rolling along....

Morning all. It is Friday here and I am running late due to asthma last night and a bit of lack of sleep. I want to get to the gym but it's tough....too many problems at work and I was in a state yesterday wondering just what was going on. I still don't really know and have a meeting with the president today...I really don't need all this anxiety, but that's par for the course at the nuthouse I work at! My challenges on doing fine. I knocked out the crunches yesterday and ate decently. The save the other night gave me some much-needed encouragement that, yes, I CAN do it. Thanks for your support, those of you who gave it!

**************

mumofone -- Welcome to our thread. :welcome: I'm glad to have you aboard and hope you'll give us lots of support. Please be sure to read the rules/guidelines laid out in the opening post. It looks like you already probably have. Your challenges sound like tough ones. Your first one, the no bread, white rice etc. is like my "clean living" one, well, a part of it. It's tough but will do wonders for you. Sugar and highly processed foods are the bane of success when it comes to eating. I am amazed how it doesn't even occur to me to overeat when I am eating brown rice and no sugar. Walking 40 mins. every day is excellent. Living in Tokyo I walk all the time, but know how hard it can be in other towns. I was only on the outskirts of Dublin once, never got in to the city, but I've been in other areas of Ireland. It is a beautiful country and I greatly enjoyed the pubs! Well, good luck! :goodluck:

EviesMommy -- Good to see you back. I certainly understand how hard it must be being a nurse with the changing shifts and all. The fact that you have kept trying and refused to give up and give in is heartening. Just keep checking in with us...when you have afford yourself a little cyper social life!

dj -- Yes, I was thinking about what I wrote to you...lol...it's always easier to give advice than to take you own, isn't it? ;) and I was saying, yes, I just have to stop the overeating. And at my height that is very easy to do, overeat that is. When I can't get in real heartrate-raising exercise then I just have to cut way back on food, even if my stomach is growling to wake up the jungle! Actually I've come to like the feeling and realize that just a little bit of food, an apple or a rice ball or whatever will take the edge off just fine and keep me from being lightheaded. I hope things work out with your son. Perhaps a talking to about avoiding the worst case scenario is wiser than trying to prevent the inevitable, if you know what I mean. Or just letting him know that you are there to help if things ever get hairy. It's such a shame to think how some problems snowball just because young people (and old) are afraid to ask for help. And I see you notched another day despite the emotional drama. Way to go, dj! You are rockin'!! :dancer:

4ever -- It's fine that you join! :welcome2: Glad to have you with us! And yes, major kudos to you for your incredible weight loss! My hat goes off to you!! :bravo: But please, read the rules and guidelines. I am the whip cracker around here. :drill: This is a challenge thread, not so much a chatting thread. You are more than welcome to chat but please keep your focus on your challenges, which, by the way, are????

Pink -- I think I already congratulated you on the water challenge, right? I get confused here, but yes, you just keep your accomplishments up there for all to see. You should be proud! I hope your move goes well and you'll be chatting with us regularly again soon. Let us know when you finish your other challenges. It should be perhaps even as I speak, right? :sunny:

Sorry....Obviously this is the wrong thread for me.

Apple Blossom 08-03-2006 07:10 PM

I just want to pop in and report day 4 done, but only if I do well today. Salad for dinner I guess. I'm having a tough time today with a tired, grumpy little girl. Oh do I really need to get away from my family. Sounds terrible but I really need a break!!!
Hi to everyone else, hope you are all well!

trob 08-03-2006 10:14 PM

red- sorry that things are stressful at work. i hope that your meeting with the president clears things up for you. good work on your challenges!!

apple- don't feel bad about needing a break, we all need one from time to time. i used to feel very guilty for even thinking about going and doing things without them. but i have come to realize that giving myself a break makes me a much better mother and wife. way to go with your challenges!!!

dj- hope things went well with your son.

crunches- day 7 with one pause left (level 1)
64 oz water- day 7 with one pause left (level 1)

hope that everyone has a great day tomorrow. we will be photographing a ball tourney from 10-10 starting tomorrow and going through next wednesday. i hope that i am able to keep up with my crunches. i don't think i have to worry about drinking my 64 oz of water since the temps here are hovering around 100. keep up all that good work!!

luckyducky 08-03-2006 11:13 PM

Just popping in to say hi!! I haven't started any new challenges yet... my life right now is challenging enough, I STILL haven't worked the horses that need the conditioning!!!! I am so busy pleasing everyone else, I am needing to go back to my motto" I can only please one person per day... today isn't YOUR day, tomorrow doesn't look good either!!! Dang it!!! I need to work on MY things for a bit!! Good luck to everyone with your challenges though!!! You all are inspirational!!! Have a ducky kind of day!!!!

PinkSnowDays 08-03-2006 11:49 PM

Finished!!

Just finished the rest of my challenges today!! Things kindsa went downhill at the end but I did finish!!

Challenges:
FINISHED!!/ 3 pauses used -Only one glass of Diet Coke a day or less (Level 3)
FINISHED!! At least one bottle (34oz) of water a day (Level 3)
FINISHED!!/ 3 pauses used -20 minutes of exercise a day (Level 3)
FINISHED!!/ 3 pauses used -No eating after 9pm (Level 3)

Spent most my day running errands and packing but I did get a good swim in and walked the dogs. Lots more to do tomorrow I seem to be a last minute person lately... never used to be.

