:rain: :coffee: Good Morning Ladies!:rain: :coffee2:

Sugar-N-Spice- How are you today? Good for you, for avoiding temptation! :carrot:

Hun.e.B- Water aerobics does sound like fun, doesn't it? I love to swim, but I think I have grown to love working out alone. I used to go to a gym all the time (before I had my heart procedure), and they had a step aerobic teacher. She tried to be motivational, but I would be on a piece of equipment and she would get all hyper and in my face and say stuff like "come on girl... feel the burn!!! You can do it!!!!" and it would annoy the crap outta me. For aerobics that was fine, but when I'm sweating on a machine, and yes, indeed I feel the burn, I didn't need her drawing attention to me like that. (she did it to everybody) but, that's not what I joined the the gym for. I told her I couldn't go all fast unless she wanted to call an ambulance when my heart threw itself into a fit. Ahhhh, the good old days. :D I can do all kinds of stuff now.

miafluker - Hi! How are ya today?

Amany 09-07-2006 09:51 AM

Good morning All!!!

Ok, I really need to start to dig in with the exercise with renewed passion. I sort of feel myself winding down and I don't want to. I have another 80 - 100 pounds to lose. Calories and fat to burn! Muscles to tone. Jiggles to tighten!!! I don't know yet if the winding down was due to fatigue and then just being on vacation. Or just laziness. Either way I need a shot in the arm, quick!

This will be the first week in about three weeks that I won't be getting six days in. I didn't exercise Monday or Wednesday. I did exercise this morning and I plan to do more when I get home. I have this horrible fear that I'll stop right here, and fail. I know it's irrational. I know that all I have to do is continue with what I've been doing. Just go through the motions.

Ok, that's enough whining. I know what I need to do, so I'll just have to do it, right? I guess it just makes me feel better to vent a bit. I'm fine. Onward and upward!!

Aqua - I know what you mean about the gym. Those people get on my nerves! What I hate is that the people at my fitness center are always bugging people about recruiting their friends. It's so annoying. Whenever they come over to help at me, they have a motive. So if you tell them that you're not going to do any recruiting for them, they are slow to help you. That's why I was only using my membership for the water aerobics. I have a lifetime membership that I finished paying for about 8 or 9 years ago.
I once took an aerobics class there and there was this hand movement that involved clapping. I was doing the movement except for the clap. Call me strange, but I just don't like clapping while I'm exercising. I always clap too hard and hurt my hands. Plus it's just an annoying distration to me. This woman was going nuts because I wasn't doing the clap.

Melissa - I hope you're able to make an appointment today. All this talk about water aerobics is tempting me to try it again. Maybe my skin will allow me to do it once a week. I would love to go on Fridays after work because it takes a lot more effort for me to make myself exercise on those days.
I'm glad you mentioned the bed because I meant to ask you about it. It sounds luxurious!

Danielle - It feels good to have a good eating and exercise day, doesn't it? It's great knowing that you've done something positive for your health. Keep it up chick!

Mia - I hope you were able to get some rest last night. Sorry no one was awake to play with you. :)

Have a great day everyone. BBL!

Sugar-N-Spice 09-07-2006 10:07 AM

Morning All. I am sick sick sick today. I was up most of the night because I couldn't stop coughing. Now this morning I can't breathe and my chest is major congested. It basically sux! On top of that we have ginormous rainstorms since last night. This equals big flooding here.

Mia, hope you finally got some sleep!

Aqua, I had a giggle over picturing you at the gym and some "Howie-wannabe" screaming at you and you basically telling her to go fly a kite. :D I actually don't think I'd do well in a gym setting. Too self conscious I think. Maybe when I don't look and feel huge? See? There I am trying to conform to society's standards without meaning to! Bah!

So girls, I am miserable today. gonna lay low I think and just take it easy. Now, if I get my heart rate up all I get is lots of coughing and feel like my lungs are gonna explode. So yep, gonna just take it easy and rest. Hopefully later I'll feel like I can workout- tomorrow's weigh in! gosh I hope I've lost something!lol

Check on ya'll in a bit.

Amany 09-07-2006 10:36 AM

Danielle - If you feel that bad, it might not be a good idea to push yourself. Get some rest. If you're not better by tomorrow, or get worse, go and see your doctor. I hope you feel much better soon.

AquaChick 09-07-2006 11:10 AM

Amany- Good Morning!!! :)

I am so glad you said you need to dig in with the exercise with renewed passion. We all need to dig deeper and remember that exciting feeling -like we had that first and second week- at some point. I needed to hear someone else say what I was thinking, thank you. I haven't stopped or anything, but you know what I mean. We have to keep telling ourselves it is for life, remember why we do it and that we need to love and embrace it. That avatar of yours is good motivation for me too!

You're not being irrational. You are breaking old patterns. That is why you are consiously reminding yourself to get back in the game. There isn't anything wrong with taking a break for a couple of days. Sometimes we need a break. You know you are in it for real this time, that is why you conscience won't cut you any slack. :)

Sugar-N-Spice- Aw, hon... Take it easy until you get to feeling better. Do you like chicken broth? I know it's a classic stand by, but it always feels good to me on cold rainy days, especially if I'm sick. It's not so bad for you either.

