Happy Moo Year

I do not feel like looking up the names of the threads from past years, but I’m sure that my thread title is a repeat. Someone will look it up, probably Peachez. I will cook a lovely dinner.

I have succumbed to peer pressure and bought Leslie. I will be marching in front of my TV soon. We have company or I would start immediately.

Wabby 12-30-2004 06:34 PM

Lushie, I'm thrilled that you're joining the herd in marching along with Leslie. See you next year!!!! :hat:

SugP 12-31-2004 06:20 AM

Leslie is the bomb!

You'll love it, Lushy! It's really not all that bad, and she's so encouraging. Ds11 even did it yesterday because he thinks he's getting a little pudgy. He is, but I'm trying not to pressure him about it.

Must get cooking. Less than 12 hours 'til midnight here. Managed to sleep until 11 a.m. the fourth day in a row. Lovely. :smug: :smug: :smug:

Cowpernia 12-31-2004 09:25 AM

I hope my avatar works. I want to be Wabby Jr.

I also own Leslie tapes from back in the Herby days. He kept the one-mile and sent the others along with me. Do they actually work?I guess so, huh? Should try them.

Going to check my avatar now.

Stoppin in to wish you lovely adorable cows a happy and healthy 2005. Couldnt make it through the holidays without sending you my love. :flow1: :grouphug:

Life is GOOD here. I am finally sober.....wohhhhhhooooo 9 months and actually living the AA program, unlike last time. I have proved to myslef, this is where i need to be. ;) Kids are great. Single and LOVING IT.

Hope all is well with you all.

*smooches*

Muffie :flow1: :flow1:

SugP 12-31-2004 04:32 PM

Muffers!!!

Way to go! What a woman. Glad to hear you're doing so well. :D

10:29 p.m. here. Kids are outside letting off firecrackers with Papa and I'm in here relaxing and not even thinking about cleaning up the kitchen yet. Have a teeny tiny glass of sparkling w(h)ine in my hand. I suppose the headache tomorrow will be worth it.

How come it says Kiwi was the last one to post on the jingling cows thread but I can't see the post? :?:

Are we making New Years resolutions? I'm sure not. Never have, never will. But this year we'll be perfect, right?

Kiwonk 12-31-2004 04:54 PM

That's cuz I deleted it because I was answering an ancient message because I'd forgotten to read all of them before I posted, and frankly it made no sense. So I'm here, but I have to go because I'm going to a very small NYEve party -- but at least I'm getting out of the house!!

I will Leslie-ing starting Monday when everyone goes back to school and work. Right now I am tired from all the (damn) driving etc. Happy New Year to all good Cowies!

(That's all of us, in case anyone was wondering)

Kiwi

Lohani 01-01-2005 03:04 AM

Welcome to Perfect 2005. I am planning to get every aspect of my life in perfect order this year. I am starting with DH and working my way down from tallest to shortest. As soon as I finish with him, I get to work on ds14. I am next. I am sure I'll be at the top of the Feb. list.
I walked with Leslie today. It was more fun than a barrel of monkeys. I didn't listen to her encouraging me because I did picture in picture while I watched regular tv. I checked her website and you have to PAY to read the boards. I love our 3fcs. I wonder if they bill automatically because I still don't get popups or ads. I also don't see anything asking for money.
I am back from my NYE party. DS12 stayed over. The rest of us are home in our sweet little sober house. I think it should be a rule that a video camera be mounted in an out of the way corner at every party so the drunk "funny" people could listen to their lame jokes in the morning.
Muffie, I am so PROUD of you. No one needs to take hidden video of you, huh? I'm glad you stopped by.
I should go to bed. I am cooking a lovely traditional pork and sauerkraut dinner tomorrow. Is that the tradition anywhere else?
bye

Kiwonk 01-01-2005 02:52 PM

Hidden video, huh? Maybe we could make it part of the patRIOT Act, eh?

