Hi all,
Chipper, thanks for the encouragement the other day. I thought of it each time I was tempted on my first day back to school. I did well thanks to you and this check in as I knew I was going to check in tonight. What is the change of life that you refer to - is it the addition of your grandchildren each day? Hblank - sorry about your husband. I'm glad he's ok. Aren't those garden cucumbers great and they are so filling and they give you the crunch sensation that chips and nuts give you. I've got to make a trip to the orchard this weekend and get some and some fresh apples too. Having the healthy food around really helps. breakfast dropped egg on toast, oj (270) lunch - a luncheon - a little ribs, a little pork, salad, a few baked beans (600) I skipped the mashed pot., corn bread dinner - one chicken fajita (300) snacks - watermelon, plums, sugarless gum 200 lots and lots of seltzer and water and one diet coke and coffee in the am (0) exercise - 30 minute swim in the pool (I'm swimming the 1/4 mile portion of a triathlon on 9/11 in place of my sister so she can do the whole thing so I have to make sure I can make it) The good news is I'm getting stronger at exercising and I'm getting better at smaller portions - I'm not as hungry. sw210 cw202-203 gw 150 mini goal 198 by 9/13 |
Welcome Synn - it sounds like you're on the right track. It's amazing how you are able to eat less and less as the days go by and you learn about healthy choices. It's nice that you have the support of your family. I look forward to hearing about your success.

Evening:
Tierdoffat, Yep. The grandbabies back, plus DH got a new job (second job) and started Monday. Now I have to run a route for him. He is an independant contractor for delivery service. He works now for 2 warehouses. He had someone lined up to run the route, but, today they decided it was to much. So, him and I are splitting it and I will run some of it with the girls. Then my son, (23 who moved back home after the navy in May) got fired from a very good paying job. So, now he is home and in the way. Offered him the route he says no he is waiting for a phone call from a place he put in an application at. Give me a break. I think this weekend, (if we don't get hit by the storm) we are sitting down and having a chat. He really needs to get his life together and move out. HELP!!! I am going to lose my mind. synn: Welcome and glad your here. You have the mind set I am looking for, want to share.:) What does the 1977 stand for? That was the year I was married and graduated from high school. Boy do I feel old now. Not far from 50. Well, diet wise nothing is happening for me again:). Maybe some day it will kick in, and I will do it. I don't like change and right now that is what my life is doing crossing another bridge. hblank: how is your husband doing?? Hope all is fine. Well, time to close up for the night. Be back tomorrow. Chipper |
thanks....I feel welcome already. I am stuffed from eating so much today. I guess with the mindless eating I had always done I ate things that never really did me any good so I was constantly hungry.
The 1977 stands for the year I was born....I have been overweight for 14 out of my 27 years, so I definitely feel much older (with all the joint pain I have) than I truely am! |
Good morning all!
Synn, welcome and I hope we can all motivate you as much as you are already motivating me. Thanks for all of your concern, my husband is fine, a little sore, but fine. We went to the body shop to get things out of the truck & man he got hit hard. We are lucky he came out with just a little aches & pains. No,he did not have to stay overnight, he just went because he was a volunteer firefighter and he knows that when you are hit that hard, it never hurts to get checked out. Dietwise, I am doing pretty well I think. Went home last night & had a pork chop with bbq sauce cooked on the foreman grill, some peas, & a little white rice. Drank one beer with dinner, but it was worth it! Another early morning today up at 4:30,at the gym by 7am (after my commute from Prov to Boston). Had an early morning swim (20 minutes) & lifted some weights, and rode the bike for about 10 minutes, now I am here at work. :barbell: Had my cup of coffee with skim lactaid :coffee2: , laughing cow cheese, and low carb yogurt. Lunch will be boiled chicken, zucchini, summer squash, broccoli, and cauliflower with garlic. I looked on fitday yesterday & found out that garlic has a lot of calories & carbs :( How depressing, I use it on everything, so now I need to cut that out too. I will just have to find a new favorite seasoning. Good luck everyone, have a great day. PS: Down another pound :cheer: |
ok, I am back cuz I feel guilty. I just had ice cream, 2 scoops of moose tracks. It's made with peanut butter cups. YUMMY!!! Ok, so that took care of the rest of my calories for the day I am sure.