Yeah, I liked that lady at the gym, she was a nice person... but I felt funny with her all up in my grill - especially when I was on the squat machine. Have you ever tried one of those? I called it "the iron maiden". Every time I looked at it I got the willies. It's the machine you do last because you want to pretend it isn't there. Actually doing it was torture, let alone having someone all "can you feel the burn, can you feel the burn, ....???!!!!! " ACK!!!!!!!!!! I should have said something like " I feel like my thigh mucle is going to come bursting out of my leg and do a happy dance for freedom, does that count as a burn?" ;)

iwantnewpants 09-07-2006 11:10 AM

Good morning Ladies!

I am sitting here sipping my yummy coffee and enjoying everybody's posts....except Danielle's! Oh darling....feel better soon! Get lots of rest and drink a ton of water water water. It's the magical elixir, I swear. I used to say that about wine (no joke, if I felt a cold coming on, I'd have a glass of wine), but then I hopped on the scale! :dizzy: And don't push yourself!

I did enjoy your post about the horoscope and standing in front of the pantry. That's so cool! I can't tell you how many times I've been bored and standing in front of the pantry. It's crazy. My dad and I read the Dr. Phil weight loss book, and I have to say.....that's one of his big things.....eating out of boredom. I knew I did it, but when I read the book, my eyes were completely opened. I recalled the numerous times I've eaten fattening snacks just because they were there in front of me and not because I was hungry or even craving them. Nuts. God bless my roommate, he's one of my best friends and I love him to death, but he keeps the WORST food in our house. He loves chips and anything made by Little Debby. And of course, he's rail thin. Grrrr. Though, he does exercise a lot.

Aqua: I laughed out loud when I pictured you doing the dance with the knee pumping and hand behind the head! I was so tempted to get up and do "the sprinkler" just for you! I'm so glad that you have your little boy to remind you of the beauty of unconditional love. What a cute little goober. But, remember, you are NEVER worthless because of a number on a scale. We are all beautiful, gorgeous, strong, determined women. :carrot:

Melissa: I hope you had a WONDERFUL birthday celebration with your family! And I'm so happy to hear about the new bed. I know exactly what you mean about laying in bed too long and feeling achey. I woke up in the middle of the night last night with a terrible pain in my lower back because I had been laying on my back for so many consecutive hours. Though I know it's partially to do with age, I can't help but think that if I were at a healthy weight, those aches and pains wouldn't be quite so bad. I dunno.....I guess we'll have to wait and see!

And Amanda: We all have the days where we feel like we're just spinning our wheels, but girlpie.....don't you dare give up! You are such an inspiration to all of us and such a goal setter.....you can't give up! We'd never survive without you, lady! Besides, you just got new shoes and you can't let those go to waste. No seriously, you doing such great work and taking such good care of yourself. It's hard when you look at the ultimate goal and think, "I have so far to go." But this isn't about quick results.....this is about a change of lifestyle and mindset.....and baby, you're there! It's not just about losing weight, it's about being healthy.....and you've taken SO many steps in that direction. Your exercise habits are unbelievable and your dedication is amazing. Yeah.....maybe you feel like there's a ways to go in terms of number, but that's the easy part. You've got the mindset.....and that's the hard part! I'm so proud of you and everything you've accomplished thus far, so hang in there! My dad has a saying, actually two that I think are appropriate here: 1) "How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time" and 2) "If you have one foot on yesterday and one foot on tomorrow, you're just pi**ing on today." My dad is weird. But insightful.....hahahahaha! :D

Well, I finally got a tape measure and have posted my stats for the challenge! I'm so excited about this....and I think it's great that we're really just competing against ourselves.

Alright ladies, I suppose I should do some work. :(

Liz

AquaChick 09-07-2006 11:20 AM

iwantnewpants- Hi!!!! :)

I'm having a black coffee right now. I almost never drink it anymore, but I was really in the mood this morning. I love coffee.

heheheheh... I have my tape measure in a little Chinese cup by the computer. Looks so innocent just sitting there... so harmless... just sitting there.... It's mocking me.

lol.. I'm just kidding. I hope my measurements will reflect my work in a positive way though. It's only the first week so I won't let it bug me too much.

Ah, found picture of "the iron maiden". Here she is.

and what an actual iron maiden is....

Well I got a call from my Nana last night saying my sister was upset because I was loosing weight and supposibly she is upset about her stomache. My nana says she see's me and that I'm loosing weight and she feels bad, so my moms going to be dying her hair and buying more healthy food. I guess my grandma is going to be giving her my treadmill (I cant have it my apartment is 3 flights up) I feel bad that she feels that way. She's never told me anything. I dont see any changes inches wise, weight yes but inches no. I still think I look the same. more to come later i gotta get to work.

miafluker 09-07-2006 01:10 PM

hey guys so far so good today?
yes i finally got a couple of hours of sleep then i recorded some workouts from fit tv for later and i won turbo jam cardio party on ebay last night i also decided i want to get some of the qiuck fix or 10 minute solution videos... well i have news when i weighed earlier this week i saw that i gained 2lbs but i weighed this morning and i lost the 2lbs :carrot: i guess it may have been water weight but i dont care

AquaChick 09-07-2006 01:50 PM

lovethatsara- Hi sweetheart! I'm doing great today, thanks for asking.

No need to feel bad. You didn't do it. She see's you being successful and it is making her realize she wants and needs to make some changes for the better in her life. I'm proud of you for being a good example, and an inspiration to your sister. I am also proud of your Mom and you Nana for assisting her in making those first crucial steps to self improvement. God Bless you ladies for that.

miafluker- Hi!

