Pictures, skinny clothes, thinking of people I want to see me... specifically people that think they are better than us chubby gals. ;)

Sugar-N-Spice- Highschool... girls... oh, wow. I don't know.... such a tough thing to be a teen in this day and age. All you can do is hope for things to go smooth without too much painful drama. I love teenage kids though. I used to own an arcade. I loved talking to the teens that came in. A lot of times they just needed some guidance to get through the hormonal craziness, and whatever happens in highschool. Half the time the kids came in just to chit chat with me.

You all are a bunch of gassy Gertrudes!!! I'm not gonna call your bluff. I will invest in either some "beano" or "gas X" right away. I'm not all that into the sound of bagpipes if you know what I mean. ;)

My husband speaks some Chinese, but he says he can't hear anything from the tape measure. Maybe it is not speaking in the dialect he learned... ;)

iwantnewpants- The day is moving fast for me too! Yep, I am feeling optimistic about my new routine now that I have talked to everyone today. I think we are all getting our second wind.

You have a Swedish scale?!?! Wow!!! Hmm.... perhaps it's a conspiracy against us American gals needing to lose a few pounds... where did I put my tin foil hat...I'm feeling vunerable now... lol :D

So, you've been veggie before! Cool! I have been doing it today. :) No problem so far. I made a pico de gallo, but I forgot the cilantro. That's okay though. I did dice up and Avacado and I added that to the pico. Had an apple, some greens, and a little bit of carrot, broccolli, cauliflower mix. All raw. Oh, and a jalepeno pepper. I will have the same thing for supper, along with a yoplait fat free yogurt. I have some sunflower seeds, but I need to go look for some raw organic almonds or something of the like. Hubby warned me too, about portioning the nuts because the calories are sneaky. Essential, yet possibly deceptive. That seems to be the trickiest part of the raw diet, not going overboard with the nuts, which have a lot of calories. I appreciate you offer to help me, and I might be calling on you at some point. This is something pretty different for me, so I hope I can do it.

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 03:22 PM

Melissa, you can have the brain for now...I'm out to lunch! lol

Amany 09-08-2006 03:23 PM

:lol3::lol::lol3::rofl:

AquaChick 09-08-2006 03:24 PM

Hun.e.B- Hi! :)

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 04:10 PM

Aqua, your conspiracy theory might be true. Now all you need is Mel Gibson and his foil room to come help you out! (ever see Conspiracy Theory?) Are you wearing your foil hat? I just finished making mine. :D Figured I was better off safe than sorry so I made one real quick. lol

Liz, if you're gonna be dancin nekkid on the train home tonight, make sure you at least do the carrot dance while you're at it! :carrot: :carrot: That may make for some interesting headlines to say the least!

AquaChick 09-08-2006 05:01 PM

I've never seen that movie, but had I known Mel had a tin foil room I wouldn't have gone ahead and bought 100 rolls of foil to wall paper my house.

lol.....:D

miafluker 09-08-2006 05:41 PM

hey everone how was your day? i exercised some more today 3x a week right shouldnt be too hard
Elycia i have a ? with the cardio party does it tell you somewhat how to do the moves or break it down? because i was only able to get cardio party 1 i hope i wasnt suppose to get learn and burn in order to do the moves

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 06:32 PM

Aqua, maybe you can make hats for the neighborhood with your 100 rolls foil? :lol3: Maybe there's other ladies there that have foreign weightloss tools that are being cruel?

BTW, I'm still wearing my hat.....I did get a few funny looks while I was waiting to pick up the kids. Do you think this will ward off bad neighbors?????? Today's Friday....yanno what that means!!! Paaaa-aaa-rrr-teee'! Ugh... :tired:

P.S. Sell your hats for $5 a piece, get some new "pants" money!!! Sounds like you could use some new ones, eh? ;)

Hun.e.B 09-08-2006 06:45 PM

Okay, ya'all turned into a bunch of lunatics this afternoon! LOL!! I guess we are taking up that laughter burning calories right!

Liz...O....M....G~! That is the funniest thing I've heard all day long! You need to be a writer! LOL!

~mel

Amany 09-08-2006 06:47 PM

AquaChick, Liz and Danielle - You ladies are cracking me up! Whatever the three of you have, you should pass it to the rest of us. Don't be stingy!! Share with us. We're your friends. ;)

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 06:51 PM

It must be all the extra sun & heat I got today while I paraded thru the parking lot 3x this morning! :p

AquaChick 09-08-2006 07:04 PM

miafluker- Hi! I know you can do it 3 times a week!!! :carrot: It's good!!!

