Jane 05-02-2006 12:25 PM

Good morning Jaded Ladies,

My friend Kathy came for coffee today, and we had such a good time. We've been friends since we were 14, and know each other like a book. The really neat thing is, we became grandmas at the same time, and always have lots of pictures to show each other. She only has one grandchild, and I have 5, but I believe she has more pictures!

I've done well with the food and water buy need to get in some exercise. Big surprise on that one, lol.

Hope everyone has a great day. It's supposed to be sunny here afterwhile, so I'm planning to get outdoors.

Marti 05-02-2006 12:52 PM

Hello girls...

Another pretty day in Oregon. Grandpa and a friend of his are out in the yard splitting wood w/a wood splitter. They get to sit down while doing this!!:D

I'm enjoying being up in the morning. So nice to be up early rather than going to bed in the wee hours of the day. Such a change. Energy level is more too.

Ok...must go hop on my gazelle and shower, then head off to work.

Chat w/you next time.

Jane 05-02-2006 01:01 PM

Sue - I read on the other thread that you lost your BIL. Know that I'm thinking of you and your family, ok?

Marti 05-02-2006 01:25 PM

Popping in once again...can't see how James is sleeping w/all the noise going on outside!!!:dizzy:

Ellen--Geraniums are beautiful, but they don't have a very good fragrance to them do they?? If I'm thinking of the right flower.........Still would love to have some in my front yard! Enjoy the sun.

Jane--I so miss that kind of friendship!! I do have one friend at work that I've been trying to get in touch with. Now that my hours have changed, it'll be easier to see her. I can come in early and spend time w/her.

Cristi--Hope you feel better soon and post! How have you been?

Hello to all the other girls out there!! Ok....James is up, wants the computer.....oh, did I mention that he got a new monitor for it?? I can finally read clearly, and here I thought I needed glasses!!:D

Talk to you all later

Hugs:hug:

Michelle 05-02-2006 01:29 PM

Good Morning Ladies...

It's another beautiful sunny day here and I love it!:sunny: Hope all of you are having a great Tuesday!;)

Jane...I read your weightloss thread and you're such an inspiration! You are so right with how you worded it all. I think you're absolutely wonderful and should be so proud of your accomplishment!!!

Katiecat 05-02-2006 01:45 PM

Hi Ladies...

Sue, very sorry to hear about the loss of your BIL  Post whenever you feel up to it...so many here have been through the loss of a family member, and can empathize. All the JL's were so kind to me when I lost my sister last year.

Marti, glad you are enjoying your new hours so much! Studies have shown that people are more productive and so much more energy if they are able to work with their bodies' natural "clocks" instead of against them. And some people are just naturally morning people. But you can adapt to any schedule I guess -- Tim is naturally a night person, but has gotten used to starting work at 5:30 am.

Ginny, I think you asked me what kind of surgery I had? It was for a radial tunnel release -- kind of like carpal tunnel, but instead of the wrist it is the nerve that runs from the outside of the shoulder to the elbow, then crosses the forearm to the thumb and index finger.

Jane, very happy you are staying! :D And glad you had fun with your friend at coffee this morning. It's nice to have a friend you can share a life experience with, like having grandkids at the same time. When I had Noah, my best friend at the time was pregnant too -- exactly one month behind me. I had breakfast with a friend today, too -- veggie fritatta made with egg beaters, diet Coke...but I couldn't say no to the blueberry scone they served with it :T Hope the points weren't too high for that...

Ellen, how warm is warm up north? We went from cool and rainy in the 50's F to suddenly mid- to high-80's F. We never seem to get spring here -- it tends to go straight from winter to summer.

Cristina, I'd like to hear your happy news, too...although a 2 lb loss is pretty happy news too! :goodscale

Susan, hope things are going well for your girls. How is Rachel doing? When does she get to come home?

I've been gaining and losing the same stupid 4-5 lbs since January, really stubborn plateau. Then missed 2 weeks of WW and gained 5 lbs! I was eating out of depression, not staying on program. But my leader said to watch my salt and keep drinking plenty of water, so I took off 6.3 lbs last week. Go figure... Still, was down 25, only down 21 now, but at least heading back in the right direction.

Oops, gotta run to work...hi to all the rest of the JL's!

Love,

Michelle 05-02-2006 04:31 PM

Katiecat...Your kitty picture is SO cute ~ where did you find it at?;)

Jane 05-02-2006 04:58 PM

Hiya ladies,

Back for just a few minutes.

Marti - glad you're liking the new monitor. It's amazing how the new feature can improve all the technical thingies we have. How are you liking your new shift at work? Getting home so much earlier must feel good. Are your duties about the same?

