:dancer: I'm in ONE-der-land!

I weighed in this morning with a 1lb. loss which puts me in onederland. I'm very happy with loosing only 1lb this week because this is the first week after 10 days on South Beach phase 1, so it's the first week with any carbs or fruit in awhile. Now I must go fill up my water glass!

OBsMama 12-01-2005 11:34 AM

We are having a great day all the way around!!!:Bravo: Michelle, welcome to Onederland!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the new intro.

http://www.nbc.com/The_Biggest_Loser...92.shtml#photo

Have you gals seen this? They are before and after pictures of regular people submitted to the Biggest Loser site. Very inspirational.

I had leftover massaman curry for lunch and it was all I could do not to drink the leftover coconut milk. Yummy, I love Thai food. I wish they gave you the option of Brown rice. The rice they gave me is around 4 servings!!!!!!

NordicTrack, abs, and arms tonight:tread: :workout: plus walking to daycare to pick up the baby.

I can't wait to see our ticker drop even more.

Hi. Thanks for the invite to join you guys Amanda (OBsMamma). I am a 30 something with 30 something to lose, but I'm not a Mum - is that ok?:?:

Louise

OBsMama 12-01-2005 12:33 PM

Our only prerequisite was a 30 something needing to lose 30 something +. It just happened that alot of us are moms.

Why don't you tell us a little about yourself and your battle with weight. I would love to know how you ended up in Spain.

I came here because I have reverse anorexia. I have had it for years. I really believed that I was skinnier than I was. I started gaining in college and just forgot to care that I was going from a 10 to 12, 12 to 14, 14 to 16 and 16 to 18!!!!! I can't blame any of my weight on my son. I was pre-pg weight by my 6 week appointment. I recently saw a picture of myself at a girlfriends wedding and had a light bulb moment. I have been seriously trying since Nov 1. I have lost 6 pounds so far (tomorrow is weigh in) :goodscale:

I have been posting several times a day in an effort to keep my weight loss, excersize, lifestyle change in the front of my mind.

:welcome2: Louise! No you do not have to be a mom, I'll go change that in the intro post in a little bit. I just have to sign in under the lose30 name to be able to edit that post. Glad you joined us!

Amanda how is it going this afternoon. It's actually only 9:45am here, but I figured since you already had lunch it must be afternoon for you. :D

I've completed one workout for the day. :strong: I'm going a little slow on water though. I'd better start chugging!

OBsMama 12-01-2005 01:04 PM

It is hitting 1:00 here and I have 1 more hour of work. 3:00-4:00 is my witching hour where food is concerned. I am going to walk to pick the baby up from daycare today and maybe if he is agreeable walk to the market for dinner fixings. Keep myself busy during that time. Once it passes I am o.k. but the pizza incident happened at 3:00 yesterday.........

I am actually looking forward to my work out tonight

Amanda

louloumel 12-01-2005 03:23 PM

Glad to be aboard then girls!

I ended up in Spain basically because we (my fiance Barry and I) wanted to try something different, we came to have a look around an area we'd never been to before and loved it, then through an amazing stroke of luck Barry got offered a job, which meant we then had no reason not to come. A year after we moved here, my parents and my youngest sister and her then fiance (now her husband) moved over too! All in all it's been great, we're getting pretty good with the language and we've just moved into a new home which we've been renovating for the last year with spanish builders!!! Not easy but well worth it. However it has meant that since April (when we sold our last home)till September we've been living with my parents, which was like visiting for 6 months in terms of the amount of food and drink we had - so the weight just piled on even more!

However now there can be no more excuses. I have my own kitchen and plenty of time to cook healthy meals. It's a little difficult to get low fat foods here but I'm going to try and look on the positive side of that as it means i have to use a lot more fresh produce and cook from scratch which ultimately tastes better too. I can't believe I've been fat for so long now. I was always one of those people who could eat any amount of food and never put weight on, but that changed when I hit 26 and met Barry. All of sudden we were going out for meals a lot or having cosy nights in with a pizza and a movie - you know how it goes. At first it was even a bit cute, after all putting on weight like that is a sign of contentment isn't it? But before you know it, as you said Amanda, you're a size 18!!