Ok, the real reason I signed on, I figure if I can tell you all my real weight, i can say anything. I just found out my best friend is pregnant, while I should be happy for her, I am not. I am feeling sorry for myself because it is not me. We are the same age (31), she got married a week after me (another thing that ticked me off because she missed my wedding cuz she was too busy), and I am just being a jerk. I should be happy for her right?? |
Hey hblank you go girl:) Glad everything is good. You sure can hurt after you've been hit.
Well, tiredoffat how are you doing today. Remember don't let those others get their "oh one little bite won't hurt" foods get to you. If I said that right. Remember this is for you and not them. This is your treat not theirs. and you don't have to share:) synn: Keep counting those points. Just pretend you can't count past 32.:)Hope you are having a good day. Just remember you have to eat your minimum of points other wise your body can think it is starving and start storing what you eat. Also, a pound of fat is a pound of musacle just fat takes up more room. Almost 3 times at much. So, the scale may not move but, the clothing sure gets bigger:). Well, gang out of here for now. Have to get some more puter work done while the girls are napping. Chipper |
Hey hBlank, you are not being a jerk...everyone deserves their moment in the sun, and it seems that on your wedding day, when you really look to friends and family for support one of your biggest supporters gave you the cold shoulder.
Stop worry about the should be's, everything in life comes with time. You will be blessed with your own bundle of joy when the time is right I'm sure. I noticed you said you commute from Prov to Boston. I myself am a loyal Rhode Islander....for all the reasons I despise this little state, I love it twice as much. Roots run deep for us RIers. Today went well this far. Breakfast was 2 light english muffins with 2 tsp. smart beat (trans-fat free margarine) and a few tablespoons of red plum preserves. For my morning pick me up I had a double cup of cofee with splenda and 2 tbsp. amaretto creamer (love this stuff to death) Can't say I appreciate the taste of the smart beat, but, like everything it will become second nature. so breakfast was a whopping 7 points. Granted it is more than yesterday, but I was definitely able to make it to lunch without issue. Keep in mind breakfast is 5:30 AM and Lunch is 12:50 PM, and I am a classic grazer. No grazing today. Lunch was my waldorf salad....i posted the recipe in the ww forum for poultry/fish recipes. Can I tell you I love waldorf salad now....I never had it before today as I always thought it to be a disgusting mix, but it was so yummy. The amount I had made would have totaled 9 points alone, it was a lot of food. but I only ate half, because I was too stuffed to eat any more. With that I had 2 slices light italian bread and two small lettuce leaves (which I used as wraps because I was too lazy to eat with a fork). And I had a half of my serving of my yummy fruit yogurt smoothie. Total points for lunch 6 1/2. Dinner has not arrived yet, so I will be posting again later, all we do know is it is going to be a ground turkey something or other. The only snack I have had all day is a garden fresh cucumber. And boy was it yummy. I passed on two of my favorite things today a caramel Twix and pizza with the BF....no more little demon telling me what to eat. Overall I am in a great mood and can already feel the energy levels rising! :sunny: Good luck everyone. Maybe to keep each other motivated we could post a recipe each a week for everyone else to try? Just my two cents, although at times they are only worth 1.....heheh! |
Wow everyone is doing great! Lots of great eating ideas and exercise motivation. Now that school has started I decided that I'd work out every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Sunday I'll try to plan something active. I think that's realistic with my schedule.
I agree with synn hblank - everything comes in time. Enjoy the time you have with your husband now because as soon as you have a baby life will be very busy (lovely, but busy). You may need to take a little vacation (not total but some) from your friend though until you sort out your feelings. That way you don't lose your friend, but you have a little time to enjoy the stage you're in and she's not. I stayed out of the teacher's room today. I noticed everyone walking around with lots of sweets, but I had a bowl of fruit behind me and nibbled on delicious plums and an apple. I also had my seltzer six pack nearby and some sugarless gum. A good calorie day thanks to everyone's encouragement. breakfast - shredded wheat (very filling, lots of fiber), blueberries, 1% milk, coffee (330) lunch - plums/apple/seltzer (200) dinner - stir fry veggies with shrimp (a quick frozen packet from BJ's). I had a whopping 4 1/2 cups for a total of 440 cals - not bad, very filling and tasty enough - better than McDonalds for a busy night. I also had a med. bunch of grapes (135) Total - 1105 cals - all done for today |
Ok....now dinner and dessert
Dinner was 4 oz slice of turkey meatloaf, with 1/2 c . instant potatoes, and a half cup of peas....total 11 Pts, highest meal yet....but most filling. Dessert was this great pudding and peanut butter concoction....i will have to get the recipe for you all as it is super filling. So alas, day two has been a success. I am just excited bout my energy levels, because it is a nice contrast from the lethargia I have been feeling! :sunny: |
Thanks for all the advice, I think some of what I was feeling was shock. I am ok with it today and even excited for her. Tiredoffat---I completely agree about the life after kids, I do have 3 step-children that are 3,5,6. I have been with their dad since they were 3mos,1&1/2,& 2&1/2, so we already have busy weekends, but very fun & fulfilling.
