Hi people. How are things? I had a good day exercising yesterday. Got to the gym for the first time in a long time and jogged out 5K. Will try and go again today. I wish I could jog a lot, especially when I am inspired to, but I know that my feet and/or knees will start to hurt if I do too much too soon. I don't know if I will ever be able to build up like they say you can. Perhaps if my weight comes down. Then again, I'm not all THAT heavy. Don't know. I like to jog but just never seem to be able to take the wear and tear. :(

Kempy -- Check out the first page of the challenge thread and you can see how it works. YOU decide what your challenge is so you can make it anything your want to, just as long as it's something you can do EVERY day for 21 days. What is Mary Kay, btw? Hope you had a good dinner out!

mele -- Your post inspired me to do a search for low-cal dressing recipes and I came up with some. Dressing is everything for me with a salad and yet the lowcal ones I can buy here are not that good, loaded with sugar or too expensive (imported brands). Speaking of salads, though it's cold now, I still may make myself one. I do this thing where I put on the veggies in a bowl and top it with kidney beans and cheese and then add warm brown rice on top. It's delicious! I make them at work and other people always want to make one for them, which I do when I'm feeling magnanimous! :sunny: I hope your weigh-in made you feel good! :goodscale

angie -- Good work on the treadmill. Are you walking or can you jog on it? I know a lot of the home treadmills are not really conducive to jogging. Btw, what are "wow chips?" Speaking of cats and Christmas trees, we always had them climbing them and often knocking them down. My father would put guide wires at the top of the tree and connected over to where the ceiling meets the wall (forget what that's called), fastened with a small nail. It stabilizes the tree. Give it a try and all you'll have to worry about with the cats are fallen ornaments. Another btw, what is the the "third time's a charm?" under your name mean? I take it this is about your weight-loss goal, no?

jbbm -- How are you? You are making my mouth water...crockpot chile and cornbread! Oh, yum!

Photo -- How is the marathon training coming along? You haven't mentioned it. Are you following a plan? Where and when is the race again? Do you ever get problems with your knees or feet like I do? I would love to be able to run in a marathon. Some years ago I was following a training program and it was coming along but then I must have gotten a stress fracture in my foot because I could not walk without a lot of pain for some weeks. I was doing 2-hour jogs though, very slow and on the treadmill and the pain started when I went back to the States and was jogging outside, where I think I was going faster than usual. Be careful with your training! :goodvibes

Dips -- How about that senior-citizen-sized font? Was this for my benefit? I may be the oldest person on here, no? Yes, I agree with the celebs and their trainers. They have zilcho anything for the most part, including talent! We poor folks are all the stronger, though, right! Wow, how great that you're down to 130. Do you really want to weigh less? I don't know what it would be like to weigh so little. The last time I was there I had lost all my muscle except for that to be had from doing a lot of jogging and cycling. I was smoking a ton and had lost it quickly. I thought I still looked fat though, so I guess, if you are short, and I think you are, you could want to weigh less. I think one problem too is that whenever I lose weight, I get discouraged at the loose skin and don't wait for it to tighten up before I go eating my way back up again. Do you think the skin is like calling out for something to fill it back up again? :lol3: Are you feeling better now and over your cold? I hope so! :spin:

melekalikimaka 11-15-2005 07:07 PM

Uh Huh....Oh Yeah....

Hey girls, just got back from my WW meeting and with my first week back "on plan" I have lost 6.6 lbs baby!!! That's almost as much as Michael weighed when he was born  I love this Flex Plan because if you follow it, it works like a charm. Why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why oh why did I weight so long to go back? Anyway, the main thing is I did go back and I have you guys to thank for the motivation and good vibes--so thank you, thank you very much (as said in my best Elvis voice). And yes Angie, I DO love the 1st week of weight loss

I am also very happy because I got 2 things I won off of ebay delivered today--2 leather jackets. Why 2? Because the first one I bid on was a cheapie ($30?) and I wasn't sure about the sizing....then the 2nd one I bid on I knew would fit because I have other stuff in that brand. The 2nd jacket is just a beautiful soft leather, I love it! It is used but it only cost me $51, whereas brand new it would run in the $200 range. I needed a new one for my Vegas trip because I outgrew my old one :ink:. I should be able to fit back into the old one after a few months on WW  So this girl is just on cloud nine right now.

