Scrapbooks, Journals, & Weight Loss
I had a terrific idea. I am trying to make a scrapbook of my weight loss journey, along with journaling. I know I want to include all those special ladies that have been so supportive and are part of my journey. I think it would be great to exchange scrapbook pages so we can put faces and their personalities to our journal/scrapbook page. For those interested, you would make up the number of pages that you'd like to exchange all about yourself. You then send your page all about yourself to your special buddy or group member. I would love to see those that helped me in my book. You ladies are all part of the story. If we could do it alone, we wouldn't be here.
We can exchange addresses via PM's so that you can control who gets your pages. Does this appeal to anyone? If so, please reply or PM me. I want you all to be part of my victory!:carrot: Norma |
Yes, Norma, I really like that idea! :cp: Let me get this straight.... I should make x number of copies of a page that tells about me, in general? Or about my weight loss (gain!) Or just whatever I think describes "Jane"? Can I include a photo of Molly? (my dog)
I do already have a notebook where I keep all of your bios, notes, addresses, etc. Having a scrapbook page that you each made about yourselves would be so cool! Where's my glue.... I'm ready to start, lol. Btw, my scrapbook papers are the regular 8 1/2 x 11 size. Is that ok? The only thing better than this is, I wish we could all sit down together to make these pages. |
Jane: You make the number of copies that you want to send out to fellow 3fc ladies. Put as much that tells about you that you can. A picture of you, family, dog, fish, garden, crafts, your favority hat, anything that tells us about you. You make it however you'd like. If you want your weight challenges or successes, go for it. I want to know more about "Jane" the person. It has been suggested to me that 8 x 8 would be good because it's not too over-whelming and you can use 8 x 10 paper to make it. That way fellow scrapbookers can make a book that will go into a traditional holder.
I sure wish we could get together also. Hopefully, this will be the next best thing. We'll be able to "see" our buddies as we message each other. Norma |
Oooohhh!!! I like this idea too! :hyper:
I've done all sizes of scrapbooking and 12x12 is my current...but I can do any size you gals want. Let's see who all wants to do this and then we can exchange our addresses. Great idea Norma! |
I'm in for the 8 x 8 scrapbook page. Now I just have to take a picture of myself. BOOO...ok, if I have to I will do it..lol JK - just kidding. I will get my daughter to take it. I will give my address to whomever PM's me for it, except Norma, that's already a done deal. :D
If excitement could be turned into wieght loss I'd be a skeleton right now!! AHAHAHAH Tiffany |
Marti - I'm glad to see you in on this!
Tiffany - I PMed you my info. Norma - glad we already exchanged our info, right? Before we decide on a size, let's see if others join us, ok? I'm already getting some ideas for this project.... bet you are, too! |
Jane, I agree that we should see if we have any more ladies who would like to share pages with. I too have been going over ideas that would show the "real me". We also want to keep in mind the mailing of this pages. Too big or over sized will have extra mailing costs. Not everyone does scrapbooking but does journaling will be probably using an 8 x 10 format or smaller. I like you like scrapbooking. If you have alot to show about you we can mail double pages (pages that are on the left and right sides facing in a book). For you non scrapbookers. Jane, I think I have your address. I'll double check.
Marti: I will PM you my address: Tiffany: You have it already. Norma |
oops I forgot to mention this.
Here is a fantastic web site for anyone who wants to see some great info on making scrap pages, greeting cards and all that. I just love it here. the first link will be to the site home, the second one is to my personal gallery. I hope you like it! www.splitcoaststampers.com http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=47812 Enjoy!! |
Norma...I think this is a GREAT idea! And yes, count me in! Jane and Marti already have my address but I will get it to you Tiffany and Norma and of course anyone else who joins in on this. I LOVE scrapbooking!
|
Cristi - so glad you're going to join us on this.
Tiffany, holy cow! Your pages are great! You could give lessons. Thank you for sharing. Norma - we did already share addresses, (didn't we?? teehee) but if you need me to send it again, just let me know. As for mailing, there are padded manilla envelopes available for mailing things like this. We could put our pages between 2 pieces of cardboard. Or, to prevent them being crushed, we could roll them loosely and mail them in a tube. Just a couple of ideas. C'mon Jaded Ladies! Who else wants to do this with us? |
Okay guys. What size pages are we going to do? I know it was my idea but I want to have a group concenus. I'm okay with doing different size pages for different individuals, if that is what everyone wants.
Jane: I think you and Tiffany are the scrapbook specialists. Do you guys have input? Cristina & Marti: What size books will you be putting these pages in? You all have got to stop being bashful, or we'll never get these pages started. I can make any or all page sizes. Talk to me! Norma |
Norma....I will most likely be doing the 12 x 12 pages. I have a sort of scrapbook started but think I am going to get a new one and start over. But any size pages will work for me.
