Hello & WELCOME to the Jaded Ladies!

We are a bunch of fun and crazy gals! :dizzy:

Won't you join us for some good conversation, fun, support and friendship? :gossip: :cofdate:

FrouFrou 08-14-2004 01:57 PM

Thought I would go ahead and start a new thread since it was getting close to 50 and I was still hangin' around. :D

Just wanted to comment on your family's website Mindee-I finally went over there and took a gander at everything. WOW! I am at a loss for words. You have a very special family and must be very proud of your parents! You have such a BEAUTIFUL family and must have so much fun when you are all together. As I was looking at the pages I have to say we actually had Megan Elisabeth (with a s) on our list of names when I was preggers with #4 but then changed the middle name to my grandma's middle name. Also, little Joey, what a sweetheart I saw that he was called JoJo-that is what we called my brother when he was little. His middle name is Joe but he is a JR. so goes by his mn. My cousin still calls him that-funny. Also, I was surprised to see Brent, Sean and Kim's picture!! I remember sending a card or cards to them! They are May's kids on MACS! And I think I called Alexandra Alexandria-I was thinking of my middle name! :D Anyway...THANK-YOU so much for sharing the site with us. You have truly amazing parents, very blessed!

Marti 08-14-2004 05:14 PM

Oh Cristi--I looked at the site and it brought tears to my eyes. I didn't realize it wasn't that long ago! The poems are absolutely beautiful. What a wonderful way to remember your son. And he has a beautiful name!

FrouFrou 08-14-2004 08:56 PM

Aaaahhh, thanks Marti! You are a sweetie. Today was the first time in a while that I had visited it and it got to me. I can actually think about him and look at it now and not cry, but it is still hard. He would have been 4 this year and it would have been kind of weird having 3 kids 20+ and then a 4-year-old. My son Jason did the site/memorial for us-I wouldn't even attempt to try all that after watching him.

Anyhoo...was just sitting down for a few minutes to eat a Subway sandwich for dinner. Didn't feel like cooking and my old dogs are barkin'! But would you believe I am still not done cleaning house?! Thought I would just get it all done today since Vince is working late so tomorrow I can work on the scrapbook after church. Just have the LR left to do which is just cleaning my mess off the couch, dusting and vacuuming.

Hope everyone is having a fun weekend! Take care ladies :)

Hi Everyone!!!
Hope you all had a nice day today!! I have been very busy today, so I havent had a chance to really post much!!! I have my friends children over night tonight, two boys 2 and 5... I''m also going to make a batch of the weight watcher low cal soup tomorrow, because a friend of mine said she loves it and has it everytime she wants to snack!! Good morning, Ladies,

Cristi - your son's page is awesome - made me teary. The poems are just too beautiful! I tried to sign the guestbook, but it said 404 not found. Then, the 2nd page wasn't available.

I'm not even going to try to catch up with individuals!

We had a blast! The b&b was great - I took pictures for scrapbooking. Don't know when I've stayed at such a clean place, and that includes my own house, lol. It was waaaaayyyy cleaner than that!! The neighborhood was just too charming and we walked around the cobblestone streets hand in hand. Then, at my niece's yesterday, we got to visit and relax, too. Her house is nice and she has it decorated very tastefully. And she fixed several WW-friendly dished for me. Wasn't that thoughtful? It was so good to see my sister, too - lots of hugs!

I didn't cut down my points last week - too hard! But I still lost 1 1/2 pounds. Didn't get to weigh in until this morning, since we were gone yesterday.

Good to be back home, though. I plan on just taking it easy today.

What are your Sunday plans?

da fat n da furious 08-15-2004 02:26 PM

Oh Cristi, the site is so beautiful, the poems brought tears to my eyes.
Big hugs,
Angie

FrouFrou 08-15-2004 02:27 PM

Hi Ladies~

Went to church this morning, the later service at 11 and then DS wanted to go to Applebees for lunch afterward. Now I am home and I plan to finish that darn book today-almost got it done last night but started dozing. It's Blow Out by Catherine Coulter and pretty good.