Angie, did ya hang your decorations yet? I had a cat that would run up the middle of the tree and just rip down the light strings in the process. Needless to say that cat got thrown outside real quick

Kempy, hmmm, Hobby Lobby and Big Lots--2 stores we do not have here :( . You guys are lucky to be that cool. I am sitting here with the fan blowing and it's still hot. This darn humidity is killing me! Yeah, I hear you on wanting to weigh-in naked  It's scary to weigh in in front of people--but maybe it would be even scarier for them if I did it naked :s:

Hey Red, did that Japan earthquake affect where you guys are at all? I hope you're all well and good.

How's everyone else out there doing? Come on, jump in and join the party! :hat:

angieME 11-15-2005 07:11 PM

Hey Red, The third time s acharm means that This will be the third time I have had to lose all this weight and hopefully it is for good this time. I figure it took me quitting smoking 3 times for it to stick so maybe with the weight too......

WOW chips are a fat free chip they make over here. They taste just like regular potato chips.

I have to do a search for lowcal dressings too. I am gatting into salads lately but I dont really like the storebought ones.

Kempy, You are going to be a busy girl this month with all the parties. I hope you have fun.

angieME 11-15-2005 07:17 PM

Hey Noelle, YOU ARE AWESOME!!!! :carrot: :strong: :bravo: :cb: :cp: :dancer: :encore: :cheer: :turkey:
I dont know what the turkey has to do with this but isnt he cute?

You are doing so well, I think we are gonna do okay.

The salad dressings look good, I dont think I have ever seen those and believe me I stared at the dressing aisle for about an hour last week.

Way to go on the coats. I have one I bought the last time I lost this weight and I cant wait to get back into it.

Dips'n'twists 11-15-2005 08:54 PM

Yay Noelle!!

NOELLE NOELLE NOELLE!! You go girl! I am soooo proud of you. You and Angie are kicking butt! What a way to start the weigjt loss kick. I'm glad that you found a plan that is so easy for you. Keep it up and yoiu will be stylin for the new year!! I'm so happy for you! :carrot: Keep it up girl!!

Angie The third time will be the charm. One thing I hated this time around waqs losing weight I had already lost before. I vowed never to do that again. But you are definately on the right track. Keep it up, girl. Healthy is the way to be.

Red- You are such a funny girl  No I did not enlarge it for your benefit. I just wanted to see how the big font looked that's all. But it was easier to read right? :D Anyways, 130 on someone like 5'5" would be fabulous. But I stand 4'11" tall (or short if you prefer) So 130 is a little thick. It's funny because I have all these people around me telling me I don't need to lose anymore weight and when I post my pics you'll probably say the same but most healthy girls my height weigh at least 15 pounds less than I do. Becasue of my build ( I am a muscular girl) I know that I probably won't fall below 120 but we'll see. I jus wanna look god in a bathing suit :D By the way, I'm feeling much better these days. Thanks for asking :)

J- You stay eating chilly!! Are you originally from Texas??

Hey Kempy- Hope you find the time to pop in soon.

Okay girls, I got some work to do. TTYL

melekalikimaka 11-16-2005 01:33 AM

:encore: Thank you thank you  I am still floating on a cloud. The only thing i am pissed about today is that our downstairs bathroom/shower has been out of commission since last Thursday night. Rick flew out to Kauai over the weekend so he wasn't able to fix it. He got home Monday afternoon and figured out what the problem was but needed to get a part to fix it. Well, he told me he was at the supply house at 4 pm today and I have yet to see him 4-1/2 hrs later. I just know he's out in some bar somewhere. It is such a damned inconvenience to have to trek my butt upstairs in the middle of the night or wee hours of the morning to use the bathroom! OK end rant about that. I should look on the bright side and see it as a little bit more exercise with the stair climbing

Angie, it's my 3rd time trying to re-lose weight as well. Maybe we'll make it a permanent loss this time around? :crossed: I think if I stick with this WW plan it'll enforce the healthy eating habits which will become 2nd nature. We're such experts at losing eh, it's the maintaining that's hard. Love the turkey smiley, he's cute.

Dips, I didn't realize you were that petite. You make me and Angie feel tall  I think she's 5'2" and I'm 5'3"... I'd rather be muscular and a little heavy than a little heavy with flab

Darn, the washing machine is calling again--it's just a never-ending cycle isn't it? Well, have a good night. Chat tomorrow.

