  • Ok did anyone watch Oprah today? It was a good one, it was all about food and how it affects aging and health, which I know we all know but this guy was on that was telling about super foods that help you live longer and he said to get all the benefits from salmon to lower your chance of cardiac arrest that you needed to have it 4 times a week! Now I don't know about you but I could first of all not eat salmon 4 times a week (dh would refuse anyway) nor afford it. So I think that is rediculous. I will try to eat it once a week but not 4! Anyway that is all I have to say for now. Just thought I would share! LOL TTYL!!
  • Jill, I didn't watch Oprah, though I love her. That would have been a good one to watch. I don't like any fish. Salmon is one that I can handle, but like you, not 4 times a week. Dh would love it, he LOVES salmon. But like you again, I couldn't afford it. It's about the same as a T-bone steak.
I've have cooked dinner, cleaned the kitchen, prepared my coffee for the morning, prepared dh's lunch for tomorrow. I gave the kids a bath and now fixing to put clean sheets on their beds. I'm definitely ready for bed time. I think I'll lay in my bed and read some of my book about starting my coffee house. Dh's allergies have kicked in and he's feeling terrible.
Guess I'll get off and make those beds. TTYL
  • Good evening ladies.

I don't have much time to get personal. I have so many things I need to do around here. Being gone all weekend really put me behind. I have been working most of the day to put together a photo album of the pictures I took this weekend of the Cowboy Action Shoot so dh could take it to work to show everyone what he likes to do for fun. I had to print pictures, make up captions, then cut all of it out and put them in the album. He better appreciate it

So far since I've been home I have stayed on plan. The excercise hasn't been on course but I have bene burning calories by helping dh do some much needed cleaning and organizing in the gun shop. Hopefully you all were right that the 1 pound was just temporary. I won't know til Tuesday. I'm trying to not cheat by jumping on the scales early.

Supper tonight was broiled white fish with fresh squeezed lemon, asparagus with lemon and dijon mustard, and a slice of mountaineer bread that I got at the farmer's market yesterday made by the Mennonite women. Soooooooo good. It's made with oatmeal, wheat germ, and bran cereal. Can't be too bad for me......I hope. They don't put nutritional values so I had to guess compared to other breads.

QOTD #1: I breast fed the first til he was 6 months, the second til he was 6 months, the 3rd was preemie and by 6 weeks wasn't getting enough to satisfy him so I had to start mixing with cereal and by 3 months on formula, the 4th for 4 months. I feel like they really need to be breast fed, even for a short time, to get more immunity from mom. My kids are pretty healthy and I think that had a lot to do with that.

QOTD #2: Don't really have a favorite healty snack. I like raw veggies and some fruit but never have been a big fruit eater. I usually have a Slim Fast shake or 100 calorie pack of wheat thins. My favorite fruit would probably be cantaloupe if it's good and sweet.

Well the dishes aren't washing themselves and only and hour and a half til kiddos bedtime...YEAH !!!!!!

Talk to you all in the morning.
  • BTW.....add me to the list too Michelle. I think that would be so nice to do around the holidays when everything else seems so hectic. Dh gets the same days off work that the kids get off school, so all of them home at the same time, it gets kinda crazy here.
  • I think I got the most of everything done......

    Spryng,
Hope you are having a wonderful dinner with dh? You don't have any flex points left, do you? Report back to us
It is so wonderful you can see him tonight and then home this weekend! YAH!

    Michelle,
Add me to the list also! What's the details... cut off date, amount and all those goodies...

    Leigh,
Hope you are having a good day! Did you do your list today?

    Crystal,
That is so horrible about the ants Hope you figure out a good plan with the house hunting! Sorry schooling went bad today

    Jaymi,
Hope you are getting back on track!

    Jill,
I was going to try to fly with you but I never made it..

    Kristen,
Hope Sydney is doing ok! Give her some extra kisses from us! Let us know if you get any new news on you!

    Ricci,
You didn't tell us how you were doing today! Hope you are having a good one

    Melissa,
I know how hard it is to have a little one do blood work I will keep him in my prayers!

Hope I got everyone! I started this post over an hour and a half ago...lol and just finished it....

As for me, I went to a new dr. today and she was really good. She told me the reason I can't stay on a plan is that I am trying to hard...lol basically...lol

She said I might be setting myself up for failure because I am trying to change all of my eating and exercising habits at once. She told me to focus on one thing at a time and then add another one two to three weeks later.

Ex: Drink all my water and watch my portion control for a couple weeks, then start exercising three x's a week/30 minutes a day, then once I have mastered those and they are part of my daily routine, add another.