Michelle - aww, you're such a sweetie to say what you did. You just made my day! I hope you're able to get out and enjoy the sun for a bit.

Mary Kate - thank you very much! I eat veggie omelets sometimes. Is that about the same as a frittata? Peppers - red, green and yellow are my favorites to add. I, too, really like your avatar.

Mary and I have been sitting in the sun while her girls are napping. It's so nice when DDs grown up and are your friend and well as a DD, you know? Madison is going to be spending the night. Her twin already did, so she has to catch up, lol.

See ya on the flip side! :)

Jane 05-02-2006 07:32 PM

Molly knows she isn't allowed on our bed. :nono: Do you suppose she thinks that if she can't see me, I can't see her?

Michelle 05-02-2006 09:03 PM

Jane...That picture is absolutely adorable! She is just precious!;)

Michelle 05-02-2006 10:30 PM

 Hi...Where is everyone at today? Usually it's so hard to keep up with all the posting, and today, there has hardly been anyone here. I hope all of you are okay?

Katiecat 05-03-2006 02:04 AM

Good evening, ladies...

Michelle, I'm not sure where I got the kitty pic -- I think my husband found it online somewhere on a free avatar site and saved it for me. I like it too, makes me smile :)

Jane, the fritatta was really good -- had fresh spinach, mushrooms, red peppers, and tomatoes, with just a little bit of jack cheese on top. I made one at home with one egg, one egg white, free veggies, and 1 oz of lowfat cheese for a total of 4 WW points. Would even make a good lunch or dinner. Molly is so cute! I love dogs, but we really can't have one. We travel too often and too spontaneously -- having a dog is a huge emotional commitment and responsibility, like having a kid  Our cat misses us when we are gone, but she honestly sleeps about 22 hours a day, so it's not really that bad for her if we are gone for a long weekend, as long as she has lots of food and water. If it's more than 2-3 days, Mike will pop in to check on and feed her, and she's fine with that.

Went to Whole Foods Market tonight with Mike and splurged on tons of healthy treats. I found these ridiculously expensive fat-free chocolate sauces, all-natural, one cherry and one raspberry. I think they would be good to dip fresh fruit in, like strawberries, pineapple, banana, etc. I've been feeling bored and deprived and thought I'd try something new.

The silliest thing happened when I walked into their produce department for the first time -- there were just rows and rows and bins and tables filled with all these great fruits and vegetables. Everything looked so fresh and appealing; I bought artichokes, and I don't even know how to cook them, but they looked so good I couldn't resist! Do you remember that old Earth Wind & Fire song, "Boogie Wonderland"? For just a moment I imagined all the pineapples and peppers and broccoli dancing around and singing "Veggie Wonderland"! :carrot: :carrot: :cb: :cb: :carrot: :carrot: I know, I know...that's bizarre.

OK...it's really late here, almost 11pm, gotta get some sleep.

Sweet dreams to all, :cloud9:

Jane 05-03-2006 07:06 AM

Good morning ladies,

Michelle -thanks about Molly. I remember that you don't have pets. But wait - you have teens, so that's about the same, right, lol. I have one teen. The other 2 kids have passed that stage, thank goodness.

Mary Kate - thanks about my Molly. She really is a sweetie. I can totally see why you would hesitate to get a dog since you travel so much. I've heard about the sauces you've mentioned, but have never tried them. Let me know if they're good. I like your Veggie Boogie visual, lol.

Katy - do you have a good recipe for wild rice? I make it as a side dish, and have cooked it with chicken, but am looking for more recipes using it.

Madison stayed with us last night, and as I speak, she's on my side of the bed. Since the birds are singing, and the coffee's brewing, I thought I might as well get up anyway.

Hope you have a good day.

jules1216 05-03-2006 08:14 AM

Marti--what's al the noise--are they cutting down another tree??

Jane-what a cute dog--my sonused to cover his eyes or hide under the covers when we played hide and seek--we still joke with him about it...

Michelle--I think your avatar is cute too...where does everyone find these besides the ones on this website??

Katie--Sonoma diet has me eating healthier but I am not losing--I did WW once before but still used my points to have my Cokes (not the diet kind either) so I wonder if it didn't work because I was drinking my calories instead of eating them??? The frittata sounds wonderful!!! Too funny about the "Boogie Wonderland"

Jane 05-03-2006 10:05 AM

I'm back for just a minute...

Julie - lol about your son. My Katie used to cover her eyes when she was naked, lol. Kids can be so funny.

The temp is supposed to be around 80 degrees today, so I'm going out to work in the yard and soak up the sun.

