Morning!
Well, up, up and away for me this week. From 86.1 (sorry Lindor, I didn't update my ticker last week) to 88.3 this morning. Wow. Sorry. Well Done girls on your losses so far, esp. Augigi! I went swimming the other day, for the first time in about 10 years! It's pretty scary hey! I've switched to drinkig peppermint tea again (soooo yummy). I have less sugar with that compared to anything else, and no caffeine. Back into the swing of things today, uni all day. I dont mind, I'm looking forward to getting back into routine. Oh guess what, I forgot to tell you. I'm flying to Melbourne on Friday night, for my aunties 50th! Woo! It'll be bf's first time on a plane, haha! Then we are bussing back overnight Sunday with my family. I love overnight busses...so quiet and uncomfortable! :P Have a great day ladies Kylie |
on my way 2 shops but weighed in at 68 this morning, another kilo loss. yahooo. must be making up 4 the few weeks there i was stalling
vonni |
Great to see so many losses this week - and an extra woo hoo to you Gen for getting below 90kg. That's an awesome effort, and I'm really happy for you.
Sorry team - but I gained 0.9kg :( and weighed in at 89.8kg. The good news is that I followed through will yesterday's promised goals - all of them - and I WILL make this a good week. Today's goals are to: • Walk for an hour • Eat no more than 1700 calories • Drink 2 litres of water • Do 50 situps Lindor I hope your back is feeling better really soon - it's so debilitating when it's stuffed. I hope everyone has a good week this week. I promise I'll bring in a better result for the team next Monday. :) Ani |
Thanks augigi - I will look into Calorieking
Lindor - Please add me to the group list - When I started at the beginning of the year I was 123 kg, last weeks weigh in I was 116.5kg, this week 115.5kg |
Welcome Mumtolian, I am the local luker.
Well done on your losses ladies.:carrot: But sorry to say I can't join you this week, weighed in the same as last week. But at least it's not up. Wish I had thought to measure myself before I started, my Hubby says I have a butt!!! And it's not like him to even notice things like that . He's a boob man.:o Lindor, I will weigh in on Mondays now so it is not to confusing for you. Calorie King sounds great, I will look into that as well maybe all I need is a change. Have had a good day, and now going to eat dinner and go to bed with a book, before I start picking at things I should not. Have a great day people. |
Slightly better today. I did have Burger Rings, but other than that healthy. I did 40 min cardio and 30 min with my PT. (she laughs at me, cause I keep telling her "stretch harder damn it!)
|
Good Morning Everyone
I'm just checking in:) I have lost 2 kilo's since I started posting so am now dow to 82kg from 84kg. I hope to stay on track this week but an expecting some upheaval in the house as I have approached Child Support Agency to get some money for my son off my ex. The last time I did this my ex came around and broke windows and helped himself to my belongings in the garage. Hope he leaves us alone as with the weight I'm losing I'm starting to feel good about myself again. Sue:D |
Morning all!
Well done with the losses ladies! And for those of us who didn't lose, the fact that we are still here shows our determination. I think my back is feeling a tad better this morning, but I am not going to get excited about that just yet!! Dietwise - I earned myself $7.50 yesterday. I was a little easy on myself with the exercise and only did 20mins of some light upper body exercises. I still haven't earned enough to afford a bad day yet, so I have to be good today - not that I am saving for bad days! Sue, I hope that ex of yours behaves himself!! You don't deserve that sort of behaviour. Keep your phone nearby and don't hesitate to call the police if he does present as a problem! Seems I already had you down at 82kg with the group effort, but well done anyway! Every little bit does add up! While on the subject of the team effort, I set us the task of totalling '105kg lost' by April 30. Ladies we have done that!!! Well done!!! :carrot: Shall we aim for 112kg by the 30th now? That's 5kg from eleven of us in a week? Doable??? Let's give it a shot hey? I gotta run (as usual)! Keep up the good work team, and have a great day all!! :) |
I reckon 11 of us can lose 5kg next week - I'm back on track and am hoping to contribute at least 0.5kg to that total :)
Yesterday I walked for an hour, ate 1800 calories, drank 2L of water - all good. Today's goals are to: • Walk for an hour; • Eat no more than 1750 calories; • Do my upper body weight resistance exercises; • Drink 2L of water; and • Try not to get sucked in to watching Big Brother :) |
Sorry I haven't been around much, bit self absorbed at the moment I think! I'll pop back tomorrow with my weigh in number, I hope its not a disappointment, but I think it just might!!
|
Hi all. Well I am not sure how my weight will go this week. Either be up with stupid eating or down with no eating.