As for the diet, yesterday was a total wash. Talk about emotional eating! :?: But it is a new day, I won tickets to the Pats/Jaguars game tonight, so I will be VERY good during the day so the couple of beers won't kill me tonight. Started off with coffee and bagel with light cream cheese. L--i think I will run out for a grilled chicked greek salad with lemon for dressing. This indian place near the hospital makes them...yum! Snack- sugar free jello Dinner- bbq at tailgate party!!!! Didn't got to the gym this morning, but seeing as it is so nice out, I think a walk at lunchtime is in order. |
Morning:
hblank: We have our days. It's done over with, today is a new beginning. Have fun at the ballgame. If you are tailgating, why don't you walk around the lot? I have never tailgated before so I only know what I see on TV. tiredoffat: You are doing great on avoiding the teachers lounge. Hey for you. Enjoy the quit time in a quit place and reflect on what is going on with your body and enjoy the changes it is making. And feel good about it in the process. 1977: Keep counting them points. You will be surprised at how much you can eat and not use many points. I always went for the no point food, but, didn't lose because I wasn't eating my taget points. I am happy to see you are doing good. Remember everyone: One day at a time, one hour at a time if easier, and Slow and steady wins the race. One day closer to our goals and past is past. Chipper |
Hi all - another good day. The kids came to school today - seems like an energetic, very nice and hardworking class. I enjoyed them today. I had a first too - usually kids make a mistake and call me "mom" but today for the first time someone called me "grandma" - a sign of getting older. I told the child it was a compliment and got a good chuckle.
breakfast - very healthy, but not that tasty tofu smoothie - 400 lunch - apple and two plums - 200 dinner - salad - turkey (so low cal), cheese (not so low cal), veggies, olive oil and balsamic vinegar (600), pear ( about 100). exercise - a bike ride tonight Total - about 1300-1400 Thanks for all the encouragement. Good idea to put lemon on the salad. Take care all. |
hey all.....day 3 and going strong. went over by half a point today....but i have a storage of 3....so now I have 2.5 for actual need.
Breakfast....well it was a bad breakfast, I had bologna & cheese sandwich with guldens mustard on light italian bread with a full 8 oz. glass of 1% milk. TOTAL 11 pts Lunch....WW Smart Ones Homestyle Chicken dinner. Surprisingly filling, and only 5 pts. Dinner....3 oz hamburger and 1/2 c. rice a roni cheesy parmesan rice(which sucked, but was filling) for a bit total of another 11 pts. Snack (after work)....huge tomato and cucumber "salad" with white wine vinegar, adobo, and a tsp of olive oil. Dessert....kick butt quick peach cobbler....5.5 point, but well worth the going over by a touch. Todays total was 32.5 points...a little disappointed but still an overall great day. Got in touch of exercise, walking to and fro all day and walking to the bus....20 minutes tops, so I think it evens out. Sooped....energy levels did falter a bit today, but otherwise feeling great!!!! |
Sorry I didn't have a chance to check in today, but what a crazy day. I was covering for a couple of co-workers & I will tell you those docs are very demanding!!