Every time I screw up on my plan I get so upset with myself and I end up just giving up. So she said that if I focus on one thing at a time if will become second nature to me and that it will just be something that I do and not even think twice about it.

She also told me that if I drink any diet soda or such follow it by two glasses of water.

Let's see, what else.... Hmm... She have me a prescripton of the phenetermine and told me to only take a half dosage instead of a whole.
And she told me I can take it only when I feel like I need it, not all the time. She said is usually looses impact after 3 to 4 months. So I am going to see how it goes...

I just know I am not getting anywhere lately and I just needed an extra boost

    Have a great night!
  • Penny that sounds great!! I think she was right on because before when I would try to diet I would lose a lot but then fall of all of a sudden because it wasn't something I could stick with. So this time I told myself to start slow. I have just cut out fast food except for special occasions and tried to limit high fat and carb foods and I have lost 10 pounds! I know that I am on the right track and I feel like I can handle more now so I think I will start trying to do the WW Core now. I'm shopping tomorrow and I think my menus are almost all core so we'll see how it goes. I know you can do it! Let us know how you are going to start out, more water smaller portions etc so we can cheer you on! We're here for you!
  • Hey Chickidies
    Hey ladies

QOTD #1: I to tried to breastfeed all of my kids but,I just could'nt take the pain and it only lasted at the max 3 to 6 weeks between all of them.I started bleeding and still continued to breastfeed and cry at the same time.I also felt really guilty about switching to the bottle. All my kids took to formula well.It was me that did'nt want to stop breastfeeding. But I guess since their all healthy and happy today then I must have done the right thing.

QOTD #2 My favorite fresh snack is also fresh fruit with either fat free whipped cream or fat free cottage cheese.I just love the taste and texture of it.When I eat I really try to enjoy my food.I guess that true for everyone though.

Yes,I watche Oprah I took notes.I eat most of the superfoods which suprised me.Let me go get my list.OK here's the list:beans,1/4 cup of brocolli or brocolli sprouts, oatmeal, fresh oranges, wild salmon(I don't eat that)soy foods(or that),spinach or green leafy vegs, and tomatoes.
He also said if you don't like tofu that if you mixed it with something that you do like that the tofu will taste like whatever you mix it with.
To look younger you shouldafter checking with your doctor)
Take 2baby asprin or 1/2 of a bayer asprin a day with a half of glass of water,
you should eat 1 ounce of real cocoa choclate a day.and eating it before meals will fill you up more and cause you to eat less at meal times.
Orange peppers are good for the eyes
Instead of coffee drink green or black tea.
And that's all the notes I have.I'm going to try the tea thing.Caffine suppost to help keep you young.he said that sugars age you faster than anything else.Anyhow thats Oprah's show the short version.lol

My day went very good today.I went and volunteered in Grace's class today.I got a bulletingboard ready to post and gave the kids their snacks. It was alot better than sitting at home by myself doing nothing. My kids have been suprisingly good this week.I think it has something to do with the weather. It's been rainy and yucky here. But I've really enjoyed them today.
We baked peanutbutter cookies and me and Grace taught a cute song with motions that we learned to the other 3 kids.It was fun.Everyone had a great laugh out of it.My oldest girl is really doing well this week today she got in troble twice and she took her punishment(sitting on her bed)really well.Normally she pitches a fit or back talks and gets more time on the bed.But she just sat there until I had a talk with her and let her get up.Really and improvement for her.
I think I'm going to get off here and soak in the bath.I will try and get personal tomorrow.I just can't keep up with this thread like I want to do.I can't really get on here until the evening, when all the kids are in bed. The computer is in my room. So, during the day Dh is sleeping and I don't want to wake him up.Anyhow,Love to all ttyl
  • Deana,
I know that pound will be off! You are doing so well! Keep it up!

    Jill,
Didn't watch Opera but she always has good info. I do have her video where she has struggled her whole life trying to stay thin
  • Angel,
Sounds like you had a good day!

Thanks for posting the stuff from Opera.
I drink the green tea and really like it.

    Have a great night!
  • Ok everyone, I don't eat most of those no-aging foods, so I guess I'm gonna get old quick!!! LOL. But last week on Oprah, she had a guest on that said you could live 6 years longer if you had an org.... 4 times per week. or 200 and something times per year.... I told my friend who told me about it, that we all better get moving. LOL. Sorry, just had to tell you all that.
  • Ok I'm Back!! Miss me?? LOL.

