i need to loose some weight---anyone have any ideas??? i think i will have to start with our old standby---------- didn't we try to pick up a new habit a week or something-----not eating at night could drive me batty but i may try it out------ on a sad note-- TWO highschool kids have died this week----one sixteen year old hung himself and i am not sure how the other one died yet,but the rumour is a drug overdose----the kids around here are SO upset-----both highschools are uptown where i work,and you could just sense the tension and sadness in the market-----horrible.---it makes you feel so bad when you see kids like Kiwi's gang and how great it can be----you just wish these unhappy kids could see that highschool is NOT the be all and end all,but their thinking is so short term--------------sorry to depress you but it's been bothering me all week................................

Bagz- that is just heartwrenching! I can't tell you how many teens I've seen die or near death due to drugs, depression/suicide , drunk or careless driving.. I don't know how parents stay sane in these times :( .. It is wonderful to hear bout the kiwis and boypeach in the world -- not much ya can do cept watch fer signs of a wrong path in those that you know and try to help.. :shrug:
Kiwi... oh how I would definitely RIP yer KITCHEN apart ..Sick I know I love that kind of major challenge! GET UP early!!!!! Tell DH to take a hike!!!! Put on some gettin jiggy with it moooosic, and BEGIN!!!!!! For a while it will look worse! I want to see an updated floor plan with no junk, mess, or poo... must go do something...look busy or :kickcan: |
Geez. I wrote a long post and hit the wrong key and poof! all gone.
Bagz, depression and drugs are the scourge of this generation of kids. I guess it's always been, but it seems worse now. So sad. Kiwi! what Schatzi says -- she's the expert on overhaulin' a house. I was going to say go through one box a day, but that would be slow torture --- do not attempt to do it without really loud music... makes all the difference. I always clean w/ tunes, makes it almost painless...well, not really, but it helps. I'd put your table and chairs in the boxed up stuff area. Even if the windows are too high, at least you get plenty of daylight there. I worked all day in the yard yesterday and I hurt!!!! DH kept saying "don't over do it" but I did anyway. Then he pulled a muscle in his back changing a tire on his tractor. We're both just a couple of crips. I always put my dogs in the laundry room when we leave the house, but Sunday DH and I were just going to run up and get some grocerys. We left the laundry room door open. Our golden retriever managed to somehow injure his tail and wagged blood all over the carpet in my bedroom. It looked like a crime scene. The carpet cleaner guy is coming tomorrow, but I think it's probably permanent. I scrubbed and scrubbed and you can still see it. Dang dog. He has a wee bit o the separation anxiety and I think he probably chewed his own tail. We were only gone an hour, I swear. |
Wabbu!!!! Have you tried Oxy on the Blood??? It works wonders on blood and wine (heh heh) Poor Puppy!!!!!!! My gf had a dog who lost and chewed out his hair due to separation anxiety.. The doc put him on some sort of antidepressant .. oooh Kiwi, me wabby and you would have sooo much fun tacklin that kitchen! The blender would be the last appliance to move as I would be busy makin frappes and margies as we plowed through yer crappola.. We'd have you to the point that you wouldnt give a rats hiney what we tossed out :lol:

Not Dead. Still Fat. Procrastinating.
Hope I'm forgiven and will be embraced by y'all. DH is talking about retiring to Maine. I'll need my woolies, but at least hot flashes won't make me feel like I'm melting. Must. Do. Something. Constructive. Yeah, right. |
i WANT to go out in the garden and work,but it's too windy---i should stop procrastinating and just DO it!!!- at least i could clean out the greenhouse,no wind in there------i just found out that the boy who died on the weekend was at a party "commemorating" the boy who commited suicide---he apparently mixed his booze with "oxycontin"{ a VERY serious problem among teens they have been saying recently}---the rumour is---he went home ,passed out and never woke up----accidental,but MY GOD,what difference does it make if you lose your child to "typical" {hopefully not too typical,but how do you ever know????} teenage behaviour.blahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh--- i need to go re-arrange kiwi's kitchen and drink margies with shatz and wabs--------------
|
hey painty!!! welcome back----if you are retiring up here soon,we may need your help in the Kiwi-Kitchen---there is an extreme reno happening---we are calling TY and I would like it if NATE could visit---and from Canada we can send Debbie Travis {anyone watch home and garden tv???}

