WHEN should the Jaded Ladies meet?

Oh, I'm so glad we're really doing this!! I can't tell you how much fun and bonding there was in Philly with the mods, and meeting you girls will be great!

No matter where we end up, don't you think we need to pick a date to meet? Seems like everyone thought June was ok, if I'm remembering correctly, and if we go to Vegas, we for sure don't want to go later than that, do we? July and Aug would be sooooo hot. May and September are school months. Hmmmmm....

The first weekend of June is totally out for me, because I have my family reunion then, and it's the only time of the year that everyone is together. Most of us make it for Thanksgiving, but not everyone does.

How about the 2nd weekend? Would that be ok? Father's Day is the 3rd Sunday, so that's out. Or the last weekend? Is that getting too close to the July 4th holiday? It would work for me. So would the 2nd weekend.

Susan, Neal isn't sure he wants to come, so you may not be the only "single", lol.

Jaded Ladies, please chime in with your ideas, ok?

Mom2Gaby 10-12-2005 07:51 PM

Your reasoning sounds perfect Jane, 2nd weekend would be ok with me.

Though I might bring the girls as a vacation and they can entertain themselves some while we meet up. I am sure you would all want to meet them??? haha.

Geez, Angie bring the boys and we can pair them up with the girls :)

da fat n da furious 10-13-2005 12:16 AM

Nah Ive already brought them to Vegas before...Brandon was itching to get on the tables,,too young Whewww And Tanner loved the buffets....lol

I think I can do second week in June. Im hoping Monte can come then too,,,plus my friend Becky who by now should be joined up with us.

We have talked about doing Vegas this would be fun...

RosieKate 10-13-2005 08:41 AM

Talked it over with DH, and we can't get away until he is done with school, so we are looking at the last weekend of June. We are most definitely not bringing the kids, lol!

FrouFrou 10-13-2005 12:51 PM

Just about anytime is good for me so whatever you ladies decide on will be fine. As it stands either weekend of June would be fine. Like Marti, this will be a vacation for me so I will be taking a week, possibly two. Not that that has anything to do with anything. I just need to work things out and figure if I want to drive or fly. I know flying would be cheaper but want to do other things along the way I think. Hubby won't be coming but I will bring DD-she is 21, will be 22 in January and you guys won't even know she's there. She's so quiet.

Another question...are we all going to try and stay at the same place or is everyone going to do their own thing and meet somewhere? That may have to be your next poll/thread Jane. :)

da fat n da furious 10-13-2005 08:09 PM

I think we had better get rooms in the same place...and we can double up for them single ladies...PJ party!

Jane 10-14-2005 11:23 AM

We should stay at the same place and have a PJ party. I could get a suite and we could meet up there. If we stay on the strip, my sister recommends the Stardust hotel. Nice, but not TOO pricey. She and her hubby stay downtown, but says if you've never been to Vegas, the strip is best. Neal's been there, but I haven't.

The last weekend of June will work for me, Katy. Actually it's better than the 2nd weekend, since Neal wanted us to go fishing in Michigan the 2nd week, but I didn't want to sound too picky, lol.

How does that work for you others? WOO HOO!!! SIN CITY, here we come!!

FrouFrou 10-14-2005 12:40 PM

Jane~was going to say the Stardust is fine by me but...I went and checked it out to see what it looks like and where exactly it is and it is nice enough but...thought I would see about making reservations to get a price for 4 days in June and...there are no vacancies from May-September!!! :yikes: If someone else wants to go there and see what they come up with and actually come up with vacancies let me know. But I came up with nothing for the Stardust. It did give me a list of places with vacancies though. If course I will have to go back and see what they are. Was concentrating on the Stardust I didn't look at the bottom of the page so when I printed it it only listed two which were kind of pricey.

Mom2Gaby 10-14-2005 01:31 PM

I have my heart set on Circus Circus - kids and all. Might be fun for adults too???? They have rides - roller coaster - I think - we can see who yells the loudest - jk.