Jana~thanks! We haven't updated the guest book for a while and DS never did go back and get the pages fixed so that you could go to next to get to the christmas page. But I know once in a while I have trouble seeing the pages and get the same exact page sometimes. CONGRAT'S on your loss! And glad you and Neal had a wonderful time.

Julie~I have yet to try the WW soup but think I am needing to make a batch. I have heard from a lot of people that it is good. I am just weird in that I don't like soups/stew/chili when it is hot for some reason and so don't eat much of it till it gets cold. Hope you had fune with your friends kids and you don't get hit by the hurricane too bad. I saw the devastion in Florida and wondered if the other states got it as bad.

Well, I am off to read the newspaper and get started on finishing that book. Then I have a couple of pages of scrapbooking to get done also. Hope every one is having a great Sunday. TTFN :)

FrouFrou 08-15-2004 02:35 PM

Hi Angie! I didn't see your post as I was posting.

And thanks! I didn't mean to bring tears to everyone, although it is sad. I just loved those poems-they say exactly how I feel. At least now though I can read them and not cry so I have come a long way.

da fat n da furious 08-15-2004 02:56 PM

Good Morning ladies,
egads sorry afternoon...lol
I slept in till past 10:30 I worked till 3:30 last night. Interesting night...pretty darn spooky. Thank goodness I am not afraid of the dark cause I could never do this job.
Was siting doing surveillance when out of the dark two teen boys (very drunk) came up to my vehicle from behind, I saw them about 5 seconds before they were up to me, weird thing is one body checked the side of my van...duh Anyways my window as partly opened and well I scared probably 10 yeas off of him...lol I jumped partly out of the window with my hand and yelled really loud...he freaked...fell back on his *** and scrambled away...unforunately I also scared 10 yrs off my partners life...lol I personally thought it was hilarous...lol And that is one of the weird things about me...I can't handle scary movies,,,I freak, almost hide on the floor to avoid any visual of the movie,,sticking my fingers in my ears so I can't hear anything too,,,and yet I work in the most dangerous areas of the city without a fear.
Monte Tanner and I went shopping at Costco, got our hep A/B needles and are heading to the clinic today to get them done. Ended up buying a couple of books, , Sandra Brown Hello, Darkness and Nora Roberts A little Magic. I barely read the backs just thought ,,haven't ever really been disappointed by either women so..
So today is a day of cleaning, I got 6 loads of laundry done yesterday and day before,,,arghh still have one more basket to put away of just my clothes,,,and I see that I have another 2 loads to do...never ending,,,and the kitchen is gross. I find if the kitchen is messy then most likely the whole house is.
And Skittles killed her baby ( stuffed bear) right here in office so I have stuffing all all over the place. At least she didn't flush it down the toilet like she tried once with her stuffed lamb.
Marti, what you need is a pellet gun...that would take care of any peeing in and around your yard...lol As for agendas, I have 2. And Im electronically challenged and getting a palm pilot wouldn't work. As you guys know I can barely use this computer...lol And I have to tell you all I have taken about 3 different classes to get as far as I have. I know my cell phone and thats about the only thing I know how to use. When the time changes I have to ask Brandon to change the time on the stove...Im pathetic.
Finished school clothes shopping with Tan, and supplies. Just need to buy more pens for Brandon. I buy them by the boxes for Monte and My use but he doesn't like them kind...whatever Princess...lol
Brandon's feet are getting worse,,,5 more days before we see Dr. Joughin (jockin) and Im going to tell her that something needs to be down ASAP, Brandon can't keep taking Advil as he has been,,,his liver and stomach lining will give out. Hes in so much pain.
Tanner is completly covered in bruises which he is showing like badges of honour....he really got his groove lately and probably won't be cut if he continues go as he has been. I was asked if I could take a first aid course (paid for by them) for football.