Sugar-N-Spice- You do realize we have frightened, yet intrigued, our friends...

Hun.e.B- I think it's been so long since I had a greasy plate of anything that there is actual oxygen getting to my brain... it is making me giddy. Right now I'm listening to Madonna's "Hung Up" and the hook is from ABBA's "Gimme Gimme Gimme"... I'm about to bust a disco move.... :carrot: That's normal though... :D

Amany- I don't know for sure what has happened to us. Our measurement tools are talking to us in foreign languages, conspiracy theories abound... :p

I was just listening to this song! I love this album, it makes me feel like dancin!! Except, we only dance when the blinds are closed and it's dark outside! LOL joking! But yeah, love Madonna! ABBA too for that matter! :dizzy: Everyone want's to be a dancin' queen, don't they???

Hhhmmm, I wonder if we've frightened everyone off? It's been quiet in here except us talking about naked train rides, foil hats and conspiratorial appliances. :chin:

Amany 09-08-2006 07:21 PM

:nono: :nono: :nono:
You guys...

Has anyone ever heard of Callentics? There were a bunch of books and videos. The exercises are supposed to tone and increase your flexibility.
I ordered the first book and the Super Callanetics video. From what I understand, it will be a while before I'm ready for the video.

miafluker 09-08-2006 07:28 PM

im here madanna huh i havent really listened to her new stuff but i love the stuff from the 80's my hubby looks at me like im crazy when i listen to it im like hey i grew up in the 80's and im 1/2 puerto rican so i like all types of music now you guys have me singing like a prayer,
i close my eyes hmhmhmhm(forgot thos words lol) i hear your voice i hear your voice
:D

on a serious note i was watching a and e channel and they had a movie called flight 93 about 9-11 i almost cried

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 07:39 PM

Amanda, I have calanetics videos. I have Beginning Calanetics, Quick Calanetics for Abs, Hips & Behind, Legs. 4 vidoes and the only one I've opened is the beginner's one and that was eons ago. It is alot harder than it appears and it's also VERY dated. The people are totaly 80's leotards and hair! :D

AquaChick 09-08-2006 07:50 PM

Amany- I've never heard of it. What is it? Stretches or something?

miafluker- I can't watch those movies. :( It was such a freakish day we lived to see. I'm not ready to see any part of it again.

Sugar-N-Spice- I had a Jane Fonda tape when I was in high school... it was soooo much hairspray and flourescent leotard...lol....

Hun.e.B 09-08-2006 10:55 PM

You are the dancing queen, young and sweet only 17....ooo I love me some disco! LOL!

Mia...ever so often I'll catch a show on the history channel or discovery about 9/11 and i cry every time. On 9/11 this year they are planning on rebroadcasting all the footage from that day. While I like to see the stories behind people, I'm not sure I'm ready to relive that either.

Speaking of Madonna I was watching something about her the other day and she said that how she got her rock hard body is a diet of low fat and high fiber. Shes vegan too I believe. Oh and she works out 4 hours a day! LOL!

There is a good side to having this cold. the cold medications makes me not feel like eating! I've had my 3 meals today but I've really eaten ALOT less than I normally would. And the cotton mouth...guzzling the water! I'm craving icecream though, thank god we dont have any!!

Have a wonderful evening everyone!

~melissa

Amany 09-08-2006 11:05 PM

Good evening chicks!

Aqua - From what I gather Callanetics is intense stretching that's supposed to strengthen you, tone you and make you more flexible. I was able to find a used copy of the book and the the super callanetics video from amazon and half.com so I ordered them both. I keep reading that the exercises are really hard, but get easier with time. I'm intrigued. I don't want to look like He-Man, but I would love to have really strong lean muscle. Like Wonder Woman! ;) Plus I really need to work on flexibility. I'll be giving birth in my mid to late thirties! :dizzy: Then once my little offspring start to become mobile, I'll need to be able to chase them around.