See you later!

Marti 05-03-2006 11:08 AM

Good Morning Ladies!!

Did you notice the"morning" in that sentence. Not quite 8:00 yet and I'm up!:D :D :D

These hours are fantatic. I have SO much to do this morning though. James has me running around doing errands before work. Just waiting for things to open. (never thought that would be the case)

My new responsiblities has me so busy that I don't even take my first break until 5hrs after I'm there! Which hasn't bothered me yet since it's only been two days, but I'm sure it'll eventually get to me.

Michelle--The weather has been really beautiful here in Oregon hasn't it?? I'm wanting to go for morning walks or morning rides, was going to get my tires aired this weekene, ran out of time. One of these days.

MaryKate--You know, I used to think I was a night person too. I would be up at all hours. But now, I'm liking being up in the morning! And the fact that I don't work until the afternoon makes is even better, I can get things done. I think adjust to day is easier than adjusting to nights. How are you feeling by the way?? Arms still hurting?? Congrats on the 5lbs down!! (funny vision on the veggies!!)

Jane--That photo is SO adorable!! Our boy does the same thing, I should capture it on film. He just turned 8 the other day. And he's gotten so fat since he got fixed. James calls him is sausage boy. I told him he needs to take him out and walk him!!

Jules--All the noise is from the wood splitting. I think it's going to take days...for them to get it all split!!:D For some reason, I thought that part of the tree would be used for lumber, but it's just getting cut into fire wood. Wonder if they'll leave some for me??

Well I have some things I need to do in town before work, and if I'm going to get them done, I better get cleaned up and dressed. So I shall check in before work if I get this all done, and if not I will check in after work.

Hugs to all!

Katiecat 05-03-2006 12:34 PM

Good morning, ladies...

OK, I've been up 3 hours and already consumed like...12 points. Not so good, considering I only get 30 a day  Most of it was healthy stuff, too...I was just hungry, but then started writing down what I've had: 2 pieces toast, a banana, 1 cup of hot cocoa made w/1% milk...I'd better pace myself, or I'll be out of points before lunch

What do you ladies eat for breakfast? I get bored with the same things, so need to try something new, something easy (especially when I go back to my full shift next week), something not just low points/low cal/low fat but also nutritious, and satisfying enough to keep me from munching all the way until lunch. And while we're at it, any good lunch ideas? Fortunately, some of my coworkers got sick of the junk in the vending machines, and started sort of a healthy snack cart in the breakroom -- you can buy apples, bananas, oranges, yogurt, string cheese, celery or carrot sticks, rice cakes, etc. It's on the honor system -- if you take it off the shelf or out of the fridge, you are just supposed to put the $ in the box. They just started it this week, so hopefully it will be successful and everyone will be honest. It's been a lifesaver for me the last two days -- kept me from eating fast food or lunch out of the vending machine.

Jules, I've heard good things about the Sonoma Diet -- kind of like South Beach, I understand? I never seem to be able to stick with a specific diet "plan", but WW has worked for me because I can tailor it to whatever food I feel like, whatever is in season, on sale, whatever. I just gotta remember: stay within my points, measure portions, write everything down (really bad about that), and drink my water. And exercise -- literally need to get moving in that department! :woops: :belly: :ebike: I don't know how it is for you, but I had to give up regular Coke entirely. I know I was completely addicted to it -- headaches :headache: and nausea in the morning until I had one, feeling like I couldn't make it through the afternoon at work without one, it was bad. When I realized I was drinking an average of a sixpack (sometimes more!) a day of Coke, I quit cold turkey. Wasn't fun, either. :stress: But I started drinking Diet Dr Pepper (Diet Coke and Pepsi are ok, but I like DDP better for some reason). So, I drink one or two DDP a day -- not great for me, but better than six or more Cokes. And I drink a lot less diet soda if I make myself drink at least one large bottle of water a day. Babysteps, babysteps...

Marti, yeah, arm still hurts, some days it's better than others, thanks for asking... I'm trying to get into a Chronic Pain Management class my HMO offers, but having trouble being able to schedule the time off work. My workman's comp dr. (the hand surgeon) can't prescribe the class through my HMO, but she is trying to find out if a similar class is available through the university hospital so she could prescribe that instead. If she *prescribes* the class, they can't tell me that I can't have the time off work to attend because the "vacation calendar is full" and I won't have to use up my personal leave time, either. Excuse me...this isn't a vacation. It's a chronic pain management class because I was injured on the job and now I am in chronic pain. :frypan: :kickbutt: Or maybe I AM a chronic pain -- something like that, anyway

Hi Michelle -- I just went back and read your bio...we have about the same weight loss goals: about 20 lbs lost and about 100 to go. Maybe we can help push/pull each other uphill :) And I noticed your b-day is the same as my son Noah's...and my boys are 15, 20, and 22.