Jana, that is sweet of your niece to show support of your weightloss in making WW dishes.
Well I need to get that kitchen done,,,and loaundry and bathroms, and clean the killings of Skittles. oh ya something funny this morning, I woke up sleeping on my stomach and I thought Monte was still sleeping too with his leg across mine,,,I look over and hes gone,,,but Skittles is sleeping on her back across my legs,,,legs in in the air, head back, mouth open,,,snoring away...lol
Well ttfn
Angie

da fat n da furious 08-15-2004 03:03 PM

Cristi, not all tears of sadness, but yes these ones were cause as most of us are mothers we can only imagine the pain you and V went throu. And for those poems to be have been written as they have been, pain had to have been endured. There is sadness in knowing all the pain.
I love that song, when my cousin died in a car accident we had that song playing. Weird thing is, my cousin Laura looked like (can't spell her name...Mairria...can't believe I cna't remember) the song had just come out and well, just hearing it brings memories back.

Afternoon ladies--

Julie: You know, I have two or maybe even three WW cookbooks. I need to dust them off and create some healthy meals. I think I may drag them out tonight and Jhanai and I will go through them and see what catches our fancy. I'm like Cristi, soup can be too hot in the summer...but there are times that you just feel like being in the soup mood!

Jana: Congrats on more pounds lost!! We're all so proud of you! I'm glad that you had a wonderful weekend at the B&B and that your niece was sweet enough to think of you and prepared WWdishes!! I'm sure you are an absolute inspiration to your entire family!!

Cristi: Just what Angie said...not all tears of sadness. The poems are beautuifully written. I too tried to sign the guestbook but wasn't able to. Hope you get to your pages in the scrapbooking. I'm looking forward to seeing what you've done so far!!

Angie: OMG...I think I would have pee'd my pants if that would have happened to me. Maybe I don't want to hang out with you during one of your cases! :D I was reading in the paper about the hurricanes around the east coast and seen that Cuba is having warnings also...I hope that it's all done with before your vacation. I hate worrrying about you girls who have crazy weather!! The most we get is heat...which does create forrest fires....but I think storms of some kind can be more devestating. SO BE CAREFUL!

That goes for all you girls!! I still wonder how the woman we had here that lived in Bermuda....Nancy. Do you girls remember her? She was on vacation here somewhere and there was a hurricane going through Bermuda....and then she had to get home (vacation was over) and was going to get back to us to let us know things were ok........never heard back from her!! Hope she's ok.

Hope the rest of you are having a great weekend. Not much planned here. Jhanai's been in the bathroom a lot this weekend.....poor thing. Trying to keep liquids down her and just snuggle with her when she wants attention.

I got to go make us some lunch. You all have a great afternoon and I will try to post later on.

jewels2 08-15-2004 04:32 PM

Hey All

Well her's the scoop.... I lost 1 lb last week, and Im a little upset with that!!
I figured for sure I would lose a few just because of the drastic cutback in snaking that I was doing.. I could have exercised a bit more than I did, but I had a lot of stuff going on!! So I'm at 193 right now... which makes 23 lbs to get to my goal of 170....UGHHHHH!! Anyway I made a bacth of the weight watcher soup, I know no one likes soup in the heat, but I figured if I freezed some then when I get in the mood for it, or just dont feel like cooking I can pull it out for a low fat meal!!! It actually tasted pretty good, this was my first time making it!!!

Cristi : Thanks for the support....and as usual the hurrican ended up being
just a bit of a downpour, so we lucked out... Hope the scrapbooking
is coming along well for you. My sister in law recently got into that
and she did a book for my mom's surprise 60th bday!! I didnt realize
the time and energy it takes!!!

Marti : If you find anything good in thos books of yours let me know// Im into
quick and easy recipes, like chicken and salad stuff!!!

Jana : Congrats on the weight loss.... I didnt realize you were following WW?
If so I may have a few questions for you on it....

