I'm back!
Angie - you talking about bugs in the light fixtures made me laugh, because Katie got a new pole lamp for her room when we moved in here in August, and she knocked it over accidentally the other day, and screamed her head off. It was full of dead beetles and she wigged out because they fell into her clothes basket of clean clothes. Susan - the girls will outgrow the fighting, hon. Mary and Katie used to fight and it broke my heart. Now that they're grown, they are the best of friends. Very close. Btw, Neal and I started out as friends. You see how that turned out, lol. I'm so excited that you're about ready to book your room! Be sure and ask for the same floor as Cristi and me, ok? OMG, this is going to be so much fun! Cristi - yes, the death toll and injured numbers have gone up. Although we have relatives in Evansville and Newburgh, none of them were hurt. Good luck with your weigh in tomorrow!! I've rested and goofed off most of the day, but did make it to Walmart. Needed more fresh fruit, veggies, bread and milk. I'm happy to report that I'm doing great with the food and water. :cp: I haven't been on the gazelle since Thursday, which I know that's terrible, but I for sure got lots of walking in on Friday and Saturday. Hope you are having a great weekend. |
Hello Ladies--
This weekend went way too fast! I felt like I Slept through a lot of it and I feel so GUILTY about that. I have such a hard time on weekends to have a normal time frame.....and I usually do ok w/Jhanai over, but this weekend....sheesh!! I was up at 11:30 today and I rushed out the livingroom and immediately started apologizing to her saying "Oh Jhanai, I'm so sorry I wasn't up sooner!! I'll make you breakfast or lunch...whichever you want.....I'm so sorry!! I love you" then proceeded to give her kisses. Then she tells me "mom, I've only been up for half an hour!" Good lord! Jane--Very happy to hear that Neil had a wonderful time. Do you have photos you want to share??And it sounds like you did a wonderful job w/the eating! So proud of you. I too would not have wasted pts on cold food!! (although, I would have went back up and to have heated food! :D ) Cristi--I've been wanting to read again. I pretty much took the summer off from reading...it's more of a winter thing don't you think? I would love to figure out how I could prop up a book while working out on the gazelle.....but I'm not sure how to MacGyver such a thing! Angie--Boring life? You still sound so busy and on the go for someone who is having a boring life! Now me....that's a boring life. Spend a lot of time alone at home waiting to go to work. Boy...I think I need to go out more! Susan--I feel for ya!! Sending you hugs!! I have to say I was disappointed in Rachael for not apologizing to you.....teens! Is this what I have to look forward to? Hello to anyone I may have missed. This week at work we are having individual meetings w/our supervisor for our evalutions. We already got a print out handed to us, but this week he'll be working on talking to us. I had a good evaluation. But I'm truly looking forward to meeting up w/him so I can voice some things that have been bothering me lately. First one to talk about......moving to day shift. At least the afternoon shift so I would be home by 8:00. This night shift crap is getting to me, and I feel like I'm going crazy at time. We'll see what is said. It would be good for Jhanai too...I wouldn't sleep in til noon! Ok...I think I'm going to go for now. I will catch up in the morning! Hugs to all! |
Hi gals
Getting ready to head off to the gym. I did update our photo album; It's mostly pictures of the remodel...but, if you're interested, well, there you go: http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/rosiekate37/my_photos I think I mentioned this on the other thread but DH and I are booked for The Flamingo. Asked to be put by Jane and Cristi, so we'll see. Going to get airfare as we get closer so we can book on Southwest, possibly. Weight is holding steady at 180...but I am burning lots of fat from all the exercise. My clothes are getting pretty baggy. Hopefully the scale will budge soon. Sorry I'm not doing individuals, just not enough time, but I do read and try to keep up that way. Have a great day everyone |
Good Monday morning ladies!