Just a thought - might be too kiddie for some but right up the Gabsters alley - lol

RosieKate 10-14-2005 07:12 PM

I'll check out Circus-Circus - that sounds like fun. DH wants to stay on the strip..possibly the Flamingo as he has stayed there before. If we decide on a place, we might be able to get a deal on a group of rooms. FYI - If anyone is interested in mid week; we are thinking about coming Thurs - Sat. I noticed on expedia that the packages are about $100 less than Fri - Sun. We have some flexibility once DH is out of school. I've been having fun looking at Vegas.com..there's a map there with hotels on it.

da fat n da furious 10-14-2005 09:50 PM

Ok sounds like I am the experienced one....
I have stayed at circus circus..its ok,,,
Excalibur,,,is ok
Flamigo is ok...
The trick for pricing is to find the 1-800 for these places and talk to someone. I was able to get a room at the Excalibur for 37. bucks. Yes this was a few years ago,,,but if we can find out how many rooms we will need we can then go in with how many rooms we can work them down for.

FrouFrou 10-15-2005 02:26 AM

Katy~that's where I spent a few hours today...Vegas.com! There is so much to look at and I still haven't covered everything. Thursday thru Saturday is good with me. I was looking into Friday thru Monday but that would be fine. I am really flexible about when, where, etc.

As I said before it doesn't matter to me where we stay so I will just go along with whatever you ladies want to do. The Aladdin, Luxor and one more caught my eye, darn can't remember what it was now. Oh well, I did print out a bunch of stuff and I am sure there will be more. I bet too if we book a bunch of rooms we could get a better rate wherever we stay. Anyway, The Flamingo looks good to me and...most of June is open right now. Looked at Circus Circus and there are no vacancies for June.

Marti 10-15-2005 03:24 PM

As I mentioned in Chitchat....When we go is another issue for James & me.
He can't put in his time until January. I mention that you all wanted to go around June. He already has people he knows that are planning to take vacation around fathers day.

So until he is able to put in his request, we won't know. But hopefully it'll work out. I think the last weekend would be best for us. We could arrive that weekend, I could spend my day w/you girls and then the rest of the week would be devoted to anniversary gettaway!!

Now I'm off to visit Vegas.com

Jane 10-15-2005 07:15 PM

If most of you want the Flamingo, that would be good for me too. Sounds like we need to book ASAP, don't you think so?

Susan - so sorry for you Circus Circus is booked! The Flaminco will be nice though, too.

Angie - I bet we couldn't get any discount for the few rooms we'll need, but you are the experienced one, not me. I for sure want a suite of some sort, and may go ahead and book since all the hotels are filling up fast.

Cristi - I could go early, but will get homesick if I do, so I'm staying with Friday through Sunday, unless Neal comes, but we really haven't had a chance to talk about it yet. We'll talk more about it this weekend.

Marti - hopefully James will get the time off then. If not, I hope you'll come anyway!

Katy - who's watching your kiddos while you're playing in Vegas? How long has it been since just you and your sweetie have been away alone?

Katiecat - is all this do-able for you??

Mindee - any chance of you coming along then? The baby will be about 8 months old, and you'll need a break by then, lol.

Connie and any other new ones.... please try to join us, ok?

Is everyone up for the Flamingo?

janet_921 10-15-2005 09:18 PM

Jane,
Im hoping to join you guys in Vegas next year...but just not all that sure right now..I live in PA and have to check flights and such and not sure if hubby wants to come or not..but, once you guys start booking..I'll know for sure....
Thanks for the invite...
Janet

Mom2Gaby 10-17-2005 01:12 PM

:fr: :fr: :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: :fr: :fr:

No Circus Circus????? omg, omg, omg, omg. This will put me in a depression.........gotta eat SOMETHING!!!! :corn: :corn: :hun: :hun: :corn: :hun: :chockiss:

Flamingo is ok , I guess......it is a bird, right?? We can eat that , right?? lol

k- back to work........just doing some stress relief......

FrouFrou 10-17-2005 01:26 PM

Susan~sorry the Circus Circus is booked! :( That would have been a GREAT place for the kids.

Marti~I think 4th of July weekend would be crazy! Vegas is crazy enough but so much busier during hoildays. Gottcha about James getting off. Hopefully James can get off...would love to meet both of you but as Jane mentioned...if he can't maybe you can come alone just for the weekend. :^:

And the Flamingo sounds good to me. Just really need to know soon I think so we can book something. I was wondering if maybe the reason a lot of the places are filling up fast because people are heading there to be there for 4th of July, I don't know. :dunno:

Anyway...I'll keep checking back to see what everyone has to say.

Jane 10-17-2005 01:40 PM

The majority of us have said the last weekend would be ok. Katy said so on another thread. Angie said so on the phone. It's good for Cristi and Susan and myself. Hopefully, since everyone knows so far in advance, it's good for Marti and the others.

Let's book some rooms, ladies!! If you do this on-line, where they have the "comment box", you might want to say that you'd like to be on the same floor as me, so we're all close together. That's what I did when the mods went to Philly and was right down the hall from our fearless leader Jennifer.

WOO HOO!!!

Jane 10-17-2005 02:15 PM

I'm booked!

Hey ladies, I couldn't get a mini-suite online, so I called the hotel and got one. The room prices were the same by calling the hotel as they were at Expedia, btw. I asked about the JLs getting a group rate, but they aren't available for numbers less than 11 rooms. Which leaves us out. The room cost is refundable in case something happens, up to 2 days before check-in, which is good.

Here's a link for anyone who needs it:
http://www.caesars.com/Flamingo/LasVegas/Hotel/

Edited to add: Neal decided he wants to go with me, so I upgraded to a Royal Suite. It has a living room, dining room, powder room, and then a bedroom with a private bath. The other suite had no door on the bedroom, which would've been bad if Neal wanted to go to sleep before we gals do. Just so you'll know, he won't be with us all the time - we'll still have plenty of "Jaded" time, lol.

Mom2Gaby 10-17-2005 05:05 PM

When you say last weekend of June you mean June 25th and June 26th? Just want to clarify before I reserve a room. Thanks - love the link :) you are like our mother - lol :)

Jane 10-17-2005 05:15 PM

Susan - Neal and I'll be getting there June 23, which is a Friday, and staying Friday and Sat, and leaving on Sunday. I like the link, too! Will you be sharing a room with Angie?

RosieKate 10-17-2005 05:22 PM

DH and I are looking at coming out the 23rd-25th - that's Fri- Sun..most likely the Flamingo, but haven't booked that yet.

Mom2Gaby 10-17-2005 05:37 PM

ohhhhhh, I guess I should look at a June 2006 calie - that might help. I swear, I am so blonde today!!!!! no offense.....to blondes. lol

Share a room with Angie - geez Ma....do I have too?? She snores, I remember from the last time she was here. lol jk......

btw- Angie - where did you sleep?? I think I gave you my bed and I slept on the girls bunk bed. Don't remember - and we spent 1 night at my fathers???
I wish I could remember these things - must be hungry.

Anyway, I thought Angie was bring Monte? I will bring at least the older girls and maybe Gaby- so no......lol to your answer.

da fat n da furious 10-17-2005 08:46 PM

Susan,,,Ill dump Monte and you dump the girls and lets party! We could share a room...
Chances of Monte getting time off is slim...so come on,,,let the girls go to Doug's.
If I can get Becky to join us we could be the wild and crazy jaded ladies.

Vegas never closes down...we could go all night!

Katiecat 10-17-2005 11:23 PM

We've gotta wait...Tim and I work in two different call centers, and trying to get the same time off takes some maneuvering. And I already put in my first vacation request (for Spring Break, since we promised to take Noah to Disneyland in April), so now I have to wait until they will let me put in my second round request. And July 3rd is already full on the calendar (that's Tim's birthday) with just the people who have more seniority than me :( So the best I can do is the waiting list for that Monday. Hopefully, the week before at the end of June will still be open when my second round choice comes up. And Tim can't even request the time until DECEMBER!!! Ugh, I hate call centers.

So, we'll just have to wait and see...and I'll let you know as soon as I can. Hopefully, the Flamingo will have rooms available for that weekend.

da fat n da furious 10-17-2005 11:35 PM

Katie, oh Sweety do I ever know how you feel,,,infact both Becky and I know how you feel. We work in the call centre enviroment also..CC I lost one week of my holidays cause of short staffing. And with both of us coming (fingers crossed) we will be trying to squeeze something out. Possibly getting Friday off and then flying home Sunday for Monday,,,Mondays are our insane day.
Becky will be joining us eventually,,,just went saw her at work. She works part time at Penninington's still. Hopefully she will be quitting soon cause a full time position at work came up. I did a lil (who am I kidding) shopping spree. Bought 3 sweaters,,,oops 4 sweaters. 2 pairs of pants, 2 tanks, and a skirt. Then walked over to another store and bought another funky wine colored sweater.
Went over to Walmart too to buy ribbon,,Momma Chris knitted me another scarf. Baby pink so I plan to sew tiny white bows along the bottom,,,
Anyways at Walmart I saw so many cute things...I should work part time there just to get some extra cash and the discount. But Ive become stingy with my time. I like not having much to do at night...well except for Tue/Wed/and Thurs..lol
well Im gonna go finish knitting a scarf too...

