Where oh where is our sweetie, Ramona????

coles 02-16-2005 12:58 PM

Hello Everyone!
Sherry - Congratulations on your weigh-in, you're headed in the right direction.

Shelley - I will pray for Mikes friend, if we all pray wonderful things can happen.

Gayle - Hope Allison is feeling better today, it is so terrible when our kids are sick. Amanda is 24 and when she's sick I still worry.

Dee- Bet you're having a Ball http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_14.gif http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/28/28_1_16.gif

Debbie - You are one lucky gal with a husband like James. Doug is not the sentimental type at all. Amanda gave me a dozen roses though, 6 red and 6 yellow.

Romona - where are you? You haven't posted for a while.

I know everyone has a busy life and its not always easy to find time to post.
Sherry - The bars are Kelloggs All-Bran Bars they come in original and Honey Nut Flavours - I like them both.
Have a Good Day Everyone

Gayle-You always say the things that make me feel so much better about myself. Thank you. The dr. never says anything about my weight. He never did when I gained 60 lbs back when I was pregnant either. I notice today is weigh in day for you. How did you do? I can't remember what your ticker said before.

Hey, I haven't seen it yet, but a girl from Ft Myers is on American Idol. I think they call her Baby V. She was on last night and is on again tonight. I am going to try to stay awake to watch it.

gdeann 02-16-2005 06:22 PM

I stayed the same...3 weeks in a row, but it's my fault....

Yeah, she is tall and slender and a postal carrier from Ft. Myers. Last night they did a short intro about her. I can't remember right now how she sounded though...

gdeann 02-17-2005 12:14 AM

Shelley, I think your hometown girl made it to the finals tonight. If I am correct, she was the one wearing BRIGHT lime green clothing with matching BRIGHT lime green earrings. :-)

ShelleyM 02-17-2005 04:45 AM

I fell asleep and didn't see it. I am up real early because my throat has been hurting. Becky is just getting over tonsilitis, and now I am starting to feel rotten.

Well, the inspector found nothing wrong with my parent's house. In my mom's own words "they didn't find a damn thing wrong with it." I think they were hoping that they would. Now we need to really start looking.

Gayle-Staying the same is good! At least you didn't gain.

I go into a nursing home once a week now to see a few clients. This poem really rings true, I wanted to share it with you guys.

Crabby Old Woman
>
>
> When an old lady died in the geriatric ward of a small hospital near
> Dundee, Scotland, it was believed that she had nothing left of any value.
> Later, when the nurses were going through her meager
>
> possessions, they found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed
> the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the
> hospital. One nurse took her copy to Ireland.
>
>
>
> The old lady's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the
>
> Christmas edition of the News Magazine of the North Ireland Association
> for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on her
> simple, but eloquent, poem.
>
>
>
> And this little old Scottish lady, with nothing left to give to the world,
> is now the author of this "anonymous" poem winging across the Internet:
>
>
>
> Crabby Old Woman
>
>
>
> What do you see, nurses?
>
> What do you see?
>
> What are you thinking
>
> When you're looking at me?
>
>
>
> A crabby old woman,
>
> Not very wise,
>
> Uncertain of habit,
>
> With faraway eyes?
>
>
>
> Who dribbles her food
>
> And makes no reply
>
> When you say in a loud voice,
>
> "I do wish you'd try!"
>
>
>
> Who seems not to notice
>
> The things that you do,
>
> And forever is losing
>
> A stocking or shoe?
>
>
>
> Who, resisting or not,
>
> Lets you do as you will,
>
> With bathing and feeding,
>
> The long day to fill?
>
>
>
> Is that what you're thinking?
>
> Is that what you see?
>
> Then open your eyes, nurse,
>
> You're not looking at me.
>
>
>
> I'll tell you who I am
>
> As I sit here so still,
>
> As I do at your bidding,
>
> As I eat at your will.
>
>
>
> I'm a small child of ten
>
> With a father and mother,
>
> Brothers and sisters,
>
> Who love one another.
>
>
>
> A young girl of sixteen
>
> With wings on her feet
>
> Dreaming that soon now
>
> A lover she'll meet.
>
>
>
> A bride soon at twenty,
>
> My heart gives a leap,
>
> Remembering the vows
>
> That I promised to keep
>
>
>
> At twenty-five now,
>
> I have young of my own,
>
> Who need me to guide
>
> And a secure happy home.
>
>
>
> A woman of thirty,
>
> My young now grown fast,
>
> Bound to each other
>
> With ties that should last.
>
>
>
> At forty, my young sons
>
> Have grown and are gone,
>
> But my man's beside me
>
> To see I don't mourn.
>
>
>
> At fifty once more,
>
> Babies play round my knee,
>
> Again we know children,
>
> My loved one and me.
>
>
>
> Dark days are upon me,
>
> My husband is dead,
>
> I look at the future,
>
> I shudder with dread.
>
>
>
> For my young are all rearing
>
> Young of their own,
>
> And I think of the years
>
> And the love that I've known.
>
>
>
> I'm now an old woman
>
> And nature is cruel;
>
> 'Tis jest to make old age
>
> Look like a fool.
>
>
>
> The body, it crumbles,
>
> Grace and vigor depart,
>
> There is now a stone
>
> Where I once had a heart.
>
>
>
> But inside this old carcass
>
> A young girl still dwells,
>
> And now and again,
>
> My battered heart swells.
>
>
>
> I remember the joys,
>
> I remember the pain,
>
> And I'm loving and living

> Life over again.

>
>
> I think of the years
>
> All too few, gone too fast,
>
> And accept the stark fact
>
> That nothing can last.

> So open your eyes, people,
>
> Open and see,
>
> Not a crabby old woman;
>
> Look closer . . . see ME!!

Gayle,
What a beautiful poem!!! It made me cry! We never know what goes through the minds of the elderly. I don't know how anyone could mistreat an elderly person. Just because they can't talk or feed theirselfs doesn't mean that they can't think or hear. Thank you for sharing it.

Debbie went through her toe nails surgery fine. Tonight I talked with James. He said around 5:00 she got to hurting (the meds had worn off). He gave her a pain pill and she was asleep. So say a prayer that she'll be good as new soon.

Hey Dee...Are you reading our posts?????? We miss you!!!!!!!! Are you too busy soaking up the sun?

Has ANYONE heard from Ramona? I'm really starting to worry!

Carol.....How are you? PLEASE post soon!!!!

Where is everyone else? Post soon!! I miss you all!!!

Hugs.......

gdeann 02-17-2005 11:15 PM

GREAT PICTURE SHER!

I must be off in La-La land....I missed knowing Deb was having surgery today. Deb, take care of yourself and post when you can!

Shelley, are you feeling better tonight?

I'm worried about Ramona too...even if she stops posting, she lurks....Please post a message to us sweetie.

ShelleyM 02-18-2005 06:20 AM

I didn't know about Debbie either. I am sending prayers her way.

Sherry-Beautiful picture!

Gayle-I am still feeling yucky. I didn't run yesterday, and today after my appts., I am going out to help search for homes with my parents. I only wish we could build something attached to our home that they could live in. Wouldn't that be nice? Then I wouldn't have to worry about them.

Sherry 02-18-2005 07:20 AM

STOP!!!!!

Please Go To #28.............A New Thread Has Been Started!!!