I'm doing really great so far. :D Looks like you are really getting yourself revved up! That is great! Everytime I see you all get new videos, or have new realizations about weight loss it just makes my adreniline zoom. I want to be successful too!

Could be water weight. Weight can fluctuate big time in the course of a day, it's so weird.

Hun.e.B 09-07-2006 01:51 PM

Good Morning/Afternoon everyone! Yes I'm just getting out of bed! and its almost noon. I played hooky today. I didnt originally intend to but everytime i got up to get ready for class my calf would cramp, I took it as a sign and stayed in bed. LOL! Plus, I think Danielle is sharing her cold with me! I dunno why she feels she needs to be so generous! Either that or the smoke is just getting to me and flaring up some allergies. Whatever it is, its miserable. And I made that doctors appointment for Sept 28th.

Another carrot dance for Mia!!! Yay!!

Dont forget that tomorrow we do check in for the challenge, that means you get to mock that tape measure right back! LOL!!

I'm sorry I didnt do personals now, but I'll be back after a bit to catch up with everyone!! Today is definetly gonna be my day off but i cant relax when there is a mess, so I'm gonna straighten things out, and since my leg isnt hurting at all I'm going to hop on my elliptical for 10 minutes. See how it goes and ya never know I just might do 10 or 20 more!! Babysteps right!

Have a great afternoon everyone!

Hello Ladies,
Not doing too good right now. I have had the plumers at my house since the beginning of the week and they still have to come back. Needless to say that I havnt done any exercising. I kinda have been watching what I eat. I do want to get up in the Am and get back into motion.
Hopefully my step son will be out of my house here in a few weeks and that stress will be gone. Now I had to spend yesturday at my sons dentist off for him to get his teeth fixed. Monday the school theraptist has called and we have to meet at the school to start my daughters Mental Health Appoitments. ( Thank God, Finally) She said it would be a few week before they could tell me what meds she will have to be on.
The Granddaughter is gone and have some dissapoitment with her mother. She wouldnt put the dress on her that I made her so I could see her and get a picture that didnt go well. Their is alot more then that tooo.
Other then jest being busier then dirt here latley I do want to get back into the swing of things I have to. I am hopefully getting my new computer this weekend and I am going to be getting high speed internet it takes me forever on this dial up. So I will check in as I can I hope for the best. hope your day gets better

iwantnewpants 09-07-2006 02:16 PM

Hi guys!

Sara: Don't feel bad about making these postive changes.....Aqua is totally right. Your sister probably just feels bad because she realizes she should make changes too. Just be as supportive as possible.

Mia: Hey lady! I'm so happy to hear about the 2 pounds. I read this article (I'll have to see if I can find the link) that your weight does fluctuate every day and that as long as it doesn't go up by 2-3%, you need not worry about weight gain.

And Bonnie: It's good to see you! I'm sorry to hear about the plumbers being at your house and about the strife with your daughter. Hang in there....we're all here to support you!

Liz

Hello Chicks!!!! :)

Hun.e.B- Hi! Sorry to hear you are a bit under the weather today. I think allergies could be the culprit, but this time of year colds and flu are awful too. I had a runny nose for a few days but thank God that's as bad as it got.

She wouldn't let her wear Gramma's dress? Well. That's not nice! I think even if she wasn't fond of it she should have put it on her and had a picture done for you, as much as you love that baby. ((((((Hun.e.B)))))).

Mmmmm, the smell of fresh bread. :)

miafluker- I like that idea, one day is only 24 hours, tomorrow is a new day. That's cool. :)

iwantnewpants- Hey!

Amanda: Girl you need some fire under you. :flame: :flame: :flame: Don't you dare slow your pace, you've been one of main motivators. Reading about what you do and accomplish each day. Shake It off, and lets go get those pounds.

Aqua: HELLO!!!!

Mia: You and I both need some kicking. I didn't exercise 2 days this week already. Not happy about that at all, but I'll make up for it. Congrats on the 2 pounds. :carrot:

Sara: It sounds like you need one of these girly

Alright, I dunno about you guys but I need the exercise bug to bite me in the butt!! What is it gonna take? I see a couple of us struggling with that, putting something else before our own health. Thats a habit we ALL need to break! I'm gonna set a goal for myself (a baby goal but a goal none the less) I WILL exercise 3 times before next friday. Thats it...3 times, I can do that right? And then after I reach that goal I'm going to buy myself a new shirt. New shirts make me feel good so I deserve one!

Who else is with me, who else is going to set a little goal for yourself and just do it? Dont you deserve a little reward for it to? I know I'm not alone here. 7 eensy weensy days is all we have to work on it, we'll tackle the next 7 days later. Darn it I'm gonna do this!!

Hun.e.B 09-07-2006 07:28 PM

OMG!! I just looked at our challenge thread and has anyone seen Aqua's and Liz's exercise minutes for the week!!! You girls rock!!! Liz did 150 minutes today!! Okay, if you can crank out those minutes I can surely do some too right!

Also, what happened to Kandice?

AquaChick 09-07-2006 09:08 PM

sapphire35- Hi! I hope all is well with you today! :)

Hun.e.B- I know you can do it! Once you start, it might take a bit, but eventually you will look forward to it. It starts to feel really nice.

I tread all day
I tread all night
My bottom lip I no longer bite
I hop on and move
When my fat is gone
I'll look so smoooooth...