Anyway I've decided to go back on the WW diet as I have all the info and cookery books, plus I cannot eliminate specific foods - that makes me sooo miserable. The only thing I miss is the structure of the meetings and weigh ins which is why I thought it would be good idea to join in here. Let's see how I've been doing at weigh in tomorrow! 6lbs is good over a month Amanda, and you're exercising too which is something I really need to do. Well I'll go now and leave room for other people:blah: :blah: :blah:

Lou

stagemomx3 12-01-2005 06:01 PM

:carrot: I completed my second workout for the day. I've drank 66 ounces of water, and eaten about 1000 calories of "clean" food. According to my calculator I burned almost 2000 calories today, so I'm ok with eating a higher calorie total today. I still have dinner to get through you see!

Lou that is so neat that your family moved over to Spain too! DH and I have talked about living in another country since the company he works for has offices all over the world. I always come back to the fact that I would miss :( my family to much though.

Amanda it's 3pm here so your past your "witching" hour, how did it go?

OBsMama 12-01-2005 06:58 PM

Made it past with a yogurt and a few almonds:cheer:

However,I can feel my blood sugar plummeting. Husband was supposed to bring dinner home tonight on account that I have not had a car all afternoon. So when he called I asked him to pick up stuff for a salad. Great. Apparently, he thinks a salad just consists of lettuce and bread no other veggies, he was in friggin Whole Foods. So, when he gets home, off to the store I have to go probably around 8:00 which also means I probably will not eat until 9:00 until after I have breastfed the baby and put him to sleep. Ugg.

So, now I can just feel the tiredness and the hunger building up inside of me, that often leads to poor food choices. I know I could hit the store and say buy a candy bar in the checkout line or a box of Cheezits to munch on while walking through the store. The reason I did not bundle the baby up and walk to the store was because I thought I was getting a complete dinner and did not need to go. UGG. Just venting, I get very nasty when I am tired and hungry and disappointed.

:stress:
Amanda

stagemomx3 12-01-2005 07:30 PM

Amanda eat something, like 10 almonds, before you go to the store. Hungry and tired will only lead to poor food choices!

okie74 12-01-2005 08:13 PM

someone asked about my old support group , the lady that was running it deleted without an explaination , no email or anything , my old desktop dies on me so I had to be offline for about 2months when I got back on , nothing....so I've been snooping around some places...and here I am

stagemomx3 12-02-2005 02:16 AM

Amanda- How did you do at the store?

Okie- There loss, our gain!

Rehearsal went really late tonight, and then I had to deal with driving home in the snow, so it took over an hour to get home instead of 30 minutes. Ugh stressful! Luckily I didn't have any candy bars in the van or I would have eaten them. I'm fine now and looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow.

louloumel 12-02-2005 05:51 AM

Good Morning Girls!

I'm soooo happy - 5lbs loss this week!!!!! I'm celebrating and you are all probably sleeping right now - oh well. I was really nervous because I had been in Scotland for 2 weeks and I must have gone out to dinner about 6 times, what with meeting up with people ihadn't seen for a while. Also i was staying over at my Gran's house and because i told her i was watching what I was eating, she was obsessed with feeding me - nightmare! Anyway I got back to Spain a week ago and I have been trying hard to get back in the the rythym of things and it seems to have worked - yipee! Oh I can relax now. I can't believe how nervous I was before stepping on the scales in my own home - I guess having to come on here and let you guys know is having the effect I hoped it would!

How did it go with dinner Amanda? Is your hubby also trying to watch his weight? My fiance Barry is doing the diet with me, but he is totally uninvolved in the decisions, shopping etc, which is hard sometimes, so I know how you feel. Stick with it though!

What are you rehearsing for Stagemom ( is your name Michelle)- I'm intrigued? You're right I'm lucky that my family moved here too although there is one person missing. I have another sister who lives in the US, so she is very far away and I really miss her. Especially as she is the only one of us who has kids.

Hi Okie. I just joined here too. What programme are you following? I'm doing WW and I see that Stagemom, you're doing South Beach right? what is everybody else doing?

