  • Kim, if your going to post a new hunk soon, i think we should give this honey baby a name. To me, he looks like a Scott. Also, i think he should have a slight british accent. What do you think ladies?
  • Sounds yummy to me Gloria Scott sounds about right!

    Love,
    Deanne
  • I am sooo sick and tired of people trying to sell me stuff. Just when i sat down here at my computer this morning, the phone rings and it was someone trying to sell me something. Years ago i was polite and would tell the person i was not interested and hang up. Now, because i get so many of these annoying calls i just lay the phone down next to its receiver and let the person talk away. After a couple of minutes, i hear "Mrs........ are you still there? I figure if there going to wast my time, then i have the same right in wasting there's. I'm even getting people knocking on my door wanting me to buy or try there product. Grrrrr. Enough already.

I have three more days and a wake up before we head for the mountains in upper Georgia. Still have packing and cleaning before then but don't know where to start. Man i hope we have good weather when were up there. Last night and this morning the sky is all dark and it looks like it might just rain all day. My tomato plant was all happy happy happy when i went out to check on it and, yippee skippy, there are three tomatoes almost red and ready for that B.L.T sandwich. I wonder why my plants grow better after the rain then when i just water them?

Have to get my hair cut today before our trip so better go.
    Have a great wednesday everyone.
    Hugs to all.

  • Greetings from Glasgow, KY
I was just browsing and happened upon your thread. Cool beans, as my DD would say. I spent the first 11 years of my life in Ohio so I still have a few "you guys" and "pop" that find their way out my mouth but for the most part, I'm a true southern girl. KY is definitely home! The only thing I would change about KY would be it's high pollen count (Lexington, KY is the Allergy Capital of the USA-I heard on the radio today-some mindless trivia for ya) UGH and the crazy weather. They always say if you don't like the weather in KY just stick around-it will be totally different in a few minutes!

Anyway, hope ya'll won't mind me joining your group. What am I talking about: of course you won't mind-you're southern ladies and that southern hospitality will shine through!

Someone here was talking about stereotypes that southerners have to put up with. My sister got on to me a while back about correcting my DD's grammar (I have two DD's-Karen-16, Ashley Rachelle-13). I said, listen, they are already going to be fighting stereotypes when they get into the real world: 1) they're women 2) they're southern women. They will have proper grammar. She said-well you can't do anything about those accents. I said why would I want to?

    Have a great day! TTYL.
  • smiling dog
Faye-forgot to tell you that we used to have a little terrier mix dog that would smile for you! This was when Jimmy Carter was President. We'd say, smile like President Carter and I swear that dog would pull back those lips of his, show some teeth and smile! I totally believe your cat talks to you!
  • Welcome skinny, cool user name!
I've actually seen a dog try to smile and its hilarious. I have five dogs but the only thing two of them can do is setup and role over. All of them have mastered sleeping and eating very well.

Have any of y'all seen the show "Homes across America? In case you haven't seen the it, its all about these huge gigantic homes that people have remodeled. Well i was wondering what they would say if my house was on that show. Probably something like "And here's Gloria's tiny little living room with the huge overstuffed furniture that there's no room for. And how about that kitchen. Doesn't that pantry look nice crammed jammed full of stuff you cant find anything without having something fall on your head. I worked for Goodwill for seven years so you can just imagine all the treasures i have.

I just couldn't wait any longer for that dang tomato to get red red so i picked it and ate the darn thing all by myself. It was wonderful! Do any of you eat cottage cheese and tomatoes? Don't really care for cottage cheese, but with my own home grown tomatoes, yummy'o.

Should start thinking about supper so best scoot for now.
    Have a good one.

  • Give the boy a name? You talking about the one in my avitar? LOL he already has a name, it's Orlando! And he is British. I'm going to be changing my avitar in a few days. So be on the lookout.
  • OH Gloria, where 'bouts in GA are you going? I live near mountains.
  • Kim, we are heading for Blarsville GA. Ever heard of it? You know where NC comes down to a point and connects with GA? Well, if you were to spit while in Blarsville GA, it would cross into North Carolina. Ever heard of Murphy NC. Were about 45 min. from Murphy and the new WalMart.

I hope you don't wait to long to put up the new hunk of the week. We leave Saturday morning and I'd like to get a gander at the new honey.

  • Welcome skinny butt! I love the name! Here in Mississippi (I am just south of Memphis) the allergies are killer too. My son takes allergy shots and I took them for 5 years. I still have them! I feel for you, cause I know how you feel! Our weather here is just crazy. It has been so cool the last couple days.