Jane, are you making a package of like Uncle Ben's wild rice mix, or do you have a bag of plain wild rice? In the recipe thread, somewhere, I had a really good soup made with ff mushroom soup, and leftover chicken breast, leftover wild rice mix, and some cooked veggies...

Hope to get Disneyland pics online in the next day or two, for anyone who's interested :) OK, gotta leave for work in about an hour and 15 min. I'm going to try to get in a 20 min workout (babysteps, huh?), a bottle of water, and a quick shower. Fortunately, "doing my hair" consists of coming my wet hair from the shower and shoving it into a ponytail holder. I'm SUCH a glamour girl, ya know...

Have a great day, ladies :grouphug:

jules1216 05-03-2006 12:57 PM

Jane--DD used to tell DH he couldn't look at her naked because he was a boy

Marti--With DS gone, DH has taught me to use the chain saw--it was kinda fun--I can't use the axe to split wood though--I have a visual of missing the log and hitting my shin with the axe so I can't bring myself to swing the axe hard enough

Katie--Sonoma is like South Beach with more veggies allowed and portion control based on the size of your plate. I was at the same place with the Coke and switched to water at the beginning of the year. I don't drink alot of diet sodas because it makes my crave the real stuff. I do drink Diet Sprite, both hot & cold tea and a moning cup of coffee. Sorry about you pain.

With my coworker out--there's lots extra to do and I need to "carry on" as Tim Gunn of Project Runway says....

Michelle 05-03-2006 01:18 PM

Good Morning Ladies ~ The nice bright sun is out again and it's another beautiful day here in Oregon!:sunny:

Marti ~ I have been loving our Oregon weather! I've been getting outdoors a little to get some fresh air. I'm glad you're adjusting to your new work schedule. I worked nights for 12.5 years when my daughters were younger so we didn't have to take them to a daycare. It was very hard on me and my health, and I never did adjust to those hours. Our bodies are just not meant for opposite hours!:?:

Katiecat ~ I found the free avatars and so I also copied some of them. They are so cute!;)

Jules ~ My avatar picture is from my daughter's file. She got them off some free site, but she doesn't remember where. I have quite a few teddy bears, kitties, beach sceneries and cartoon characters. I love to switch off with them sometimes.:dizzy:

Jane ~ We always had pets when I was growing up, but we live in an apartment and they charge a high fee for them, so we have never gotten one. I want so bad to get a pug dog! Those and boston terriers are my most favorites! Yes, I do have two teenagers, but one is married and out on her own. My younger daughter, who is actually 17.5 years old, is very easy to manage.

Thank you all of you for the kind and thoughtful words regarding my grandma. They are running so more blood tests on her today, and the reason she is so unresponsive right now, is because her doctor has her so heavily medicated with all the pain she is in. Have a good day everyone!:)

Jane 05-03-2006 03:39 PM

Hi ladies,

Robin - this is the place! Wow, you've done so well with your weight loss so far. I had taken a break, too, but am back at it. It's hard for me to exercise because I have trouble with my knee. I've been to a specialist, and he gave me some knee exercises to do and advised me to take it easy until I get back from Florida next week. Anyway, again, welcome.

Marti - haha, James has you for a new secretary/gofer. That's cute! I'm glad you're liking the new hours at work. Do the people seem friendly?

Mary Kate - that's good news about the healthy snacks at your work now. It's so much easier to stay OP with options like that. About the rice, well, I was talking about bagged wild rice. I've used the Uncle Ben's but don't like all the sodium in it. Hey, I'm VERY interested in your Disneyland pics and can't wait to see them.

Jules - you know how to use a chain saw?? My hat's off to you, hon. I think the Sonoma diet is a good one, too. But I guess I'm just a die-hard WW, lol. Too funny, what your DD told DH, lol.

Michelle - aww, let us know what the tests show about your grandma, ok? Too bad you can't have pets. Maybe a bird? Or a fish? Not quite the same as a dog, though.

Oh my gosh, the grandkids have worn me out today! We've been in the yard, marching around, singing "I'm Following The Leader, the Leader" letting each one take turns being the leader. Hey, does that count as exercise??

Later, ladies.....