Well Ladies.. I'll try to check back in later..... keep up the good work

Julie

da fat n da furious 08-15-2004 06:35 PM

oh believe me Marti, the rush of being scared out of your wits is exilerating, but I always feel in control, if I didn't I wouldn't do it.
Monte has been keeping an eye on the hurricane charley, I think he told me he more or less is snuffed himself out,,,charley that is...lol
We have forest fires in the summer with tornadoes, winter ice storms that freak me out,,,cause they knock out power and in the winter that is the last thing you need.
well we went and got our hep A/B shots today...the nurse who did it made me feel so bad, going to Hallmark to get her a card. Her 15 month old DGD had flu like symstoms which got really bad, and mom took her in, and found out that her heart and liver were enlarged. She is no on life support and doing pretty bad. Our nurse said she was working to keep sane...and will be taking time off to relieve mom/dad. Huge family and all in Ontario, so there is alot of family support.
Well anyways better get myself finishing up that luandyr,,, I found another load with sheets to do...Im thinking I will take down some curtains and get the dust washed out of them,,,I think thye were white...lol jk

HEY LADIES----
well, ive been coming in all wkend and snooping around. but, with david home, i didnt get to post on this thread. i feel really far behind. but, i have decided that i am going to have a good week. LOL

first things first. i would like to have everyones address and email. i would like to be able to send ya stuff. if you PM me yours ill PM you mine back. some of us have already exchanged and thank you again marti for the advice to ask on the thread. it is saving me alot of work.

Julie- 1# lost is excellent cause, a # of fat takes up more room than a # of muscle. have you taken your measurements yet??? i am taking mine first thing in the morning because the scale frustruates me. but, inches lost will make me feel good. i am going to weigh myself every two wks and measure one time per month and do neither the 4th week which i have planned will be when TOM is visiting. LOL you are doing a great job. im sure the soup will help cause my nurse midwife told me that if you eat clear broth soup or low cal soup (1cup) 20 min prior to ingesting a meal, it will make you feel fuller and you will naturally eat smaller portions. she also told me to eat all the foods i love but in smaller portions so that i do not feel deprived. which i have a hard time accepting because i have the all or nothing attitude which is very detrimental to a wt loss regimen. any way..... i have confidence that you will have a great week.

Jana-- congrats on the wt loss... you have done such a great job. you are truely an inspiration to all of the JL's.

marti, cristi and angie---- tom is the big day. ive got my tapes rewound and ready to push play LOL good luck to you three as well.

angie--- girl, the way you tell stories has been laughing so hard....i would have loved to have been there when you scared that drunk. and skittles with her baby... how funny is that....flushing the lamb down the pottie. you should write a book instead of reading them. im still cracking up...

well girlies, iam going to go. my youngest is needing me......did you see that i figured out how to do my siggy??? yay for me! lol

tj

Marti 08-15-2004 08:29 PM

Hello ladies--

Jhanai and I went to my grandpa's for some cherry tomatoes. Sat and visited him for a bit. Then we headed to Walmart to turn in a t-shirt that I didn't want and turned around and bought Jhanai a summer dress that was on discount! (yeah for clearance racks!!) Then off to the grocery store. We went through the WW cookbook and I had Jhanai pick something that she would want (kids can be very picky) and she chose the Veggies and Pasta. Very simple...only a few ingrediants...I can handle that. We also got some salad stuff to go with the tomatoes we got. Have any of you tried these WW cookbooks? 15 minute cookbook and 15 minutes & 5 Ingrediants Simple and not a whole lotta stuff going on!!

And that's the run down on my day! (not too exciting is it?)

Been feeling very dizzy today, not sure what's up. Trying to down water like there is no tomorrow. Ate breakfast AND lunch....I think it was the cup of coffee I had this morning. I have been trying to limit my coffee again so I don't rely on it too much and this morning it just sounded good. So I'm thinking that is what had me feeling woozy. BP is doing fine so it's not up or anything.

TJ: I'm looking forward to starting the execise challenge with you. Are you going to start a new thread and make it fresh?? And are we just going to report at the end of the week or report everyday what we've done so far? Jhanai and I are hooking up the VCR and are going to do pilates together. :D

Angie: As long as you feel you're in control of the situation then I guess everythings ok. If I were your partner you would have to be cleaning up your seets in your van! :o Glad to hear that Hurricane Charley is dying down. That should mean that you shouldn't have to worry about it for your vacation right? Oh...did I mention I got your postcard?? Beautiful, I bought one today with a purdy view that I will be mailing out to you tomorrow. So look for it sometime this week.

