Talking Kerry's update -

So how many asthmatics do we have here? :raises hand: What do you ladies do to exercise or is it not exercise induced? Mine is exercise, allergy and reflux induced! I try doing the two puffs before exercise, but it doesn't always work. I am getting my albuterol filled today. So we'll see. . . I know I need to start exercising if I REALLY want to look good. Last night we went out and I was feeling fine - DH even jumped me when we got home and the first thing he said was you look REALLY good since losing weight. I'd love to hear more of that. Maybe he'll eventually try to lose his handles as well!

My in-laws are visiting this weekend and making it very difficult to stay on my diet. There are chips/dip, donuts, beer and more beer all in my kitchen! Yikes! They'll be here until Monday morning. So Superbowl will probably be a diet buster.

Nonetheless, I got on the scale this morning and I am very close to 154. I think I've gotten handy at staying under my - don't gain weight calorie limit (1800) even if I don't stay under my lose weight calorie limit (1400).

Marie - your stained glass is beautiful. I LOVE the ship panel and the penguin is too cute. My mom collects penguins and would love it

Lori - it is great that your family is so supportive. Mine is not so. Let me know what recipes everyone likes and maybe I'll slip on into our meal plan. We cook every night here and we keep having the same thing over and over - BORING!

All you Race Fans Geez! I've lived near racing cities a few times in my life - well I grew up outside of Indy, lived a year in Florence (right beside Darlington SC) and now I live just south of Charlotte. I still am not a racing fan; I just can't get into it, but I sure know there are a lot of fans and most of the love to drink beer!

Alrighty I'm off here for now. I'm going to do my best to stick to my diet and still enjoy myself. Have a great weekend ladies!

Hello gang,
I 've been around. I'm not much of a nascar fan so I've been just reading the posts. I'm doing ok on my 1400 calories. I'm finding it hard to get all the calories in...that was my problem with WW..couldn't fit in all those points.
I've been crazy here with work and debating over switching majors. I suppose the only new news at the moment is the guy I have a small developing crush on..is re-thinking he concerns about dating someone he works with...wish me luck I think he is realizing that I'm not a 15 year old that is going to follow him around the store. I have my own responsibilities at work. Anyways..hope all is well with everyone.
I'll check in later

Mornin' everyone. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. I do agree with Diana, it's starting to get hard to remember all the threads that we have going on. This is turning out to be a great place to post. I am really thankful I'm here. We all are so different but there sure is a lot of commonalities between us. Because we're on a new page, I'm going to have to go by memory to respond as opposed to scrolling up to reread a post so I can respond to it.

Diana, please don't just lurk. If you don't respond to everyone, that's okay. If you resond to no one, that's okay.; Just share how you're doing and what you've been up to. We all care about you and your success. We're all in this boat together.

Lori, you are really lucky that your family is supportive. My kids are older and don't eat at home too often. My hubby will eat anything I put before him (actually he does lots of the cooking after I decide what we're having). But when the kids were young, I had to make myself separate meals to eat low cal and low fat. That was a pain in the butt. So consider yourself lucky. Also, DH and I decided that we needed more creativity in the kitchen and now try out one new recipe a week - on Friday nights. So we have that in common.

Kerry, thanks for the compliment on the glass. The ship is awesome in person. It's in our big picture window and it goes with the models DH makes. He does ship models that are about 40" long. They're just gorgeous so that's why the glass had to be made. Yoiu can make it through the super bowl and stay on track. Just don't overdo. Eat to maintain this weekend while the inlaws are visiting.l

Christina, good luck on deciding which major. I'm forty-three and do nothing with my major or masters. I stumbled into database management and have been there since. I now which I had gone into computer science. So really, good luck. It's a difficult choice that sort of steers the rest of your life. And the guy you have a crush on, work romances do work out. I've been married to DH for almost 22 years and we met at my college employment. So good luck.

Today we sign on our mortgage refinancing. It'll save us about 600 a month. I am really excited about the change - we'll have money again. Yeah!!!! I didn't exercise last night like I was supposed to so I will exercise this afternoon. Calories for today are going ok but it's only 9:44 in the morning. So I still have a long way to go on a weekend. I can relate with everyone that has weekends as a diet obstacle.

Take care and have a healthy day.

Lori, I knew I forgot something - the knitting machine. It's at Joann.com and called the Ultimate Bond Sweater Machine. It's about $140 and worth every penny. I'm having fun making the sweaters with yarn that I love. There's so much to choose from that I now have a stock pile that will last me the rest of the winter. It's really pretty easy once you get started and you don't have to know how to knit. I don't and I produce these cool sweaters and stuff.

Well it's game day, the superbowl! Looks like Kerry is going to have her hands full! Since the game don't start until 6 I told my DH not to invite anybody over, too much work with getting everthing organized for back to work/school tommorrow. Jenn, next time you know their comming let me know, I have some really good low fat chips, dip, and pastry ideas.