:p

Yes, Im feeling ridiculous. You all know me by now...lol... :smoking:

I'm gonna confess something before tomorrow morning, because I think this is important for all of us to realize. You all know I have been treading. One day I did Billy Blanks too, but I thought I was gonna die the next day so I'm sitting on that for a while. Anyway, my confession is that my weight HAS NOT MOVED. Why? I don't know for sure. My cycle is around the bend, but I hate to blame that, but it is possible. I have been doing WW, and it's yum, but I am seriously considering a major tweak in my diet... again. Nothing like a liguid diet or something crazy like that, but for a couple of days a week to start just going raw vegetarian and seeing if I like it and how it goes. I have been reading up on it all week (raw vegetarianism) and I think I might like it, or I should say, like it a couple of days a week. I like fresh fruits and veggies. I don't know. Maybe I'm grasping at straws again out of disappointment because of that :censored: scale. I have taken some time to think about it, and it would be healthy to do, but I only know if I can deal if I try.

What I think is important for us to know is that sometimes the scale is not friggin' gonna move no matter what you do, it ain't gonna, don't wanna, so you have to accept it. It hurts. But we can't give up when this kind of thing happens. We might need to make changes. Maybe I need to do something else. Maybe I do need to add a video or something to my regime, maybe it's a plateau?

miafluker- Hi! :)

Amany 09-07-2006 09:35 PM

Promise to get to all the personals in the morning. Thanks to all of you for your support and encouragement.

AquaChick - Try giving it another week before you make any decisions. Ride that out first and see how it goes. There are times when the scale won't budge and then, all of a sudden, WHOOOOSH!!

You're doing all the right things, so try being patient with yourself a bit. Changing your exercise won't hurt if you're no longer challenged. But if you are just continue.

Ok. Good night everyone. I want you all to know that I did indeed exercise this evening. :D I'm going to stick with it. I guess it just all seems so overwhelming at times.

Night! :grouphug:

AquaChick 09-07-2006 09:37 PM

Good night Amany. Thanks for the words of encouragement. :)

Sugar-N-Spice 09-07-2006 09:58 PM

Aqua, I sure hear you loud & clear in regards to the scale. If the numbers aren't moving for you, for sure your measurements are changing! I think you're definitely shrinking (remember the pinks pants?!) but building up some nice healthy muscles. If it were me (and clearly, I am not you.... :D ) I would maybe change up the exercise a couple days a week before I changed anymore eating habits. You seem to be doing so well with the WW...are you getting in enough calories??? That could be a big culprit too. Also, one week without a change on the scale doesn't necessarily mean you've plateau'd per se..I would ride it out a little bit. IMO you wouldn't be hurting yourself any. I know you will choose the right thing to do no matter what, just be careful.

Melissa, you can definitely do 3 days! 3 measley days, you deserve to do this for yourself at the very least. You are preachin to the choir sister about the exercise..I am the queen of procrastination when it comes to the workouts, and you know how much I hate that! If *I* can do it 5 days this week, then you certainly can do 3. :carrot: I hope you had a good day off and ended up feeling alot better. It seems like the sicky is going around, no?

Sara, I'm sorry to hear about your sister being so upset. Just try and be there for support, and just think that you are inspiring her to take care of her own health too. Be strong, you can do this! So now you've got 2 walking buddies!!! :cb:

Liz & Trish, I hope you ladies had terrific days today! :)

Amanda, I am happy to hear that you worked out tonight. You have been one of my biggest motivators here, and please believe me that you have inspired me to get off my butt and just do it. If you can get yourself out of bed at the buttcrack of dawn to workout & then go to work all day, then I can certainly do it at 9am after I get my kids off to school! I think we all get to a point where we all get overwhelmed by looking at the amount of weight we've got to lose and think, "will I ever get there"? I know you can do this, you're too damn important to not see this through. We are all here for you lady, so don't think for a minute that you're alone in this. I hope you wake up tomorrow full of energy and get back to feeling like your old self.

Bonnie, I am so bummed about the dress thing that happened with your grandbaby and her mama. What the heck? She couldn't indulge you even for just 1 picture?? I find that to be simply just rude rude rude! I hope the stuff with your son gets better soon so you can find some peace. Hurry up chicky, we're waiting for you on the wagon, all ya gotta do is jump on!!! :) Getting back to a normal routine of good eating and exercise will do wonders for how you're feeling, I just know it!

Mia, great job getting rid of the extra 2lbs. I am trying to lose the 2 I seem to have found this week as well. I hope tomorrow's weigh in gives me the answers I want. I know you will get those workouts in!! You need your bank to keep growing and growing!!!

Where in the world did Kandice go?????????????? Yoo hoo!!! Sweetie if you're out there, we'd love to hear from you lady! We miss you!

I am feeling loads & loads & loads better this evening. A day of doing absolutely nothing but watching the tube and reading my book. I just finished about 15 min. on the exerball and some weights. Tomorrow I should be ready to rock n roll just in time for weigh in and measurments!

P.S. Aqua & Liz, you guys are kicking some serious butt with the exercise! Holy cow, that is truly inspiring!!!!! And here I think I've done some good time by doing 50! lol Keep up the great work girls, you're awesome!!!!