I'm so glad you're going to be perfect this year. I look forward to copying you. How do you plan to perfect the DH? That sounds like more than a year's project to me.

Had nice party last night at people's house an hour away -- there were only 7 of us (and 2 were DD and a friend) but we managed to stretch it out to 1:30 am and then I had to drive home. And it was rainy/freezy/slick and a bit nervewracking to drive. The real trick was getting down our driveway: the whole thing was covered by a thick sheet of ice. And of course, it's downhill to the garage. I crept a ways down and starting sliding. It took several minutes to inch my way down. I'm so glad I hadn't let anyone else drive -- I suspect we would have ended up in a ravine.

So today I'm trying to install and activate Norton Antivirus on the other computer. DH has tried it half a dozen times and it doesn't work. I don't really have much hope for it.

What an exciting life I lead. Hope all yours are, well, something else.

Happy New Year!

Kiwi

SugP 01-01-2005 03:09 PM

dh makeover

Oh yes please, Lushy, do provide detailed list/plan/diagram of how you intend to perfect your dh. Having a perfect dh has always been my goal, but I'm afraid there's not all that much to work with. It could take decades :D Heh, only kidding. At least he doesn't stay out all night at bars lookin' at other women. As far as I know. :p

Wow, Kiwi! Glad you got home safely. Ice is the worst.

OK, I AM going to make one resolution: I refuse to let houswork control my life any longer!!!Well, it's worth a try, at least.

Kiwonk 01-01-2005 06:28 PM

Housework doesn't control my life. The avoidance of housework and the resulting consequences control my life. Strangely enough, today while I was waiting for the computer to boot up for the x-teenth time, I cleaned the bathroom and did a load of laundry. Perhaps I'm turning over a new leaf. heh.

I also got the foolish virus software to load and update and I am the computer hero of the house today. DH is the puter expert around here (yes, I will admit he is much better than I--my advantage is patience with the details, and persistence) and he had been banging his head against the wall over this thing since we got home Thursday night. I will not gloat. I will not gloat. I will not gloat.

What's for dinner?

Kiwi

PainterWoman 01-01-2005 11:00 PM

Bitchy or Bovine. You be the judge.

Sometimes New Year's is good. Sometimes it isn't. It isn't this year.
I forgot to take anti-depressants for a coupld of days, for one thing (too focused on Martha Stewart caliber Christmas Cookies I made with DD-- but mostly ate by myself. CR*P. Did get some knitting done. No exercise. Do you all really recommend Leslie? I think I should just hang myself from our Bow-Flex wanna be equipment. Grumpy Grumpy. I did, however, find a neat website for all of us: COWS! I probably OUGHT to be grateful. We didn't have bad weather or typhoons or health problems or repo-men showing up. OK. I'm grateful. But I am still crabby. Drat. I will post more when I am over it. :moo:

PainterWoman 01-01-2005 11:16 PM

Still cranky. But updated at least.

Bagzz 01-03-2005 12:19 PM

COWS!!!! that is from PEI----that is a the next province over from me Painty!!! how funny that you found that----they make the BEST ice cream ever---sort of like Baskin Robins or Ben and Jerry's----they are a very popular stop on Prince Edward Island---we buy their tee shirts.ANYway---that made me smile----I should get someone to scan the pic of Kiwi,Betty and I at the Cattle Crossing Sign-----KIWONK!!! do you have this pic????

Wabby 01-03-2005 01:43 PM

Yes, Painty, Leslie is the answer for we less than athletic types. She is so simple that even I can do it. It takes no coordination. I only promise myself to turn it on, then I tell myself I can quit at any time, then I tell myself I only have to do the first mile, then somehow I keep on going until then end of the video. See what a non exerciser I am? Works for me. You just have to get over the initial feeling of silliness marching in front a tv. :dizzy:

Kiwi, everybody here knows you're a computer whiz.