Dips'n'twists 11-16-2005 08:21 AM

Hi my gurlz

Happy hump day!!

Noelle- What an inconvenience! having to go out of your way just to use the bathroom? That sucks. True enough it burns extra calories but sheesh, still annoying :dizzy: So have you set a weekly goal for yourself or you just going with the flow of the WW program?

I feel a lot better so I'm going to go back to doing my daily push-ups. It's been about 2 weeks :o . I also want to see if I can fit pilates back into my daily routine. My lack of activity is helping me maintain rather than lose. I got on and off the scale 3 times this morning nad I'm still a solid 130. That scale won't budge! I had to have someone else get on it to make sure the 130 wasn't an automatic response  Darn scale makes me sick!

Hope everyone is well this morning. TTYL

PhotogirlTX 11-16-2005 10:42 AM

Hey Girls! I missed yesterday! What was I thinking? I just never made it here.

This is my first official week of training for the half marathon, and so far it's going well. Red.. I am on a training schedule. I am mixing my runs with crosstraining (ellipitcal or bike) and strength training. I do one long run a week, and just try to add to the mileage every week. I have one day of rest. But, as I said, this is only the first official week. Last week was just a warm up. :D I have 16 weeks to train, and the race is on March 5th!

Last night, I went to the Y and ran on the indoor track, 4 miles. It was much harder to do than running on my treadmill. I tend to make myself run faster at a natural pace on the track than what I do on the treadmill. Anyway... it was a good workout. Today, I have my easy day, running 3 miles on my treadmill at home.

Angie... 3 time is a charm for all of us!!! You are doing so great!!! I love hearing all of your positive energy now!

Noelle.. WTG GIRL on that weigh in!!!! It's it just amazing that when you do the right things, exercise and wise food choices how the weight will come off! :D GREAT JOB!

Red... Great job on the 5K!!! I am watching out on the training. The schedules that I have keep the runs pretty easy during the week, and then there is one long run .. where you build up your mileage and endurance. I am hoping it will be easy enough on my body that I won't have problems. I am just really taking notes on what my body is saying, and I am going to really focus on trying not to overtrain, like I know I would if I just did what I THOUGHT I should do. Rather... I am following the guidelines of someone who knows. :-) Just be sure to stretch before and after your runs... and if you are having feet problems, you might get your shoes checked. I have some orthodics that I have in my shoes that I had made several years ago. They were quite expensive, but since then, I haven't had the plantar facisa (ms) that I used to get all the time. It has really helped my foot health.

Dips.... you will break that barrier ANYDAYNOW!!!!! Just keep going!

Julie.. I had chili last night... I love chili too.. :-) How are the kiddos?

Cal.. HIYA!

Kempy..... Have fun XMAS shopping for decorations. I haven't hosted a party in so long.

OK.. I need to get back to work.... I'll talk to you guys soon!

Cherie

jbbm 11-16-2005 12:48 PM

Hi Girls

It is snowing here! I am actually liking it, haha....up north from us they got 12 inches. Schools were all closed. It seems to early in the year for that. Sorry I did not post last night. I was wiped out. I was at school helping in the class. 22 kindergartners are alot of work, LOL. I am also trying to get my house in order because my brother and sil are flying in today. This place is a complete mess, toys everywhere. Burn some calories cleaning though :)
I am pretty much staying on track with eating but excercising is taking more work. I have pms and I am bloated but I know excercisng helps with that so I have to get off my butt and DO IT!

Noelle you go girl! I am so proud of you. :carrot: :carrot: :bravo:
Sorry about the bathroom situation. It is a pain to get up in the middle of the night and go. I have been drinking too much water before bed and I have been up 2-3 times a night.

Angie I am confident that the 3rd time will stick! Are you going to be walking outside this winter or mainly do the treadmill? I may combine both. I think I will have to pick up a bag of the WOW chips.

Cherie, you are coming along with your training. Great job! Massage those legs so they don't get sore.

Kempy have fun decorating the house. I think I may get some of my decorations out. The snowman stuff anyway.

