  • Melissa...WHOOHOO!! Glad the fairy fat mother paid you a visit. Congrts on doing your workout. It get's easier each day.

Brandy...Your clay vase with flowers sounds real pretty. Please do post a picture when it's done. Never made it up to work on the quilt today, will do that tomorrow.

Linda...Congrats on your loss as well. Glad I brought a smile to your face about my pants. I was pretty happy also.

I'm up a half pound, but no biggie. I know it's all that water I've been drinking because it's been so hot and I've been busy the last couple of days mowing. Had my worse hot flash today. I was red as a beet for over an hour! If I hadn't of been in a meeting, I would of stripped naked just to cool off. See you chickies tomorrow.

  • Morning crafty ladies-

Well dont we all just have homrone he** raging? I guess I'm the weird one. I haven't had a period in 10 yrs due to my birth control shot, but I get KILLER hot flashes (I prefer to call them power surges) due to the shots. Now, its one thing to be a normal age for hot flashes and to have them (no, I'm not diminishing how bad they are!) but try being 23 and having a hot flash in the middle of Meijer so bad that you're stripping down to the least you can publically wear without getting arrested. People just dont get it! They have gotten a bit better over the years, but they still suck.

I had a great softball game last night which we won, but I jarred my ankle and its throbbing now so I'm taking it a bit easy today. I might do a walk this evening if it feels ok. I really miss it when I dont workout in the morning. I just seem to drag around and never get anything done.

I'm off to the store to buy my neice a bday present. (She'll be 3!) I have some ideas, but this is for the neice who lives a few states away, and I just am not sure of what she's really into. Now my other one who I see almost everyday has a birthday in another week and I have no shortage of ideas that I KNOW she'd adore, so I'm just using some of those for this gift idea as well.

Hope you have a great day!
  • Melissa...I also started having hot flashes at 39. I was hoping I would follow in my mothers foot steps and be done with the hole mess by the time I was 41. No such luck for me, I just turned 53 and still dealing with an occasional visit from TOM. So far he has left me alone for 2 months now. I still get the terrible urge to eat every thing in sight that time of the month even if tom doesn't pay a visit.

Brandy...Hope your ankle is feeling better. Just take it easy and ice it.

I finally made it up to my sewing room today and got it cleaned up. Straighten up my fabric stash and got a little sewing done on my quilt. Got the first row of kids almost done. I had to go back and resew all of the kids since my satin stitch wasn't wide enough the first time. Just love making more work for my self.

  • Hi gang . . . sorry I was missing yesterday and I don't have much to say today either . . . just wanted to let you know I am still alive (I think). We are sitting in the middle of a severe low pressure bomb and I've got one of the worst migraines I've had in many a long month (actually since hurricaine season last year). See you all later.
  • Hi gang...Linda, I'm so sorry to hear you have a horrible migrain. Hope you are feeling better real soon.
It has been very cool and pouring down rain since 3am. We are going to be in the low 40's tonight and I feel like turning on my furance to warm up now. Never have a hot flash when I need one. LOL...I'm doing respite care for a really sweet 10 year old girl for the next 11 days. We are going to do some machine embroidery tomorrow, she wants to learn to sew. So we are going to make a baby bib for here nephew and embroider a real cute turtle on it. I got my first row of kids done today. Yippie!!! Tomorrow, I'm going to play with the paper dolls and get another 21 kids dressed and ready to iron on the quilt. Well it's getting late and I have been up since 5 with the little one, see you gals in the morning.

    Cheryl
  • Melissa...I can't wait to finish the quilt either. Today I helped the little gal staying with us do some machine embroidery. She did a turtle on a baby bib she is making. Between helping her, I tried to press kids together with their clothes, so I can lay them out on the quilt for placement before the final pressing. I have to do about 90 kids to finish the quilt.
Sorry to hear you locked your keys in your car. I've done that, only I was in a rest area at 2am when I did it. Lucky for me, a trucker was very nice and was able to get the back slider window in my pickup open.

Linda...Hope you are feeling better today. Here's a hug for you!

Went and saw "Cars" at the movies this afternoon. Really cute!! Talk to you ladies tomorrow.

    Cheryl
  • Hi Gang . . . I'm here . . . more or less. The low pressure is still stuck over Atlantic Canada and I keep getting little migraines that sort of come and go which is definitely better than before but not exactly what I would call "feeling good".

On top of that, all the time I've been able to stand looking at the computer screen has pretty much been spent on the "work project".

Hopefully I'll be back to normal soon. In the meantime, keep on moving and shaking, gang and I'll see you soon.
  • Hi gang,

Linda...I'm glad to hear you are feeling a litle better. Hope you are back to your old self by the weekend.