Julie: Somewhere on this site, there is a picture of FAT VS. MUSCLE and it shows the difference of what 5lbs of fat looks like next to 5lbs. of muscle. Once you see it, you will appreciate EVERY bit of pounds you lose. Even if it's just one. It will add up. What we need most is patience. Unfortunately a lot of us don't have that and we want results now. But just remember....we didn't get instantly overweight...that took time too. You're doing great so far, so don't let the one pound loss feel like a failure...celebrate it! We are all here cheering you on so smile and say Hurray with us!! :)

Hello to all you other gals out there!!! Stop in soon and let us know how you're doing....even just a "HI" would be great! :D

I better get going. I have some veggie cleaning to do. And since Angie mentioned she had 6 loads of laundry to do....I figured my one load that is sitting there isn't so bad and I'm going to do it. (Can't imagine 6 loads of laundry!!!!)

Take Care ladies

Jane 08-15-2004 10:32 PM

Hello ladies,

Susan - btw, I think the email the CG sent to you was so sweet! Glad you both are going slowly... did you find a less congested place to meet Tuesday?

Angie - OMG, the drunks would have scared the bejeebers outta me!! And your stories of Skittles are hilarious! If we ever do get together, you have to bring Skittles to the party! So when exactly are you leaving for vacation?

Cristi - did you happen to get a WW dinner at Applebee's? The only one I've had was the Tortilla Chicken Melt, and it was pretty good, but not worth the 10 points!

Julie - I'm one of those people who love soup all year long! the WW soup was instrumental in keeping me OP when I first joined WW. I had been used to great volumes of food, and I ate that until it just about came out my ears. I left out the zucchini and added the bagged angel hair cabbage instead. I like zucchini, but not like that. I also ate cans of green beans, sometimes not even warmed up, lol. Hey, Way To GO on the 1 pound down!!!

Marti - so is Jhanai feeling better? Hope so. Yes, I remember Nancy and think about her once in awhile. Really makes you wonder what happened, doesn't it? She seemed so comfortable with the group, and I find it hard to believe that she left of her own free will. But I also remember when Kayecee went to the mall and was gone for 3 months, lol.

TJ - plain old water is good to fill up on before a meal, too. Sounds like you've got a good plan going with the weigh-ins and the measuring. Having a plan is a good chunk of the battle! I have a weight loss scrapbook, and wonder if you'd want to start one, too?

I've had the laziest day! After Sunday dinner, I sat in the yard and enjoyed that. Had an unexpected visit from DS, and enjoyed that even more. Talked to a friend on the phone for the longest time and had some good laughs, then had a nap. All in all, it's been a good day.

Hope yours has been good, too. :)

tommysgirl18 08-15-2004 10:56 PM

Hello ladies…..how are you all doing?

Well, Brandon is now baptized and loving every minute of it. He loved being in church. He was laughing while the minister did his sermon. When I get the pictures from my sister and from our roll of film, then I will get them on his website as fast as I can. The lady’s circle from our church bought him a little book called “bless me.” It is a really cute book. The outfit just barely fit him, but it worked for about the hour that he was in it. The weather was perfect for it…..until about when everyone was leaving. Then we all had to run inside because it started to sprinkle a little bit.

He got some really cool gifts. He got tons of clothes! He got a sterling silver cross trinket box and it was engraved with his name, the words “God Bless” and the date of his baptism on it. He also got a yellow gold Figaro bracelet from one of his godmothers, just to name a few. Oh yeah…..the bracelet we have to take to Things Remembered, the store, and they will engrave it for us within 24 hours of taking it there.

Cristi~ That is so cool that you remember them! My mom is all over the place on the computer so it is hard to know which sites she is on and which ones she isn’t on. I love the sites!

TJ~ Thanks for reminding me.

I would also like everyone’s addresses/email addresses so I can send you guys stuff as well! You send me yours, and I will send you mine.