Dips glad you are feeling better. Your arms are going to look great in sleeveless shirts for next summer :)

Cal I have to tell you that being a teacher must be so much work. I can't believe how organized the teacher has to be. I think teachers are great :)

Well my work is calling me and dd is wanting lunch soon. I have to plan out some dishes to bring to my mom's for our early Thanksgiving dinner. I am going to make jello jigglers for the kids and some kind of jello salad and I think a green bean casserole and some homemade pumpkin or cranberry bread. I think I will turn on some Christmas tunes! Check back soon. Have a great day all.

Hi Red

angieME 11-16-2005 01:22 PM

Good Afternoon girls!! I am late getting here today. I have done a half an hour workout so at least the one I have planned to do everyday is done. I did an extra 15 minutes on the bike yesterday bringing yesterdays total to 45 minutes. I feel pretty good now. I have a huge pot of spaghetti sauce in the crockpot for supper tonight.

Noelle, I have a master bath in my bedroom and I cant imagine not having it now. I must have a small bladder or something because I can pee nonstop. I love the convenience plus I dont have to share a bathroom with 3 dirty little kids. haha.

Dips, You had me laughing. I have made other people jump on my scale a few times too. I bet the scale will move for ya soon.

Cherie, I really admire you. You are working so hard and doing great! I wished I could be there to watch you run(notice the key word....watch   ) I cant run since I had kids I will pee myself when I try to run. It sucks too because I would love to run.

Julie, We got some yucky weather yesterday. It snowed then sleet and now rain. GROSS! I am kinda looking forward to some snow for Christmas too though. It can leave after that though. :snow4: :gift2:

That is so nice that you get to see your brother today. I know how badly you have missed him. Have fun and tell them I said hi.

Well, that is about it for me so far today. My food is Breakfast: cereal and skim milk- Lunch: turkey sandwich and chips- Supper will be spaghetti with garlic bread and a salad. I also intend to add another 15-20 minute workout tonight.

melekalikimaka 11-16-2005 01:23 PM

Good morning girls, happy hump day. Well, I'm home this morning as Rick is working on the bathroom repair FINALLY! I think I'll take the dog out for a walk this morning since I'll be at an appointment in the afternoon and probably won't make it home before dark. See how motivated I am? I'm going to get my hair cut this morning as well, nothing drastic, just a trim to even things up and keep it healthy. I have to look good for the weekend as Rick and Michael will be gone and I will have a girls' night out w/my best buds. That will be fun.

Hi Julie, I can see how you'd be so drained from spending the day with an entire classroom of kindergarteners  Yeah, I don't know how Cal does it--of course she has 7th graders which I think could be worse ;), right Cal? That is so nice you get to spend Thanksgiving with your brother and SIL. So when are you going to go visit them out west?

Cherie, I gotta give you credit girl, 4 miles running. I am tired just thinking about it. You sound like you're in a good place right now. I remember in high school where they used to make us do 4 laps around the track and that was only a mile...I think.... me and another chubby friend used to run twice around then walk the rest, we were so lazy.

Dips, I know with you being in the Army and all you can do real push ups. My arms are so weak that I am only doing the kind where you stand up against the wall. Baby steps for me :) Glad to hear you are feeling better. I'm with Cherie, you will break that barrier, just keep going.

Red, good job on your 5K girl. That sounds so major to me, I am so not a runner. Do a lot of the Japanese people jog around town? I'm just asking because they come down in droves during the Honolulu marathon and the Great Aloha Run coming up February. There are some serious runners from Japan that come but sometimes you see families pushing strollers in the races and moms wearing dresses and heels, it's a sight to see. I know they charter tours to fly in from there.

Gotta grab a break here...I'll be back later. Have a good one everybody.

Kempyd 11-16-2005 04:13 PM

Man, I turn off the puter for a few hours and you guys burn up the site with chat. :D

I really didn't find any decorations that I couldn't live without. We are going to head down to New Orleans to shop Saturay so I might be able to find somethings there. I want to give some economy to the city anyway.

Red Mary Kay is a cosmetics company. They are branching out to your part of the globe now so I bet you will be hearing about them soon. I am not areally a big makeup wearer but I love the skin care stuff.

Noelle you ROCK!!!!!!! That is just the greatest thing. I am still working on a 2 lbs loss but I am working on it and that is what matters. I not only have to get up in the middle of the night now we are having to let Echo out at around 1AM. For some reason she is having to go lots more.

