Wooo Hooooo Gwena! Great Job :cp: I see you changed your avator. I liked the celtic one also!
I am going to go to the show tonight. I'll just try and stay as long as I can. Another problem is I'm diabetic and they don't sell any food there.. unless you consider beer a food. Happy New Year everyone! |
Well I think my husband would consider beer as food. :D
I hope you have a great time Val! I haven't added my flowers yet. For some reason I feel like it wasn't an actual victory b/c it was mostly water weight. Yes, I'm goofy. :dizzy: I'm making arroz con pollo for supper (well I'm actually winging it) and the chicken in the crock pot smells so good! :D |
Fantastic job Gwena. Who cares if it's water weight. Weight is weight.
Angel--sorry about the MIL issues. I wish we had a whole foods here. The store I shop at most of the time has a decent organic section but not as nice as whole foods. I got the Sonoma Diet today and read the majority of it. It's pretty good. No scientific hogwash in this one. It's sort of a cross between southbeach and schwarzbein for those of you who have read those books. It has the structure Southbeach lacks, but I kept thinking about the Schwarzbein square as I was reading the book. It definately restricts saturated fat and allows alcohol which is different from Dr. Schwarzbein's philosophy but the proportions and kinds of foods are quite similar to her plan. I think it is a plan that even a low carber could like. The basic "get back to nature" philosophy that is at the core of most low carb diets is also at the core of this one too although she doesn't promote eating organic as much as a lot of the low carb authors do. I think the author would even label it low glycemic although she tries to avoid those kinds of labels in the book. My only criticisms are that she says you don't have to weigh and measure and you clearly do have to at least measure some things. Not a big deal--I think anyone who tries to lose weight should be prepared to do that, she should just be honest about it. Yes, you will have to measure some of your food. The other is that she has little testamonial blurbs in the book and none of them were people who had lost what I would call "substantial" amounts of weight (>50 lbs.) which might give some people the impression that this is not a diet for the seriously overweight. In fact, I don't think there were any over 30 lbs. |
I would like to join your group. :D I found this site ealier in the week when I did a search. I do not even remember what I was searching for now. :dizzy: I would like to introduce myself. I am 35yo, I have 3 children a son 12yo, another son 9yo, and a daughter who is 7yo. I have been married for 14 years. I work full time as an accountant and my husband is a truck driver. I also started an online school in hopes of earning an MBA. :?:
I have been trying to lose weight forever. My biggest problem is a do really well and then just get bored and stop? I am energized and excited and hope with the New Year comes a new me. :D I have been OP for two days (I know not long but a start) I belong to a gym called Circuit Works, it is just like curves. I have to say my contract includes a clause about if the gym closes, so I should not get taken like I read a few of you have, course mine is also month by month. |
