seven under the belt....

Hey there all! Notched another day. That makes seven days down with success! :spin: And, I just realized that I had said the first four of my challenges were going to be Level 1 and then I went saying I had three pauses. So, I've fixed that. :nono: Surprised nobody caught me on that?! Carla! You see, this is the kind of stuff I need you here for, catching the big bully cheating on her own challenges! :lol3:

Challenge 1: Crunches -- Day 7/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 2: Journaling -- Day 7/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 3: Reduced Caffeine -- Day 7/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 4: CLEAN LIVING!! -- Day 7/3 pauses left (Level 3)

**************

trob -- Thanks for the vote for my avatar. Yeah, blue skies are all right and all, but I don't have a problem with gray. Good thing as we're into one of the longest rainy seasons here in decades. Everyone complaining but I don't care. Rode in the rain today, then the sun came out later, but I had been so happy to ride. It hadn't been pleasant but if I ever get to show and the rain's coming down, I wouldn't want to wimp out. Show/transport fees etc. are sky-high here, as is everything else! Well, you are looking real good with your challenges. I couldn't sleep last night either, but I know how hard that can be to stay away from the food. Excellent work! :cp:

lucky -- You can do it!! Just a few more days. You don't need any pauses! :nono: Good luck! What, by the way, is the over-40 syndrome?

Pink -- Glad I cracked you up! Carla, Shad and I go way back so don't mind them if they suddenly appear out of nowhwere, from the lurker mode, and say irreverent things. You gotta let 'em have their kicks though, you know? ;) Great going on your challenges. You don't have much longer to go now. Keep it happening! :woo:

dj -- Hi there! Thanks for your vote too! :thanks: Congrats on notching another day on your challenges. :bravo: You can do this, I know! Making your calorie challenge a Level 1 took guts. I'm pulling for you!

mez -- Glad to see you back! I was getting worried about you. Just ignore weigh-in day. If it's pms time the scale will be all messed up...except if it is actually down...then it's OK.. ;) Good attitude, no sense looking back, just push on! :strong:

Madame -- Welcome to our challenge! :welcome: Great to have you join us. I'm glad you think this is a more creative challenge. We try to have our fun and we've got a good bunch now. I'm sure you'll add to it greatly. And a big hand for your work so far! :bravo: You're really moving along with your weight-loss journey! :cp: You've picked some hard challenges, multiple ones at that, for your first spin with us. Best of luck to you! You're from my neck of the woods by the way. Well, kind of. I'm from Pittsburgh and I see you're from Ohio.

******

Shad, carla, how you doing out there in lurker mode?! :listen: carla, no balcony flinging, ya hear?! Zen, Lily need you!! Everyone else? How's it going?!

carla49 07-25-2006 10:51 AM

The mind is a strange thing. After reading your last post, Red, I scrolled back to try to figure out what the heck your "baloney flinging" referred to. Realized I had, in fact, referred to "balcony" flinging, chuckled about how funny your typo was... and then realized there was no typo in your post, just me needing new glasses RIGHT NOW. Then again, it would be a shame to lose these moments of entertainment. One of the true joys of getting older: filling in for what you don't hear or see quite right with vastly more amusing alternatives.

As for the egregious avatar, we need a smiley that blows a raspberry, gives a Bronx cheer, cocks a snook... at recalcitrant pessimists. So there. Although I hear on the Weather Channel it's raining just a wee bit in Japan, so maybe you have an excuse for the gloomy greyness. Reminds me of a short story I read long ago with a French title: "Il pleure dans mon coeur comme il pleut sur la ville."

Oops. Starting the old :blah: :blah: :blah:

Day 2 - I weight myself today. down 5.5 lbs. So I'm very happy. I'm going to change my weight in day to tuesdays. Since it will give me an day to workout a weekend. Not that I'm giving myself the ok to do that I just think this will be best. I'm reading the Wendy Plan I maybe tweaking my plan.

Red congrats on day 7!

I can't lose 100 lbs, but I can lose 10 lbs 10 times
.

I love this quote - my problem is that it is the same 10lbs I've lost ten times.

Carla - I went to the doc yesterday for a medical for this new contract - hey I am losing my hearing (now tell me something I don't know) however I can still understand what the doc says under his breath about grumpy ol' women without too much trouble and repeat it back verbatim. Rest of me is perfect (perfectly bloody awful)!
I see, hear, breathe, flex and move - therefore I am! Well whoopee. Didn't need a huge fee to know all that.
Baloney indeed. The imagined is better than the real most times.

Red I will be back for another challenge. I just don't know when. It's a challenge just living at the moment. Trying to sort out the house, the cat, the job, the gym etc. etc.
I think I am being sent to Weipa in the next couple of weeks. No point in starting a challenge when one goes to a place that has never heard of haute cuisine or fine wine - just a bunch of miners who burn off calories immediately. Not good for the rest of us.

Gotta go.

Congratulations mez!

Morning all. Wednesday morning here. My nose is running and I keep sneezing, eyes itching. The mold that grows in the rainy season is horrid normally but this year it is awful. Nothing has a chance to dry out. Today, though, it looks like sunshine. The heat will soon become unbearable. Still, I suppose it's better than the rot. I am very prone to lung infections and get asthma, so it's not healthy.