Lou

alsbttrfly 12-02-2005 08:25 AM

Hi Ladies!!! I would love to join your group, if that's ok. I'm almost 31, my birthday is Dec 13. I have 3 little ones, my daughter is 4, my oldest son is almost 3 and my youngest is almost 7 months. We just moved from Germany in August and I was pretty stressed. Things are calming down now and I'm finally feeling like I can get a handle on this whole weight thing. I started the week at 175 and its the first week in a long time that I have been OP. I've been sort of doing WW, but I'm still nursing, so I haven't been totally counting points, just keeping an eye on what I eat. I feel pretty good about my WI on Sunday. I've been going to the gym all week, if I go to today it will be the fourth time this week. I finally feel motivated again to get these 30lbs off. I guess I've been rambling, hope to get to know you all.

OBsMama 12-02-2005 08:59 AM

Happy Dance!!!!!!

:welcome: Lori

I survived the trip to the grocery store. I did eat a few almonds before I left the house so I think that got me through. I felt like I was going through the gauntlet.

But it has payed off......:goodscale:185.5!!!!!!2.5 pound loss

I haven't been doing a prescibed diet just using my common sense. I figure I have to keep this up the rest of my life so......Also, I think part of my success is all my excersize. At least 20 minutes of something everyday.

My husband is not on the lifestyle change with me although he is not the type to have me make a second dinner. I make the dinner pretty much as I would have in the past and then modify it for me. Smaller portion, no bread and extra veggies. I love to bake so I have still been baking and making him eat it all or giving alot of it away. He has a very physical job so he pretty much burns off everything he eats.

Debbie,Chelle where are you?

:cp: :cb: :cp: Lou:cp: :cb: :cp: -5 pounds that is terrific!

Lori- :welcome3: I have 3 children too, mine are also a girl, and then two boys. They are a little older though, Daisy just turned 10, Joey is 8.75, and Adam is 7.5.

:cp: :cb: :cp: Amanda :cp: :cb: :cp: -2.5 pounds wonderful!

I'm going to add the collective 7.5 pounds to our 30 something ticker, actually I can only do seven since it won't let me do the half, we'll have to bank the half for later.

The play we are doing is Beauty and the Beast, we are now down to 5 rehearsals before opening night. The kids and I have been doing community theater for 4 years, this is our 5th "season" and it is so much fun. I absolutely LOVE it.

I did South Beach phase 1 for 10 days before Thanksgiving to jump start my weight loss. After working out for months I was getting frustrated that the scale was not moving. It worked well, I lost 8 pounds, and it did take away a lot of my cravings for carbs and sweets. Now I am following WW/counting calories. I'm following what is called "The Wendie Plan" on the ww board, which is a way of flexing your daily calorie intake to keep your body guessing. Instead of eating the same amount of points/calories every day, your vary it, having one super high day followed by a low day, some medium days, ect.

Does everyone have a plan for the weekend? That seems to be a challening time eating wise for most of us.

louloumel 12-02-2005 10:17 AM

Welcome Lori:hug: . I'm new to this group too, and it's working well for me so far! I'm doing WW too so any tips or recipes you've got, I'd love to hear them - always looking for inspiration!

Thanks Michelle! Beauty and the Beast - wow! You'll need to post pictures of you all in your costumes. I'm going to have a look at hat wendie plan. It sounds like it might be useful when I hit the inevitable plateau.

Well done Amanda:D It sounds like it hasn't been an easy week for you so that's a great weight loss. It just goes to show, even if you feel you're doing badly - keep going! You never know how things will stack up at the end of the week.

My goal for this weekend is not to go over my points with alcohol - always a danger at the weekends! It's kind of rainy here today so maybe we will just stay in tonight which will help. Other than that I'm going to the supermarket later to get in the last of the ingredients for a fancy Thai meal I'm planning on making tonight mmmmm. Spicy foods speed up your metabolism and I love'em!

Lou

OBsMama 12-02-2005 11:54 AM

This week was my temptation/weak week. It totally fit my m.o. do really well for a round a month and then crash and burn on one delicious item and so starts the downward spiral but not this time except for the afternoon snack of mini-pizza. Very proud of myself.:cp:

Plan for the weekend: keep moving.....Extra walking. It will be cold here but sunny. Also putting up Christmas decorations and cleaning the house always burns a little off.