Hiya Painty!:wave: You know you can always get a warm reception here.... retiring to Maine.... I thought ppl retired to warm weather states. Why must you do something constructive? Why not have a laid back day?
Bagzie, I'm a warm weather gardener myself. We've got a sunny 62 degree day goin' on here. Wish I didn't have to work. Oh, yeah, I guess hanging on the 'puter all day isn't really considered work. OK, wish I didn't have to be stuck inside at the office. Schatz, the carpets needed cleaning anyway, so I'll let the carpet cleaner guy deal w/ it. Maybe I should get some Oxy stuff in case it ever happens again. My dog is usually ok because he's left w/ our other mutt either in the laundry room or outside in there kennel. I guess something about us being gone and leaving him roaming the entire house set him off. Neurotic mutt. He's the same one who will eat a dog bed a month. Thank goodness for the $20 dog beds at Costco. Wait a minute -- that's $240 a year for dog beds --- crazy. We've always thought that as soon as he grew out of his puppy stage he'd be better. He's now 11 yrs. old, so I guess we can quit holding our breath, it ain't gonna happen. |

:yikes: on the doggie mess! Isn't it amazing what they can come up with to put a big monkey wrench in your day? A little while ago DH and I were sitting here at our respective computers and the dog was chewing on something under the desk. I didn't think anything of it until I started to notice a smell. At first I thought it was food, which didn't make any sense, then I realized it must have to do with Jet. Sure enough she had totally chewed up a pencil (not for the first time, but usually I catch it before it's almost all gone!) -- I pulled the eraser and the totally mangled metal sleeve from the eraser out of her mouth and she seems to have gotten all the rest. There's an interesting smell on her breath.... :rolleyes: Quote:
After I finish here, I think I will go tackle the "shoe corner" (labelled mess on my layout because that's eggzackly what it is). Bagz, I think those H&G folks would take one look and run in the other direction. I love the British house makeover shows on BBC -- cleaning sounds much more amusing with a British accent. Hey Painty!! Glad to see you back. Y'all come retire to Maine! -- although I have to say most people seem to do the reverse... Jet has been doing lots of gardening here: I have some lovely holes to plant bulbs or something, right in the middle of the yard.... Some of the mud is beginning to dry up, but you still wouldn't want to go out there with a decent pair of shoes on! Kiwi |
First, public congrats to KiwiDD who is making her mama proud!
Second, I'm still not talking to you all. I'm talking to myself. I have not been appreciating this birthday as it's one that doesn't get appreciated but I got this huge box from a cousin who I haven't seen since we were 12. She's a few weeks older than me. The box had a desk in it, that's how big it is, and was heavy. I thought it was a desk. She had asked me my shoe size and sent a desk. Anyway, tonight DS and I were good moods and opened the box. Inside were more presents than I am years old. Really really amazing stuff. There are toys, roller stakes, candy, note pads, spying devices, Menorah candles, lint rollers, ink pens, lawn chairs, umbrellas, car smelly things, Christmas tee shirts (plural is correct), a book about Tipper and Al Gore, Democratic jewelery, calendars, a water bottle, fake finger nails, flip flops, socks, wrapping paper, bows, picture hanging nails, ... other stuff I can't remember ... and frame that holds picture of my parents and me as a baby and a picture of DS. Very sweeet. You know it's got to be a great year if it begins like this. Oh yes. A flea comb, ear plugs, note cards .... it went on and on and on. |
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the purdiest peach on the tree!!:hat: :gift: :hb: :belly:
