  • Hurry for you, Bonnie! I am so impressed that you could spend time visiting relatives and still lose weight.

Kandice, I know you’ll have a good weigh-in on Wednesday.

I’ve had a hard time diet-wise with my Dad in town. Even though I’ve stayed within my calorie range and watched my portions, I’m up .5 pounds this week. I’m hoping it’s water retention due to the salty-type meats I’ve been fixing for him.

As I mentioned, he lives alone and one of the things he really enjoys when he comes to visit is having me cook him “real” meals like my mother used to make when she was alive. It seems the least I can do for him. I’ve been fixing a big salad with every meal, so there’s a healthy alternative available, but as my younger son said yesterday, “How can anybody pass up mashed-potatoes and gravy?”

On the plus side, I’ve done really well dealing with the Christmas goodies that are arriving daily.

Here’s hoping we all have a good week.

  • Bonnie- that's great! keep it up!

flora- 1/2 a lb- don't worry about it! It'll be off by saturday I'm sure!

I'm going to be in Maine next week so won't be online much next week, but after the new year, anyone interested in setting another goal date? valentines day? my wedding day (3/5)? I'd love to continue with you ladies!
  • Yes, yes, yes, Kandice. Let's set a new challenge once the Christmas season comes to an end and we are all, more or less, back to our usual routines. In case I get busy and don't have time to post the rest of the week, I hope you have a good time in Maine and that things go well with your stepmother.

Bonnie, sounds as if you're moving at full accleration and will have everything ready by the time your family members arrive. Congratulations on another pound lost! Your cookies sound delicious.

I'm off to the store to buy groceries for Christmas dinner. Our family tradition is to have a big BBQ dinner on Christmas eve and then eat leftovers for a couple of days. It's really nice to be able to kick back, relax and spend time with family and friends, rather than slaving away in the kitchen. It's a wonderful Christmas present.

    Christmas is almost here!

  • Merry Christmas, Everyone!
    Hi Everyone!

I just want to wish everyone a Merry, Merry Christmas before we all leave for various places for our Christmas celebrations.

It was a real pleasure meeting all of you (especially Bonnie, Kandice and Florafae--my main gals who kept our challenge going in spite of me leaving for my California trip). You gals really rock!! And I want to congratulate you for losing weight during the Christmas holidays!! And helping me not gain through the holidays like I usually do.

I feel so proud of all of us!

Yes, let's start up a new challenge for the coming year! I want to continue to exercise, drink my water and eat right, and you gals are my inspiration.

So, just in case I don't have time to post again, to all of you I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
    Love and Hugs,
    Dena
  • Just wanted to say happy holidays to everyone- happy new year!

I weighed today and lost another lb this month (after up and down and up...)
so for the challenege I lost 9 lbs and wanted to lose 8.

still 9 lbs away from my next goal so... we'll talk after the new year!

    Thanks everyone for your support!
  • I wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Thank you so much for your friendship and support.

When I weighed in on Wednesday morning, I was down 1.5 pounds from Monday, so the extra weight was indeed water. This brings my total weight loss for the Challenge to 13 pounds!!! I am so happy about it. I have NEVER lost weight during the holidays. Usually I gain 5 pounds or more. What a difference it makes to have a group like ours!

I look forward to setting our next challenge when the New Year begins.

Safe passage to those of you who are travelling, and may 2005 be the best year ever for all of us.