We have dinner party tonight but I am going to make some stew ahead of time and eat a little before we leave if we even go. Spencer and Oliver are feeling a little under the weather so we may not go. Not much else planned except a very little bit of Christmas shopping.

I do need to go grocery shopping, big time, this afternoon so I have all good healthy things on hand for the weekend.

Oh, try this out I know it says postpartum calculator but I guess even our non-moms ;) can use it.

Hi all.....just wanted to quickly let you know I've not dropped off the face of the earth. Been crazy....didn't even get a chance on the computer last night. Brian worked late, Bryce had swimming so that left everything up to me. Been still trying to keep the water intake going, although didn't get as much in yesterday as day before. Today I've gotten 96 oz in thus far. Couple more hours to go. Hope I don't do too bad tonight going to a neighbor's Tastefully Simple party?? Never been to one, but fact I'm at someone else's house I know I won't eat like a hog :sumo:

Weekend will be a challenge for me. Seems again I do ok at work but at home I lose control. Bryce has swim meet tomorrow afternoon and actually thinking about it, I've got a lot of stuff that needs done to get in gear for the holidays so maybe I won't do too bad. :crossed:

:welcome2: to everyone new

Gotta run.......

Hey Guys,

I am new to this group. I am not overweight but I hope I can still be a member ? I am ( almost ) a nutrition specialist. I will be done by the end
of the month and I can give tips and stuff if anyone is interested. I am a
stay-at-home mom to my 20 -months old son.

Take care guys and keep up the good work.
Susanne

stagemomx3 12-02-2005 05:26 PM

 Amanda that is funny!

:welcome: Susanne! Of course you can join us on our journey towards being fit and healthy. So what's your reccomendation for limiting calorie consumption, and the dreaded "hangover" when going out with friends to a bar? I mean besides avoiding alcohol. :D

stagemomx3 12-03-2005 04:29 AM

:carrot: Going out tonight was fun. I indulged some but not to much damage I don't think.

Wishing everyone a happy Saturday!:D

OBsMama 12-03-2005 07:41 AM

:welcome2:Susanne, we would love to have you and pick your brain. I am very interested on your thought on carb to protein ration, zig zaggin caloires and everything to do with nutrition. I think I basicaly eat right and am having success so far but I know when I plataeu, I will need to tweek my diet and excersize regime to lose more.

:cb:Plan for the day::cb:

Give away all the magic bars I made last night(Husband and baby are sick and we didn't get to go to my friends party)
Walking, already have planned my mommy only walking group for this morning at 8:30
A tiny bit of shopping
Christmas lights
NordicTrack and weights tonight

Have a great day,
Amanda

stagemomx3 12-03-2005 01:07 PM

:coffee2: Goodmorning! I had two glasses of wine, spinach ravioli, 2 pieces small pieces of garlic bread, and a small dish of ice cream last night. Yesterday was my planned high calorie day, so I'm not feeling to guilty about what I ate last night. Today will be a low calorie day, and I hope to throw in some extra cardio work. I am glad that weigh in is not until next Thursday though! :D

Today my son has a friend coming over to play, but no other plans. Tomorrow we have a family party to go to. I also must at some point go grocery shopping and do some house cleaning.

stagemomx3 12-03-2005 04:52 PM

Workout completed. 40 oz. of water so far today.

stagemomx3 12-04-2005 02:22 AM

Well I managed to get in 80 ounces of water for the day. I don't know why I struggled to drink my water today. I bought some Silk soymilk eggnog today to try. I love eggnog, but I haven't had any yet this year because it's so high in calories. I guess I'll find out tomorrow how the Silk compares to the real thing.

I hope everyone had a great Saturday!

OBsMama 12-04-2005 07:18 AM

:( Sick husband and teething baby made for a miserable Saturaday:(

I didn't get in rearly the water I had been in because I was holding the baby all day. Everytime I realized I wasn't getting enough in I chugged about 8 oz but I woke up this morning with a dry, sore throat.

:rain: Raining, cold and overcast here today but I think I am still going to try to get a 30 minute walk in with the dog plus do my Nordic Track, ab, arm combo tonight. I did 1 hour and 20 minute walk with my mommy walking group with 3 hills included.

Baby and husband are still asleep and I am wide awake. Can't get back to sleep. Actually, perfect time for that walk.