Jane...great ideas...I thought about the cardboard because when I buy paper at the scrapbook store that is what they do...put two pieces of cardboard so it won't get al funky before I get it home. Just need to get a page together now to send. Not sure what I want to do yet so it may be a few weeks before I get something sent ladies. HAPPY SCRAPBOOKING! |
The size of the page doesn't matter for me. I will be putting this together as it's own book.
So...have we come to a consensus yet? |
Marti: I will be making 12 x 12 pages. Cristi will be doing this size also. Tiffany & Jane are our scrapbooking guru's so they will probably do the same.
For all who didn't specify a size. I will think that you want the 12 x 12 size unless you post otherwise. OKAY? Norma "the can't wait to start my pages" fatchick |
Norma - -----> this is me laughing :lol3: for you calling me an expert along with Tiffany. You have no way of knowing this, so I have to tell you, MARTI is the scrapbook queen here. Her pages are gorgeous, and she's done lots of them, too. She has even taught her DD Jhanai to do them, and Jhanai is following in her footsteps. Tiffany's pages are also top-notch and look very professional, so I have to warn you ladies, I am not very creative, so bear with me. :^:
Well, I think it's a good idea for everyone to do the size pages they want to do. I'll buy a 12 x 12 book and will place the smaller pages that are sent to me in the front, with the larger ones in back. That would work, wouldn't it? Hmmm.... I guess I'll just go ahead and use the 8 1/2 x 11 pages I already have on hand. I'm not quite ready to begin, yet, but will be thinking of what all I want to include. First, I have to find photos that I want to use, then make copies of them. I wish more of the JLs would join us for this, don't you? |
Norma - I hope you know I wasn't laughing AT you! I just think it's humorous that anyone could confuse me with a talented person. I'm totally "creatively challenged", lol.
|
So what kind of pages is everyone doing? Weightloss related, family or just a you page? I've got some ideas on what I want to do, just need to get it together. And I'm not sure yet what I will be doing. Trying to do a weightloss related page but not sure at this point...may just be a me page. I went to the scrapbook store today to get some stuff now I just need to get it down on paper.
Happy Scrapbooking Ladies! |
Cristina: My thought was I wanted to know more about and see the other Jaded Ladies who are sharing my weight loss journey. We are putting faces with the names we see every day. The page should tell us more about you. It can be your weight loss, hobbies, ambitions, all or whatever you feel best describes you. Please put your picture on the page. It can be just your face, all of you or whatever. I'm making mine all about what has made me, me! My careers, hobbies, children, grandchildren in micro form. Since I'm new at this, I hope it makes sense. Do what makes you happy, creative but please include at least a glimpse of you.
Jane: I didn't take anything personally. I got a chuckle out of my boo boo. I learned to laugh at myself a long time ago. I agree about wishing more would join us but I thought asking a forum any larger than Jaded Ladies would be too overwhelming. Marti: How's it going girl? About done with your pages? I'm doing mine assembly line so none are done, but lots in progress. I don't have enough pages of the same background so the backgrounds will be different but the color scheme will be the same. Tiffany: You said you were pleased with the page you got done. Thank you for the link to the work you have done before. I needed the inspiration! Good luck ladies! Norma |
Hi ladies,
I haven't begun mine yet, and probabaly won't until after next week. We have only one place in town other than Walmart where I can get supplies, and I have made it over there yet. It's Joanne's, a fabric store. Anyone have a Joanne's where you live? They have a pretty good selection of scrapbook stuff. Not like Hobby Lobby, but pretty good. I had the same idea as Norma, to include what makes up my life. You just know there will be a picture of me with my grandkids, don't you, lol. And I've got a photo of Neal and me when we went to see The Temptations that I'm going to copy. Not sure what else.... I think I'll have to do 2 facing pages, if that's ok. I gotta tell you... I love this idea and wish more Jaded Ladies would join in! |
I haven't started my pages either. They're all to be identical right?
I need to get my printer connected to the computer so I can print photos. So I may be late getting them out...but you'll eventually get them. :) JJ---great photos! Can't believe you already started! Hope more join us. But I think it you're right Norma about it could get overwhelming. ok....off I go. |
LOOK WHAT I FOUND!! Wow!! http://www.scrap-maps.com/ this site has scrap maps for every size scrap page...or at least a whole lot...lol It also categorizes them by how many pictures you want on each page what a find!
Also, Thank you very much, Norma, for the wonderful Kudos but I do not deserve them in the least. I am very nervous about scrapbooking, especially 12x12. I have been trying to work my way up to that size but I'm currently only on 7x7. LOL But I DID make a 12x12 about me...VERY HARD...much easier to make them of others. Anyway, if you want to see it, click here http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/ga...0&ppuser=47812 if you look around on this site, or type scrapbooking into the search on the gallery page (not mine, but the main one) you will be able to see a lot of beautiful pages from other, more guruquilified people. Have a wonderful weekend!! |
NORMA...gotcha! I'm still trying to figure out how to do mine so it may take a week or two to get it sent to everyone. And of course I will include pitcures of me!