I am leaving Friday to go visit an old high school friend in Atlanta. My best friend is going with me. We will come home on Sunday so it will be a short trip. I am looking forward to a girls weekend though.

Kim, I am anxiously awaiting the next avatar. Thanks for giving us something fun to look at!

Faye, I hope you find a sitter for your pets. What area do you live in? We use to live in Hickory Hill till it was annexed. That is when we moved here. My parents live in Highland Heights off summer. They have been there forever and won't move. It is not safe there, but it doesn't seem to bother them.

    Talk later!
  • Oh, for those of you with allergies......most of you may already know this but just in case, there is a website that tells you the pollen count for where you are. Lets you know if it is high or low and what it will be for the next few days. It is at pollen.com. I check it out on a regular basis during this time of year. It also lists the active pollen in your area.
  • Yes I know where Blairsville is and I know where Murphy NC is. My DH is a truck driver

We go to Blairsville every other weekend, or so. It's very nice there. Have a great time. I will change my hunk tomorrow - I'm still not feeling well and really need to take some meds and crawl back into bed.
  • Fay, I forgot to thank you yesterday for the info on the "stop calling me cause I'm not interested" website. We just got a cell phone to use (only) when were on vacation. Because our house in GA. doesn't have a land line phone and we cant see spending the money on one when will only be there five weeks out of the year. Carl is a U.P.S. driver and gets five weeks paid vacation a year.

Kim, it sounds like your near upper GA. What is the weather like there now? I'm not sure if i should bring warm or cool weather clothes. The nights have been nippy down here in Florida, good sleeping weather, but come the middle of the day i have to change into shorts. When i worked for Goodwill i was able to get a butt load of clothes so am able to keep some of them up there year around. Just don't know if i should take the extra warm stuff along with me this trip.
I hope you get to feeling better soon. Have you seen a doctor yet? It seems like you've been sick for a couple of days now.

Still have lots to do before we go so will say so long for now. I hope i will be able to post a couple more times before saturday morning, but if i cant will talk to y'all when i get back.

  • Morning girlies, rain rain go away and come again.......October!

O2: If you lived in Hickory Hill, I bet you know right where we live. We actually live in Fox Meadows, but most people say Hickory Hill. Do you know where the Showboat BBQ is on Hickory Hill at Knight Arnold? We basically live 1/2 block from there in the Heritage Trail Condominiums. It is torture in the summer as I do an hour of pool work everyday and they crank up the smoking and grilling of pork around 9 AM. You walk outside our home and all you smell is BBQ! It is heaven but awful too, you know?

Gloria: We had a friend who was an over the road driver from UPS from here in Memphis and last I heard he still drives for them. We also have very close friends and the dh drives the brown truck for them and has for like 18 years so I know he gets scads of vacation every year. You should see this man. I met his wife when I worked at the law firm in Indiana. She is a legal secretary and he delivered to our firm. He is totally gorgeous. It is a feat to give him a hug when we see them. He is almost 7 foot tall!!

Kim: Sorry, Orlando doesn't fit, he needs to go back to Scott! Boy, that name seems to have popped up a lot over the last 5 years or so with the under 30 guys. I had never heard of Orlando and there are a bunch of actors named Orlando now.

I think Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) and George Eads (CSI) are both cute as bugs' ears. I am prejudiced because those are my two favorite shows, but they are cute though young young young.

There are some "old" guys that have aged gracefully I think too. James Darren, who is in his 60's is still gorgeous! I remember him in Gidget and brother he is one handsome hunk. Mark Harmon is nice looking, though it is hard to tell because in NCIS he scowls all the time! Though he is not old, David James Elliot is one Navy pilot I would have liked to fly with! I have to tell you a story about that. When my son was in Cub scouts, our cub scout pack was made up totally of Navy kids. There was an occacion when ALL the dads were gone at the same time and I ended up being the scoutmaster for a time. The pilots at NAS Oceana in Va Beach sponsored our cub pack so I would have to work with them all the time. Back then I was about the same age as they were and YUMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEE! There wasn't an ugly one in the bunch. There is one thing that is dead on about Navy pilots. They are an arrogant little lot! These guys were so very nice and helpful, but totally full of themselves! I remember thinking how difficult it must be sleeping with a guy whose head was so big it took up the whole bed!!!

Well, I am stalling and not getting chores done.