Jane 05-03-2006 04:48 PM

I'm so excited!! I got the new 3 Fat Chicks on a Diet book delivered today, and it's awesome! Anyone who hasn't already ordered it, please do so asap. There is a link to Amazon at the top of the page. Btw, my story is on page 9. Better go dig out the shades 'cause I just know I'm gonna be a celeb now, lol, and I'll have to be incognito. ( :D )

Kudos to Suzanne, Jennifer and Amy for this wonderful contribution! :carrot:

da fat n da furious 05-03-2006 05:09 PM

Good day ladies,

Michelle, I like your bear pic, I used to teach tole painting which is what that bear is,,,pretty much painted anything that stood still with lil bears and bunnies.

Marti, so glad your life is getting on track,,,I know the feeling of working nights and feeling off sorts. Hope your grandpa leaves a few sticks for you,,,a evening camp fire with friends is something I so enjoy. Specially if someone can play the guitar and sings.

Katie, what a great idea bout the healthy snacks. I normally just bring enough to last 2-3 days and leave them either in my desk or in the fridge. Monte has been complaining of his arm,,,(not just his wrist) aching,,,worried of course more so about him needing surgery with you and how yours has turned out. Do you think in time it will settle down? I just don't understand about companies, they can just suck the life out of you and then not care other then that you can't do the job you used to do. I hope everything works out for you. Good job on the loss....

Jane, did the Dr. say to ice/heat the knee? Advil or something else for pain/swelling?

and welcome to our new member

I am hoping I can come back in to post more later...just on the run to do some banking...
later

Michelle 05-03-2006 05:25 PM

Angie ~ I also love bears and have a few avatars of them. I have SEVERAL bears around my place that I have collected. They all just have so many difference facial expressions and make me happy.;)

Jane ~ I did just go and order the 3FC book and I also order another WATP dvd since it would only cost me about $5 more, because then I got the free shipping. I'm excited to get my book also and I'll have to look on page 9!;)

da fat n da furious 05-03-2006 11:47 PM

Michelle I used to buy Boyd Bears all the time and give them away as gifts...
I do have a few bears around the house. One that is like a new born the way it *flops* in my arms.

Michelle 05-04-2006 12:40 AM

Angie ~ I also have several boyd bears. My grandparents have given one to my for Christmas for the past several years. I love all of their closthing and bows for decoration. I like your new avatar picture too.;)

da fat n da furious 05-04-2006 12:46 AM

Michelle, Im a theatre (or was) junkie,,and did a play last year called Iolanthe, 20 women as fairies and then 20 men as fairies,,,I was exhausted with doing makeup and costumes. I have one more day of Aladdin then i am completely done with theatre.

da fat n da furious 05-04-2006 12:55 AM

So as I was saying awhile back I saw my family Dr. about a referrel to see Dr. McKenna. He was so excited about this, he had just read a report on her and her office, all good. Did call Dr. McKenna's office to find out how long of a wait. 4-5 months! I was told 1 month,,,but the recptionist said that its gotten very busy, and they are hoping a new Dr. will be joining soon.
So as of right now I need something for the next 4-5 months..hating that this past month I have gained... had felt that I was doing really good,,,eating was on the most part clean. But the scale is showing a gain 8 lbs.
Need to drink my water I know...so hard when the weather is cold and blustery. *sigh just feel fusterated that I can't seem to get it together.

Marti 05-04-2006 03:32 AM

Hello girls...

Marykate--Chronic Pain is no thing to be so sensitive about, I don't understand why HMO can't just accept it! I hope you're able to get into the class. Keeping my fingers crossed!! I have a coworker who is doing WW, she is constantly counting her points. She's looking good...making me jealous! She's lost quite a bit since she started. The one things she hates doing is exercise. So she limits it to once a week. Here I workout 3-4 times a week and haven't lost....I've gained! Sheesh.

Jules--I have never thought about trying to use the chain saw. I think I would be too scared...which would make me too dangerous!! Now chopping w/an axe...I'm so not good at it. The darn thing weighs the same as I do (ok,not that much) and do I want to lift my body weight above my head?? Heck no!:D

Michelle--It is truly Spring here isn't it?? I'm adjusting pretty well to the hours. I didn't really mind the ones I was on, did get a lot of daytime at home, but made for short weekends due to sleeping. Poor daughter wouldn't see me until noon! Not fair. I want to send you grandma hugs....make sure she gets them!!

Jane--Yep, James had me running around this morning. Got all done. Who knew that the banks don't open until 10:00. Is it that way everywhere??? I work w/pretty much the same people the last half of my shift. And the people I used to work w/while I was in training during the day shift. I'm liking it so much. I get a variety....very hectic the first half...very mellow the last half! Jane, I'm jealous...I don't have my book yet!! Can't wait to share it w/some co-worker that I've been talking to about it.