Had a good breakfast-cinnamon muffin & coffee Lunch- not so good because I didn't get out, so one of the girls grab me lunch when she went for hers. Had fried rice from a thai place and veggies in batter(I think fried) with peanut sauce....yummy thai. Felt a little guilty, but then walked 2 miles home from the train station & just had boiled chicken with veggies & garlic. Very good for the no carb and low calories. Who knows what the weekend will bring, but I am sure it will be a very busy one chasing the step-monsters around. Have a great weekend everyone! I will try to check in again over it, but no promises. Last chance to beach it for the summer!!! |
hblank - I just noticed once again that you're five pounds down - that's really great! Good luck this weekend. Perhaps you could stop at a farm stand and get more of those great cucumbers for snacks. I think I'll try to do that - there's something nice about the crunch and how long they take to eat when you need a break from all the energy.
Synn - you can keep it up. You just went over a little. I know you can stay on the WW diet - it sounds like a great plan. How are all your family members doing that joined with you? Great job on the exercise too. I had a pretty good day. I'm finding it hard to fit in the exercise though so I may have to try to do it in the early morning. I should be able to fit it in all weekend. breakfast - 2 pcs whole wheat bread, 2 tbs healthy pb, 1 cup milk (450) lunch - grapes, 2 plums (200) dinner (at moms) - fish, green beans, one ear of corn, strawberries and cool whip - probably about 1,000 since she puts a lot of butter, sugar on things. I skipped the pot, ice cream, brownies, etc. snacks - sugarless gum, seltzer total - 1650 approximately - a little high, but not bad sw210 cw 202 (next weigh in 9/15) gw 150 |
Everyone is probably at the beach or fighting that nasty hurricane (or tropical storm) that's traveling up the east coast. I'm checking in to keep myself in check.
breakfast - cottage cheese/fruit salad, coffee (300) lunch - two pieces grilled chicken covered with a little cheese and tomato, broccoli (about 600) snack - seltzer, sugarless gum (50 - 5 cals per piece), apple (135) planned dinner - grilled chicken w/veggies, corn on the cob, green beans (500) skipping the rice, bread, ice cream, candy bar, toast, etc. exercise - about 30 minutes total of swimming daily total - 1585 (I'd like to shoot for 1200 whenever I can, but this is ok) sw210 cw202 next weigh in 9/15 gw 150 |
good evening all....the last two days were a success....right on target for lowest point amounts. yesterday I was a bit low, but i fell asleep early.
i had breakfast of 2 light english muffins with 2 tsp margerine and lunch was a grilled chicken sandwich with a snack size bag of baked cool ranch doritos...days total was 24 points. today, missed breakfast, lunch/dinner was 2 bologna and cheese sandwiches, and then later on 2 slices cheese pizza. had a snack of a couple cups of popcorn too. todays total is 28 points so got in a bit more walking and a bit of actual lifting today so...yay, i'm workin it! the family is doing well, i think i am doing a bit better though because i am fully determined. |
Yay
Breakfast - Go lean crunch with Soy milk, Snack Orange, Lunch PB & jelly, Dinner Eggplant sandwich, snack PB & Jelly --- Didn't feel like cooking today
Workout 45 Minute Back, Chest, Butt and Abs Circut I'm feeling pretty good right now. :) |
Way to go synn and suchaprettyface! I'm finding this weekend full of temptation. So far I've resisted. I'm about to do a good workout. This morning instead of pancakes, I made myself a delicious egg frittata - eggs, onions, cheese, tomatoes (garden-fresh). Quite a few calories, but packed with healthy food.
breakfast (500) lunch plan - fruit (200) dinner - tough, I'm going to a cookout. I'll bring lots of seltza, lemons and limes. I also bring a fruit salad or veggie plate so I know they'll be something for me to eat. I'll plan on eating some of the meat/chicken served with the veggies and drink seltza so should end up about 700 or so which will bring me to 1400. Hope everyone has a good day. I'll be checking in again tomorrow. |
Good Luck Tired....I know you can do it. :cheer:
Everyone here is doing so great....I am so happy that I have found the right threads for me!!!!! :D I will be posting again later to fill you all in on my progress and to check in on yours, just thought I would check in now to boost a little confidence! |
Glad to hear from you Synn. The weekend has been tough. I've been extra hungry and craving food. So far I've resisted with the exception of a little too much healthy dinner food last night. I skipped all the empty calories: ice cream, desserts, appetizers, alcohol. Had a great bike ride with the kids yesterday. During the party I spent a lot of time outside away from the food - a good strategy.