Jane 10-18-2005 11:49 AM

Katy - I sure hope you and DH will be staying at the Flamingo, too. Just for the record, we won't really be all THAT wild at the pajama party, in case you're worried that we'll get you into trouble, ok?

Susan - Angie's idea sounds great! If you left the girls at home, you could room with her (and hopefully Becky) which would be a whole lot cheaper for the room, food, etc. Just my 2¢, sweetie.

Katie - the rooms really do book fast, from what I understand. The first night's fee is due upon booking, but totally refundable anytime before 48 hours of arrival. You could always book it now then cancel later if you have to. I'm really hoping you can go, though.

Angie - your excitement is contagious! And the thing is, time goes so fast, the trip will be here before we know it.

Cristi and Marti and the others - are you guys on board?

I'm not booking our airline seats quite yet. Going to keep an eye on the rates for a while and see what the trend is. Neal wants us to leave from Evansville instead of Indy, and thinks there's a non-stop available. That would save us time and $$ too.

Mom2Gaby 10-18-2005 03:50 PM

I know but I went to Hawaii without them and they would be hurt if I took off again to have fun. I will see or I have to promise them something instead - like Disneyland......... :dunno: :dunno:

Jane 10-19-2005 08:43 AM

Susan - how about if you spend a day at an amusement park with them before the Vegas trip? Or something fun like that? Also, you can explain to them that as an adult, you've worked hard to earn this vacation. Paid your dues, so to speak. I know it's hard to leave them, but they have their whole lives to have fun, and I bet they won't include you everytime, right? Tell them that when they get to be your age, they can go and leave their kids at home, lol. I'm just trying to come up with a way for you to go that's affordable. What would the cost of airfare be for all 4 of you? And the room would be $160 per night for a standard room, or you could pay 1/3 of that if you bunk with Angie and Becky. I'm just afraid you won't be able to come if you have to pay for 4 of everything, and I really, really want to meet you!

FrouFrou 10-19-2005 01:23 PM

I'm on board Jane, sort of...I will book in a couple of weeks or a month or so. I have been looking at a couple of places though. The New York New York caught my eye and the price isn't much more than the Flamingo so I may go that route, not sure yet. :dunno: I'll be staying there a little longer, probably Wednesday thru Sunday so...I'm going to do some more looking at the Vegas.com site later, and talking to V some more. I'll let ya know when I've booked something.

da fat n da furious 10-20-2005 12:58 AM

NEw York New York Is a cool hotel...I played in the arcade game room for hours once...still laugh about that. There was this bike you had to ride,,simulator thingy..anyways watching the screen you had to pedal faster or slower...well I seemed to have hit the hard one so I was pedalling as fast as I could...laughing and screaming the whole time...and well sweating like a pig. I stop get off almost did the Bridget Jones thing..and see that I have a crowd of about 30 people all around me...watching. Monte had taken off way long time ago,,,so embarrassed,,I say he denies saying he had found another game. So after 2 hours there and about 40 bucks,,,I won a sipper cup. Monte spent just as much and won a t-shirt..

Jane 10-20-2005 09:49 AM

Cristi - I booked at the Flaminco only because you and others said it sounded good to you. Wouldn't it be a lot more convenient if we're all at the same hotel? Monday you mentioned that we should book soon before everything fills up for July 4th, so that's why I did.

Katiecat 10-20-2005 10:22 AM

I'm totally fine with the Flamingo...it looks like a very nice hotel! Wildlife habitat and waterfalls, tropical theme, 2nd City Comedy Club, and a monorail to the other hotels on the strip. I think there will be more than enough to keep us busy! And I agree it would be more convenient if we are all in the same place. I'm just stuck waiting to see if I can even get the time off work :hyper: If I can, I'm thinking Wed or Thurs night thru Sunday morning. Looks like Monday July 3rd is completely booked solid on the calendar, so even on the wait list, I'm not likely to get that day -- everybody with seniority wants a 4 day weekend for the 4th of July.