Angie--I love the new advatar!! That fits you so much. I need to talk to my grandpa about leaving me some wood. I would love to have a firepit in my yard...I could strum the guitar...wouldn't sound pretty, and I could sing...that would match my guitar playing!!:D Hope you get to see the Dr sooner than 4-5 months. Seems such a long time compared to the one month they told you.

Well I'm feeling completely fat and bloated. Having major cramping from TOM. Don't want to excercise due to it but must force myself because it does help ease it up a little. But I'm a glutton for punishment and would rather curl up in a ball instead! Wish I could take things out and never feel this bad again.

I need to get to bed.

Hugs to all!

Jane 05-04-2006 08:40 AM

Good morning, Jaded Ladies,

Angie - so sorry about the wait to see the doc. But it will be worth it, and the time will pass fast now that summer is near. You tole paint too? Sheesh, is there any craft you don't do? About my knee, the doc gave me a scropt for Darvon but I haven't filled it yet. I've been taking Aleve when I really, really need it. Your avatar is cool!

Michelle - yay for ordering the book. You're gonna like it! I used to do WATP and liked it. The offer of different levels is a good idea. Gives a person something to work up too. About bears, my DD Mary collects the Cherished Teddy ones. Too cute!

Marti - no banks in my town, but Vincennes has so many that there's a lot of competion. Some drive-throughs open as early as 7:30 for the working crowd. Most open at 8. 10 seems awfully late! Aww, I'm glad you're happy at work. Hope your cramps are gone today.

Julie - hope you're having a good day so far. :)

Mary Kate - good morning!

I sat up last night and read the 3FatChicks diet book. It is absolutely perfectly written. They injected just the right amount of humor in it, and the way the describe all the diets available is great. Good recipes, too.

Today I'm going to attempt to work in the yard, if it doesn't bother my knee, and if it doesn't rain. What are your plans for the day?

Cafe Ole 05-04-2006 08:47 AM

Hi -- wanted to pop in fast & say good morning! Ok now I am leaving as my students are graduation today so I sorta need to be there! :)

Have a great day!

Katiecat 05-04-2006 10:25 AM

Good morning ladies  Happy Thursday!

Woke up waaaay too early this morning. :tired: Tim has a hard time getting up, so he sets an alarm radio across the room to go off, then keeps getting up and snoozing it. This morning after it went off the first time at 4:45 I couldn't get back to sleep, tossed and turned for a while, then finally gave up and got up to take a hot shower. Now he's gone to work and I'm feeling sleepy and have to go to work in a couple of hours. Arrrgh...think I'll try to go catch another 20 winks maybe...

Angie, I think I missed something. What are you on the wait list for with this new doctor? 'Cause I know you just had surgery a couple of months ago, around the time I did. I've had a few friends at work that had really good results from the surgery for carpal tunnel. My problem was weird -- radial tunnel problems are typically up in the elbow and down the whole forearm, and the procedure is a lot more invasive, the recovery time longer, and the outcome is a lot more iffy. If that's what's going on with Monte, find out as much as you can -- I tried a lot of things before finally giving in and having the surgery. Feel free to PM or email me.

Marti, maybe you are putting on muscle? :lifter: :strong: I know, everyone always says that, but muscle really does weigh more than fat. If you are feeling better, and stronger, and your clothes are fitting better (not counting TOM, of course, LOL), then that's a good thing. I have such a hard time motivating myself to exercise, and unfortunately my hobbies don't involve rock climbing or jogging...more like...curling up with a good book and a soft blankie... :cloud9: Or another hobby: sitting around a campfire in my friend's backyard, singing really awful Girl Scout Camp songs...badly... while my friend strums her guitar...badly...;) Still coming to SF this summer?

Michelle, yep, everytime I go to Amazon, the deals are so good, and it's so easy to add on "just one more" to get that free shipping, heehee... Cute new avatar!

Jane, page 9, huh??? Kiddo, you're a star! :dancer: Do you know if anywhere else is carrying the book besides Amazon? I have something like $120 in gift certificates for Borders and was planning on ordering something from there this week. But if it's only on Amazon, I guess I'll just make the sacrifice and put in an Amazon order, too...you know what torture it is and how I suffer when I'm forced to shop for books. (Can you see how pale and weak I looked when I wrote that? I'm staggering around and look like I might actually faint or get the vapors or something dramatic like that...) :faint:

Hi Robin, my husband is from MI, near Detroit...his mom lives in Bay City, what a pretty little town. She sent us Spartan sweatshirts a couple of years ago for Christmas :D

Well, shoot...no more time for 20 winks. Maybe 10? Or maybe I'll just give up and go to work sleepy... Hi to all the rest of the ladies, and I'll catch ya later...