Today I plan to eat light - I have lots of great garden vegetables around. I also plan to get some great exercise and do some necessary cleaning. I had a fun summer so it's time to get back to work even if it is a holiday. Take care and good luck all. |
Yesterday went well.
Breakfast was a light english with 2 tsp margarine & 8 oz. 1% milk :coffee: Lunch was 2 meatless riblets (Gardenburger), a Kashi GO Lean bar, and 14 oz. Apple Juice Dinner was a bbq chicken sandwich...which was awesome  I also walked for an hour with the BF :D POINT TOTAL: the full 32! Keep on truckin' everyone! :cheer: |
Good Job Synn. The hour walk sounds great! I had a second tough day - no empty cals again, but too much food - about 300 or so over my goal calories. I did fit in a short swim. Tomorrow I'll be back on track. We're all just getting used to the new school schedule so this first weekend was hectic.
Keep up the good work all. We can do it! |
Hi all. It's been a busy day. No exercise but I managed to stick to the diet.
breakfast - banana-peach-strawberry-yogurt smoothie (400) snack - apple (135) lunch - 1/4 c. almonds (200 - very filling and good for you), cherry tomatoes, carrots |
Sorry I cut off my entry
lunch (about 300) snacks - 3 plums (150) seltzer, sugarless gum daily total 985, a low day but I don't want to eat after 8pm so I'm done until tomorrow. I'm actually not that hungry today for once! sw210, cw 202, gw 150 |
Hey all the last two days were a success....and I had my first weigh in!!!! :D
I am so proud of myself, and I thank all of you. I think that I would have cheated to my hearts content if I didn't have somewhere to come to that kept me honest! ;) So the last 2 days meals were simple....I'll give you all a quick rundown.... :tread: Monday~ BLUNCH (Breakfast/Lunch) 1/3 lg italian grinder; 1/3 lg turkey grinder 6 oz. Pepsi, banana, and a kudo bar. TOTAL-->15 points (not bad considering it was two meals in one...technically 3) SNACKS: 2 pc light italian toast with 2 tsp margarine and a single serving of orange jello. TOTAL --> 3 points DAILY TOTAL--> 18 points (fell asleep early again) Tuesday~ BREAKFAST: 2 pc light italian toast with 1 tbsp Plum preserves. TOTAL --> 2 points LUNCH: Hunan Beef and Broccoli (Lean Cuisine) :) ; banana, and a kudos bar. TOTAL--> 9 points DINNER: 11/2 pc. Slammin' Eggplant Lasagne  (and I hate eggplant but this stuff tasted like stuffed peppers; I'll have to share the recipe so you can see what I mean) TOTAL--> 4.5 points SNACKS: 1/2 bottle of SOBE Nirvana(Mango-Melon) and a kudos bar. TOTAL --> 4.5 points DAILY TOTAL--> 20 points....I couldn't help it I just wasn't hungry any more. :o So my total loss for week one was 7.5 lbs....can you say I am excited. Only 181.5 to goal.....heheh  |
Synn - your weight loss is tremendous. You must feel so good! A terrific start. I noticed you're eating less points too - you're probably just getting used to having less. I hope you'll continue to check in. It's so inspirational to hear your story. It's so nice to have people to check in with. You're eating lots of great foods too - I'm getting new ideas.
Here's my day: breakfast - shredded wheat w/peaches and 1/2 cup milk (300) snack - large apple (150) lunch - one large tomato, wax beans and plum (200) snack - seltzer, sugarless gum dinner - beef stew - hardy helping - lots of veggies and some beef - pretty healthy probably about 600-800 cals and a tofuti bar (I love these and they're only 30 cals). Total - about 1500 - a good day I didn't manage to fit in the exercise so I'm really going to think about where I might fit that in. I just feel so pulled in so many directions - work, school, family, but I know I have to think it is for my health so I just have to find a place for it. |
Hi -
Seems like everyone is busy with life. Do you think we need to start a new check-in site to attract new people. Anyways - good day today. breakfast - egg/toast (160) lunch - tomato, almonds, apple 400 dinner - beef stew/smoothie - probably just short of 1,000 total around 1500 - probably too high for dinner, but healthy ingredients and the dinner was early exercise - missed another day - I'm having trouble working this in. sw210 cw 202 (next weigh in 9/15) GW 150 |
hey all....the last two days were great....i stayed under points by at least a few on each day...i am rather tired today, but when i have some more time tomorrow i will fill you all in a bit more.