Went for my morning walk and it felt good! :tread: Thought since I hadn't gotten much walking in the past week it would be a little hard but it was refreshing. Did 3.23 miles and felt GREAT! Also, got tow bottles of water down already which is good for me. I am concentrating on four bottles and have been since doing the WATP book when she introduced water into the walking. I've been doing great with it, with the exception of this past week. I did get some walking in while in GA but the water...hardly any at all. So gotta get back in the habit of walking everyday and drinking the water every day. I am thankful that the weather has been really nice. It was a little cool when we started but warmed up real quick! I know once it gets cold I will be doing a lot of treadmill walking, or possibly mall walking. Also, I am pleased with my WI this morning. I was so sure I gained at least 2 pounds but I only gained 1/2 pound! So I am grateful for that. Not usually grateful for a gain but this time I am. Because I know it will be off this week. Anywho... Jane~can't remember the last count now but that is just horrible. I think that is one of my worst fears...a tornado hitting in the middle of the night/early morning and not hearing an warning. I'll take an earthquake any day. Glad your family in Evansville is fine. WTG on maintaining and doing great with your water and food! :bravo: Marti~I can only imagine being on your work schedule. I would think it definitely would be hard to change it on the weekends when you are used to it during the week. I am sure sweet little Jhanai totally understands. About the reading...yeppers...for me it seems to be a winter thing too. Not sure why. I will keep my fingers crossed in the hopes you can get your schedule changed. :crossed: I've tried the reading thing on the treadmill and exercise bike! Not happenin'! I can't read if I'm moving. Katie~I bet you guys will be glad when the add on is finished. It's coming along fine it looks like though. Thanks for sharing the pics. :thanks: The kids are so cute in their costumes and love the bedroom-all the windows! I need to get going ladies, busy day today, sort of. I need to vacuum and dust, going to mow the front yard so when V get's home he can edge and weed eat it and put the winterizer stuff on it-even though it is supposed to be in the 70's today and 80 tomorrow! Then plant some bulbs, trim some bushes and wash my car. Right now I am headed to Hallmark to get some cards and candles. I am out of candles and hate not having any! So take care ladies and have a wonderful day! |
Hello Ladies!
Katie--Wow, you've done a lot to your house! Busy busy busy! Now, are you remodeling rooms or are you adding onto the house? Everything looks like it's being added on to the house. For some reason, I also thought you were just remodeling one room. For goodness sakes, I need to keep up w/you girls! Cristi--Yeah, you're right, moving and reading don't really mix. Now a magazine, I can flip through a magazine....a little when I'm on the eliptical or treadmill. But nothing is going to happen w/that darn gazelle. I'll just keep the tv on while working out. Didn't workout today btw. I woke up extremely tired. I took the dogs out, yelled at them for getting into the trash last night (I had to clean up the kitchen this morning!! They have NEVER done that before) and then I fed them, even though I felt like I shouldn't, then....I crashed on the couch for another hour!! Sheesh!! I had to finally FORCE my self up and go take a shower! Now, to eat some breakfast...even though it's pass noon already! :dizzy: Well I can't wait to talk to my supervisor. I hope I'm close to one of the first ones on the night shift to talk. I REALLY want to switch to days. I may not get to until January when we've moved...but that's ok w/me!! As long as in my future, I am going to days. If not, I'm searching through the company for a day time position. Billing would be ideal! They start at 8:00 in the morning...off by 4:30. No weekends or holidays ever!! Now.....to get my foot in the door for that! Ok....tummy starting to talk to me so I better eat. Chat w/you all later! |
Hi ladies,
Marti - here's hoping you get on days. That would work out great for you and your family. January will be here before you know it. Katy - thanks for sharing the pictures! You guys have done a lot of work. Like Marti said, I had no idea it was such an extensive remodel. Cristi - YAY for a not-too-big gain, lol. Sounds like you had a busy day planned. Today was fun! I had Mary's kids over to dust my living room. They needed to "earn" money to buy a present for the door-greeter at Walmart. This is an older woman who has all but adopted the 3 girls, and her bd is Wednesday. So that's why they dusted for me, lol. On a totally different subject, I just found out that different color plantains taste differently. The black ones are kind of sweet when you cook them, but the green ones are more like a potato. They're kind of high in calories but very filling. Lots of nutrients. I've fixed the black ones before and am planning to see how a green one turns out. Have any of you cooked the green ones? Speaking of different, wow, I'm different than you ladies when it comes to books. I have one going every single day of the year and would be so lost without one. Usually I read right before bedtime, but if the book is really, really good, I'll drop everything to read it. Have a good evening, oh jaded ones. :D |
Hi again...