Michelle, don't beat yourself up about the drinks with all the cardio you are doing you should definately see a difference on Thurday. I am not a big drinker so giving it up totally, is fine by me. My calorie demons:devil: are elsewhere. Mexican food, I love it, salsa, cheese, yummy fatty!!!!! I know if I had some now off the wagon I would go.

8 oz of green tea this morning.:)

BBL,
Amanda

I think we need to come up with a challenge for the week?

OBsMama 12-04-2005 07:29 AM

Forgot to mention another pair of previously tight pants fits!!!!!!!!!!!:carrot:

OBsMama 12-04-2005 09:28 AM

stagemomx3 12-04-2005 12:30 PM

Whooo HOOO on your NSVs Amanda! :encore: Sorry about your sick DH and teething baby, that is definetly not fun! :(

We have a family Christmas party to go to today, and I plan for it not to play havoc  with my eating! I will stay on plan no matter what, I refuse to let my emotions get the better of me today :nono: and lead me to mindless eating of unhealthy fattening things! On the plus side I'm excited about wearing my new camisole top to the party because my arms are looking so nice and toned thanks to my workouts with The Firm! :strong:

I'm having my cup of coffee right now, :coffee: then I will switch to water for the day.

What kind of challenge do you want to have for this coming week an exercise or an eating one?

Have a fit and fun Sunday everyone!

okie74 12-04-2005 01:33 PM

BOTH !...seems my weeks are getting busier and I have a Christmas party to go to this week , I hate holidays because I'm so in love with sweets ......my mouth waters just thinking about it .........omg where is my water.....*GULP GULP GULP* *ahhhh*

what were we talking about :p

stagemomx3 12-04-2005 01:36 PM

Alright I will post an exercise and an eating challenge when I get back from the party today. Then everyone can choose either one or both of them to try for the week.

I really have to stop messing around on the computer and get in the shower NOW!

FLA Michigander 12-04-2005 02:42 PM

Thanks for the invite Stagemom, so what goes on in here?

losethirtysomething 12-04-2005 09:01 PM

Group Challenges 12/5-12/11

This weeks challenges:

:carrot: Food- Eat at least 3-5 servings of veggies every day.

:ebike: Exercise- Workout at least 3-5 times during the week.

stagemomx3 12-04-2005 09:16 PM

Well I survived the family party! It was as I expected, my aunts made a big deal about my weight loss, and my mom had obviously done some "mom bragging" about me working out "all the time." I tried to really make light of it and change the subject when it came up. Not that I'm not proud of myself for committing to working out and getting healthy and fit. It's just that in my mom's family thin is good and anything else is bad. So I hate being praised in front of my cousins who all struggle with their weight, and are very heavy. It just makes my aunts love feel so conditional. If any of this makes sense. I'm just glad the party is over and I don't have to see them for a few months!

alsbttrfly 12-04-2005 09:25 PM

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Somehow I managed to lose 8lbs this week. I know its mostly water weight because I just got back OP. Still, 8lbs seems like an awful lot!! I did hit the gym 4x this week but was also sneaking the leftover hershey kisses on the counter from the cookies I baked for my daughter's school. I also managed to get a case of diarrhea this weekend. Hope I'm not getting another stomach bug.

My goals for the week are to:

1. Hit the gym 3X
2. NO snacking after 8pm!!
3. Complete week 5 on the Couch to 5k program

Hopefully if I can reach my goals for the week I can attain my short term goal and get my 10lb loss reward!! I really need a new pair of running shoes.

Michelle- you'll have to let us know how that eggnog tastes!! I used to drink Silk when my son had a dairy allergy and I was breastfeeding. I couldn't drink it by the glass but could eat it with my cereal. Doing theater with your kids must be so much fun!! When is the play?

Amanda- Congrats on your Loss and the NSV!! :bravo: how old is your teething baby? I think my little one is starting to teeth too. Great times, huh?

Lou- how was your Thai dinner? I love Thai food!! We had a great Thai restaurant down the road from us when we lived in Germany.

Okay- gotta go and finish watching Desperate Housewives!!

losethirtysomething 12-05-2005 12:29 AM

Lori- I added your -8 pounds to our group ticker!