Waiting till next weekend to start my new challenges as I will be moving all weekend and then going to a friends vacation home for a few days next week. But I will try to stick to heathly choices, exercise and no bingeing. But here are my new challenges:

100 crunches a day
2000 calories or less a day
No eating after 10pm (yeah yeah I moved the time back but when I'm in the school mode and up studying till 2am my midnight snacking gets extreme... could be my downfall)

Keep up all the good work ladies!! :cp: Hang in there Red, will this meeting help ease some of the stress at work? DJ how'd the talk go?

mumofone 08-04-2006 01:09 AM

Day 20 - exercise - pause, 1 pause left

Day 15 - calories under 1800 - good, 0 pauses left, level 1

Managed to keep up with my challenges yesterday although for some reason I felt hungrier than normal. Came close to my 1800 but didn't hit it so that's ok.

The talk with my son went pretty well. I managed to keep calm and we had a good talk. He really does want to make the right decisions and assured me that although things got a little out of control, they didn't get too out of control, and that they stopped and even talked about things between themselves. They both want to wait until they're older to get too serious, so I'm happy about that. He's actually a really good kid. Pretty much straight A's and wants to be a scientist, so hopefully he'll keep on track!

Congrats Pink! Good job!

Hi to everyone else. Busy day ahead, must get moving!

moving along...

Heh all! Gotta run now. Wrote the rest of this message first and now have no time for ME! Will try to catch up later.

**************

mumofune -- You're very welcome! It's always great to have motivated people aboard and, yes, motivation wanes quickly at times. You're a tough one if yours lasts a few weeks! Have a great time off. You have me wishing I was in Ireland for some reason. Guess it was a nice time for me. I take it you have some pause days, right? So use them if you need to or you can always start over, but I find in the early days (meaning when you're new to this game) it's good to keep clean and that really helps the motivation. We've been doing this challenge thing for years now and at first there were no pause days. I found that just too difficult and put in the pauses and levels to kind of help people along, but I know some like to go clear through if they can. Well, I'm babbling here...sorry, early morning caffeine. Look forward to seeing you bright and early Monday morning!

Apple -- Thanks for popping in. I do hope your little girl cheers up! Were you able to get the salad for dinner? There's nothing wrong with saying you need to get away. :nono: It's a shame more people don't understand that we all need refueling in order to be there for others. We must come first in order to do that but more often than not come somewhere at the bottom of the pit. Good luck to you! :goodluck:

trob -- Thanks for the encouragement. The meeting with the prez has thrown new concerns into the mix, but what can I say, at least I'm still in the ball game. With so many things happening, my challenges offer me a kind of stability, a plank to grasp on to in this churning sea. When I manage to keep my grip I feel more powerful and determined (even if just a little bit) and it really helps in other things going on in my life. I hope you can find the same with your challenges. You are doing so well! :cp: Cool. What's this ball tourney you're photographing? Are you a photographer or in film somehow? Sounds interesting.

Pink -- !!!! HURRAH for YOU!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! :woo: :cp: :encore: :cp: :woo: Three cheers and hats off!! :bravo: :bravo: :bravo: Good luck with the move and I am looking forward to hearing from you on the other end of it. The meeting didn't really ease the stress. In fact it added to it, but at least I feel I have a powerful ally. However, it will mean I have more enemies...more later.

lucky -- Heh there! I like your motto. You gotta put No. 1 first! Good luck with the horses. Hope to see you back regularly soon.

dj -- Keeping it going, I see! Wow! :spin: So glad to hear the talk with your son went well. Of course he's a really good kid..look who raised him! :D

IlostIT4ever -- I do wish you'd join us. It's often impossible to get the right tone across when writing and I hope you didn't feel I was chiding you for chatting. No way! We are all huge chatters here and I am the biggest! Just have to keep the challenge foremost in mind to maintain the structure, momentum, accountability and what not for our participants. There are so many threads where there is none of this and people just waffle on indefinitely. Of course, like you said, this may not be what you want or need at this time. But best of luck on your maintaining. You must feel absolutely wonderful about your accomplishment!

**********

Well, hope to keep hearing from you all. It's great to have action around here and see people helping each other.

avatar origins...

Hey, all. A slow day at work here. I'm doing OK on my challenges but the crunches await me when I get home tonight. Hope I don't forget...

Well, I didn't want to let carla down about my avatar, but she should know what it really is, not the cheery, innocent, goofy balloon of her imagination, but a ''severely disturbed balloon that derives pleasure by popping itself in order to wreak havoc upon unsuspecting victims." http://www.suicidalballoon.com/ Watch the episodes. :lol3: There is no resemblance to the avatar's owner... :nono:

Shad 08-05-2006 04:22 AM

I didn't need to know that Red. I'm not clicking on the link.

redballoon 08-05-2006 05:11 AM

Oh, come on Shad. Be brave. It's pretty innocent stuff.

Shad 08-05-2006 08:05 AM

I don't think I need to know about suicidal balloons or those which wreak havoc on unsuspecting citizens. We have enough of the real life variety right here - idiots not balloons.
Besides which, I prefer the cheeky, cheery, innocent, goofy balloon of my imagination.

trob 08-05-2006 08:46 AM

hey all, just making a drive thru here due to the ball tourney. things are going pretty well but i did have to use a pause day for my water yesterday. so i am on day 9 with crunches and day 8 with water. i will be back later to write more!

red- my husband is a photograher and is the official photog. for the regional babe ruth baseball tourney that they are holding in our town. i am very proud of his work. his favorite type is outdoor and wildlife and has even been had some pics in magazines and calendars. since i am so proud of him i always share his web address.
lostvalleyphoto.com it is also a place where you can learn a little bit more about me and my family....stories through pictures.
gotta run.....the games are starting soon.