Hugs,
Mary Kate

Stopping in for a real quick "hi!" Lots of work today so I am here on break and need to get checking yesterdays entry!!

LakeGirl 05-04-2006 11:34 AM

Good morning, ladies! I'm still here, it has just been a busy week! But with that being said, I am now down almost ten pounds! YAY!

Someone was asking about what we eat for breakfast. I'm kind of boring as it is usually a bowl of Special K or Smart Start with a banana and 2% milk. Some days, when cereal is not sounding good, I'll stop at Dunkin Doughnuts on my way to work for coffee and a lowfat blueberry muffin. Not too often though, as the muffin doesn't stay with me as long as the cereal does!

This weekend is the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival and I'm very excited! As a knitter, this will be my first festival and I am looking forward to some serious yarn porn! I'm worried about food options there and want to be very careful! I've been doing well and don't want to get out of control on a day when I am out of my current regiment!

Just thought I'd share my amusing pet picture. We have a small trashcan that sits on our counter in the kitchen and one morning a few weeks ago, we woke up to this: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y89...rl38/Jonah.jpg

Katiecat ~ Hope you get back down for a little nap so you make it through your work day. I love Amazon for their prices; you can't beat them with the free shipping!;)

Kimberly ~ That picture is SO cute! Great job on your weight loss!:carrot:

Angie ~ Your avatar picture totally fits you! Hope you're having a great day.;)

Marti ~ I'm absolutely LOVIN this spring weather! I used to do your old hours, and I also felt sorry for my girls come Saturday mornings, and I really felt out of it the whole weekend. I just never did adjust to those hours. Our bank opens at 9am.:D

Jane ~ I also have quite a few cherished teddies. I LOVE all kinds of teddy bears!

I was able to talk with my grandma on the phone this morning for about 5 minutes; she sounded so weak. They're still running some tests because the xrays showed nothing, and she's in so much pain. I hope all of you have a wonderful Thursday!

I'm back, ladies,

Robin - have fun at the graduation today.

MaryKate - if I were you, I'd go to the Border's website and see if the book is available there. I feel certain it would be available everywhere. The admins will even be doing a book tour. How exciting! Sorry you didn't get enough sleep, sweetie. When that happens to me, I take an Excederin PM to make sure I get better sleep the next night.

Jules - hi Jules, and bye Jules, lol. Come back when you can stay longer, lol.

Kim - OMG, I laughed my butt off when I saw the pic of your cat. :lol3: Too funny!! Speaking of sheep, (well, you were!) my SIL and BIL used to raise them. They sheared them, and she even had her own spinning wheel. About food at the festival, do you know what will be available? If not, maybe you should have something light before you go so you won't be so tempted.

Cristina - aww, thanks. You know, I really think I'm going to have to take the easy chair out of the alcove in our bedroom, and replace it with a treadmill. It would stick out into the room somewhat, but that really wouldn't look too bad, would it? I did so much better with the food and everything before I blew out the motor on my last treadmill.

Michelle - hope your grandma gets ok. At least the xrays didn't show anything. You know what they say, No news is good news.

Neal has been putting border blocks and mulch around the house for out flowers. One of the guys working on the porch tromped in some of my impatiens, and so we're hoping if we do this now, they'll get a clue. The cement blocks that go around the porch are in, and they're letting it "set" for a couple of days. It will be nice-sized - 22' x 8'. Lots of porch-sittin' room, lol.

Someone asked about our house. It's a modular home, and we got to say lots about the quality of the construction of it, and most of the details, like quality of the carpet, etc. One thing they didn't want to do was put the window over the tub - said it's against regulations - but in the end, they did it. Everyone who comes here can't believe we just moved in. But I'm one of those people who can't stand living out of boxes! Anyway, I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Any Jaded Lady who needs to get away from the rat race, come and stay in my guest room. It's very serene.

Gotta run,

jules1216 05-04-2006 07:20 PM

Welcome Robin!!

Mary Kate--try not to overdo at work and make sure you get your sleep in

Kimberly--I love that picture!! Where's the Festival you are going too? Boonsboro Days is in September and the last couple of years they have had a lady with her sheep showing how she spins the yarn with a spinning wheel--very cool. June 9, 10 & 11 is the Mountain Heritage Festival. It's a huge field with about 8-12 big tents filled with every kind of craft you can imagine. The have it every year in June & September. (Here's the website http://www.jeffersoncounty.com/festival/crafter.html) It's between Charlestown and HarpersFerry. I have been picking up a few pieces each time from Bay Pottery. The one glaze they do is a blue-purple and another is lavender--love them both.

