Hi ladies,

Wow, what a weekend. We took Joycelyn up north again this weekend, and although the weather wasn't the greatest, we still had fun. I go lots of walking in, while Jerry pressure washed our deck.

I have some news.

But first some history.

I have had a weight problem all my adult life. My mother is convinced that a lot of it has to do with my metabolism, and my thyroid. I have been on medication in the past for my thyroid, and the last couple of times I have had it tested it has come back borderline hypo, but not enough (according to my doctor) to warrant medication. Just enough to make it very difficult for me to lose weight.

I have mentioned before that I have tried just about everything to lose weight, and have only failed. Only one diet program ever worked for me, and when I was on it I lost almost 60 pounds and kept it off for 3 years. (Then I got Pregnant) and gained it all back, plus 15 pounds. This time around I decided that I would go the diet and exercise route again, because I couldn't afford the diet that helped me lose the weight before ($$$$$$)

Well, have been busting my *** since February, and have been watching what I eat and to date I have lost 5 pounds. I continue to work out as much as I can and I am really careful about what I eat.

I am becoming quite discouraged. I really have to wonder if there is something physiologically wrong with me cause this just does not seem to be working. Yet I still continue to plug away at it.

This has not gone unnoticed by my husband. He told me that he thinks that I should go back to the diet doctor. I told him that I could not possibly afford it, and he told me that he had money saved and that he would pay for it.

BLOWN AWAY!!!!!

He told me that he knows how hard I am working and that he knows how miserable I am with a closetful of clothes that don't fit, and said, that even though it was expensive, that he would pay for it because he knows it will make me happy.

Awwwwwwwwwww..

Now, don't get me wrong. I am definitely NOT taking the easy way out. This particular diet is extremely strict in the weight loss phase. There are only vegetables, fruits, very lean proteins and 2 servings of Breads allowed per day. I have to go into the doctors office 3x per week for Vitamin B6/B12 shots. I have to follow the program without deviation. I have to meet with the doctor/nurses for blood tests, and am constantly monitored.

I will lose weight quickly. The program guarantees a minimum weight loss of 10 pounds per month, most likely more though. Once I have reached my goal weight, they start adding back foods and monitoring me to see the effect they have on my weight. For example, They start by giving back lets say potatos. Then we monitor to see how they affect my weight if I have say potatoes 2 times a week and there is no weight gain then they increase it to 3 times a week and if there is a weight gain then I know that I need to be careful with potatoes.

In the strict phase there are no potatoes, regular bread, peas carrots, corn rice, or pasta. All this gets added back once on maintenence.

In total, I should be done with my weight loss in about 4- 5 months. I'm not kidding myself either. It WILL be HARD at times, but OH SO WORTH IT.

If you read all that. Thanks. I will really be coming on here a lot more because I know that I am going to need the extra support, and I know that y'all will be there for me.

I start on Monday.

SUSAN OH my GOD! Sweetie, what an ordeal. WTG for sticking up for you and Gaby. Mike seriously needs help. Thank good ness you had the presence of mind to call 911. God knows what else may have transpired.

ANGIE You sure are one gorgeaous lady. Thanks for sharing the pictures. It's nice to put a face to the name.

TTFN everyone. Lunch break is over. and the phones are ringing like crazy.

will post more later.

Good evening. Hope you all had a great day. It was sunny and warm here today and we had to turn the A/C back on. I did laundry, again...seems like a daily task and way too much for 2 people. I guess we are TOO clean. lol.
I picked the "grands" up at summer school and took the girls to bible school..DD was teaching music and they were going to help serve snacks to the little ones. DGS passed on bible school and spent the time here with us. Later I took him home and went to buy some produce for the week. I was out of salad fixings and also found some yummy cantaloupe. (not Indiana yet, but it was good)
We don't have much planned for the week, do any of you have anything exciting going on?

Anita- What is the program you are going to be doing? What I mean, is there a name for it? Sounds like a good deal if you eat healthy and get monitored. Very considerate of DH.

Ellen- I sent you a hug, but now I am sending you another. I hope your son and his girlfriend are doing okay. Hugs to them also.

Jane- I forgot to watch Into the West. I thought it looked like it was going to be good. It would be a welcome change to all the re-runs.

Managed to get in a walk tonight after the sun went down. I swear I am walking and exercising and the weight is not going anywhere...1 pound last week. I am hoping for 2 this week and will ramp up the walking now that my neighbor friend is home again. She and I walk faster and longer than DH wants to.

Have a good week to all the JL's.

Ellen, hugs sweetie.

Susan, Im glad you are standing up for yourself.

Cristi, oh how nice to be able to sit back and know you put in your hours for a wonderful looking back yard. So how was the movie?

Sue,,,I laughed about your DH and his new lil buddy. We had this lil boy who lived a few houses down the street who would come over to hang out with Brandon,,,who was 15 yrs old, the kid was 3-4 They would sit and watch SpongBob square pants...and eat Mr. Freezies...lol

Jane, I just felt so bad for you sister and niece...how hard it had to have been,,,and will continue to be hard.

Anita, Ive heard of that program...and heard the good results,,,hard to do but worth it if you can follow through.

Terry, I could of filled a swimming pool with all the rain we have had.

Infact a state of emergency was issued...many towns of been flooded,,,1,500 houses had to be evacuated actually not far from our house but cause we are on higher ground we are ok. There is water ban,,,,huge fines if caught watering lawns and such...who would water their lawn after all the rain we had? People are being asked to limit showers to 5 minutes, refrain from doing laundry.

We are having a grad (Brandon) / birthday (my youngest brother) / anniversary (my parents / new baby (my cousins on Saturday had a baby girl) party. Mom and I went through the menu again tonight and made some changes,,,all for making life ooo so much easier for both of us.

I did a lil shopping the other day and bought the cutest shirt,,,funky blue with sequins, and a funky halter top,,,in orange and purple,,,I know with them colors its gotta be funky,,,,lol Talking funky Tanners hair is purty wild.
So far having a good day,,,period finally stopped,,,16 days is a bit much. 9 days and I see the specialist again...just take it all!

Have done another library run and got 2 more books from Susan Elizabeth Phillips,,,Fancy Pants and (can't quite remember) Where the heart is? Finished them and have gotten 2 more...savoring them...lol What a great time to break a foot,,,can sit and read and no one complains....lol And with the water ban can't clean...lol I am so seeing everything on the bright side...lol
well I should get to bed...
night all

hi ladies,

Just a quick pop in to answer your questions about the diet I am going to be doing.

It's the Dr. Bernstein Plan. It has been pretty controversial and some people really don't like it. But for me it's the only thing that ever worked. You really need to be of the right mindset. That's why I am reading Dr. Phil's book again too.

Here's a link with more information. As far as I know he only has clinics in canada, though I did hear that he was going to open up a couple of clinics stateside.

www.drbdiet.com

You have to log in but it's a fairly easy process.

Good morning ladies,

Ellen - you first! I'm so very, very sorry for your loss. My Mary's first baby died inside her, and they had to take it out per D&C, and that was so hard!!! I had already gotten to love the little thing, even though Mary was only about 2 months along. I'm here if you need me, sweetie. All the Jaded Ladies are, ok?

Marti - Happy Birthday to Jhanai!! What kind of a bear did she end up making? We have a shop like that in Evansville, called Build a Bear, and the place is always crowded! Did you find any good bargains in the mall? Summer stuff is on sale everywhere, and I have to admit I picked up a few more things yesterday.

Anita - I also was wondering if this new diet plan has a name? Don't you get any dairy products? Yes, please come here for support. I still do, lol. Read the Maintainers pages for inspiration, too, when you have time. I don't post there, since I never did make goal, and am still too fat! It seems hard, or too time consuming, for us to post at a weight loss thread, so maybe we should just try and talk more about it in this chit chat thread.