But I feel horrible... I ate waaaayyyyy too much. Dh had a hard day so he wanted mexican which I thought, ok, there will be something core there. Well I probably could have got fajita stuff and just not eat the tortillas (because Penny was right, I'm out of flex) but everything looked so good! So I got some combo plate then I took the kids to the bathroom and when I got back DH had ordered an icecream brownie sundae for me. Ugh. He was trying to be sweet and looked so pleased with himself, lol... so I ate some of that too. I did split it with him and the kids but still, I was already full (overly full) from my dinner plate. So now I feel upset with myself. And not to mention miserable because my poor stomach can't handle that much food so it will serve me right if I am up all night puking. Someday I will learn, lol.

I'll be back on in a little bit after I put the kids to bed, just wanted to let you all know I'm home safe and sound. Maybe I'll exercise again tonight and try to burn some of this off?? I'm pretty worn out from my earlier workouts. But I'll see. TTYL!
  • Spryng,
I was just picking on you!

You have done so well with your plan and have come so far! You deserve a night out to enjoy yourself! Don't you dare feel guilty :hugs:

We love ya and glad you are home safe
  • Hello again ladies.

Spryng_Don't feel bad.You deserve to treat yourself ,especially since I hear your doing so well on plan.Plus it was a good night out with the family so don't feel guilty. All of us would have eaten the same way if we were with you.lol Especially that desert. It sounds yummy.

Penny-I'm not sure about the green tea thing.I have a story behind it.I'll keep it short. My mom was on this diet and it was using green tea.Anyhow, she gave me some and I tried it.Well I was fine till about 2am then I thought I was going to die of stomach cramps.I mean I could not leave the bathroom for like an hour and you could actually hear my stomach rolling.I'm not sure if it was a special kind of green tea or not,but every since that.I've been kind of scared to try it again. Is there 2 kinds of green tea?Because if there is I don't want the one my mom let me try.I could of done without all those cramps.Ouch...

Well,I was about to have a good nights sleep and I went to the Kitchen and relized I have'nt packed the kids lunch yet.So i'm going to do that now and then I'll go to bed.
Oh one more thing,I don't know if any of ya'll are trying to get rid of stretchmarks but I bought scarzone,(it's alot cheaper than mederma)and I've been using it for about a week and I can already see a difference.I still have stretchmarks but they are starting to fade and fill in somewhat.Actually kind of cool.
    Ta TA for now.
  • Spryng I am right there with ya!! I was going to try and get something healthy but they really didn't have anything so I got babyback ribs, salad, baked potato and steamed veggies, no pop though just water. I only ate half my potato and made them put all the butter and stuff on the side so that I could just put a little on so that was good. But I did eat a few pieces of their wheat berry bread and it was sooooooooooo good! No dessert though so that was good also. I am full though and know I ate way too much but every once in awhile isn't bad right? Don't feel guilty at all! I know that you will just start right back on track tomorrow and do great. Just try and get a little exercise in and I'm sure you will be just fine!

    Hi Penny and Mel!!

Angel thanks for the stretch mark info I'll have to try it! I hate buying things like that, that are expensive when you don't know if they work or not. I'll check it out at wal-mart tomorrow.

BTW I am dumping this Suvaril crap. I have been jittery (like too much caffeine) since about 3 this afternoon and I have only had 1 pill today! Plus it made me more hungry!! I'm going to try and sell it on e-bay to get some of my money back on it. Don't buy it anyone!! Ok I'll be on this thing a little longer if anyone wants to chat. I might be "celebrating" with my husband though too so just leave me a message!
  • OK I'm back... not for long though. I'm beat. I got the kids in bed and drank two big glasses of water and I'm feeling a little better. I read some to relax and it made me super sleepy! lol. My appointment is tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I hope I am able to sleep tonight.

Penny and Angel, thank you so much for your encouraging words to me! It just aggravates me when I'm this close to my WI and I go and screw it up.. now it will show a gain for sure. Plus I wanted to see a loss tomorrow on the doctors scales and that won't happen, lol. But that is ok... The last time I weighed at my doctors I was 195 lbs!!! So I think she will notice a difference, LOL! In fact when I first got pregnant and weighed there I was 160 lbs so I'm way under that weight too... I'm sure she will be pleased! But you two made me feel much better about my big fattening dinner, lol. Now I just hope I can control myself this weekend when Dh is home. I always have a hard time eating right when he's home for the weekend. But I'm going to map out a plan. Saturday we were invited to a picnic with some new friends and I am really looking forward to that... she is dieting too so I'm sure we'll have healthy stuff there and I will volunteer to bring a dish too that is Core.

Ok, I have to get in bed... I will chat with you all in the morning! sleep well!
