Looks like many of you got out there to ride this weekend.....YAY! We did too!
It was my Birthday Weekend and we rode to the west coast of Florida to a little town called Homosassa Springs. Rented a riverside bungalow along the Homosassa River...rented a boat Saturday afternoon and saw FIFTEEN Manatee! It was really a great time with 2 other couples....and easy way to bring in the Big 5-6!!
Now down to the business of getting the fat off. Had to get through the birthday to get n the right mind-set, but I think I'm there.
Oh Holly....I so hope you're at the 164 goal!!! You're inspiring me, Girl!!!! You're Curves-Crazy!
And yes, SuG...tell us about the training you have going on!
Harley...glad that snow went right by you....It did go to my daughter's in NW Wyoming tho! She's about sick of it too, and her kiddies are more than ready to be outside diggin' and playin' in the yard all day
Where's everyone else??? Must be a busy time of year for lots of us!
I got my confirmation for the endorsement class I'm taking this summer so now I need to get to the drivers license bureau and get my temp instructional permit so I can ride when I'm in MI. The weather has been nice enough for my friend Matthew w/ a sportster that he's been taking me for rides. I'm so anxious to get my own bike and not have to rely on others. My plan is to be in the 160's by time I go to MI this summer so I'll be able to gank leathers from my mom and sisters to save me the expense while I'm learning.
Anyway... I've got 5th graders who want my attention.
LOL! You and me, Vermont! We're both about 164, right? Let's race!
Yup, hubby and I both compete. You're going to think we are crazy, but we do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qlam_3UN750
(music's kind of loud, so turn down your volume...)
I got my friend out on the back of my bike yesterday. She hadn't been on any bike before, so I took her ery slowly around the block, telling her how to lean back or down when going around corners and getting her used to it. Then we went to the local walmart about 5 min away doing about 35. She was so into it that I took her for ice cream through the back roads doing about 55-60.
She wants her own bike now.
Oh yeah, we left the guys home with all the kids... ROFL!!! They weren't happy that we left for almost 2 hours.
SuG - wow! What does SCA stand for? again, wow! you make your own costumes, chain mail, etc?
and kewl that you gave your friend a ride that has her now hooked on bikes Do you feel comfortable (well, you must) giving rides...I don't yet, think I just need to do it more? I've only had my son on back, and since he weighs more than me, I think that's what makes it weird and off-balance.
well, my doofus mechanic says that we agreed to leave my bike there for TWO days....I THINK NOT! I wouldn't have agreed to that. Anyway, I have to do without her for two days I miss her. Aren't I a sap
I'm so sick of my winter job (retail). Customers stink! well, some of them. Alot of them. grrrr. But some are nice. I'm just rambling now
Jill - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! what a nice way you celebrated. You're the youngest and hottest 5-6 that I know
haeyu, congrats on getting the confirmation for your endorsement test. You doing the Friday/Sat./Sun. thing sponsored by the MSF?
Hi TeresaR! Hi HarleyMom! Hi Gina, 2frust, and Rebel! and STARR
I feel like the long lost soul. I read everybodys post but I am bound to miss something. Sorry if I do.
Happy Birthday to Jill!!!!
My bike is a '97 Yamaha Virago XV750 Vermont.
Baseball, soccer and softball seasons are in swing here so I am always at a practice or playing field somewhere. Makes it tough to keep up here. I had a lousy weekend and just let myself take the time off. I was back on track today and even made it to the gym at lunch to talk to the elliptical machine, (ouch) I also didn't get to the gym as much last week as I wanted but I am making a point of taking my lunch breaks and getting there this week. I am also going to be down this weekend with the last of my oral surgery but at least the top of my mouth will finally be fixed.
I haven't gotten to ride. If it hasn't been something with the kids, then it has been the weather. Mostly the wind but they are calling for severe storms with the chance of tornados around here. Oh well, that is Oklahoma for you.
I have found a motorcycle cop that is going to try to help teach me to ride. I take the MSF class (for the second time) the end of May. My private instructor (the one I pay for) has gotten hurt so now even my private lessons are on hold.
Everyone have a great week and just remember we can all do this.
TeresaR- Yeah, but it was worth it, and they didn't complain to loudly (They DO have to live with us, after all! hee hee!)
Vermont-It's called the Society for Creative Anachronism. There's a lot of videos on youtube if you type in "SCA fight". We make all of our own things or you can buy them (you know which is cheaper).
Giving rides is definitely something you need to practice at. you mostly need to be able to tell the rider what you need them to do/not do. As long as they concentrate on keeping their center of gravity as low as possible, and not leaning the wrong way for a turn, it's actually very easy.
If you can, take your son on lots of very slow rides (1st or 2nd gear). It'll get you used to the extra weight on your engine and telling him what you want him to do. I would totally give him some warning if you are going to turn (lean back/forward- turning left now)
VermontMom, yeah, I'm taking the 3 day class that MSF does. It was the only thing I could do since I have to take it out of state. The only class times I was available for were when I was in MI this summer, and FL honors the classes taught by the MSF even if it's from a different state. I can't wait! I'm going up to get my TIP today after school (I need to replace my lost dl and change my address w/ them anyway, might as well do it all at once).
Hey ALL, wow what a week. We had an awful rain, snow storm yesterday and I have been rescheduling baseball, and lacrosse. It was such a strange storm. I didn't get snow at all about 20 miles away they got 10 inches. It is cleared up today and we will get up to the 70's to 80's this weekend. Yippee time to ride.
I miss you all and will try and post again soon. Take care and Keep on Keep'n on!
I have found a motorcycle cop that is going to try to help teach me to ride.
That is way kewl! They have mad motorcycle skills, they have to. I saw a video of some Japanese motorcops having a skills rodeo - I could not believe the TIGHT small turns they were doing! well, practice makes perfect. Or chasing after bad guys
Got my bike back, oil filter and four quarts of oil; cleaned my air filter, checked other sundries; $154.00 (labor was $55.00/hour). I don't mind paying a pro to take care of her for me.
Rode to work; it was supposed to get sunny at some point but remained overcast and not much over 50. A little chilly but okay.
HarleyMom, I am glad that the snow bypassed you!!
wannabe, sorry I missed you in my greeting
I cautiously happy to say that I think I see a diff in my waist/hips. But it does help that I use the self-tanning bronzers for color (and yes, I do visit the tanning bed occasionally; lecture me if you must ) I think a chubby belly with some color looks better than one that is winter-white, but that's just me...
hi to everyone else and have a great night! keep on keepin on!
Hey guys,
This week has just sucked. The rain has been off and on so I didn't get to ride. Sunday is supposed to be in the high 80's though and clear. I wanna ride then.
I'm having a hard time keeping myself on track. I've only made the gym one day this week so far. Mainly because I hate getting out in the rain. Think I need to get over that one. I'll make myself the promise to make sure I get there tomorrow. Think I need the friendly motivating booty kicking, lol.
Sorry I've been AWOL, but I haven't been getting my notifications again
Anyway...thanks for the Birthday Greetings and I just want to say Great Job to all of you and your successes this week....staying On Your Plans and getting your Temps!!
I've been bad, but I have yet another great excuse! This weekend is our local BikeFest...and I tell ya....of all the Bike Events we've been to, this one is one of the very best...and it's right here in my backyard!!! It's a good sized rally with TONS of bikes in from everywhere....loads of vendors, bands and of course, FOOD. It's extremely organized and very well thought out. Chicks....you guys really need to put the last week of April 2008 on your calendars and BE HERE!!! Really!
HaeU...did you get up for it? It's still on today (Sunday) if you can come up!