Crisitina--I have been bad this week about going to Slim-n-Tone. I am definitely going in the morning.

Michelle--so sorry again about your grandmother

Jane--my husbands Dad & step-mom live in Fort Wayne and his half sister and her family live in Indianapolis. There's some hot rod thing that FIL wants us to come to this summer. We might just have to get together for lunch. We are still talking about AZ this fall.

I might check back later if not everyone have a good night and I'll talk to you in the morning.

Jane 05-04-2006 09:10 PM

Jules - I would be very interested in meeting you for lunch if you get over/down this way. Just let me know when, ok?

Neal and I are taking off in the morning to meander in Amish country. You've heard me mention the really good restaurants they have. Although they have some not-so-healthy choices, there's plenty available that is good for you, too. What's even more fun are the general stores and flea market. I love that Neal is retired and we can do this kind of thing on an impulse. I've been spending too much time on the computer this week, and feel the need to go do something fun with my hubby.

I'll be back tomorrow night, or sometime Saturday.

da fat n da furious 05-05-2006 12:57 AM

Kim,,,is that a tupperware container on your cats head?...lol Poor thing will she be poking her nose in that box again?

Jane,,,have fun tomorrow realx...and enjoy time with Neil

Jules,,,my old neighbour collects that type of pottery didn't know it was called that. Very nice. Specially since her house has a bit of a nautical look about it. The blue just accents it well.

Tanner is done is play...*sniff it was a success, with alot of parents just in awe of their children's talent. Tanner had a few theatre friends come and watch...
Im exhausted and will now spend part of this weekend washing costumes. We plan to go to Sylvan for my neighbours birthday party.
Then i think Im going to bury myself in healthy books,,,first off Body For Life since I have it,,,Dr. Phil's since I have that one too. And will look for that 3fc book also at Chapters. I figure if I surround myself in good,,,only good will come of it. I went shopping today,,,had to go 1 size up, not a good thing and have to admit I knew I have gained weight this past month. I don't think you can call how Im feeling depressed or even anger. Just a bit feeling out of control. So with everything out of the way,,,maybe i can regain the control. Our house is in shambles, still. We are thinking of buying land and building on it then selling it. The housing boom here is rediculous. Our home just jumped another 40 grand from 2 months ago.
There is so much happening or has happened in our home,.,,can't even think of where to start. But know that the eating needs to be curbed,,,
And that Ladies is me in a nut shell....

Marti 05-05-2006 03:58 AM

Evening Ladies!!

I was so busy this afternoon before work I didn't have time to post! Tomorrow is James' birthday and I wanted to make sure that he had a cake when he came home!! (just what we need around here)

Angie--Just seeing photos of your son in action, I was proud of him. He has such a way about him that I just see such a great future for him!! I'm glad the play was such a success!! You know, just the other day I was thinking of doing the same thing.....healthy book reading. I have a few laying around here, that I haven't fully read. Maybe it's just time for me to do that.

Jane--You have no bank in your town? I knew you said you lived in a small town, but didn't realize how small it was. What is the population there?? I so wish I could be joining you and Neil in Amish country!! It sounds like so much fun and calm and relaxing. Tell us all about it when you get back.

Jules--Your festival sounds like fun!!! I want to go there too! First I need to go to Amish country w/Jane, then to your festival in your town w/you, then it's off w/Kimberly to the Maryland Sheep and wool festival to find me a sweater, then.....:D I love to hear about what other types of festivals and things go on in other towns and cities and states. Doesn't seem like Oregon has a lot....that or I'm just not adventerous enough to find them all!

Michelle--As Jane said...at least the x-rays didn't show anything. She may be weak for all that she's been through so far. Keeping her in my prayers!

Kimberly--I love that photo!! Curious kitty eh? A wool festival sounds like fun. I've never heard of one,but it still sounds fun. I would love to learn to knit. Someday I have plans too. I read somewhere that if you have an old sweater made of wool, and you want to give it a new look....cut down the center, wash it and all the frayed areas will matt up and you'll have a cardigan sweater! How true that is I'll never know, don't have a wool sweater!

MaryKate--Muscle???? That's just too funny! Naw....I'm expanding....if I wasn't expanding then maybe it would be possible. You see, I have one of those spare tires we carry around our middles.....but mine has a flat. So I have this deflated tire around mine! So sad and so discouraging. Must do something about it before it's totally unfixable.

Robin--Hello and Welcome, hope to hear more from you in the days ahead!!

Ok, it's passed my bedtime and I better get going.

Hugs to all!!