Lush, please forward DH perfecting instructions. My dear dear DH went fishing all day on New Years Eve. 6 am until 6 pm. Then he came home, ate and zonked out by 9 pm. That was my rockin' New Years Eve. At least he was warm to snuggle against at midnight, even though he was unconscious. Ya gotta look at the bright side.

Muffie, it's wonderful that you're letting the program work for you. My sis has 3 yrs sobriety now and it just keeps getting better and better for her. So good to hear from you, girlfriend. :)

Happy New Year to all my favorite Cowsies!!!!!

Wabby 01-03-2005 07:06 PM

I don't like it when I post in the morning, am gone all day and then when I check back no one has posted after me. If I post again, I feel like I'm talking to myself. Oh well.

We have Coldstone Creamery here instead of Cows. A new one just opened not more than 2 miles from my house. I remember that picture, Bagzie, I think I may still have it on my old computer.

OK, I guess I really didn't have anything to say, although that's never stopped me from posting.

I think in this case, you may have overstepped the bright side... Sorry to hear the fish-man was such a New Year's Eve bore.

Here's something on my dh that needs fixing: he seems to think that "borrowing" things from the kid is the same as her borrowing stuff from us. Can't get it that he is supposed to be the adult in the situation. He asked to borrow DD's CD walkman a few days ago to record something off it, which she was fine with. Then he "borrowed" it without asking yesterday for the same reason. She was p-o'ed and I don't blame her -- actually she was on the verge of tears when she complained to me. I told him today that he really upset her and he claims to be frustrated by the whole thing, keeps pointing out an old CD player that he let her use for years which then broke. Good grief, don't they ever grow up?

I have that pic, Bagz. Want me to post it? I want some Cow Ice Cream. I love PEI. Can I post the photo of you with your hands in a bag of meat?

Durn I have a lot of stuff to do and I don't want to do it. Can you say LAZY? So far I haven't turned over any new leaves in the new year, it was just a hiccup apparently.

Kiwi

Kiwonk 01-03-2005 10:55 PM

By the way, Lush, what is that avatar you're using?

Cowpernia 01-04-2005 10:08 AM

I am a proud mama. I chose a small amount of money, doubled it, and donated to one of the agencies working with tsunami victims. I told DS that I had donated for the two of us. He told me that he had gone into the Red Cross office and donated twice as much. Red Cross is next door to my work office.

True. The actual bright side is that he's been trying to make up for it ever since.

2 miles w/ Leslie this morning.

PainterWoman 01-04-2005 03:34 PM

OK, Wabbs, I missed out on the hula hoop bandwagon. Please explain to the blonde.
And I'm not sure what Kiwi's avatar is... an Alien Santa hovering over a mug?

I am famished.... only v8 since arising and it's 2:30 in the afternoon. Crazy Painter. Have bazillions of "oughts" running through my mind. I guess I'll have a ham sandwich first and review my TO DO list. Don't have to return to work/clients until tomorrow. Did you all do resolutions this year? I am feeling a compulsive need to make some, and yet I don't want to make ridiculouslyhuge ones and be disappointed. How fear-based is that. What a wuss.
(And where did THAT word originate, anyway?)
Stay warm... and appropriately dry.

She was very nice to me.

Close. It's a little china piggie with a roach clip on a wire sticking out of his back. And the squiggly santa hat is a computer graphic. I'm all about fussing with useless details in order to waste vast amounts of time. It's what I do.

I'm marinating pork cutlets in lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, onion, rosemary and pepper for dinner tonight. With brown rice I need to go cook. Must find veggies. Ta.

Cherry Cow 01-05-2005 10:40 AM

Hi Cows! I'm sorry I didn't stop in sooner-- had a cold, then strep, and still haven't shaken all the nastiness off.