Hello ladies....ok, did awesome the last two days....was a bit hungrier the last two days but still on the low end of my points....30 on Wednesday, and 28 on Thursday. And today is so far so good! I will definitely give you all a better rundown when I get home this evening. Hope everyone is well!
|
I like the idea behind this thread! Today had been a wash for me as I am on the run and eating crap and won't have time to fit in my normal workout. But I'll be back tomorrow to post.

Hi all - glad to have some more people to check in with. Great ideas for healthy meals, food. Synn - you're doing great! I'm inspired. Friday I did great - kept within the 1500 cals I'm allowing myself each day. Today was a bit harder as it was a different kind of day. I did the swim portion of a triathlon - great race, great swim. I plan to enter more contests like this because they really motivate my workouts. I'm going to try to train for a Thanksgiving week race - not to win, but to exercise!
breakfast - half bagel/pb, power snacks (unecessary I wasn't hungry, but curious about the snacks which didn't really taste good) 475 lunch - cookout - cheeseburger, macaroni and cheese, salad (no dressing) too many calories but I did skip the wine, beer, ice cream cones, cookies, turnovers, cheese/crackers and salsa and chips. dinner - Indian dish - really healthy, good portion exercise swim/bike about 30 mins total sw210 cw202 (as of 8/30) next weigh in 9/15 gw 150 |
Hi all! Pretty good day with dieting, didn't fit in the exercise again. I've really got to get that going.
breakfast - coffee/raisin bread (I just had to try it) 170 lunch - two plums, one medium apple 200 dinner - Seafood stew (very healthy tomato base stew)500, baked apple with oatmeal 300, 4 oz V-8 total about 1200 |
Sorry I have been absent, but the last week has just been crazy! I covered for a co-worker last week, so as you can imagine, the south beach diet went right out the window cuz it was grab what you can when you can. A quick sandwich, a bagel, whatever. Calorie wise, i tried to watch it as best I could, but now I am back to my regular job & schedule, so this week will be much better. I didn't stop the work outs though. 1.5 hours, 3 times a week. I am going to dread when it gets too cold to swim in the morning.
I am glad to see you all are hanging in there & doing such a great job sticking to your plans. I will post again later, got to get some work done! |
Glad to hear from you Hblank - I was hoping we didn't lose you. Isn't it amazing how changes in the routine can really do a job on your diet and health! Glad to hear you're back on schedule. Your workouts are amazing! That's been my weak area in the past two weeks since school started, but I finally managed to get in a good workout tonight - about 45 minutes on the eliptical/tread mill.
breakfast today - almonds (rushing! - really filling/healthy fast food) 170, plum 40 lunch - seafood stew (200), carrots (30). plum (40) dinner - pork, sweet potato, homemade applesauce (no butter, sugar), peas, plum I estimated the dinner to be 1,000 or less so I'm at my goal of about 1500 cals. Good luck all!! We can do it! |
Hello ladies....sorry i have been MIA for the last few days... can you forgive me ;)
So the last few days wer a smashing success and I had my second weigh in today. Funny thing though, this week I found out I could have up to 35 points, and I also found out my scale was off just a bit...by 3-5 lbs actually, so all my weights were different. :dizzy: To be honest I have not kept a great food journal in the last 3 days, I just know I have been under daily allowance (if you add the flex points too, I am ahead of myself) Today I splurged a bit as it was date day...the only time my BF and I actually do anything. We went to Dave & Busters though so I got in some exercise there...playing b-ball with him, and walking around our enormous mall...Finally got my pedometer and I walked a total of 5794 steps today....not quite my 10,000 goal, but alas at least I am moving. I also won The Firm workout set with the bar and the steps on eBay so I am looking forward to that! But alas, everyone just keeps kickin butt and we are all going to make it to our goals before we know it!!! |
Hi Synn - You are really doing great! You're down about 10 lbs that's awesome. I like hearing your stories of success. I find the more I get used to what I can eat on my 1500 cals a day - the easier it is to do it w/o couting. One snack that I've been having often is 1/4 cup almonds - very filling and good for you. Easy to pack and they are about 170 cals. I've got to run to work - have a great day!