I uncovered a bunch of my old food journals from two years ago and it is utterly disheartening to see that my starting point was where I am now. Ok, I could and do try to tell myself that I could be 50 lbs more now and that it's a good thing that I am where I am now, considering that I was 15 lbs heavier not so long ago! Nothing seems to change. I was psyched about getting to where I am now and this morning, by the way, the scale dipped a touch lower, so I am at my lowest recorded weight this year.. 70.8 kgs, around 156 lbs. :encore: I have fairly recent memories of about 68 kgs though and distant ones of 60. The latter don't count, but the 68 ones do. I will be glad to be back there, but even happier when I can hit what I currently consider "virgin ground," around 68 and below! Gotta aim for it! I can do this! ...trying to pump myself up here... :^:

**************

mez -- This is amazing!! 5.5 lbs down?!?! :?: Wow!!! How did you do it? Congratulations!!! :encore: Good luck on your plan. Never heard of the Wendy Plan. Is this the latest thing in the States?

Shad -- You could always pick a challenge that you could do no matter where you are, like me with my crunches. However, if it's not going to be something that makes you feel good about yourself, progress etc. then yeah, wait till you can do something that will. Hope you can beat the "challenge of living" right now. I think we should all think of the unhealthy things that we could be doing and are NOT, and feel good about that. It helps.

carla -- Hope you get those glasses, but I hear you on the amusing alternatives. Living with another language around me, I hear people saying the most bizarre things in English, because I am used to "stretching" my mind to pick up meaning. I have learned to confirm and reconfirm or go away with some might strange images! Yes, the rain here has killed quite a few people with landslides, mudslides etc. Usually, this kind of thing doesn't happen until the typhoon season in late August and September. As for the avatar, it's odd, but I never saw it as gray or gloomy. You know what they say about seeing what is reflected from within.... Of course, this could also indicate that my heart is black as night and a little gray looks like sunshine to me...in fact, I think that's more the case. In any case, until I see you in the ring with us fighting I'm not gonna pay you much attention. So, there!

luckyducky 07-25-2006 09:56 PM

Wooohoooo!!!! Day 18 done with!!! Only 3 more days to go!!! ( of course, I am on call this weekend, so I have to figure out some place close to the hospital to walk, ( the mall is a huge turn off) I have a place in mind, I just have to map out the distance, so I can circle my truck so I can get to the hospital in 15 minutes, call sucks, sorry to say...Oh well, it is a great job, and I love what I do, so I can't have everything...

PinkSnowDays 07-26-2006 12:26 AM

Day 14/ 1 pause used -Only one glass of Diet Coke a day or less (Level 3)
Day 15 -At least one bottle (34oz) of water a day (Level 3)

Day 14/ 1 pause used -No eating after 9pm (Level 3)

redballoon 07-26-2006 06:37 AM

Day 8 is OFF my plate!

Okay, people, Day 8 is history...well, more or less...I'm not going to blow it now.. :sunny:

Challenge 1: Crunches -- Day 8/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 2: Journaling -- Day 8/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 3: Reduced Caffeine -- Day 8/1 pause left (Level 1)
Challenge 4: CLEAN LIVING!! -- Day 8/3 pauses left (Level 3)

**************

Pink -- Hurrah for you! :bravo:

lucky -- I KNOW you can do this and I like your attitude, mapping out a route to walk. :dancer: You're not letting circumstance beat you. I kind of like malls, probably only because I'm never in them, but I don't think you can get up a good pace like you would outside. You could, but you'd look pretty weird and you may bump into people. Walking around the outside of a mall could, I suppose, be good. Anyhow, I hope you were able to conquer the call night!

Sushi Penguin 07-26-2006 06:40 AM

Hello all :)

Challenge 1: max 15 cheddars per day -- completing Day 10
Challenge 2: no chocolate -- completing Day 3
Challenge 3: keeping a food log -- completing Day 3

I've been doing quite well the past few days and noticed something awesome regarding the cheddar challenge... at first, whenever I was packing my lunch and snacks for the next day, I made sure to have exactly 15 cheddars. If I'd have two too many, I'd put them back, but if I'd have one too little, I'd take one more out of the box.
Now I just grab some, count them to make sure there are no more than 15, and stick with however many I already have, whether it's 12 or 14. Feels good - it's a new degree of self-control.

redballoon 07-26-2006 06:45 AM

Heh, Sushi, I like the sound of that! I'd say this is really becoming second nature to you, in other words, so much a part of you that you can take it or leave it. Excellent! :cp: Heh, love those little penguins!

:bubbles:

Sushi Penguin 07-26-2006 07:18 AM

Thanks Red :)
That's the Little Penguins, aka Fairy Penguins or Blue Penguins in New Zealand. They're so small - around 30 cm, and so cute! I took the picture myself at Melbourne Zoo not too long ago. :)

Congrats on your excellent weigh in, forgot to mention that before! Go Red! :) :cheer:

Obsidianbbw 07-26-2006 07:37 AM