Another question: Are you guys making several pages of the same page or are you copying it? I'm going to copy mine as the scrapbook store in Wichita does that...and it looks just like the real page, colors and all. The only thing is with the things I will use I don't think you will be able to see the detail...I don't know...whenever I get it done and go get copies I will start with one copy to see how it turns out. TIFFANY...I guess I missed those links before, oops! I think your page is GREAT! I love the colors, the patterns and the butterflies! And you look GREAT too! JANE...I too was thinking of doing two pages and yes it's fine with me! I can't figure out what to put on the page and think one won't be enough, lol. MARTI...It may be a while for mine too, well, actually, I'm thinking two weeks at the most....doing the page and getting it mailed. I love this and I too wish more ladies would do it! Thank you NORMA for coming up with the idea! :thanks: |
Cristi - I was thinking that since there are only 4 others doing it, I'll probably go ahead and make a page for each one of you, although I will be making them all the exact same way. Plus, I want to keep one for myself, to pass along to my kids someday, so right now, that's only 5. Once I get the first one all planned and done, the other ones should go quicklly. Emphasis on the word should, lol. It will be a little while for me to get mine done, too. But I feel sure I can get them done and mailed in a couple of weeks.
Marti - you can make real copies of the photos for cheap at the machine at Walmart. Just a thought. Tiffany - I love your pages!! I haven't checked out the scrap maps yet, but will. |
Okay I would do it but I don't know how to scrapbook. My mil does, she is a scrapbooking wiz............so maybe I could ask her.....................but I just wanted to let you all know why I haven't joined in..............
 |
SASSY...it's really easy...I think anyone can scrapbook. Doesn't have to be fancy, because mine aren't, lol. Just a page about you. But hey, maybe your MIL will do one for you.
JANE...after I asked the question I started thinking about it and thinking that copies wouldn't be as good as the original. But I'm still unsure, think it would be faster and easier. :dunno: We'll see... I cannot believe how dumb I can be sometimes! All these times of having film developed and telling the people no to a CD was just stupid on my part! It wasn't abou tthe extra money, just me thinking I didn't really need a CD. I could have been saving myself sooooo much time from not having to scan pictures, jeez! And they would have been straight with the CD, lol! :dizzy:  Yes, I learned a valuable lesson today ladies...always get a CD when having your film developed. I'm going to get with it later and see if I can come up with something. I found some pictures but still looking for the "right" ones. |
I don't know much about scrapbooking, but I do have a question. Do you ladies do the pages and then put them in a plastic sleeve, or just do a page on paper and leave it at that? I am asking because a friend showed me hers and had the plastic protectors and I wondered if that is the usual way to do it?
I don't think I have time to join in right now, but may someday in the future make pages for you all. I really want to take up that hobby. |
Sue: The page protectors are a personal preference. I do "pop up" or "motion" pages and you can't access these inside of a protector. Scrapbook pages are not like photo albums where you want to perserve your priceless pictures. You are putting things like charms, buttons, old doilies, locks of hair, etc. Some people use foam dots to give depth (raises object higher than the surrounding area) as used with paper flowers. I hope some of this information will be helpful.
|
Thanks Cristina. Yeah I think I can do them, but may need some guidance from mil and besides that, she has all the stuff for it! (Papers, glue, scissors, etc) So why not use her resources? Besides she has told me many times I'm always welcomed to use her scrapbooking stuff and I want to start doing me and hub's pictures too, so maybe this would be a good time to begin! ;)
|
Hi ladies,
I got some paper today to get me started. I do believe I'll stick to one page each, instead of 2 like I mentioned before, or else I'll never get them done. :dizzy: I saw some really cool stuff in the store - the decorations available compared to a few years ago is awesome! But I didn't buy anything that could get crushed in the mail. It was fun to look at, though. I do normally put my pages in the plastic protectors only because the grandkids look at them, so I want to keep them clean. I won't be sending my pages to you in the protectors, though. Ok, so I think we're up to 6 people now, right? I'm going to keep a copy of the page I make, to put with the ones you ladies send. Mary and I are into making barrettes and hair bows for the girls, so I'll be a busy lady for awhile! |
Hey ladies. I just want to say to exclude me. I do want to do it but I don't think I can commit to it right now, maybe the next go round?????? I just don't want to disappoint anybody is all. I do want to try it though, but right now I just don't think I can manage it.
But I think its a fabulous idea. I just wanted to come in to let you all know so that nobody goes out of their way or anything. |
Sassy, maybe we can make it an annual thing and you'll feel more up to it next year?