My birthday is in two days, hard to believe. And it looks like me and Brandon, and a couple of my sisters and their kids will be going to the zoo this weekend.

tommysgirl18 08-15-2004 10:57 PM

I forgot to check the instant email notification.

da fat n da furious 08-15-2004 11:30 PM

TJ you made me laugh all set with your tapes,,,just need to press play,,,feel like a checked flag should be out,,,ladies start your engines,,,brr brrr brrr and may be the best lady lose!
My plan is to walk around the football field for the 2 hours hes doing his practise. Infact I know I can convince some other mom's to do the same.
Marti, how is Jhania feeling? Don't like them summer flu bugs. You are welcome about the card...
well I ended up finding another load of laundry with the lacy curtains...they were gross. And I will do my bedroom ones tomorrow morning before I leave for work.
I better get to bed...
night all
Angie

tommysgirl18 08-15-2004 11:44 PM

Marti~ I hope Jhania starts to feel better soon!

Dolphin 08-16-2004 12:59 AM

Just checking in quickly before I go to bed. Spent the day with Grandma and her cookies. Yes that is her official title! Then spent 3-4 hrs this evening working on September schedules for work. Got them about done, but some day off, huh? At least it should free up some time during the week, I hope!

Anyway, I have to run off to bed, contacts are sticking in my eyes. Although I am off tomorrow, I have to get up and take Angel to the vet to have her teeth checked.

Sleep tight! Jen

Marti 08-16-2004 01:44 AM

Add me to the list of people wanting addresses.

Sue and Jen.....if you would like to share information I would greatly appreciate getting your addresses and e-mail. Give me a PM and I will exchange. But no pressures. I believe I have everyone elses.....I had to redo my address book and make sure. I made a list of just the Jaded Ladies, and I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

SqueakMouse 08-16-2004 05:18 AM

just a quicky

I just got some depressing news today and may not be back for a couple of days or so until I work it out.
My current job will not help me out while going to school and let me work part time. This means that I will have to start looking for another part time job somewhere. Which won't pay as much and I am already in financial trouble. I am just very upset right now and don't know what to do. It is hard to find part time work that pays enough. this job would have paid me 10.23/hr for part time work. Now I will probably only get minimum wage, if I can find anything at all, which will put me in the food stamps line or in a cardboard box on the corner. I am just so upset about this that I have an instant migraine and heart burn. I am holding in the tears until I get home. I would appreciate prayers sent my way and good vibes. I am at a loss of what i am going to do. Here I thought that my stress was all gone with getting a free 3357.00 for college, and then 7000 in students loans to pay back to live on. Now I am screwed and very upset. I just can't seem to get a break and just want to crawl into a hole and die. So I am going to cry for awhile and come back hopefully after calming down within a couple days. Hugs to everyone here and hope the next couple of days goes great for everyone else. :( :?:  :fr: :sp: :bb: :flame: :faint: :headache: :bomb: :hot: :tired: :crossed: :yikes: :^:

Jane 08-16-2004 09:36 AM

Happy Monday, Ladies!

Shanna - well, sweetie, it seems you are anything but happy. :( So sorry about your financial situation. Could you maybe talk to a school advisor about this? Sometimes they have a link to the work community that you may not know about. Regardless, things always do have a way of working out, and they will this time, too. Pray hard and be patient, ok? And prayers from Indiana are being sent your way!

Mindee - so glad the baptism went well. We'll all be happy to see the pics when you get them up. You already have my addy and I have yours.

Angie - good idea about you and the other moms walking around the football field! Time passes faster when you have a buddy doing it with you.

Jen - well, at least the scheduling is done. Like you said, that will lighten your load this week. My dogs all need their teeth cleaned, and I really should take care of that. The old one's teeth are in pitiful shape, and I don't want the younger ones' to get like that!

Hi to the others.

To those of you doing WW, I have heard that there will be 2 new programs offered next week, one of which does not involve counting points. Hmmm.... that's interesting! But since I have lost well with Flex Points, I may not change a thing! IMO, on any diet/lifestyle you have to count or measure something: points, exchanges, fats, carbs, servings or calories, lol. Anyway, when the "Core" program is known, then I'll decide.