Danielle - That's what I keep reading. That Callanetics is harder than it looks and that the videos are dated. How long did you try it? I'm going to start with the book and try it out for a month. Then I'll report back. :) Care to try it with me in a few weeks? In 3 weeks? 4? 5? :^:

Mia - I prefer Madonna's old stuff too. I remember getting in trouble for singing "Like a Virgin" That wasn't as bad as the time my mother caught me singing along with Sex Shooter and Darling Nikki though. The funny thing was that, at the time, I had no idea what either song meant. :dunno: I knew what "Like a Virgin" meant, but I didn't understand why my mother made such a huge deal of it.

Liz... Are you out there? Hope you made it home ok. :o :?:

Melissa - These ladies had quite the afternoon, I tell ya. Everyone is in trouble when I feel like I'm the most serious person around. When that happens things are really, really bad.

brat_61886 09-08-2006 11:46 PM

OKay i dont know what you ladies took today but OMG!!!!! lol well my day has been boring. I didnt really have the energy to clean today. dont really know why. I sat around, picked my room up some and watched tv. I saw that thing on madonna too. The chick was doing some of the pilates excersises on a machine thingy and OMG. I dont know how anyone does it but to be honest, if it makes you look like that i wouldnt rule it out!!!
I'm a big Britney Spears fan. Always have been since she was in the MMC. Anyways i just happened to find a site that had her diet and workout plans on it and things like the books she reads and all that. Anyways i printed out the diet and excersise stuff but have yet to read it (tell ya'll tomorrow) but i went thru the list of books. Most were about Kabbalah and being spiritual and accepting things in your past and understanding it and moving on. Yesterday i had a conversation with my grandpa about my father and i realized that i'm not over the stuff that happened when i was little. I dont know if its because he keeps screwing up and my grandparents and i are the ones that end up paying for it (literally) or what. So anyways i went and got some of the books. I'm a christian completely. I believe in God and being a good person and all of that, but i do have some problems with the bible. people say the bible is the truth and this and that, but being honest it was written a loooooong time ago in another language and one of their words had 1 or more meanings so really its best guess. I dont think Aliens are what created us or out to get us as some of u think (hehe). So yeah 4 spiritual books and 1 sex help book for a friend that was to shy to buy it herself (dont ask).

I'm going to do personals in the morning. i need to clean off my desk and plug in my new printer. night!!!

Amany 09-09-2006 04:43 AM

Hey Britt - I hope you had a great evening.

AquaChick 09-09-2006 08:47 AM

Good Morning Ladies!!!

Hun.e.B- I love disco too! I am listening to "ABBA Gold" right this minute! :D I'm a huge Bowie fan too.
I LOVE Madonna's body, she's so beautiful!!! What I especially like are the back of her thighs. It is very difficult to make the back of your thighs muscular, but she has achieved it, and she's in her late 40's. Such an inspiration.
I made it through a raw vegan diet yesterday, and I'm going to do it again today. So far it hasn't been so bad. I love hot peppers and garlic so I just added that and lime juice to my raw veggies and it was fine. Maybe I'll actually be fine with it, time will tell. It would be nice to be able to eat like that most of the time and just really enjoy the days when I choose to eat something else- and not feel the guilt that goes with it. The most difficult time frame for me is after 6 PM. It is a long standing bad habit to snack at this time on horrible things. I haven't been doing it, so that's good.
I hope you get to feeling better.

Amany- Energy is definately something you want with little ones! So, that is a smart move.
lol... Funny when we are kids we don't even realize what the heck we were singing half the time. I used to love George Michael's "I want you sex"... I didn't care about the words!!! But when you are 10 or 11 singing something like that is enough to get you smacked and dragged to church lol....

brat_61886- Hi!

Hun.e.B 09-09-2006 12:01 PM

Good Saturday Morning!! just a reminder for whoever pops in first tomorrow morning to start a new week's thread!

Britt...religion for me is something that I'm not sure if I believe one way or the other. I think thats kinda the point. I certainly dont like it being pounded down my throat thats for sure. But i do know in all the health and wellness classes that I've taken they talk about spiritual health as part of the balance wheel, so its important to have that in your life in whatever capacity you are comfortable with. Enjoy your reading. If nothing else its GREAT to be educated, knowledge is power!

Amanda....What on earth are you doing up so late!? LOL!!

Aqua...when the boogie started to explode I heard somebody say burn baby burn..disco inferno! LOL!! I'm not a bowie fan but I do love me some disco! My trouble time of the day is between 2-5, once dinner is over I'm okay the rest of the night thankfully. Thats also the time of day that I get really tired too. I love peppers too, yellow ones anyway, and I planted some this year to grow on the balcony, 3 popped up but they havent grown very big at all and are already turning yellow...so baby yellow peppers I guess LOL!