Angie and Julie I wish we would get snow. We are cold today though so I am not going to complain. It feels awesome outisde. We are hugh windows on the back on the house so the sun warms us up so I have to open a window to keep it kind of cool in here. It is supposed to be 36 tonight though. BRRRRR

Cherie I just can't say it enough, I am so proud of you. Training like this, it is just great.

Dips when you workout do you do the same things that they had you doing in the military?

I really need to get my house in order. I havn't put the things away that I bought today. I'll check back in a bit.

PhotogirlTX 11-16-2005 09:06 PM

Hey Girls!!! Well, it's 8 PM and I am actually checking in here. I've got the girls in the showers, and soon they will be off to bed. Then it's off for me to go hang up the three baskets of laundry that are in my room. WAITING.

I did my three miles on the treadmill tonight. I upped it to 4.5 miles and hour and did it in 40 minutes. 400 calories burned according to my HRM. Not bad, I'll take it. :D

Kempy.. I was wondering how NOLA is doing.. I hope they start to bounce back soon.

Angie.. WTG ....wow.. you are doing great!!!!

Noelle.. I hope Rick go the bathroom fixed!

Julie.. you are brave.. all those kiddos..my two drive me crazy.. I couldn't be a homeroom mom!

Well, I am tired and stuffed. Had soft tacos tonight. I feel like I should get back on the treadmill for more work, but naw.... that's no fun! :-)

I'll see you all tomorrow!

Dips'n'twists 11-16-2005 11:48 PM

Hello My Gurlz...

I am beat! I just want to crawl into bed and get some shut-eye. Of course I had to check in with my girls first:

Cheri- ou continue to amaze me. You have an excellent pace going on but the tread mill does spoil you. t is more difficult to run on a track because the mental challenge is greater. That's why I hate running on tracks. I would rather run on the road or through the park, that way I can check out what's happening around me and not think so much about running. I would totally run with you if I were there. :tread: Its been a minute since I ran a good distance but running is a mental thing for me. Once I get my rythm, I could go for a while.

Kempy- Is the house in order yet?? I want to get some decorations myself but I just can't find the time. Maybe next weekend. You'll get your metabolism into gear soon enough. I can't wait for your weigh-in success post :D Good luck finding some cool stuff in new orleans. BTW, The only thing I do that I did in the Army is push ups. A lot of the military excersises can cause serious injury if you are not properly supervised. Besides, the army builds you up for combat so you get all bulky. I'll see if I can dig out some of my army pics. you'd swear I was a boy  These days I do things to make me look feminine and cute.

Noelle- Glad you finally got Rick to work on the bathroom. I bet your hair looks great too. These days I only have time to keep mine braided. It's easy maintainance (just like my Army days) Anyways, looks like you'll be getting some action this weekend. Can't wait to hear all about it! Be good, remember, I'm young and impressionable and you're an influence on me ;) By the way, push ups are challenging but I bet you're underestimating your strength. Besides, those wall push ups are no joke either. My dad was a soldier also, I used to do them with him when I was a little girl so I had many many years of practice. If I show you the technique, I'm sure you could give me a good 5 right now :drill:

J- Wow. That's all I can say. I mean I grew up in a house full of kids but they varied in age. 22 5 year-olds might move me to murder  You're right though about the teachers, the control they have over a room full of rambunctious kids is unbelievable. You get credit for doing it for a day. That's one more day than I would be bothered  Did you say it's snowing by you and you like it? :?: Well do me a favor and keep it for yourself! I hate the snow. I'm actually hoping we go the whole winter without it. (wishful thinking I know)

Angie- I could use some sketti! :hun: Mind if I stop by for a plate?? You are working so hard. I am so proud of you! You are going to accomplish big things by the time x-mas rolls around! Sorry about the yucky weather. It's rainy over here in the apple. That's cool though, I'll take rain over snow any day :rain: I'm not too worried about the scale by the way. I know as soon as I get active again, things will happen. I'll keep you posted.

Red- What's good dirl. A 5K, huh. How many miles is that? I never was any good at the whole metric conversion. How's everything otherwise. Hey, are you making your way back to the states any time soon?

Okay, gals, I'm gonna see if I can post some pics for the fun of it

Dips'n'twists 11-17-2005 12:54 AM