Ok, I've got to go get some photos copied soon before I can go any further. But I'll take care of that in the next day or two. I've been working on the layout, though. How's everyone else coming along with yours? |
I won't be getting my pages done until I get things more organized. So apologies now for it arriving to you all late!
I have everyones address that is doing this: Jane Norma Cristi But I don't have Tiffany. Do you wanna PM your address and share? Ok...that makes it 5 pages (including myself) correct??? Ok...off to roam some more. |
Yeah Jane that sounds like it would work. That would give me time to work on it. I would like to do it but like I said right now isn't the best time. So if I have a whole year to work on it, then I think I can do that. :D
Wish you gals luck on working on yours!!!!!!!!! :goodluck: Is it okay if I still hang out in here to get some ideas or tips??? :?: |
Sassy - yep, you're very welcome to hang out here, sweetie.
Marti - maybe Jhanai can help you get the pages ready. She really enjoys crafting with you, doesn't she? So far, the official count is 4 plus 1 for ourselves. Tiffany, Norma, and Cristina - how are your pages coming along? Well, ladies, I've got the first copy (my copy) all done, and will do the other 4 as an assembly-line project. No way could I keep it to 1 page, so I'm doing 2facing pages, 8 1/2 x 11 size. Also, I decided I will place them in the clear sleeves after all, to help keep them protected during shipement. I don't have anything on the pages that will smash, so I may just use a manilla envelope, and place the sheets between some cardboard. Do you think that will work? I guess I probably should use the padded ones, though. Have any of you used chalk on the edges of the paper? I thought about this, but didn't use it. I saw Sandi Genovese do it on her show, but I wondered if it smears? Also, I tried a glue dobber for the first time. I don't know if it was just me, or what, but it was too sloppy! I put it away, and pulled out little tab thingies. Might use tacky glue for tiny stuff on your copies. Between the scapbooking and the hair bows, my fingers are sore! :dizzy: |
A few of the pages I have done I've used chalk and I love how it looks.
One page that I posted was of Jhanai......the moon star is outlined in chalk. I'll have to post the last pages I did when I get a chance...maybe this weekend. Try it Jane....you'll love it. Especially on torn paper.......:D |
Jane...I've not even started yet...hoping to get to it this weekend. I have everything, and know the layout and such, just trying to find what pictures I want to use. I have some on a roll of film in the camera too that I am thinking I may use...just gotta get it finished off and developed. Once I figure out the pictures then I will be able to get started. Never used chalk...just seemed like it would be messy to me. Plus I am just into doing simple pages. Have you tried the glue dots? They are great because if you don't get the picture or whatever exactly where you want it you can take it off and move it and it won't tear and the glue dots basically rub off. Anyway, that's where I am with the page...deciding on what pictures to use.
|
Marti - maybe you could use chalk somewhere on the pages you send to us.
Cristi - I haven't seen the glue dots, but I need them, lol. I've had to take apart a couple of things on the 1st copy I did, and man, that can be tough! Tiffany and Norma - you two haven't checked in for awhile.... how's it going for you? Well, since I seem to be ahead of everyone else, I stopped working on the ones for you guys, and did 2 pages of when Neal and I went to see the Temptations. I've got pictures of the band, our tickets, and a couple of photos of Neal and me. I'll start back in on the ones for you guys soon, but I'll wait to mail them when you others have yours ready since it's a group project. I think I can do what's left in one day. Btw, the picture of Mary I'm giving you shows her holding a doll, and she thinks that's bad. I told her that you all know she's a mama of 3 little girls and won't think a think of it. I don't have many pictures of her w/o a child in her face, lol. Anytime I want to take her picture, she says she doesn't look good enough! :dizzy: Toodles! |
Hi Guys, I've been reading every day but not posting. It sounded like every one was busy with their pages but no where near complete. I've finished my minature afghans that I knitted and I have to apply them to a backing to keep them stiff. I've been collecting various scrapbook items to describe my past occupations. I have not assembled my pages yet. I believe Tiffany has been busy with a sick child and today she sent me a short email stating that her back was causing her allot of pain and she couldn't even sit a the computer for any time due to the pain. I'll keep you guys posted on her status as she and I talk all the time.
Norma |
Hi there!: I had everything I needed for my pages except that the backgrounds didn't match. I was at Hobby Lobby today and I went a little nuts. I got all new background and matching papers along with allot of little things that reminded me of me. I have so much buzzing in my head I hope I can get everything to look just right and not just a jumble.
|
Hi to all you scrapping ladies!
I just wanted to let you know that I will be doing 8x8 pages. I feel that it is very chaotic to make a different size page for each person. Though it may not match the size of your book 8x8 is all I can do right now. I do not have 12x12 papers and I only use Stampin' Up! paper and ink. It's just easier this way and we all want to releive stress from our lives right? Here is one way I can relieve some from mine. Thank you all for being so understanding. |