No plans here for me today other than working on my homework. We'll see how far I get on it! I've found some new ambition and determination yesterday with Danielles help so we'll see how eating goes today!! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!!

Sugar-N-Spice 09-09-2006 12:25 PM

Good Morning Sunshine's!!!

Yes, we had quite a day yesterday didn't we? *nudges Aqua* Not exactly sure what happened but somehow I feel hungover this morning! :D Did somebody put something in my drink????? lol It was fun to just let loose a little bit, no matter how zany or nutso it was. Aqua we'll have to do it again, VERY soon. Hhhhmmmmm, :chin: I don't see Liz here. I wonder if she got arrested for dancing nekkid on the train last night??? Or maybe she ran into Kenny Rogers or Mario Lopez?

Amanda, the calanetics is supposed to work wonders especially for people who cannot do high impact stuff. I just remember breaking into a huge sweat in the middle of this thing, it's pretty intense. All the movements are very very tiny and that's about it. It's not like it takes a huge amount of skill, it's just being able to keep those movements steady. I've talked to a couple ladies who swear by it, who are also big pilates people. So I'm sure with all that, you will see great results for sure!!

Melissa, I hope you're feeling better today. At least yesterday the meds helped keep your food in check, I guess we can count that as a plus, eh? And drinking your water is a very good thing!!! Seriously tho, I hope today finds you feeling rested and ready to tackle the weekend. :)

Hi Brit, hope you have a great weekend!

Well I am feeling oogie again this morning. This dang cough just doesnt seem to wanna let go. I swear I was up half the night hacking, and then I'd lay down and my nose would run. Up n down all night long! :tired:

I was watching this thing last night on MSNBC about a man who was going in for a gastric bypass surgery. He was about 400+ lbs and claimed to have tried every diet on the planet. The way they had this pieced together made it completely look like he went in for a psych evaluation just right before surgery(surgery was supposedly the following day) to see if he was "viable" for the procedure. This really bothered me! The psychiatrist was interviewed saying how it's important to make sure the patient is able to distinguish that the surgery isn't going to fix their "problem", that they themselves have to be able to conquer whatever has driven them to use food as a crutch. If they felt like patients were not of this mindframe and couldn't prove somehow that they could work it properly, they would be denied treatment. I was not impressed at all with the guy's answers, to me it wasnt reason enough to allow him to do it. He just kept saying that "this is my last chance at a new life. I want to be able to enjoy my son", etc. Hello? Does this tell you that he is capable of living this way for the rest of his life? And if he did give more reasonable answers then they certainly weren't aired. I really feel stuff like this gives overweight people the idea that having this surgery will be the answer to their prayers without having to do any work either mentally or physically...totally sending the wrong message. Anyways, that's my rant. :tantrum: I am sure that he lost lots of weight (I missed the end-dh was bugging) and thought for sure he would maintain this.. I hope he has, I hope even more that his urge to use food as a way of coping magically disappeared along with half his stomach!

Okay, as you can see, I'm a cranky girl this morning so I'm gonna venture back to bed I think. Try and hide under the covers for a little while longer before I gotta run around with my troops. I swear, I'm not even allowed to be sick! Bah!!

AquaChick 09-09-2006 01:23 PM

Butterfly50- Take care, hope to see you soon!

Hun.e.B- Thanks for the reminder. :) I hope you have a wonderful day!

Sugar-N-Spice- Hello! It is fun to let loose sometimes. I know, for me, this struggle to lose weight and trying to learn to live a healthier lifestyle brings me down at times. Sometimes I have moments when I ask myself if I'm really doing it, is it really ever going to happen. But, then I come here, and I see success stories. I see us having fun and lightening the mood, I think we all need it sometimes--- because we are very serious about the weight loss.

Sorry to hear you are still "feeling oogie". :( My throat has been sore since I woke up this morning, but I'm trying to ignore it. I hope it doesn't "develop".

I don't aim to offend anyone, because I know a lot of people have considered, are considering, or have had weight loss surgery and been quite successful with it, but something never feels right about it to me.