I gained back all the weight I lost at WW, but I've already re-lost 5 pounds of it. WW didn't work for me. You can see the details on my blog. However, I like the points system, so I'm still using it. The most important thing is keeping my groggy burnt out self out of the candy machine during the semester. My worst habit is sucking down Reese's peanut butter cups to stay awake.
School is cool. I finished my second semester last month and start my next semester in a week and a half. Then the madness starts again and I might not get to pop in until April.
Peachie, your DS's site is very cool! Does he write Afghanistani Annie? It's very funny.
Hello to all other cows. I think of you often.

PainterWoman 01-05-2005 12:10 PM

I'll keep it under MY hat.

A roach clip, eh?
So who loses weight while fighting the munchies?

After posting last night I got sooooooo sleepy. I actually went to bed (before 9 pm!!!) and slept straight through. I'm dozy again in front of the computer. Maybe it has to do with what I write about, you think? :coffee: I'll catch up with y'all later.

Cherry... your name is new to me.... Hi.

Cowpernia 01-05-2005 01:16 PM

Painty, meet Cherry. Cherry, this is Painty our new Texas girl. Painty, Cherry has been with us a long time but vanishes into other interests from long bits of time.

Cherry, how sweet of you to read so far back that you know about DS's site. Yes, that's his famous cartoon strip. If you feel like it, email him and tell him you like it. I'll know when he blushes.

I missed the roach clip thing. What a role model! You expect the rest of us to stay drug free?

Wabby 01-05-2005 01:33 PM

Peaches, you're such a wonderful hostess.

Hey Cherry!!! Good to hear from you. I don't go to WW anymore either. Not that I feel that it doesn't work for me, it's just that I've decided that I need to make this a way of life, and that doesn't include going to weekly meetings for the rest of my life. The way I eat is loosely based on the WW program, but I've modified it to fit me. You sound busy, but happy.

I went on a 4 mile stroll w/ Leslie this morning. Kinda have a little headache now. Hope it stays little.

How did those pork cutlets turn out Kiwi? Your dinner sounded delish.

Bunco Saturday night. woo-hoo! As always, the center of my social life. :dizzy:

This headache isn't going away.

There were pretty tasty -- I think I overcooked the pork a bit. But it was excellent with the onions.
Hope your headache scrams. Or ceases and desists. Or something.

Lohani 01-05-2005 07:15 PM

Kiwi, what planet do you think this bunch of old bats was on during the 70's? What is a roach clip indeed. Why, Sissy traveled with the Merry Pranksters!
I will not address daughters who give their mamas roach clips. I have teenagers myself, I am all in favor of being delusional.
I am best walking buddies with Leslie. I can't imagine spending more than 2 miles with her, isn't it boring? I haven't heard her voice, yet. I keep the TV on while we're walking. I have quit on other walking buddies in the past because they wouldn't shut-up.
Cherry, it is wonderful to see you. As all of you see, I have not sent Christmas cards. I fully intended to send New years cards....now it may be Valentines...we'll see. I have never been less busy at Christmas time as I have this year, and I accomplished less.
I'm trying to get my warsh done. bye

Wabby 01-05-2005 07:22 PM

She's boring, but less so than her cousin Treadmill.

Cherry Cow 01-05-2005 10:49 PM

Wabby, I agree with you about meetings... I want to make this a lifelong thing and I just can't make it to meetings every week for the rest of my life!

I'm studying Library Science. I want to get my MLS and be either a youth services/ children's librarian or a school librarian.

Lushie, it was a miracle that I got my Christmas cards out at all! I mailed them on Christmas Eve!!

SugP 01-06-2005 02:24 AM

Guess where I've been?

Hint: Whoooooooo lives in a pineapple under the sea?

Still can't figure it out? Well, I went to see :cb::flow1:SpongeBob-The Movie:flow1::cb: with ds11, ds8 and ds8's best pal. Man,what a movie.Thrilling plot, non-stop action, gorgeous leading man (if you're into sponges, that is), and David Hasselhof has some really sexy feet going on there if you're prepared to ignore the rest of his silly self.

Have been suffering from some strange sort of stomach bug that has left me weak as a kitten and cranky as all get out. First mystery illness of 2005. Bleh. Things can only get better.