I jumped on last night and caught up on recent activity, but one of my friends called and I never got back over here to post. Although I did get my work out in at 11 pm last night, I could kick myself for sitting around watching movies all day. Now I have a ton of laundry and house work to do! Oh well, typical weekend around here!

Christina, I'm glad to see your still hanging out! I think it would be weird dating somebody at work, I'ld kill my DH if we spent that much time together. I used to work at a call center and we had alot of couples work there, the ones that were more mature appeared much happier (as in not following each other around) I've seen that and boy can that get ugly! I don't remember, did you say what your major is now? What are you thinking about changing too? Wish I had a clue what I wanted to do when I grow up!

Marie, I don't know if you can call them supportive, I still wind up making extra food because they don't always like everything I make. I just like that they will try it. My DH would eat anything too! I like trying new stuff every week, keeps the whole diet thing more interesting. I haven't checked out the machine yet, maybe that can be something I can ask for for christmas, sound cool. And good luck with the mortgage refinancing!
Well I'm going to make breakfast so I'll check in shortly! Hey, I almost forgot, I PM'ed and emailed everybody with the short bio stuff to help with remembering everybody. If somebody wants me to add or change anything let me know! Do you guys want to do like a reciepe post? Maybe you guys could pm me and I could put it in one big post! Maybe this week, your favorite food, or anyother ideas??? If we go with this let's include nutrition facts since everybody is doing something different!

Hi ladies. I am not new here I have been here for almost 5 years. I did great untill I changed jobs (first one closed and went on Un Empl for about 6 months then started up in a very stress ful job) I started 234/size 24 and lost to 169/size easy14 now I am up to 248 and tight 22. Not good I can not be a frequent flyer as not only do I work 50= hours a week for regular time but also add OT on off shifts, and have 3 kids still at home with sports work and running for all of them. SH is no help as I feel that my children need to be active or they will learn poor habits like I did when I was a child. He sits on the couch and yells at me so I take them my self make dinner work my butt off (don't I wish). and try to clean the house. some thing has to give some where Now I am starting to get back to they gym. LOL like I needmore!! But I do need that and a little attention to my self. I alsofeel that very few people understand the desperate needs of an over worked woman with kids. food tend s to be a no brainer and fast foods are the ease of life. and the killer of a figure.

I Do LOW_CARB. and I do not know if there are any followers on this thread but I found that is the only way in the past that I have even come close to my goal of a size 8 (10 would be nice too, I would even settle for a 12, 14 does not sound horrible either)

diana I too am realy bad about keeping up with what and who every body is so I read and enjoy do not lurk (I just found this thread today) I will say I am not good about posting daily (Impossible) nor individual responces (even going back and reading all the post that I miss if gone for more than a few days)

So that is mY HI to all you folks here.

by the way I am 45 with 4 kids (19 f, 16 f, 11 b, 10 b) work as a Nurse manager and fill in for nurses when staffing is low and/or sick.

Default Thank you Sue!!!

Welcome Sue!

You can't believe how much I appreciated your post!! I was feeling really selfishly miserable, hating weekends--until I read your post. Good grief girl, compared to you, I should have lots of time to just sit around and eat bon-bons!
So here goes my weekend vent---I was up a lb this morning , I was not in the mood to go to church, I have laundry and house cleaning to do, am going this afternoon to pick the bagworm cocoons off a tree in front of one of my offices, and will spend a few hours at the other one finishing up some taxes. I didn't get my exercising in yesterday, but I seemed to by busy all day-HOW DID I GAIN??????????

Okay venting over, time to regroup

I'm making pancakes for da boys (hubby and stepson), which is a good meal for me--I hate that sweet taste of syrup! So I will not be eating much of that. My downfall will be this afternoon during the game when I know that I will be making hot wings for the ones that inevitably show up to watch the big screen. Hey that might be a good time to be at the office !

Note to all: If anyone hears about losing weight on an all carb diet--PLEASE let me know--I am so there!!!!!

Have a great game day, and thanks again Sue!

Hi to all of us BUSY people out there. I work fulltime at a vet clinic, have been there about 6 years, after a full day there I clean a bank daily, than get home to dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, peacocks, pygmy goats, a parrot and a cockatiel who are of course hundry. Plus I have a 12 yo son and a husband who thinks that dishes, laundry and meals are "womans" work! Than after that is done there is always the homework battle! So even though I am on the run all the time, I make bad food choices and have for years, I grab whatever is quickest and easiest, so naturally not that healthy! I am not a breakfast eater, which is bad, and more days than not I don't have or take time for lunch, so by night time I am starved. I am trying to change the lunch time routine and at least make a sandwich or something that I can eat on the run. As for making time for exercise, LOL, I haven't done that for a while. I like to walk and when I get into a routine I am pretty faithful about it, hoping that as soon as weather permits I can get back to walking, cause that is the only way I have found that any type of eating plan will work. I am looking forward to getting ideas from all of you!!! Good luck in the coming week, and hopefully we all will be losers! Take care, Lori

Default Is there a football game or something today?