Jane 10-20-2005 10:41 AM

Mary Kate - you realize we're talking about the weekend of June 23-25, don't you? I agree, it seems this hotel has lots to offer.

Mom2Gaby 10-20-2005 11:54 AM

You guys are totally cracking me up with hotels and dates.

If we make it to the same town (Portland, right??? jk) on the same date (Ground Hog day??? kidding) and the same hotel (Enchanted Evening Where Your Dreams Come True *WINK* - jk again) we will be blessed - lol

Just meeting you all will be great so anything beyond that is .........uuuuuuuummmmm whip cream on a chocolate mousse upside down pumkin pie cake...with a HUGE cherry on top......and lots of hot fudge dripping down the side right into my mouth....... :hungry: :hungry:

FrouFrou 10-20-2005 02:59 PM

Angie~I am picturing you on the bike! LOL Bet it was fun!

Jane~I didn't think me looking into another place would be a big deal considering you are just wanting to get together for one day. But I guess I will stick with the Flamingo to not stir things up. I suppose I can just walk over to the New York New York. And I did say we should book soon, but didn't tell anyone to do it. I should have clarified what I meant by soon. My soon means soon...maybe 4 or 5 months before June, possibly in January. I don't know-don't really have a time table as to what I meant by soon but didn't mean like tomorrow or next week, just a ways before June. Guess next time I open my big mouth I should clarify exactly what I mean. I will probably book before December though. Just so you don't think that I am going to back out...I assure you I AM going to Vegas regardless of what happens and who goes or if no one goes, I will be there. Okay, not sure if that came out right or not. I do care if no one goes because that is the whole point of this get-together...for all of us to get-together/meet. It wouldn't be the same if everyone doesn't go. I'm going to quit talking/typing now because I think I keep sticking my foot in my mouth. :foot: :foot: :foot: :foot:

Has anyone else booked a room at the Flamingo yet? Just curious

Susan~you are making me hungry! That would be quite the desert minus the hot fudge-don't like hot fudge! :T

Mom2Gaby 10-20-2005 04:06 PM

lmao..........I love how you are explaining "soon" Cristi - so cute! Doesn't that dessert sound yummy?? I think I gained a pound just writing it - lol

later :)

RosieKate 10-20-2005 04:10 PM

Hi all -
We are going to stay at the Flamingo; David wants to call to book it - wants to hit them up for a donation to Leigh's preschool auction. As of this morning, he hadn't done it, but he will soon, I'm sure.
We are going for a 20 year anniversary, so we will be there regardless of whether anyone else can come or not. It will be so fun to see you all IRL. Can't believe I gotta go to Vegas to see Susan -who probably lives less than a mile from me, lol!

Mom2Gaby 10-20-2005 04:15 PM

Hi Katy -

I am at the village Starbucks most mornings at 6:30 am getting my venti - if you ever wanna meet up. Gaby goes to the events at the center every day but my ex takes her. Just so busy - though I have been lucky enough to meet you and Angie already. :)

FrouFrou 10-20-2005 06:40 PM

And I'm back again!!! LOL Just can't stay away :p

Susan~I used to be so anal about things until DH#1 was killed. I learned there were more important things in life than have a spotless house, a schedule etc. I know for the most part you have to have a schedule but...I just kind of take things as they come and do whatever. If you knew me then you would probably have said "What happened!" Anyway, next time I will clarify when I say soon. LOL And yes that sounds sooooo good! I'm dooling...

Katy~such a nice anniversary get away. Are you guys going to get the honeymoon suite?!

Anyway, the reason I am back is to say "I BOOKED!!!" I booked for Wed. June 21-Sunday the 25th for me and Carrie. And I did comment that I wanted to be on the same floor as you Jane. This should be fun, fun, fun! Strictly a girls get away. Now to decide if I want to drive or fly. :chin: Although, it would have been nice for V to come. Maybe for our 10th anniversary. Don't really want to do an anniversary there though because that's where I got married the first time-at The Hitching Post Chapel-ick! At 3 a.m.! It was GREAT though and sort of our place. Anyway, blah, blah, blah....need to go and get dinner started in a few.