Hun.e.B 09-07-2006 10:06 PM

Aqua....its okay for that scale to stall sometimes, your body is just playing catch up, plus remember you dont lose pounds and inches at the same time. So if the scales not moving the measuring tap will! Keep up the good work!! I dont know if I could do vegetarianism. Eating too many veggies makes my tummy really gassy. Sorry I'm sure thats TMI LOL!!

Amanda.....great job getting that exercise done!!!

I slept till almost noon today and I'm going to bed early! Hopefully tomorrow I'll have so much energy I wont know what to do with myself. its our icecream social at the school, not sure I should be serving icecream if I'm sickie! Have a wonderful night all!!

~melissa

u2girl 09-07-2006 10:16 PM

Hello everyone:

Sara, you are doing so awesome. Keep up the spectacular job that you are doing. 15 lbs! :cp: you are really working hard and it is paying off for you. Please don't let your sister being upset with you get you down. You are making great choices and that is a great example for your sister. It won't be too long and your sister will probably be coming to you asking "How are you doing it?" You will reach your goal.

Mia, so you won TJ? Allright! When you get it, definitely post how you like it. I have CP2 and I still have never gotten around to doing it. I am in the middle of a FIRM rotation right now and it's been pretty fun, but boy is it tough! I have both quick fix and 10 minute solution workouts. They are nice when you don't have that much time and want to get some activity. Recently I got Bootcamp Kickbox (10 minute sol) with Keli Roberts. Whew, that lady is a toughie! Those are really good.

Trish! How ya doin' lady? Good to see you. You are just full of good cheer with all the little emoticons. :) Have you pulled out any of those workout videos? I know you might feel a little cooky, but I tell ya, I just love em. 1) I am in the comfort of my own home 2) I don't have to wear anything special or worry about how I look 3) I can pick whatever type of workout I want 4) I don't have to depend on the weather being cooperative. I could think of a thousand reasons why I love working out at home, so of course I am a HUGE advocate of it. I've had gym memberships, but so many things have stood in the way of me getting there regularly, that I just decided to do it at home. Now when I get close to goal and really want to build some muscle tone, I will probably have to join a gym to use the nautilus machines. Well, I got off on one of my tangents. :D What it really comes down to though is what you will do or enjoy. You'll obviously be more apt to do if you like it. You'll figure it out.

Well, catch you guys later.

Elycia

Hey ladies,

I GET TO STAY HERE THIS WEEKEND!!!!!! i'm so happy. i really need to study for my chemistry class. Nothing really new. Dont really have anything to vent about...its kinda weird huh? lol. Anyways i'm having a hard time getting things done. like cleaning my apartment...its not dirty, well i dont think it is. I cant see the floor because my clothes are on it!!! lol i know i'm horrible. But really. I cant really seem to move my butt to work out. Its really starting to annoy me. Tomorrow i'm going to get up and clean my whole apartment...well as much as i can. I need to buy a broom. my apartment maintance stole mine and i bought a mop tonight instead of a broom. great right? anyways i think i'm just going to have to figure out a workout program. Study in the morning and work out after class at 6, come home take a shower, eat, tv and then bed. sound good? Should i really take my measurements? i mean i'm only going to weight once a month. If i did it any more than that i would go crazy freaking out over why its not moving. I think i'm going to weight at golds gym once a month so i dont buy a scale and drive myself crazy...okay personals

Elycia- your baby twins are sooooo cute. I love twins. I have cousins that are twins and they just started kindergarden soooo cute.

Melissa- girl i wish i could sleep that long!!! i hope you feel better tomorrow and just dont smell the icecream!!! lol

Danielle- glad your feeling better chica...sometimes we just need to do nothing but rest up and everything gets better!!

Aqua- try eating a burger or something. Honestly ive had friends up the calories and the weight just dropped off. my advice, go out to eat with your family, or cook at home and slurge a little.

Bonnie- sweety i know all about family problems. its really hard to deal with sometimes and even harder being a mother, or so i'm told. Sometimes the best thing to do is ignore it and let your kids screw up there lives and then fix it themselves. I bet the dress is adorable!!! sorry about the plumbers!!! hope they are gone soon. good luck with everythign thought.

A big HELLO to everything that i missed. i love all you chicas!!!
have a good night!!
Brittni

Sugar-N-Spice- Thanks for the wisdom... Yeah, I lost some in my waist and hips. That explains saggy pants. I gained in my arm. I carry 5 pound weights while I tread, that bulked them up a lot. I have decided to drop the weights from the tread... and *gasp* train on jogging. (Amany faints) lol... I can't run at all, I look ridiculous when I do!!! But I thought long and hard tonight about what I can do on my favorite piece of machinery to change my routine. Training to jog/run is great. You burn more calories, gain endurance, and to become a good runner eventually... you have to have an ever changing pattern. So, I will start small. Jog a few minutes, walk, jog a few minutes, walk. I hope that will help me build some endurance and also produce better results. Still tossing the raw veggie thing around. If I do it, I will be very health concsious about it. Thank you for the nice compliment about my workout minutes. I have grown to love my treadmill. I would feel very guilty to look at it for a day and know I didn't take 'er for a spin. :D

Hun.e.B- Thank you for saying that. I did lose some measurement in my waist and hips. Not a ton, but enough to make my pink sweats a thing of the past. :D Sounds like you need to recoup some energy in you body. Please, take good care of yourself.