My bubba girl (1yr old) was admitted to hospital y/day afternoon. And is still in. I worked a couple hours and DH had kids. Apparently she just out of the blue shook a bit then went all floppy. 12 yr old called ambulance then me. Her temp is all over the place and they want it to stabilise on its own before they will let her home. It was 38.4 at the time the ambos took it and I thought they convulsed above 40, but apparently if there is a sudden rise, no matter even if it goes from 35 - 37 (norm) too quick sometimes the body can flip out over it. She has no signs of anything wrong other than could be her teeth. She has gone against the norm and cut 2 molar teeth and 1 almost through. She did have a mild fever and I gave her medicine at 11am. It was ok after that. I asked DH to keep eye on her. He said she hadn't felt warm but I said to him to keep checking every couple hours with ear thermometer. He forgot...grrrrr! He feels bad now but at least it may have been enough of a scare to make him realise we do things for a reason. I am pretty cranky at Dr though. This morning I told him her urine is smelly and asked if perhaps she has bladder infection. ( temp is usually sign of infection and nothing else seemed wrong) He said that he'll organise a bag to be put on 2 be tested. Well it's now 14 hours later and I WAS THE ONE who approached nurses and got the bag. He hadn't even spoken to them about it. and they agreed with me that it wouldnt hurt to check. If it turns out that it IS the prob I am going to go OFF. As something so simple could have had treatment started and she could have been on the road to recovery. DH and I been playing tag at hospital all day. Him, Me, Both. I stayed last night he's staying tonight. Our other kids still need to know I'm around. lol. Anyhow, I was only coming on to say that I will prob be off 4 a couple days. Will read posts but no time to post myself. Probably be Mondays weigh in. Have a great week all. I'm off to try get some shut eye. Vonni |
7senuf *hugs* It sucks and good on your 12 year old for keeping such a cool head! I think s/he (sorry not sure which!) deserves an extra special treat this week!
I'm still struggling with the food. I'm working tomorrow and one of the girls has promised to help me with the chip machine. Its my killer! Other than that did 40 min cardio and pilates. I can see the improvement with pilates though! When I started I couldn't do the quad stretch lying down (needed the stretchy thingy for both legs) Now I only need it for one! I hadn't realised I'd been doing some things wrong, but my instructor is fantastic. She corrects me on only one thing a week which really seems to help. |
Renny Sue - I am a pilates lover too - and you do see results - each week I notice I am reaching further and further - I feel sooooo good after the class.
Vonni- How scary? I hope your little one is okay - good thinking by your 12yo Lindor - I will try to do my part in losing weight for the group As for me - well the cold wet weather made it difficult for me to feel like working out after work tonight but I pulled out a WATP video and did it and glad that I did - I think I will also do a pilates DVD also before bed. Tomorrow my gym is open and I have lined up my mum to look after Liam, and I think I will try and get an aqua class in. Enjoy the public holiday tomorrow, catch up with you all later... |
Lucky you with the gym being open. My gym isn't, which is strange as normally they're open a couple of hours (barring Xmas and Good Friday for obvious reasons, and NYD because seriously, who's that sick?) I'm working, but I might chuck on a video.
|
Hey Vonni - I'm thinking of you, and I hope everything is OK with your baby
I'm reasonably happy with yesterday. I walked for an hour and then did a couple of hours vacuuming/mopping, and I ate pretty well. Only drank one litre of water, so I'll need to improve on that today. It's going to be a cool, rainy day in Perth (yay if we actually GET some rain) so I'm planning to walk, clean, watch footy and do my weights today. Lindor how's your back matey? :) Ani |
Morning all - being wet and cloudy plus Liam had trouble sleeping last night - I missed the only aqua class this morning - I rang mum up and asked her if its okay if she looks after Liam this afternoon - so I am going to slog it out on the dreadmill, bike and arc trainer for an hour - not my favourite but I know I do burn more calories this way.
|
Vonni hows the bubba? I have loads of sympathy for you, my ds spent quite a few nights in hospital during his first two years. Its scary not being able to help them.
Well I'm pleased, and suprised to say the least, to report a loss this week. My current weight this morning is 93.4, a loss of 700g. Not huge but a loss none the less!! |
Morning!
I have woken up this morning relatively pain free...drugs are good  Diet: Tuesday was a shocker!!! I owe my reward kitty now! Yesterday, no exercise, two mouthfuls of water and nowhere near enough food! Today, going to work on getting it right! Barb! Congrats on the loss...and at your weight, 700g is great! And I'll make the change to the group ticker shortly :) Vonni, how's bub doing? What a scary experience and what a brave 12yr old you have! The rest of you...you all sound like you are getting back into it? Keep it up! Have a good one all! :) |
Another decent day for me yesterday. On Monday I made this HUGE pot of vegetable soup, and basically just threw everything in a pot with split peas and let it simmer for a few hours. Zero fat, loads of good nutrients… and I've been eating it for dinner all week. I know a lot of people would find it boring to eat the same thing for dinner for a week - but these are the joys of being single and HATING cooking :)
Walked again yesterday and did all my exercises. Just didn't get through enough water again. At the moment it's 7ºC here - and I don't know about you but I find it hard to get excited about water when the outside temperature is about the same as the inside of my fridge! Today's goals remain the same - walk, eat, hydrate. Who's watching the finale of The Biggest Loser tonight? :) Ani |
I already know who's won, so I'm not going to bother until I get to the gym.
I've found this year REALLY bad on the food side of things. Apparently Damien was seen eating THREE meat pies at once in Sydney yesterday (after the shooting) It also mentioned Chris having a Big Mac and Greg having an ice cream. I'm more inclined to giving Chris and Greg some slack (you have to treat yourself occasionly) but THREE MEAT PIES? Pure gluttony and sadly, seems to me he'll put it straight back on. |
RennySue I've heard the "who has won" rumours too. Those stories about the contestants eating junk food are pure crap. The news reports say Chris was seen pigging out on Monday - not possible. He spent 14 hours filming the finale on the other side of Sydney.
I work in the media and I promise you that a lot of the tabloid stuff you see in print is nothing more than assumptions and second-hand stories. :) |
Hi girls
I've been bustling around, as usual. Lurking alot, but there doesn't seem like there's alot to say at the moment, seeing as I've completely abandoned my efforts. 2 potato chip sandwiches for brekkie, chicken tikka and chocolate fondue for lunch, 3/4 packet pringles, 3 spring rolls and fried rice for dinner. (all with coke). I'm not sure where it started going -this far- wrong. It didn't even seem that bad until I've read it back. I might have to take myself off the group effort - it doesn't seem fair to be counting dead weight. I must get going again, I've just lost motivation somehow. But well done girls for keeping it up. You're all stronger than me! Kylie |
You are NOT dead weight! We all have fall downs, the most important thing is to get back up again. You CAN do this and we're all here when you need help.
|
Kylie - we are here to support you and tell you to get back up and think about what your intentions were in the first place to get you thinking about losing weight - you can DO IT!!!!!!
Well I made the gym yesterday afternoon- worked out on the dreadmill, bike and arc trainer and tried to make the pilates class this afternoon missed the start by 8 minutes so off to the dreadmill I went... I hate working out on the gym floor but I know it does my body good LOL As for what I have been putting in my mouth - (I am hanging my head down in shame) 4:30pm is a hard time of the day for me and when I finished work I grabbed a bite to eat and then ate dinner - tomorrow I am gonna pack 2extra pieces of fruit just in case I feel like a pick me up at 4:30pm again... As for the biggest loser - yes I watched it -I think Damien, Michael, Munnalita weight losses were inspirational!! Never felt a connection to Chris or Marty- Its a shame Pami wasnt the first female biggest loser. |
Kylie  ! Are you surprised that things are tough for you? Have you managed to find time/space to talk to someone yet? You're worth so much more than this - please don't give up on yourself.
Lindor - where the bloody **** are you? I know you're posting, but you don't sound at all like your inspirational self at the moment. Is it just your back? I wanted Pati to win TBL - thought some of the weight loss was really awesome. It's been another good day for me - although I have badly sprained my right wrist, and I'm not sure how :dizzy: … at least I hope it's only sprained. Anyway, must go to bed. Hope everyone has had an OK day. :) Ani |
Hi all. Update on bubba girl - We finally have her home! Dr still none the wiser what was wrong. She will be having an EEG to rule out any "short circuits" as there is a history of epilepsy in immediate family. Just to be cautious!
We have to make sure she doesn't get over stimulated for a bit - which is hard with so many kids and even she is pretty full on. Hasn't got her appetite back fully yet, so that is a bit of concern that she doesn't lose weight. She has always been a very good eater and is a healthy chubby bubby (not huge, just plump) so hopefully can get back on track asap. As for me and weight loss efforts. I lost a kilo in 2 days due to stress but it's back again:dizzy: But at the moment it's the least of my worries. Until things get back on track my goal for the next couple of weeks is to just maintain. If I get a loss I will count it as a bonus. Kylie I echo Ani. Is it any wonder? Please go get that help! OK Who WON BIGGEST LOSER????? I worked last night and DH recorded Big Brother and half hour of TBL I was spewing when it cut off. Have no idea why he stopped it. Though I didn't ask him to record that, only BB so I guess the half hour was a bonus. Have to go now and do some shopping. Have got hardly anything in cupboards and tried doing it y/day only to have missy moo throw tantrums every time I stopped more than a second to look. Just had to get outta there. Take care all Vonni |
I'm here Ani! And it is good to see you managing to get back on track again! Look after that wrist too!
The back is almost as good as new. Sorry if I haven't been sounding 'inspirational', it's kinda hard when I am not achieving much positively with this weight loss thing. The evenings are still where I come undone! I can have a good day right up to about 7pm and then I lose it! Maybe I should consider going to bed a 4:30pm, after work, and end my day there? Kylie? What sort of 'team' would we be if we dropped you just because you were having a tough time? We are here to carry each other through! Hang in there mate, do this because it is something you want to do for yourself!! You are on this team and we are not about to drop you because of a few bad weeks...if we did that with everyone we wouldn't have much of a team! Vanessa, you sound like you are doing well! With any luck your motivation will rub off onto us? ;) Again I feel left out because I must live in the only region of the country that does not show 'The Biggest Loser' :( Will just have to make do with Big Bother (what they show of it here anyway!). It is one of those shows I hate, but can't not watch if it is on  Alright, I am off to work! Have a good day all! :) |
Chris won the BL, and showed my biggest issue with the show, is that he dropped to a weight that made him look sick and unhealthy.
|
I think most people share the view that Chris looked gaunt and unhealthy and lost too much too soon! I think it's always a danger when your goal becomes the numbers on the scale, rather than the healthy life you're starting to live… and I wasn't that thrilled to see him win.
Lindor I didn't know you watched Big Brother. I watched the launch night, and then again on Monday night - but I studiously avoid the daily shows. Who is your favourite and who do you hate? Late afternoon and evening snacking seems to be a common problem doesn't it. I'm worse if I don't eat enough for breakfast and lunch… but I usually have an after-dinner snack, so I don't know what the answers are. I've been pretty good again today - been for my walk, and am making myself drink plenty of water. :) Ani |
Hello people, just a quick check in.
Lindor, I will join you with the munchies at nite, seems we have a lot in common. Mine always kicks in about 6.30. Kylie, hang in there, the motivation will come back and you will be away on program again. Mumtoliam, it is making me tried just reading about all your excerise. 7senuf, really good to hear baby is back home, they are such a worry, when they are sick, and can't tell you where its hurts. Well the sun is out, i am still in my PJ's. (it's 200pm),:o everyone has gone to do, whatever they are doing, and it's so quite, you could dam hear a snail fart.I am going back to bed with my book, for a Nana nap.ZZZZzzzzzzz Have a great day |
Mary - I wished all that exercise would reflect in the scales - I jump on everyday - yeah I know obsessive but I would like dramatic weightloss like on TBL LOL I know its not going to happen but if I lost 1kg a week I'd be happy but I am not, I'm lucky if I get 500g.
I finally got into calorieking.com.au this morning- I am on wireless broadband so I wonder if that stopped me from registering myself - after a series of back and forwards emails, I joined up, I like the site so far, I like that it has an online food and exercise diary with all calories added in. This weekend I dont have my son - my ex picked him this morning, so this afternoon I am going to the gym and unfortunately I have plans to go out with the girls to dinner and a movie, just hope I can use the will power! I overeat a lot when socialising- just dont know when to stop dipping - love savoury foods LOL Tomorrow I will enjoy the sleep in but with the wet and overcast weather I hope I can be motivated to do something active tomorrow rather than stay snug in the blankets all morning and read LOL Hope you all have a good weekend and I will check in again tomorrow arvo. As for BB-cant wait for Sunday's episode where they reveal the couple and Billy... |
WOOHOOOO! I lost 1.3kg this week! (after having last week off!) I'm now at 5.95kg lost! Go me! Quite happy, as I wasn't as strict as I could have been. V. excited.
Facial here I come! |
Renny Sue - What plan are you following to help you lose the kgs?
|
I'm doing SureSlim. Its the one program I've used that I've lost a decent ammount of weight on. (I started two years ago and lost about 15kg before falling off) Weight Watchers dosen't work for me, and I don't agree with Jenny Craig, Lite & Easy and so on.
I do have PCOS so I need a medical approach, not a 'one size fits all' a la Weight Watchers. I think its great for most people, just not for me. SureSlim have a maitenance (ugh!) program, which is the most important thing for me. I only eat every five hours and am quite controlled on what I can and can't eat (low carb, no meat or shellfish ATM cause I have high uric acid) but they reintoruce foods back into your diet through the maintenece period (which is two months) to help you maintain. |
Renny Sue - you go girl! That's great news about your weight loss.
Vanessa I think 1kg/week is a lot to ask yourself to do. That's over 2lb, and most dieticians etc recommend that you lose 1-2lb a week over a longer period of time. I've read in lots of places that it increases your chance of success. I've been doing my weight loss for 38 weeks now and average 1lb/week (or 0.45kg). It may not seem like much compared with other people, but it adds up. And the most important thing for me is that I am doing things that I know I will still be able to do on a daily basis in ten years from now. For the last four weeks I have been at a standstill with my weight loss - but at least I am still here, and haven't gained very much weight. I feel like I am back on track this last week - and am going to be really disappointed if I don't drop at LEAST 0.5kg at tomorrow's weigh-in. Taking it slowly also gives me the chance to reflect on the big issues about emotional eating and self-worth. I don't think that's a lesson we can absorb in a short period of time… but in the last 9 months I have changed so many things about my lifestyle (some big ones, some barely noticeable) - and I'm a lot more confident now that I am going to make it to my goal weight. Anyway, I didn't plan to come in here this morning to waffle - it just dribbled out :) Today I am going to: • Walk for an hour; • Drink at least 2 bottles of water; • Eat no more than 1700 calories; • and do my upper body weights. Aside from that I'm going to potter around, watch the Fremantle Dockers play footy - and watch Big Brother to see how many people have picked the relationship secret. Lindor what are you up to? :) Ani |
Ani-I apreciated what you said I thought you are supposed to lose 1kg a week, I feel better knowing thatI should be aiming for the 1/2kg. And I know slow and steady sees better lasting results. I think what makes it frustrating is that you make the lifestyle change in your life and I want to see instanteous results - shows like TBL make that dream seem possible- but I dont have a personal trainer and I am not working out over 3 hours a day like they were.
Renny Sue- My friend did Sureslim too, and lost a lot of week, she looked really good, she also has PCOS... unfortunately I dont have any extra money at the moment-I have car registration and insurance to pay this week plus my house contents and buildings insurance is due in the next month... as well as paying for the usual child care, petrol, and standard bills, I am concentrating on paying for good food choices at the supermarket. I would like to be on a strict plan outlined especially for my body type and issues, at this stage calorieking.com.au is my source of guidance. I was wondering does any one here take any vitamin supplements - this has been one of my thoughts since lasts sunday in the paper - it indicated which vitamins you should take if... and on today tonight they listed some vitamins to assist when losing weight - I wasnt paying too much attention but remember Fish Oil, and Green tea were some. |
Vanessa I understand the frustration of feeling like it takes forever… and one of the things I do to keep myself motivated is to treat the scales as just one of several tools to track my progress.
I also measure myself every three weeks - from neck to ankle, because it's amazing where weight comes off. Shows like The Biggest Loser are completely unrealistic. They train for up to six hours a day, and are under constant supervision - so they are fully accountable. They are also trying to do "extreme" weight loss - and most people who go on that show have put weight back on. I actually think it's more useful to set small goals every month. If you beat them you feel great, and it's a lot better than setting high goals and constantly feeling like you have failed. For example - my goals for May are to lose 2kg and 1.5cm from my waist. As for vitamins and supplements, be careful. A lot of them are a waste of money - there has been some research to suggest that Fish Oil will help with losing "tummy fat", but it's preliminary. I take Calcium, Magnesium and sometimes add a multivitamin - but I try and get as much from my food as possible. But there are lots of different opinions about taking supplements. :) Ani |
I take magnesium (for blood pressure control), iron tablets (iron deficiency no matter HOW MUCH meat or green leafy veg I eat), and occassionally have a multivitamin at night if I feel a bit blerk!! I usually wake up in the morning feeling better.
Speaking of blerk.... I've had a crap few days. Eating nothing but garbage and moping around. Don't know why. Even work seemed to much to cope with this week. Sorry to say I am not holding out much hope for tomorrows weigh in. I've not cooked very well this week and I've drank only about 2 cups of water a day, have eaten a 100gm packet of chips, creamy pasta and bacon (twice), a block of chocolate (over 3 days) and 2 glasses of coke. I am of the type that CAN'T indulge even a little or it turns around and bites me on the bum. Ani I've tried the measuring thing, but can't seem to do it right. I've followed every manual there is but still my measurements don't seem to be in line with my losses. I mean, I've lost about 10kg, yet my boobs still fall out of my bras. Will catch all tomorrow VONNI |
While sitting here reading everyones posts and typing mine, I've just polished off an Eldorado.
BLERK!!!!!! |
What's an eldorado?
Glad to hear your bub is better Vonni! I've had a busy week - went to the podiatrist regarding my foot, and sure enough I have acute achilles tendonitis. Got taped up and have to get an orthotic - about $450!! Apparently I have a massively severe overpronation problem. Bugger. The good news is with the orthotic fitted the doc thinks I'll have much more comfort just in walking as well as running etc. Apart from that, my first niece, and my brother's first child, Grace Kathryn was born on Anzac Day (fitting - my bro's in the military!). She looks gorgeous, and I can't wait to get to Melbourne to see her. Mum offered to buy me flights down, but I've got uni paper and my US nursing exam in the next 2 weeks, so I'll have to go after that. Phew. What else? Been cycling a bit, getting used to cars trying to run me over, and been swimming again. Also tried aqua aerobics - wasn't a huge fan. $10 and only 350 calories burnt!! |