Popping in real quick before I run some errand before work! Jane--What a sweet thing for the girls to do to earn money. And for the Walmart greeter! That is so nice. Our walmart greeters change everday. And usually it's some young highschool student.......not very cheerful, more like :Why am I working here? kind of attitude. I say, be happy you have a job! :D So....has anyone noticed the holiday trackers?? I have one up (if you haven't already noticed) and I thought it was cute! There isn't a lot there, but what they do have are really cute. I thought I would pass the word along to let you know. Ok...grocery shopping for some garden burger stuff. Talk to you all tomorrow! |
What a day! That's about sums it up! :D
I went to work knowing that I was going to start cross training in the reference department today. Here I was thinking it was for the rest of the month.....then I was told it was for the next 5months! What?! Why wasn't I told? Actually I don't mind it a bit. Very quiet, very relaxing, and not a bunch of hoodly hoo going on in there. BUT: I want to go to days, if there is a spot available for me to go to days, I want it. So maybe this cross training is a waste of time. And another thing...I was talking to one of the lead gals about why wasn't I told it's for 5months.....SHE had no idea either! Lack of communication!!! Someone needs to whip that place into shape!! Ok.....got my venting and rantings of my chest...and I feel much better! :D :D Oh....I got a compliment today, actually, I got a couple of them today that I was just floating because I think my head started to swell! First one: I went to the grocery store to pick up some stuff...and bought James some beer while I was there. (not a beer drinker here) I got carded! And she kept looking at me and then my license, then at me, and then back at my license.....She just smiled and said "wow" Second one: I walked into the reference department to start my training. The gal who is training me looks at me and asked: Have you lost weight? You look great! Third: I was on my break. Three girls were talking about there 10yr highschool reunions they all just had over the summer. They asked me when mine was....I told them that my 20yr reunion is in 4yrs. They all just stared at me! Gals...if all that didn't just make me float away w/a swelled head, I don't know what could!! I felt good. And I was in awe. I haven't been complimented like that all at once ever! So it was pretty cool. So I spent the rest of the night struttin' my stuff like some Peacock looking for a mate! Ok...I think I"ve rambled on long enough about myself. Need to deflate a little. Hugs and goodnight! |
Good afternoon ladies
Marti~nothing like having someone making your day! :cloud9: Yay, for the compliments! :cp: I do hope you can get a day time position or at least the earlier hours. What exactly is cross training? It never ceases to amaze me the things companies do. I hear all kinds of crap like that from V. I completely forgot that the company was moving in January...are they moving closer to where you live? I can't remember. Hey, I can't even flip through a magazine while on a treadmill! I saw you had a holiday ticker thingy and added one yesterday but then changed it around again today! :dizzy: I went ahead and put my HW, etc. as an all time ticker and added the holiday one as a mini-goal one. I had a holiday one from tickerfactory, a turkey one but didn't care for the turkey one so went ahead and did a holiday one. It's wintery so it can stay for a while, not just for December, so I kind of copied you :D Jane~how sweet! Our door greeters here are like what Marti said. They have had a different person there the last few weeks and they are just grouchy looking! :( They too look like they would rather be somewhere else. I did have a busy day planned yesterday and boy was it ever. I was going to wait and mow the back today but we are moving a tree and so Vince mowed the side where it is going and I decide since dinner was cooking I would go ahead and finish it. Plus I didn't realize that you had to water the lawn before putting the winterizer stuff on. Seems odd because most of the time when you fertilize you water the lawn to death to keep it from burning. Anyway, didn't get everything done so will finish today. Can't help you on the plantains, never had one. DD and I went to the Wichita Art Museum this morning after my walk. Didn't get much of a walk in though. The wind is blowing too hard. Jeez, it cracks me up when it is this windy and the guys on the news say "It's going to be a little breezy." Breezy...ummm, more like a tornado. Was kind of funny trying to walk in it so only did a mile-better than nothing I supposed. I over did it yesterday mowing the front and back and raking leaves and such. The yard is ready for winter though which I think we will be having soon. Suuposed to get up in the 80's today and then drop to the 60's tomorrow. Anyway, the museum was okay. It is small and two of the rooms were closed due to security issues and they had to take the art out of them. Spent 1 1/2 hours there, it was nice, small but nice. Now when V gets home it's back in the yard again. He started the hole for the tree so he's going to finish that today. Then we will plant some tulip bulbs, and wrap the bbq up. We put the patio furniture in the garage yesterday, debating over to put the swing in there also. That's about it. I did get some reading done last night, really trying to finish those two books! I am half-way through with Janet Evanovich then will finish the other one. Jane, I get in moods where I will read all the time but here lately I can't seem to concentrate on what I am reading, books that is. I can read magazine articles, no problem but haven't been able to stick with finishing a book. I feel like I should be doing something else instead of sitting. Last night though V wanted to watch football so I went in the bedroom and there was nothing on the tv so I read. I was doing that for a while, reading every night. It seems since I have been walking though when I go to bed I am ready to go to sleep. It really does help with my sleeping. Anyway... Hi to everyone else  Take care ladies, hope you are having a great day! |
Just a fast hello. My suprvisor was demoted to a site manager yesterday. Very upset about that because he originally hired me 2 1/2 years ago and the way they did it was disgusting - so upset. Just not right at all.