My big plan for the day is to get the laundry done. Whoopee!- JK! Another sunny day here so the sheets can blow in the breeze outside. I have to shop for jeans soon because none I have fit me. YAY! But still, I hate shopping for them!

BBL,

Jane 08-16-2004 09:52 AM

Ladies, if you haven't already done so, would you please take the time to click on the survey listed under Announcement at the top of the main JL page? It would help keep the 3FC site free, and we all like that! It only takes a couple of minutes. TIA!!

FrouFrou 08-16-2004 10:34 AM

Hi and a good Monday morning to all~

I really shouldn't be on the computer since we are having thunderstorms-hate that lightning. But I figure a few mintues won't hurt. You ladies have gotten busy since yesterday, gee...just when I get caught up I am behind again.

Shanna~that just really sucks about the job and I am sorry to hear about it. Sending good vibes :goodvibes: :goodvibes: and many prayers your way. I just know everything will work out for the best for ya. Just stay positive, hold you head up and smile :D :grouphug:

Jana~no, didn't try any of the WW stuff at Applebees. Some of the salads looked good but they don't have the kind of dressing I like so I pass on their salads. I love honey mustard, but on salad??? YUCK! And I have tried their italian and house dressing, again-yuck.

Marti~I do remember Nancy and a few of the other ladies and often wonder what they are up and if they are fine. I do have a WW cookbook and have tried a few of the recipes, pretty good.

Angie~I definitely want to go on a 'stake-out' with you! I do hope theycan do something with Brandon's foot/feet. Poor guy shouldn't have to endure that much pain or have to take so much Advil.

Julie~CONGRAT'S on your loss! :bravo: Hey, a pound is better than nothing or lots better than a gain so WTG!

TJ~I am ready for the challenge. :)

Mindee~glad the baptism went well. And yes I remember them (Brent, Sena & Kim) I print out the pages with all the info and keep in a notebook and I try to send cards to all the kids through out the year. It just really saddens me when we lose one as some of the kids I have sent cards to for years and you always hope they find a miracle.

Jen~aren't most grandmas known for their cookies and baking/cooking in general? :) I remember that about my grandma, she was always baking or cooking something and sewing. I wish my kids had had the opportunity to get to know her.

Well, ladies today was WI and to my surprise I had a BIG loss!!!  I laugh because I don't know what is up with my scales but I got on and it said 98.6-yeah right! So got on again and this time said 96.5. Not sure what is going on as they were fine a few days ago. I picked them up to move them and clean them off Saturday when I was cleaning, to sweep and mop the floor-didn't drop them or anything so...may have to take them back and exchange them-just bought them a little while ago. So now I will have to wait to see what my weight is-bummer. It throws things off, well, kind of. Anyway...since cleaned over the weekend don't have much to do. Finally finished that book and started another, Kentucky Rich by Fern Michaels. Read 5 Chapters of it last night. Thought I would change from the last few mystery/FBI stories to something different for now. You ladies got me on this reading kick and now I am aiming to read a book a week. Anyway, going to vacuum today, get some exercise done, go to PT this afternoon and cook a nice dinner since V will actually be home. June the over-time usually starts full force and goes until Jan. so he isn't around much at all. Take care ladies and have a wonderful day.

Hi to everyone else!

FrouFrou 08-16-2004 11:22 AM

Jana~Went to the thread to take the survery and when I clicked continue it took me to a green page that said I 1) don't have cookies enabled, 2) just completed the survery and tried backing up, etc. or 3) I used up time alloted for the survery. My cookies are fine I checked just to be sure and didn't use up alloted time for the survery because never got to the survery to take it. I will try again later. Could be it is just busy with too many taking it maybe??? :dunno:

Happy Monday All

Well her I am at work again with some time to kill on my lunch hour so I'm gonna try to catch up on things with you all!!!

Mindee : So excited for Brandons baptism and your birthday!!!!