brat_61886- Cleaning burns calories. :D
Yeah, I'm sure you could squeeze in 30 minutes a day. Even a brisk walk sometime in your day would be a good start. I know you can do it. It might even ease some of your study stress and such.
I think it's cool to measure yourself once a month, if that's how often you feel it's best to weigh in.
I don't think I can bring myself to go outside WW (or veggie if that's the route I try for a couple of days). I have a fear that I will not make it out. I mean, I would be scared that I would go back to some old ways. I have really screwed myself in the past by thinking, just this once, and then that turns into a binge or I feel I failed and give up. I'm not ready yet. I get what your saying though, an extra amount of calories to switch it up a bit. :)

TriciaK 09-08-2006 06:02 AM

Good morning ladies... long time no chat... I have been so busy with back to school that my head was spinning. Of course, I had trouble sleeping the night before the kids came, so yesterday when I got home... I napped for two hours. I had to skip my night class because I was having trouble functioning.. How sick is that? I just wrote the prof, got my work, and hopefully it wont be too bad to make up the work. Life happens... Anyway, I am trying to get myself on schedule so that I can work in the gym after school. Cannot go early since I leave at 620 am. But I think my body just needs to get used to what is going on... Tomorrow is the big weigh in day, so we shall see how that goes... then i have a birthday party to go to.... Hope all is well and I was reading all of your blogs... it has been a busy couple of days... i will try and check in tonight, but if not... definitely tomorrow after weigh in.... ta ta for now

Amany 09-08-2006 06:38 AM

Good morning everyone!

Ok, I think I'm averaging a meltdown about once every 12 - 14 days. Would that be accurate? :dunno:

Liz- I love your dad's analogy about the elephant. It was fitting. I'm thinking of all these fitness goals I'd like to accomplish. Five minute miles, being able to do 20 pushups, etc, etc...
So I find myself wanting to rush to do those things, but I can't. Then it just becomes overwhelming. I really need to give myself more time. I haven't done those things in years!
Also, part of me is afraid to hope I can lose this week. I remember thinking when I was younger that if I ever got over 200 pounds that I would just give up. I'd didn't see myself being able to lose after that. So, it's a little bit of that too. So, now, I'll just imagine myself eating an elephant. :) Starting at the ears. It will take a while to get to the toes! Thanks Liz. You're right about the pi**ing on today too. I gotta stop doing that.... :o  BTW, keep up the good work. Your exercise is awesome!

Aqua What does the tape measure say when it's mocking you. That was so funny.
You're want to jog too?! That's fantastic. No, I didn't quite faint. But you could have knocked me over with a feather! I thought I was the only one that had dreams of running around in circles! Running feels good. Even when I'm running in place, even though it's hardly the same, it feels good.
I think changing up your exercise is a good idea. Your muscles become adjusted to the same exercise very quickly. So they will reward you for challenging them. Yes, it will hurt at first. Then it will get better, and you're doing such a good job! I can't tell you what those lunges did to me in that bellydance video! My legs hurt for two days and I finally broke down and took some Advil and later on some Tylenol. I did the bellydance again last night and my legs don't feel nearly as bad. In fact they feel just fine. And I know I'm starting to get a better all around workout.
Oh that blasted scale!! I'm so glad Melissa has us measuring. Sometimes that scale just isn't going to tell you what you've done. And, even though I hate blaming AF too, sometimes we start to retain water before she shows up. And we might keep it until she leaves! Danielle is right. Think of those pink pants! If your legs and hiney can't hold them up any longer, then you've definitely lost something! :D
Veggies are our friends! :) If you only do raw veggies for a couple of days I don't see how it could hurt. I think you'd need some source of protein too though. Like soy or something. That's just my guess. I'm not very knowledgeable with nutrition.
I'm glad you like my avatar! I thought I was the only one motivated by it. She's a woman and she's a fighter! I love it! Man, once I'm in shape like her, you could put me in a boxing ring, bring out my opponent and I'd...... RUN!!!!! :lol3: I'd be in great shape though.

Danielle! I hope you're feeling better today lady. Thank you for the encouragement. You always know just what to say. :) I think I am starting to feel like my old self again. I just needed to take the same advice I gave Aqua and heed to advice to me and be patient with myself.
I'm glad I'm able to motivate you and anyone else that reads my posts. It's a fair exchange because this is where I get my support and encouragement. I know I've said it many times, but I really feel indebted to you ladies. You all keep me going.
I'm glad you're feeling better!

Hi Sara - I'm glad the workouts are going well.

Melissa - You always give us what we need to keep us going. Thank you, than you, thank you. How do you do it?
You're right. The exercise bug needed to show up again and get us going.

Trish- Thank you lady. You're right. I need to just shake this off and keep going. Thanks for the :flame:  I have to keep it up. I have some obligations here! I'm so glad you dropped by the cheer team. ;)

 Bonnie:hug: - I'm so sorry to hear of the ordeals you've had. I wish you'd have been able to see your granddaughter in the dress. Hopefully her mom will have her wear it later on and send you a picture. Do you think she'd send you a picture if you asked her?
Oh the plumber.... Ouch! I know that's stressful and expensive. I hope it doesn't last long.
I'm glad to hear your getting back in the fight today. We need you! We've been struggling and we need your energy!!!! Let's hold each other up and keep going.

Mia- Congrats on the shrinking poundage!!! :bravo:

Tricia and Britt - Once you guys get into your schedules, you'll find the time to exercise. Of course you'll have to carve that time out, but you'll both find it.