Though I will have another great supervisor to work with so that is some good news. I called child support and a 107 check was issued yesterday! yay....hope it is in my mail box when I get home. I think I might be lucky to have 5 in my wallet now - lol. Been making some awesome crock pot chicken stew - so yummy and healthy. I better go.......need to get out of here on time. |
Hiya ladies,
Marti - wow, 3 NSV all in a row! YAY for you, toots!! Also glad that you're in a new dept. and hope you'll still have a chance for a day shift. Cristi - it was near 80 here today, too, but the temps are falling. The rabbits around here ate most of my tulip bulbs. I know there is a device you can plant them in to prevent them from getting to the bulb, but I just haven't got some yet. Sometimes, even in the dead of winter, I want to sit in the swing. So I leave it up all year. It's really hard on them, but very thereputic for me, lol. Susan - sorry about your supervisor. :( Sometimes things just aren't fair. Is your crock pot chicken stew similar to beef stew? I make a thick chicken soup, more like a chowder, that has chicken, carrots, potatoes, peas and seasonings in the crock pot. Share your recipe, ok? You know how we love new recipes! Speaking of which - Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away. What's everyone doing for the day? I'm cooking here, with Mary's help, and then we're going to my sister's house for awhile where all my relatives will be. Then we're coming back here and Neal's brother Paul will join us for leftovers. He's having his noon meal with Deborah's side of the family. Madison asked me, without any prompting from anyone, if I'd make a cherry pie for Thanksgiving, so then Makenzie asked for a chocolate one. Of course, I said yes. Then I told Mary she'd have to do the pumpkin ones, lol. Gonna do some surfing - have a good one, ladies! |
Hi everyone...busy, busy here. Great weather and lots to do to get the house in order. Had to buy hedge trimmers and DH has everything all shaped up. The next project is to dig up a palm and plant it on the other side of the drive-way. That should be fun.
No big jackpots hit for us..but fun trying. |
Hi Ladies,
Marti, thats fantastic with all them compliments...I think you needed that to perk you up. I don't know how anyone can read while working out. I remember this one woman complaining in the dressing room at the gym about how she wasn't loosing any weight and she works out each and every day. I had heard her going on about this almost every day so finally I told her to put the magezine she was reading down and work up a sweat! Jane,,,,can you make me a pumpkin pie? (big puppy eyes) That is so sweet of the girls to be getting something for the greeter. I like the two we have...I always make a point of saying hello and bye when i pass them. Ken was so helpful when Brandon had surgery he helped me get a scooter for him so he could shop...can't beat that. Cristi, maybe walking in the wind was more of a workout then how far you went...resistence training...lol I just got the #11 book of Janet Evanovichs and will be settling down to devour it. Susan, that is so sad about your supervisor being demoted. Finished the wig (Rup. long hair) I hate wigs! all that icky clingly fake hair...*shudder feels like spider webs. I spray painted Cinderella's slippers. Have to sew Jack's curtains,,,and make the bag for the Baker. Tanner is gone to band camp for 3 days...kinda lonely without him around. Monte and John (carpenter) have done the walls just have to do drywalling and taping and such. Excited about having more space. I got my nails back on...finally...I was reverting back to my bad habit,,,chewing. Which I know is gross but I can't help it,,,nervous habit. Work was interesting,,,had a problem with the computers and so for 2 hours we couldn't take any calls...this is like life and death in a call centre. Came home and took a nap..been tired alot lately. Have to go for blood work tomorrow. Hoping my iron is up...even though feeling like its dropped abit. Had to buy a new kennel for Miss Skittles...she has been a naughty girl and doing her business on my carpet! We have a rug cleaner and got every thing all cleaned up but she has done it again so will have to kennel her while Im at work. Bought her some doggy shoes too,,,her lil paws get cold fast when shes outside..she doesn't like them even though they are a really pretty suede blue, with white fake fur around it. Would you call this an NSV? I was taking my nap Sunday when I woke I noticed my ring was not on my finger. It had fallen off while I slept. Thankfully I found it... night ladies... Angie |