Sue - one pound is fine, hon. Especially at your weight range. Don't you just love spending time with the grandkids? What did we ever do w/o them???

Susan - I hope you and your lawyer have a good talk. Actually, I hope you do the talking and he does the listening! Want me to come out there and straighten him out??? lol

Angie - thank God you're on high ground and didn't get flooded! Glad your other flooding problem has stopped. Do you think you'll be getting a D&C or a hysterectomy? A party, huh? What time should I be there?? Sounds like a whole lot of fun, and a great way to get lots of events celebrated at the same time.

Katy - hiya! I forget which weight loss program you ended up with? Whatever it is, how's it going now that the birthday and anniversary is over?

Well, ladies, since I haven't been doing my Gazelle or treadmill, I can really tell a (bad) difference in myself. I took my measurements, and sure enough, they're up a little! Not much, but I want to nip it in the bud before it becomes a problem. I truly thought I could get enough exercise outdoors, but it hasn't happened! My promise to myself is to put the Gazelle back out and do it Monday through Friday. I like how a person can really work out their arms on that thing, too. And how you stand determines which leg muscles get the better workout. I wish I had a place for a treadmill, my favorite, but alas, I just don't.

What are your plans for the day?

HI Ladies~

(((((Ellen)))))~My heart goes out to your son and his girlfriend.

Marti~a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MISS JHANAI!!!!

Angie~a 5 minute shower?!!! Yikes!!! I've taken some fast showers before but never in 5 mns. And no laundry?! Well, that would be nice...until I had to find something to wear. The movie was okay, not as funny as I thought it would be but there were funny parts. What fun to be celebrating so many special days in one event/party! Don't get stressed over it though.

Katy~hope the guys loved the Spruce Goose. We got pictures of it when they were moving it from storage to the location in Long Beach years ago. Also went to see it when it was finally ready, pretty cool museum-the one in Long Beach. Plus it was by the Queen Mary which I always loved going on.

Jane~as soon as I get the pictures developed I will post one of my new do. Meant to take a pic when I first had it done because she fixed it different, not how I wanted, but it looked nice.

Sue~that is sooo cute...about the little guy. I miss the times when the kids played, so much fun. Even now once in a while V and I will go catch some little guys playing, they are so funny and so cute! I too have been wanting a smooth serface stove and a refridge with the freezer at the bottom. Just right now the house came with new appliances (except for the fridge, which we bought about 3 years ago) and even though DH wanted to get them when we moved here, we really didn't need them. I have seen a fridge though that is a side by side on the top with the freezer on the bottom-that would be great. Has the water and ice on the door which is something we need to keep everyone from opening and closing the freezer so much.

Anita~that is considerate of you hubby, but what crossed my mind at first was, why he had money saved that you didn't know about! LOL Anyway, I thought about going to a weight loss clinic here but decided against it because it is a liquid diet. I would love to lose the weight fast, but they say that the faster you lose the weight the more likely you are to gain it back. And I wouldn't be able to live on a liquid diet forever.

Terri~a swimming pool sounds like a lot of fun!

Well, Hi to everyone else

I really need to get going and get outside to work on the deck before it gets too hot. Did finish the fence Sunday. I seem to be on a roll with this staining and am actually enjoying it, soooo....I am staining the lattice around the bottom of the deck and then will do the deck. Then we will put a second coat on the outside of the fence. I will have DS help me with that. Won't have to do it for 3 or 5 years-never did find out if it was 3 or 5, I'm hoping 5! But for some reason thinking 3, which is good. Told DH he will do it the next time. Anyway, take care ladies and have a good day!

CRISTI!

To answer your question. I actually do know about all his saved money. Jerry and I have always has separate bank accounts and one joint account. It just works better for us that way. He has always been more of a saver than me. I'm of the mind that $$$ is there for spending. Probably just as well, or we'd have no money at all.

lol