Well, I'd better go. I just completed my Walk and Jog video. I was thinking of trying the water aerobics today. If I don't think my skin can take it, I think I'll spend some with you-know-who :drill:.

You know what? My appetite in the mornings is diminishing. But if I don't eat, I spend the rest of the day hungrier. Lately I'ven eating two boiled eggs and two sausage patties in the morning. Maybe I'll just have one of each.

Oh yeah...

I think I can start cutting all the calories from my salads. No more salad dressing!! Lately I've been seasoning my meat. With lower sodium seasoning though and adding some salsa or pico and about a tablespoon of low fat sour cream. When I do that, I find that I don't really need the salad dressing.

BBL!!

AquaChick 09-08-2006 07:03 AM

TriciaK- Hi! Good to see you. School does make you busy, I understand that. You have a lot of things going on right now. We need time to adjust, but eventually we always adapt. I hope the birthday party is fun, and I hope the weigh in goes well... but if your weight changed as much as mine, here is a hug in advance.... .... and try not to worry about it. (but I hope it moves in your favor :) ).

Amany- "Man, once I'm in shape like her, you could put me in a boxing ring, bring out my opponent and I'd...... RUN!!!!!"

 You prefer peace, there's no shame in that!!! At least you'll look like the wrong chick to mess with. :D I have high hopes to end up looking like one of those chicks too.

The tape measure? Well, I'm not sure what it says, it lives in a Chinese tea cup so it speaks Chinese. I can just tell by it's tone that it's mocking me. ;)

I can't say I'm having fanciful dreams of sprinting through the fields....yet...., but I definately need to kick my workout into place for this week. I also will have to keep getting up early to begin my jogging training. I have to avoid my husband standing beside me and imitating my running stance while I'm on the treadmill as he's saying "Run Forrest!!!! RUN!!!!" I get so mad, but I laugh and feel like I'm gonna slip right off the doggone thing.

Uggghhhhh, the LEGS!!!! They can really make you suffer when you give them some serious training.

I'm so glad she has us measuring. Seeing the scale at a standstill might have ruined my whole week if I didn't see some physical loss.

I already got my tread in. I walked 9 minutes, jogged 4 minutes in rotation at 3.2 miles per hour, for one hour solid. I did pretty good until the last 4 minute jogging stretch. Then I just wanted off, I finished though. If I wouldn't have finished it would have bothered me all day.

I do not blame you for getting rid of the salad dressing. That stuff sneaks up on you so bad! Salsa or pico is an awesome idea. I'm picky about salsa, sometimes the salsa in jars at the store is so nasty! Bitter like. Blech. Do you have any Chevy's Mexican restaurants in Detroit? Oh my goodness, their salsa is divine!!!! I could pull up a bowl of that and drink it with a straw! If you have never been to Chevy's, I highly suggest you try it if you get the chance. They don't use anything canned. Everything is 100% fresh.

Anyway, have fun with :drill: I be around later! :)

Hello Ladies--- Melissa (Hun.e.B) has given me directions on how to find this group again. How is everyone doing?

Butterfly50 09-08-2006 09:25 AM

Good Morning Ladies,

Going to get my shoes on this morning and walk up town it is a mile their and a mile back . I think Iam going to pop into a few stores too and look around now I have some Free time no children and No Plumber although he will be out next week to fix the leak under the house. At least Now it dont 20 min to fill the sink up.
I am going to send my Soon to be daughter in law a email and ask her to send me a picture in the dress . She wants me to send her a copy of all the pictures that we took while they were here. It will be next week when I get high speed . Dial up takes 30 min to send a pic.
Other then that I am doing fine I got up this morning and ate my1 cup Rolled Oat meal with a 1/2 cup of Low fat yogurt and a apple. The few days I didnt eat this I could tell this will hold me till lunch and I wont feel hungry and that makes me feel good.
I am going to get my shoes on and hit the side walk I need to stop and take a few address down I complained to the mayor about the weeds being as tall as Iam and the bees and sand stickers so the state is going to check to see who has to take care of the problem. So I better be going More later.

Hun.e.B 09-08-2006 10:05 AM

Good Friday Morning lovelies!!! I'm so glad its friday! another busy day on the slate for me, I'm armed with my advil cold and ready to hit it running! Okay not running more like a step and a limp but I'm going none the less! LOL!

Brittni...I hope cleaning goes well for you! I've got a whole housefull to do myself but theres always something more important to get done. I'm wondering if this not wanting to exercise bug that most of us are struggling with has something to do with the change in season. I think we naturally start slowing down come fall. But we must overcome that!!! Planning ahead will definetly help! You can do it!

Danielle...I think I missed you yesterday somehow...shame on me! LOL! I hope you are feeling even better this morning than last night. Have you heard from bob recently? I miss him!

Aqua....WOOOHOO she's shrinking everyone!!! Even a little loss showing is pretty darn amazing considering its only been a week! Proof is in the pudding there girlie!! Like danielle said its enough to get rid of those pink sweatpants!! Are the grey ones going too? Congrats on a very successful week!! Tread tread tread!!!!

Tricia...Good morning!!! It takes a little time to get back used to the school schedule! You'll do it! Your body just needs to catch up now! I hope the WI goes great for you tomorrow! Cant wait to see the results!