Good Morning -
What does NSV stand for Ang? I am taking the girls to the coast from the 22nd thru Thanksgiving evening . I have to be back at work on Friday the 25th. I didn't get my CS check yet but I called the auto system again and I thoght it had said 107 the first time but after listening to it 2 more times it was saying 135 issued on the 7th. I hope I get it today! It is VERY unfair about my supervisor - hate it and full of stress now. I guess he took 2 weeks off and may or may not come back as a site manager. I wouldn't. Why should he? After 20 years in the company.....disgusting! The other property manager was demoted to back to maintenace - he will be fixing the company vans/trucks now - sheesh.....they both started out 20 odd years ago in the maintenance department together. Anyway, I liked him.He was someone that believed in me and gave me a chance to interview for the SM position and learn over the 2 1/2 years. At least I still have Erik around...... blah - I FEEL so fat,,,,,depressed and ugly. Co worker just showed up wearing OVERWHELMING aftershave!!!! What an $%#.......now he opened the pocket door and all my heat is going away,,,,,,,brrrrrr better get!! |
Hiya Chickies
What are we doing for Thanksgiving? Well...we will be putting up Christmas decorations/lights outside. And will do the inside the day after. I won't be cooking a big dinner, just a usual dinner with dessert, nothing fancy or big. We are going to have our Thanksgiving Dinner when Josh comes home, actually the day after-December 3. Susan~(((((HUGS)))))! :grouphug: That's terrible about your boss. I wouldn't blame him for not going back either. Keeping my fingers crossed that the check is in the mail today for ya. :crossed: A visit to the coast for Thanksgiving sounds so very nice and peaceful. Your stew sounds so yummy! :T Today would be a great stew or chili day. Jane~how sweet! Makenzie has good taste! Cherry pie is my favorite too! :T I think I am going to keep the swing out back after all. I too like sitting outdoors no matter what the weather, well, with the exception of rain. I did take the canopy thing off because while we were gone we had a bad thunderstorm and Jason said the wind blew the swing backwards so he moved it to where it wouldn't go anywhere and the canopy ripped across the top. So I am going to fix it with some tape stuff I have, something like bias tape and then wash it and put it back on. Thankfully we don't have anything around that could get to the bulbs, unless of course we get another mole but haven't seen any lately. We had one in the front that was digging around the shrubs but we got it. Angie~you are right...I didn't get very far with the walking but it was a workout. It's was hard walking into the wind, but kind of funny when it was behind me. Janet's #11 is the one I am reading, or should I say trying to read. I love her writing and it is funny! I want so bad for Stephanie and Joe to get married but then at the same time I think it would kind of ruin things, it wouldn't be the same. Maybe when she gets tired of writing the stories the last book will end with them getting married and having kids. And I would call it a NSV indeed! Hope you have a GREAT WI today! Sue~hope you and hubby are enjoying Vegas! Have fun moving the palm tree. Hopefully it's not too big. We did that yesterday...moved a tree. I had been wanting to move it for a while and just now got around to doing it. V was afraid it would die so we will see. Marti~did you tape The Biggest Loser last night? I caught the show, it was pretty good. So sad when one has to leave though. I can't believe how far they have all come. And again, the best part is seeing the end results of the person booted off. They take so much away from the show and continue with it which is great! I won't say anymore in case you haven't seen it yet. :sssh: Have yet to get my walk in today. Going to do that as soon as I get off the computer. Doing the treadmill today because I overslept this morning and it is still windy. So I am not going to attemp a walk outdoors. I can deal with the cold but the wind drives me mad. :dizzy: Had to go to Wal-Mart first thing because we were out of just about everything! And the rest of the day, after my walk, will consist of doing a couple loads of laundry, changing the sheets on my bed and vacuuming. And that's about all I have. Take care chickies and have a wonderful day! |