Melissa...Pixar has a new movie coming out this fall called "Open season". Aniamls against the hunter. Looks really cute and I will be seeing it. Charlottes Web is also coming out and looks like it will be excellent.

Didn't get much crafting done today, came home from church and took a nap. I'll be back at it tomorrow. have a good one ladies.

  • Hi ladies,

I'm having a rough time. Well, you know that one of my friends died, and I have to play his funeral this morning. I am hoping to keep my composure enough to get through. My other friend who was just diagnosed last week passed away on Friday and her funeral (which I also have to play) is later this week. It has been a rough week. They both will really be missed.

On the lighter side of life, we had a double header softball game last night. We lost both, but at least played ok in the second game. (We were having lots of problem in the first game.) We also had our first route safety crew meeting for the Breast Cancer 3-day walk in Detroit. We had a nice picnic and got to know some of the new crew members. It got me really excited about participating in this years event.

I ran my fastest run this morning. It was a short one, but I went 1.6 miles in 15:17!!! It was really fun. My hubby competed in his first TRIATHALON yesterday and he placed 4th in his age group. I'm so proud of him.

I'm heading off to do a turbokick workout, and then get ready for the funeral.
  • Hi there all you crafty ones . . . I'm almost back to normal (or in my case, what tries to pass for 'normal') . . . at least I'm not in pain right now.

Cheryl . . . I love animation. All the movies I've bought in the past year or so have been animated. I think they are absolutely great.

Brandy . . . My heart goes out to you, girl. It's so awful to hear about the passing of your friends. Stay strong for all of those who will be counting on you to make the sad times a little easier. Congratulations on the softball and running endeavours. Keep up the good stuff.

I've been keeping a fairly low profile today to avoid scaring up another migraine . . . sometimes a change to higher pressure can trigger them too . . . and the sun finally peeked through later this afternoon. Hopefully it will be around for a few days. The long term forecast is saying that Alberto (now a minor hurricane) will be in our part of the Atlantic by Friday. Hope they are wrong.

Came across a cute little saying on a cross-stitch sampler today . . . LET'S TRY TO GET THE FUN BACK IN DYSFUNCTIONAL . . . suited my mood quite perfectly.

See you later, ladies. Keep on moving and shaking and doing the other good stuff.
  • Brandy...I'm so sorry to hear that both of your friends have passed. I know it will be hard to paly at the funeral, but stay strong and I know they are watching over you. Congrats on your running time, that's awesome.

Linda...So happy to hear you are feeling better and the weather is trying be to nice.

Not much going on here. I have to start mowing again tomorrow. We are suppose to be in the 80's by Wednesday. Me, I'd like a nice 75. I just won 100 large spools of poly machine embroidery thread on ebay. can't wait to get them, so I can sew out some designs on dish towels. Getting back to my quilt sometime tomorrow. Have a good one ladies.

    Cheryl
  • Good Morning, crafty ladies . . .

We've got sunshine and nice comfy, coolish temperatures this morning. Hope it continues for a long, long time.

Wow Cheryl . . . what a great prize. I know you'll be able to put it to great use. Have a great time with the mowing.

Nothing too much on my agenda today. The work stuff will no doubt keep me busy and I've got backstitching to do on a cross-stitch project I started last year . . . actually a set of 4 that make up one total picture, and I ran out of steam on the last part . . . see, I do go back to them eventually. Guess it's time to take some more pictures since I've got a few little projects finished up.

Anyway, time to get moving and shaking, girls. Have a great day and keep on doing the good stuff. See you soon.
  • Yippee . . . the Fairy-Fat-Mother visited me last night and took away another 1.8 pounds to ugly-pound-heaven when she left.

New shawl pattern sounds delightful, Mel. I love shawls that have some way of keeping themselves in place. Absolutely right . . . practicing maintenance is a good thing.

    See you later, gang.
  • Good morning Ladies!! Hope we all have a good hump day. I've gotta get some shopping done today. My hubby's birthday is next week, but I leave on Monday morning to go on our church's youth white water rafting trip, so I need to have everything ready because I wont return until the evening of his birthday.

My walk was nice this morning. I went my usual 4 miles with the neighbor. It must be a nice day because lots of people were out (we usually only see 1 other person out consistently.) Its going to start to get hot and humid here again. I hate that humid sticky mess. The only saving factor is the pool.

I haven't been crafting lately with all the commotion and losses in my life. I'll get back to it soon. I just need to let life settle down and get back in control of things.

    meowee-Hooray for the loss!!!
  • Brandy . . . Hi. Mel . . . Hi. Everybody else . . . where are you? Goodness it is quiet in here and just about everywhere else on the boards I've been looking, too.

We have rain again . . . our little bit of joy from Alberto. I'm feeling a little down too . . . no headache but a bit of stomach flu I guess.

Anyway, see you soon gang. Have a good day.