Cherry! So sweet of you to drop in and thanks for the Christmas card. I didn't mail mine until about a week after Christmas so don't feel bad. Strep throat is just awful, isn't it? Hope you're taking care of yourself.

So, modern techonology has *finally* come to Germany and I find that I can buy a brand new Rival crock pot at eBay. Woohoo! (highlight of my day - how pathetic) They have big, 6.5 litres for 4 to 6 people, or small, 3.5 litres for 3 to 4 people. Which one should I choose? Probably the bigger one, huh? Aaaaand, for those of you who have one, do you actually use it alot? I have no experience with these things but the thought of popping food in the thingie in the morning and having it ready at dinnertime thrills me no end. Please advise.

Wabby 01-06-2005 11:50 AM

Crockpot advice: don't really have any. I use my crockpot occasionally. Probably would more but I don't have enough time in the morning to put the stuff in it. Leslie is my priority (2 miles today). I have a big crock, but I probably need the small one because my family has shrunk. It's nice when you have large groups of ppl because you can fill it up w/ meatballs and sauce and have a mega huge spaghetti feed. Gee. I guess I did have crockpot advice.

Have you ever noticed how full of advice I am? Some ppl have said I'm full of something else, but I prefer to call it advice.

In 2 or 3 weeks I'm going to visit my sil in Phoenix!!!! She and her long term man friend have ended their relationship. She bought a new condo and I get to be her first guest!!! A girly weekend!!! I shouldn't act so happy about their break up. Actually I liked him, but he was a bit controlling. Sil doesn't do well w/ control. Anyway, be prepared for me to bore you to tears w/ sil-vacation talk. Wooo-hooo!!!!!

Sugar, I never would have guessed that Sponge Bob lived in a pineapple under the sea. I'm so out of touch. Hope your bug leaves you alone.

Cowpernia 01-06-2005 01:07 PM

Get the BIG one. I use mine a lot. Yesterday I put one of those round roasts in it, the not-too-fatty kind, and had DS turn it off when he got home. Unplug it, actually. Anyhow, it was great but my friend won't own one because she and her dh believe they're a fire hazard. So one day when I was around a fireman, I asked him, and he said that if something is supposed to cook 8 hours and you leave it for 24 hours, it may cause a fire. You need some liquid. The roast makes it own liquid.

Wouldn't a pineapple rot in the sea?

Sugar, does the world like us better now that we're helping in that disaster in the Indian Ocean? Colin Powell thinks that'll make a difference. Does it? Will it? Take a poll and let me know. The news reports are so heartbreaking, unimaginable.

Speaking of unreal, does anyone watch the Amazing Race? Let's discuss the male model eating his vomit so he could continue with the race. Who will go first?

Wabby, a girl-weekend sounds like a lot of chocolate and grilled cheese sandwiches to me. At least, that's what I'd want. BE CAREFULLL~~ Don't roll off the airplane when you come home.

Wabby 01-06-2005 03:36 PM

Peaches, with this particular girl it will probably mean shopping and going to a fancy schmancy spa for the works. Dinner out. Drinking wine and discussing Life with a capital L. I've known my sil since I was 16 and she was 14. She's the kind of person that I can not see for 2 years and yet feel like no time has gone by. I just love her to pieces and the feeling is mutual.

PainterWoman 01-06-2005 03:46 PM

Crock and Crocked

I really like my crock pot. I have one from my first marriage!! Medium size, no fires or shorts. I tend to stick with a few old fav. recipes. Best is brisket or flank steak (rolled)... seared first, then with carrots/onion/pototatoes ketchup and BEER! Tender. mmmm.

Cherry-- The MLS reminded me that we have "spoken" before. I love kids and YA's books! DH got me The Blue Girl (DeLindt) for Christmas. and an editor friend of mine says she's moving to CT and will live on the same block as Rosemary Wells. How cool would that be?