Amanda...good morning sunshine!! Encouraging and supporting you guys is easy because you make it that way! You really are an astounding bunch of ladies! I've got this nasty habit of finding it easier to help someone else than to help myself. So I focus more on that. I think you are right about not needing salad dressing if you really flavor up the meat you use on it. Even salsa is better than that dressing. I've never gotten the hang of the taste of using just balsalmic vinegar or whatever it is they recommend now. Gotta have that breakfast though...thats what gets your metabolism going for the rest of the day!!

SCALES ARE FOR FISH!!!!

Kenya!!! Yay! You made it!! I was so happy to see your smiling face here this morning!! How is everything going plan wise?? 3 more lbs and you have lost 100!!!! I'm so excited for you!!! Jump right in where you can! I've missed tons the past week and these wonderful ladies just keep carrying me along!

Bonnie...right back on that train!!! Good for you!! The bees are terrible here this year too, I've heard its because the winters are so mild lately that they didnt get killed off last year. I hope it doesnt happen again this winter or we are going to be infested!! How was that walk?!

Alright! Time to get going! I hope everyone has the BEST day, its friday!! Any fun weekend plans? Its homework and housework for me..whooopie!! Oh and 3 days of exercise!!!! I can do it!! I'll check on you later after the icecream social!!

~melissa

Sugar-N-Spice 09-08-2006 10:10 AM

TGIF! Good Morning Gang!

Butterfly50 09-08-2006 11:15 AM

Melissa my walk was great I left here at 9:50 and it was 11:15 when I walked back in the house. Felt great Now I have Chicken breast in the oven . Check back later.

AquaChick 09-08-2006 11:23 AM

rkrs6673- Hi! :) I'm doing pretty good, how are you doing? I hope all is well with you.

Butterfly50- Good morning! Good for you getting a walk in! :) Glad to hear you have a temporary fix on that plumbing situation. Things like that are small in the grand scheme of things, but they cause so much aggitation and stress. :( Sounds like you got your plans going in motion for your day, now I hope you have a wonderful day!

Hun.e.B- Aw... a step and a limp... that is sad. I hope you get to feeling better.

Thank you so much for all the kudos for shrinking a little bit. :) I was sorta disappointed last night, but I'm over it. It will come off. I know it will. These things take time, and it's so hard to accept that sometimes, especially when you are trying to do everything right. My gray ones aren't gone as of yet, but I predict one week, two weeks tops. I also have some blue jogging pants that I thought were gonna fall down and expose my rear in the store this morning! :o I didn't realize they were getting so loose until I was already pushing the cart in the door! The bottom of the legs of the pants were getting caught under the heel of my shoes! I looked at them when I got home and I can see how my stomach had streched the elastic out quite badly on top. I never knew it before, because my belly pressure had been holding them up. My waist and hips are the first things shrinking, so that's why I can see it now. Amazing.

Sugar-N-Spice- ACK!!!! I'm SOOOOO JEALOUS!!! Congratulations are in order for you! :carrot: :cb: :high: :cheer:

Wow, I hope I will see some more obvious improvement next week. I have made some changes in my workout and I am going to eat raw veggies today as a dry run to see how I can handle that. I'm hoping I can do that a couple of days a week. It would probably help a lot.

sapphire35 09-08-2006 11:48 AM

:coffee: :cheer: Good Morning Ladies!!!! :cofdate: :cheer:

I got a really good workout in yesterday at the gym. I had missed 2 days already this week and felt guilty. I love the idea of the water aerobics you ladies were talking about. So I paid for one session on saturday morning. Hopefully I'll like it and I will mix it in with my weekly workout at the gym.

The month of september seems to be flying by already. We're going to be at the end of this challenge before we know it. I feel like I really need to kick it up a Notch (BAM).:carrot: Lets all Kick it up a notch for the next couple of weeks, lets push ourselves just a little bit more each week. :lifter: I want to see us all tie at the end of the challenge.

Melissa and Aqua: you two already kicking up a notch, weigh to Go!:woops: Congrats on the inches lost Aqua.;)

Danielle - Hello awesome job on the pounds and inches lost, they're just slipping away.:)

Bonnie: Hello, and have a nice walk today, now thats the way to kick it up! You Go Girl. :running:

U2girl: How are you? No I have not done a video since Saturday, just the gym. I feel alone and quirkie when I do the videos at home. I truly believe I need that gym environment to make me feel like i'm achieving something. I know that is weird. But I like the variety of equipment they have. I know when winter comes I'm going to want to stay in the house, thats probably when I will break out the videos more. I think I'll do my pilates on sunday, because my gym is closed on Sundays, and I did miss 2 days this week already, so that will make up for it. But its going to have to be early, because I am a MAJOR, MAJOR, MAJOR football fan. And I know my husband is going to want to go somewhere and watch all the Games. Maybe Ozzie Sportbar or Ameristar Sports bar. During Football season we go watch all the Games somewhere every Sunday. Hows your two little ladies?

Hello: Britt, Iwantnewpants, sara, Tricia, Mia

Hi Kenya: Wonderful job on the weightloss. Man your going to have share your secret, very impressive. I hear you live in st. louis along with u2girl and myself. Thats neat, we're also so close we'll have to get together one day and share stories. :cofdate:

Gotta go Ladies I'll check in throughout the day.

AquaChick 09-08-2006 11:56 AM

Thanks sapphire35

Good job going to the gym. I like that "BAM!!! Kick it up a notch!!!!" :D :carrot:
