day 8 -----> 1147 calories 30 min on the gazelle
|
A(1) Water Challenge- Day 4
B(2) SB1 Challenge- Day 4 C(3) The Firm Challenge- Day 4 Sorry I'm in lurker mode, I've got a meeting tonight, and auditions for "The King and I" tomorrow night. It's my first week back at work after break and I'm a little short on time. |
Curly, you inspire me! I did 30 minutes on zelle tonight too. She groaned and creaked, complaining about such hard work after weeks of neglect. So I pulled out the old WD-40, and she has a lot less to say now. I, however, am still as creaky as ever.
So I'm okay for all 3 challenges: Day 5 on water, Day 4 on exercise, and Day 4 on the wine/choc ban. :) :carrot: Red, I hate to rain on your parade, but I heard a vicious rumour that there are actually calories in beer.... maybe not in Japanese beer? What ARE we going to do with you! Was the ground too frozen to ride? Fish, there'll be time enough to get back in the challenge saddle after your cruise. You may find some more of the Xmas bloat will go away too. Marble, the diet doc is a local family doctor who got interested in weight loss, and wanted (I think) less stressful work. he offers a food exchange type diet, lo-carb and highish protein, lots of veggies, and very sensible. He's an amateur athlete himself, but has been known to put on weight when he slacks off. It's mainly weekly weigh-ins and a brief chat with a counsellor (or the doc from time to time). But there's no requirement to weigh in weekly, no penalties for missed weeks, and the very low fee can be "spent" on things like whey protein shakes. I don't know why it's working for me - there's nothing magic in it. Next time I'm in the US I'll look for a Vic's Secret and look at a tanga or two - by then I may be looking at a smaller size, with less squishy stuff in front. Stage, good luck with the audition! Apple, you said all the "good" beer was gone. Has Red been visiting you? :D And greetings to those I've omitted. |
yeah dang zelle... i just had to pay another 30 minutes so i could watch the biggest loser!!
i have to go see the endocrinologist on the 27th.. will be the first time back to see him since i started this journey.. the times i went back for bloodwork.. i just saw the nurse.. |
Now that the holidays are over and I have a spare moment. *sigh* its been a rough bit for me.
Anyhoo. Starting over yet again. Ugh, I'm so mad at myself. First 21 day challenge. No soda for 21 days. Lets see if I make it through tomorrow. |
Water Challenge day 4 complete! :dancer:
Keep on Truckin! Erin :carrot: |
A(3) - DAY 4 (Jan. 4) all 3 are done, I seem to pee more than ever before..weird...
B(3) food - Day 3 (Jan. 4) this was hard I had to work till 8:30 almost....mad, but that guy from work suggestes something about postions opened in their company...him and his boss offered to take me to lunch....hmm I will think, I am worried he will show up w/o the boss....though it would be nice to finally meet him in person. C(3) excersize - Day 3 (Jan. 3) Did T. excersices at home, she stopped by and directed me.... |
Both challenges clear for today! Hurrah! Too much going on to post. Just rack up another point for me... :)
|
Do you have room for another challenged challenger?
My first challenge is to go 21 days without buying unhealthy snacks for work. I am going to stock low fat granola bars, and single serving packages of craisens. I will not stock anything, even low fat baked chips, that don't come in single servings, as it is too hard to stop at a portion. I really need to break my overeating up into smaller issues, and tackle them one at a time. I have been doing well with working out, so don't feel that needs to be a challenge at this point (though, if I don't get my butt off the computer and to the gym . . . ), and have even been doing the hated weights! But self medicating my stress disorder with food still continues to be an issue. I recently received a promotion, and though I am calmer about it than I imagined, I am still munching a lot to get through the day . . . Anyway, after being so long winded, I hope you don't mind me just jumping in  |
Day 3 is done with water and portions. The desire to eat without reason is rearing it's ugly head again. I guess I will just have to hunker down and wait for this to pass. Another reason to keep a boring refrigerator.
I know why they reckon you lose weight when you drink lots of water - it's not the water itself at all, it's the exercise you get running for the loo every flaming five minutes of the day and night. |
lol thats what i thought also shad..but after a while your body adjusts to the extra water and the trips to the potty slow down...
|
Hi all;
I am new to this site and would love to start a challenge. I will start with 2 challenges today. First: drink 2 liters of water a day, level 1. Second: do crunches every day, level 2. I have been skimming this thread for a few days and figured I would jump on and make myself "accountable" to what seems to me like a great bunch of interesting and uplifting people. Thanks for being here and wish me luck! http://www.3fatchicks.com/weight-tra...8/130/155/.png |
Red, if I'm not mistaken, we're about 2 days away from a new thread??!!!! I agree that the caffeine one gets easy fairly quickly, although the weaning period can be pretty bad. Kudos on sticking with the crunches in spite of being so busy! And about that busy-ness: are you getting rich working lots, socializing with some hot young colleague, or getting in a ton of dressage time? Do find a moment to fill us in. My life is pretty boring these days - my cats and I live vicariously thru Marble and you... :s:
|
Carla, you don't want my life, believe me! All I do is work or worry lately.
And HOW do you survive without Victoria's Secret stores? there must be a canadian version? (look at the tangas online, it is a flattering v-cut front & back lace panty-short-thing, worth the $30. a pair---this is the 50% off sale time). Day #2 10 mins. of interval training. I am excited that I can actually lift a 5 lb. wt. over my head! My ortho is visiting down the floor, so i went to show him what a *star-pupil* I am. But I have this weird-looking indentation where the fracture was? hope it goes away in time.... Another exciting item....I have been trying on clothes that were previously un-wearable...now it's not such a joke! |
Morning all. Yes, the new thread will be coming up soon as I plan on finishing this double challenge on Sunday I believe. It has actually NOT been easy, though it has been doable, and I try to make light of things. The lows without the caffeine are pretty hard to get through if I plan on doing anything more than sitting around or walking, but I try to get the harder exercise in in the morning, that's why it's been possible. I used to train after work and when I went off caffeine then it was horrible. I would just slog in and not be able to do anything. It took about a year before my body started learning how to make its own energy. This is what's horrible about overdosing on caffeine. It beats the adrenal glands to a pulp and they become exhausted. It takes a long, long time before you recover.
Well, carla, things are tough and I don't like to talk about them when they are, thus the quiet. When the going is really rough, I only want to put my head down and trudge on. That's all I can do. Suffice it to say, that I am neither making even enough money to cover expenses (though I work), having any fun with young men (though I drink with them and older ones) or getting in GOOD dressage time (though I have been on and OFF ;) the horse a lot). I am telling you this so you stop living vicariously and get out there yourself! Right now, I am about to just say, forget it! to getting out into the cold and to the gym before work...we will see. Just let you know that I have taken on yet another burden in the shape of a white cat, who, now thanks to the neglect of ignorant hicks, is minus an eye. I am trying to care for her so she doesn't lose more. I brought her back to Tokyo yesterday and she is at the vet. The one eye is totally infected and the eye is beyond saving. I really don't want to go into it here. I have to help when I see things like this...it makes me so angry. Well, no time anymore. jolly, :welcome: it's good to see you! Popping in and posting is what everyone does. That's how we start. A lot of people just pop in and we never hear from them anymore but we have our regulars. I know you're a real trooper so I expect to see you around. Good luck! You've got a great challenge and with that planning you're doing, you will get through your first round in no time! And welcome to Zoe too! :welcome2: and Good luck! CBETA, chai, curly, Shad, marble, Silly, stage, Sushi, Apple, Fish, anyone else, sorry for the lack of personalized attention from me, but I've just been a bit overwhelmed with it all. Hang in there with your challenges and good luck! |
RB, YOU hang in there too! things are bound to get better.
For the record, I find you to be a VERY motivating and caring lady. You are a bit famous at my house, I have a revolving message ball (think times square sign in mini....) and Red Balloon Challenge is a standard at my house. |
Marble! Shouldn't you be working instead of messing about on the computer with us?
|
Red, that is one lucky cat! I second Marble's comments, and am very jealous of her Times Square sign.
|
Marble, carla, thanks! You are the sweetest!

Red, so sorry to hear that things are not so good on your side of the world. Wish there was something I could do to help.
Poor little pusscat. The things the so called civilised world does to it's helpless creatures and yes :cp: :bravo: to you for helping her - no doubt at expense to yourself which equally no doubt you can not afford. Hope things get better for you and soon. And huge :bravo: for carrying on with the thread and the challenges when so much is happening in your world. Makes my problems look small (weeds, humidity, typin around a tortoiseshell cat!) |
CBETA- Here you don't have to have any special creditentials to do community theater, you just have to go and audition. The kids and I were talking tonight about how they have done community theater for half of their lifetimes. :dizzy:
Tonight is adult auditions for "The King and I" I'm only auditioning for chorus, so I should be out of there fairly early. |
Hey Red things will get better  its got to be a good week i lost 2 lbs! Im glad the kitty found u........
day 9----> 1036 calories exercise---> walk 2 miles, 30 min zelle, 45 min circuit training, 120 oz water |
Day 1 in the bag....Talk more later...
|
hi! this is my first day here and my first post. i love a challenge! i'm trying to lose 30 pounds to get back to my goal weight of 130. i kept the weight off for almost five years but it's managed to creep back up on me, and i decided before things went to far i had to get serious. so i started my program january 1st and the most important thing for me is to not snack after i get off work (i get home at 1am) so my challenge is:
-NO EATING AFTER WORK (or 10pm on my days off) and i consider this a fairly tough challenge but hopefully i won't need any pause days. i might though :P i am already on day 4 as i started January 1st. Nice to meet you all and hope to spend more time posting. DAY 4 - No eating after dinner |
Hang in there Red. You are a motivation.
Well, I did not buy any junk food at or for work today. Yeah. But can anyone think of a "salty" healthy snack that comes in single serving sizes? I have sweet covered, but not salty. I loved the comment on how we lose weight with water. Too true. I can drink the same amount of soda, and pee once, but water . . . .Burn calories burn. Well, I am up too late. Got back from the barn late, because I left work late. Just wanted to check in before bed. ttfn |
Day 5 of water challenge is in the bag for me, and I actually got off of my bupkis and went for a walk tonight.
Red: hang in there! I haven't been around for long, but I've been here long enough to know that you're one of the first in line to cheer someone else on when they're down or having a rough time, and sometimes you need to have that back from others, so this is for you... :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: GO RED GO!!! GO RED GO!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: That kitty is very very lucky to have found a kind person like you. Hang in there and know that all of us here are rooting for you both in your weightloss/fitness journey and in your life in general. Take care and have faith that there is light at the end of that nasty tunnel!!!!! Keep on Truckin! Erin :carrot: |
RED common you can DO IT....Last push and may be by the time I write this you will be done with your challenge...
Also I'd like to chear for everyone who stayed on the plan this week. It's tough to return after holidays. Lost of stress at work as many things are due at once. Lost of stress at home as it is time to get back into the swing of things again. Lost goodies are still around as leftovers.... and it is a challenge to pass them up. So congrats to all of you who tried sticking to your guns. As for me on I go A(3) - Day 5 (Jan. 5) Done B(3) food - Day 4 (Jan. 5) I went again to work out right after work and when I got home I decided that I am not hungry enough. After phone and shower, I realized I am a bit hungry, but decided to obstain. C(3) excersice - Day 5 (Jan. 5) I am getting used to things. I elipticated as usual for 30 minutes on a weight loss cycle and noticed that my heart rate dropped significantly. It is now usually stays at the "weight loss" indicated rather then "cardio" which is good. Also as I did my press work, it was easier to do... So here are some other thoughts: normally I watch what I eat during the day. Carefully avoiding obvious bad choices. well today I had a chicken grill sandwich for lunch and yes with fries, so I am glad i did not eat dinner, but even then I still think I am in my target of 1800 calories. Days prior to today my choices mostly were salad and soup or burito with less of stuff. Dinners are always lean as I cook them myself, and breakfast is always the same. So with that said, over last 3 days I gained rather than lost. May be it's "that time of the month", or I am building muscell as it become easier to exercise ( T.'s suggestions helped, in just 3-4 sessions I got better endurance) and therefore no weight loss, but rather gain. I am confused and if nothing lost tomorrow i will have to move the ticker back up...I so don't want to do this. On a happier note: I think I told you about the flowers that were delivered for my b-day. That guy called today after he was away for the holidays. In his message he said that he is sad that he missed me, and that i am probably running at the gym. He was right on the money. I tried running the first time today!!! Treadmill for 15min and every 4 min I'd run for a minute. Also I had to throw away other flowers but his are still standing and yesterday before he even called I decied that I will buy myself flowers once I am under 260, so that I have some fresh ones to remind me that I deserve that even if there is noone who can send them to me...(secretly I wish he would send, I am even ready to give him money...but the fact is so sweet) I am hopeless romantic, I know. Sorry to take up that much of your time....Off to sleep - another day at work. |
Hiya,
Had an awsome day with food today. It certainly pays to plan ahead and ensure that you only have the planned stuff ready to eat. So.... Challenge 1 portion control day 4 is done. Challenge 3 for water day 4 is done. I made an awesome Chicken Laksa for lunch today. Found the recipe in my new low fat cookbook. It has only 8g of fat and 223 calories. Full of flavour and certainly big on herbs and veges. Loved it. I have enough for another couple of days and then have wraps for the rest of the week. My dinners I have planned from the same book and are Marinated lamb salad and Tandoori chicken salad. Gotta go. Another storm cell heading our way. Thunder is heavy and the lightning is bad. |
Good Luck Zoe06! Sounds like you're off to a running start!
|
Friday is OK on the challenges...
|
SMACK>>>>>that Carla is soooo fresh!
OK it's Day #3>>>>>>>time for that silly carrot :carrot: :carrot: :carrot: 12 minutes of interval training today (and the added bonus of noticeably less flesh in a slim sweater!:cloud9:) it's the little things....... RB, and the kitty's name is? |
YES YES YES..
I weight myself this morning.... and my weight dropped... to 258!!! yes! on another note: they turned off the water in my house, I had to use water bottles to finish my morning shower...but I am working from home now...yey me. catch you later. |
CB's slippin' into slim!!!
CBETA, looks like it's flowers for you!! Congratulations!!!! :cp: :encore: :cp: Excellent going!!!
And, everyone, thank you SO much for all your kind words and encouragement. I will be writing more later I hope. The cat is doing ok, apparently, still at the vet's. I have to get in to work now. Later all! |

[QUOTE=stagemomx3] about theater[\QUOTE]
I did go and look and so far found only one for kids under 18. How can I locate something for someone under 30? Let me know if you have any ideas.... |
Hi everyone. Congrats on the loss Cbeta. That has to feel incredible. Red, can't wait to hear how your newest family member is.
I guess I need a pat on the back right now. One thing I deal with is "attitude." Bad, to be more specific. I tend to feel like I have to be perfect, and if everything doesn't go right, it is all my fault. I then get impatient with those around me if it seems they are getting in the way. This almost derailed my efforts to get promoted, as I can seem mean, cold, unreachable, whatever. Well, I thought I was doing pretty well at the new position. Being fairly relaxed, for me anyway. But a situation came up today. Not good. Left me feeling really, really bad. But, the good news - I did not turn to food. I had to do my grocery shopping after all of this. And what is right at the front of the store as you come in? Valentine's candy. Lots and lots of Valentine's candy. Chocolate Valentine's candy. And I passed it all up. Managed to get through the store without adding any junk food or other extras. Except for a bouquet of daisies I bought to cheer myself up. It's a start. Have a great evening everyone. Thanks for listening. |