Just kidding! Lori, I PM-ed you my bio, but here I'll just say that I'm a 47-year-old bachelorette, a nonprofit manager, and a confirmed foodie. My dream job is to be a restaurant critic for a daily newspaper.

This morning I met friends for a great Mardi Gras brunch. I definitely ate too much, but the food was really special, and I did eat mostly protein (seafood omelet)--but probably a whole stick of butter. I'll try to make up for it the rest of the day. I'm feeling pretty upbeat, because I'm not sick for a change, and as of today, I've lost a good 10 lbs since Christmas, despite some indulgences, workplace stress, flu bugs and snow storms. All of you who participate in these forums have been tremendously supportive, and I thank you!

To everybody struggling to find these threads: I've finally started using the 'subscribe' function on the control panel. If you want to keep up with this thread, for example, just go up to the top of this thread, click on Thread Tools, and choose Subscribe to This Thread. You can choose to get an email whenever someone adds to the thread. If you say no email alerts, then whenever you first log in, just look at your control panel, it will show you if there are any new posts in the threads you've subscribed to, or you can see a list of all the threads you've subscribed to, whether or not anyone's added anything. There's probably a less wordy way to to explain this, but it's the best I can do! Anyway, it's made my time on 3FC a lot more productive.

Marie, thanks for sharing your website, your work is beautiful. And congrats with the mortgage. Let me know if you have any extra money you need help getting rid of....

Joetta, don't worry about the weight 'gain,' from day to day it's all so arbitrary, between hydration, bloating, hormones, digestion (sorry), many doctors say even if you weigh yourself at the same time every day, you should concentrate on the weekly averages, not the daily fluctuations. Plus, if you've been working out, then you're turning fat into muscle, which is 'heavier' but takes up a heck of a lot less space, and helps you burn off more fat....keep your chin up!

Gotta go and walk on the treadmill to atone for pigging out at brunch. More tomorrow.

Take care, y'all

Default Welcome Kansas Lori!

Welcome Lori!
My first post on 2fc was a reply to a post of yours, and heck if I remember what that was all about-or what thread it was-but I do remember thinking that it sounded as if we had a lot in common.

Update on my pancake/hot wings food plan for the day---scratch all that.
While I was mixing the pancake batter, my sister calls (who, by the way, happens to live 3 houses away--I LOVE IT!). She invited the family to Louisville to eat at Shalimar's, an Indian buffet. So off to the hog trough I went! Knowing that I would have to exercise long and hard this week to repair the damage, I knew it would be worth it. I took it easy on the first plate full, and was so full when I finished it, I could not go the second round!

I will still be making the hot wings for the game--but I will not be tempted with my belly full of curry!

Off to exercise! Oh, yeah, and to get the clothes out of the dryer.
Joetta

Well it's Monday morning again, UGH!! I have to go out in the field this morning so I won't be around until lunch. My official weigh in was 164.5 that's a 1lb loss. Oh this is going to be soooo slow! It's a good thing though, as long as I'm seeing the numbers go down I should stick to it. These two weeks are always the toughest for me not to quit. (3 & 4) Having all you guys to chat with is helping big time, normally I'ld freek over only one pound after I worked my can off, but being with others who struggle too helps me remember I'm not alone! I wonder if this is going to be what is normal for me??? I was hoping for two pounds a week, but dropping 4 the first week should still put me at my target to lose 10 lbs by March 10th. (I have to go to the Dr. so this is my first goal) And it's is real important I get my weight back down so they don't play with my meds, I don't think I could stand that. I found the BEST fried chicken (low fat) reciepe I've ever had and I can't wait to share it. OH was it good, it was a big hit with the family, I'll be making it alot more (it's just not real fast. I got to run since I'm going out of the office today I have to be on time so I'll chat with you all later!!!

Hey Guys! Good monday morning! Hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent mine at work!! I have fallen off track a little. I have not been to Curves since last Wednesday!!! Plus I didn't stick to my meal plan 100% over the weekend. I don't think that I really went over my calorie limit but I still didn't do as well as I should have done!

Lori~ I have a feeling that when I weigh in today I will have only lost 1 lb too, if even that! I get a little frustrated when I weigh myself. Every scale I step on shows something different. I have been using the one at Curves to track my weight loss. It is a little more than the one at home but it is the weight that they are tracking at Curves so I figure that should be the one that I use.

Well, hope everyone has a great start to this new week. I need to get off my butt so I can get to Curves!!

HAPPY DAY!! HAPPY DAY!! Lost 4 lbs this past week!!

Can you tell that I'm just a little excited!!?? I really didn't think that I did that well this past week. I think that I am going to join WW tomorrow. The lady that runs Curves also runs the WW meeting in my area. We had a long discussion today about my meal plan and I think that I am going to give WW another try. I was in WW a few years ago and did really well with it but then I started working crazy hours and couldn't attend meetings anymore and just stopped going and following the plan. I would like to get started before I go on my cruise so that I don't gain all my weight plus some back.

Well, have to run. Have a dentist appointment in 45 minutes.