I am digesting cookies from Subway. I bet skinny Jared didn't get cookies. Sure, I have "Will" power... but my decicions are... um... unremarkable.

It is freezing here, which is unusual. and I'm about to go for a haircut. I really want hot soup and a nap.

Ought to put on my woolies and go walk. Ought. Hm.
Feeling rebellious. I could use some "direction" don't you think?

ciao.

Crockpot -- I have spurts of crockpot use. I haven't used mine in months. But when I get all motivated, I do enjoy it. Everyone in my house agrees that coming home to stew or soup or whatever is heavenly. I bought a good book of crockpot recipes (the one that comes with the pot is kind of limited) submitted by people. I have a few favorite recipes, some of which I made up.

I love the Amazing Race -- I've been watching it since they did the first race. But I haven't watched the episode from Tues. yet (I have it recorded). Thanks for the warning. I don't think I can discuss the show while contemplating that scene, but maybe later.

Wonder where Bagz is? Hi to Painty and Cherry. Wabbit, your trip to Phoenix sounds great. Nothing better than a friend like that you always enjoy.

I'm roasting a chicken for dinner. Should be ready in a couple of minutes here. Mmmm. I parboiled a bunch of veggies and threw them in the pan too.

Cowpernia 01-07-2005 04:24 PM

Isn't it Sissy's birthday? Does anyone remember? It's the same as some celebrity. Lassie? No.... Hmmm.... I think it was Conway Twitty. Anyone?

Kiwi, when you watch the recorded Amazing Grace, pay attention and let me know this ... when they're ALL standing behind a metal gate and the gate is finally raised and they all run toward something, did the gate fall by itself or did someone pull it down? This is a big controversy after it happens.

I am awaiterating.

Will someone please motivate my kid .

Kiwonk 01-07-2005 06:58 PM

Oh durn, too late, I deleted it. I thought the gate fell down -- it was really heavy, the way they described it later. My guess is that if someone had their hands on it, it was to try to get it up out of the way. If someone actually tried to pull it down, they would have konked themselves on the head too. And they were all in a great big hurry, so I can't believe they would have bothered to take time to try to pull it down after they went through. Anyway, that other part was so gross. I felt sorry for that guy that took so long to eat the soup and had to listen the nitwit girl losing it beside him.

Your sissie's birthday is in June, if my records are correct. Same as Paul McCartney's! Today is Charles Addams' birthday, the creepy cartoonist. DH's birthday is Jan. 19th if anyone wants to remember that...

I'm so hungry I feel like eating the mousepad. I did 2 miles with Leslie this afternoon, but I hadn't really eaten anything all day. I went back to bed this morning right after I made DD's lunch -- I had a stomachache. Weird. So I didn't eat breakfast. Leslie made me sweat. She was still nice though.

Hope Sugar's bug is gone.

Kiwi

Wabby 01-07-2005 07:12 PM

Hey, Kiwonk, Leslie must be tired today. I walked 2 miles with her too.

I went to lunch w/ my Mom & big sis today. I ate baked ziti, which comes smothered in cheese. mmmmm. :devil:I'm worried about my sis and this hyperthyroid problem. She has a borderline incompetent Dr. who is dragging his feet about referring her to an endocrinologist.

I can't watch amazing race. It's on the same time as Biggest Loser I think. It's a terribly boring show, but I'm hooked.

Kiwi, you have the yummiest dinners cooking at your house. We had out of the can soup last night. Tonight I don't care because I'm still full from lunch.

Bagzie must have started early on the margies. It is friday night.

Well, I only brag about the good dinners that I cook. Tonight we had takeout pizza (not that it wasn't good...)

I have watched some of Biggest Loser too; it is compelling. You can hardly wait to see how much they lost each week (and then you wonder why you cared). I will at least watch the final show next week. Of course with the wonders of digital tv I can watch both. Lucky me.

We watched The Terminal with Tom Hanks tonight. Very funny. Sort of a nothing ending, though.