I have had so many times that my sister would eat McDonald's in front of me, then when she was done say she would get gastric bypass because she will never be able to stop. I even asked her why doesn't she try first before just saying she will never make it. She stays gung ho for two days tops, then runs for the burger. I know she is addicted. I feel her pain- I have been battling those very demons- but sometimes I think people don't want to do the hard work and they would rather have their intestines- the all natural, way we were made to work intestines- re-routed by another human just so they cannot fit as much into their tummy. That is sooooo extreme, but I guess they know that ahead of time.

My husband is all for that surgery in folks that are morbidly obese, he said if he was in their shoes he would do it and not look back. I can't say I'm 100% against it, or that I wouldn't be happy for someone that had it done and feels better, but it is so unnatural. I wonder what the consequences will be in 20 years. Hopefully not anything.

Amany 09-09-2006 02:43 PM

Hello Lovelies!!!

It just dawned on me that I was supposed to post a new picture yesterday. Meanwhile I'm sitting here with my hair all over the place. I knew I'd be washing it this morning, so I didn't wrap it last night. Plus I just did Leslie Sansone's 3 Mile WATP, so it's all sweated out. Now, I'm thinking, "It ain't picture time.". Promise to do it tomorrow though. ;)

My husband took me out last night! :D We went ot one of the restaurants in Mexican Town. Southwest Detroit. I am happy to report that I was good!! I had a taco salad. No taco chips. No fried bowl. I had chicken instead of ground beef and I didn't use any salad dressing. I did have 2 of the fried tortilla chips though. It was my only indulgence. My husband is going through a Mexican food phase, I think. Believe it or not, he actually wants to go again today. My resolve is being tested. :( If I told him I wanted to eat something else instead, he'd go along with it. I guess I just like feeling that I'm in control of my eating.

Here's what's funny. The salad I had wasn't even on the menu. When I asked if there was salad, the waitress kind of did a double take. She was like, "Yeah. We have salad.". Oh I didn't mention that I had a little plastic souffle cup with my own low fat sour cream. My husband was so embarrassed! :lol3:

I'm not in favor of gp surgery either. If you have the surgery you're still expected to exercise and watch what you eat. If you haven't worked out your overeating issues, you run the risk of stretching out the now smaller stomach and causing damage. Not yo mention the special nutrients you have to take for the rest of your life!! So my feeling on it is that since you have to do the work anyway, why not just do it without surgery??? I don't think it's the quick fix people are looking for either. That said, I wouldn't judge someone for having it. They have their own life to live.

Aqua - My husband is in favor of the surgery too. But he's not a person who can relate to emotional eating like we can. Sometimes he will go all day without eating just because he doesn't feel like it. Or sometimes he may not eat at all on a Thursday and not eat until dinner time the next Friday. He's perfectly fine with that. Damn man!
I hope your sister is able to get her eating issues under control soon. She'll be much happier with herself when she does. And healthier.

Danielle - You, Liz and Aqua certainly did have a time yesterday!! You silly ladies! You all are so much fun. I'm glad that all our time posting is not only about weight loss, inch loss or eating plans. It's good to just have fun sometimes.
I'm going to give the Callanetics and honest try. I read somewhere that Callan Pickney has scoliosis like I do. That sparked my interest. Plus I want to be really, really toned.
I hope you got a chance to lie back down.

Melissa - I posted not too long after waking up. I woke up this morning around 4 and decided to get up. My Cousin Vinny (my fave movie) came on at 5:30. I decided to watch it, but I feel asleep on it about 30 minutes into it. It was going off when I woke up. I dragged myself back to bed until about 9. Even when I go to bed late (like last night), I still wake up around 4. I guess it's because I get up between 4:30 - 4:45 on the week days.
Don't get me started with the disco music!! I think I should have been a teen during the 70s. I love the music and the clothes. I would have loved to have worn those funky wide collared, polyester shirts, bell bottoms and sported a fro. Heck, I usually sport an afro puff all summer long. "Dig it!"
My sister and four of my brothers are a lot older than me; so I was exposed to a lot of disco and funkadelic stuff. It's just the best, best music in my opinion. I think I'm going to pull out our SuperFly movie today.
I hope you're able to get lots of homework done today.

I'm so sorry you all are starting feel under the weather. I'm pretty sure it's the change of seasons. My sinuses are starting to get a little drainy. My husband has been a little under the weather too lately. Have you all ever heard of people taking castor oil when the seasons change to avoid getting sick? I'll have to read up on it. If I can stomach that awful stuff I just might try it. Or not...

BBL!