Jana : Thanks for the feedback on the WW soup... I had it for lunch
today and it came out pretty good!!! How much weight did you
lose following the soup alone?? A friend of mine gave me a copy
of the point system and I havent directly been following it to a tee
but Im using it as a guideline more or less to make sure Im coming
close to it!! But I know they say if you stay within your points,
you'll lose....

Marti : I checked out that picture on fat vs muscle... it put things in
perspective for me... You're absolutely right about needing that
patience, sometimes its hard to keep in mind that things dont
happen overnight.... just have to stick with it and know it will
be worth it in the end. Hope Jhanai is feeling better

SqueakMouse : Sorry, but I dont know if we've met yet or not.... But I
wanted to let you know I feel your pain.. I have been
working my full time job 6am-230 everyday and then doing
clinical at the hospital for school 3 nights a week from
3-11 after work. Working and school together just isnt easy.
I've had many teary days myself, cause it really is a big
sacrifice.. just dont let it get you down ..Things will work out
and one day you'll look back at this all and laugh.. cause in the
long run it will be worth it for you..so cheer up/.I know its easier
said than done..

Well hope all you other ladies are having a great day and I'll stop back in later

Julie :)

Good morning ladies!!

This is a quick one for now, but I will be back later to do my individuals.

James came home around 4:30 this morning, then had to leave at 10:00!! Not much time to see and visit with each other!! :( But we keep thinking that in a week, he'll get four days off, so that is what we're looking forward too.

Jhanai keeps saying "I'm sorry mom...I'm know you're sad" She is such a sweetie!! How did I get so lucky to have such a wonderful daughter?

Anyway...I'm going to go do my exercise challenge (and Jhanai want's to play her game before it expires) and then later on tonight I will pop in to do individuals!

Take Care and I'll BBL!!

Well, took my old girl Angel to the vet. I was hopeful that we finally had her teeth under control. But she has a few on the bottom on one side that are going to be pretty bad soon. So, we did blood work today to see if she is ok to handle anesthesia and have those pulled and the rest cleaned, whatever will be left. Pretty soon she will need kitty dentures! Poor old girl. On the bright side, we caught these before they got so bad that she couldn't eat and lost weight. If all is ok on her labs, looking at next week probably.

I also got one of the spare bedrooms partially shampooed. I'm waiting for the carpets to dry enough to move the bed to the other side and finish. I've got 2 fans, so it shouldn't take long.

Marti - How can James keep up with such an irratic schedule? I'm tired just thinking about it! Jhanai is a sweetie!

Julie - I remember those days of working and clinical or sitting in the classroom all day. I'm not sure which is worse! Believe it or not, you will be floored by how much you don't know when you get out of school! Makes you wonder what you did the whole time! You'll be done soon, won't you?

Cristi - You're down to 96.5? Wow, what plan are you on? Wrong or not, it's still fun to see! Someday I'm sure I'll miss my Grandma's cookies. Right now, I wish they would get off of my butt, hips, and thighs!

Jana - Glad you had a good time over the weekend. My brother lives in Champaign. I don't talk to him much, we never were close, can't say I even like him that much. We are just very different. Oh, I hate shopping for jeans. I can never find a pair that fits. Proportionately, my hips and thighs are bigger than my waist, so either they are skin tight on my butt and legs or gapping at the waist, or worse yet, both! UGH!

Shanna - Do what Mamma Jana says, get in touch with a school advisor. There may be grants or scholarships you don't know about. Who knows. Go find out.

Well, I suppose that's it for now. I have more stuff to do today. Of course. Don't we all!

Jen

Marti 08-16-2004 03:43 PM

Another quick one...

I got a call from my sister who lives in Florida...I was so glad she called because of all the Hurricane talk on the news. Her area was on Level C (what that means I don't know) and her and her family evacuated to go to Tampa....and instead of getting away from the Hurricane went right to it!! She was frightened to say the least and worried about if she would have a house to go back to. But her neighborhood didn't get touched and she probably would have been safer staying home!!

I told her that she needs to move back to Oregon...but she's spoiled now and loves the weather and can't see going back to all the rain Oregon has. But her husband may try for a job in Colorado....that would be closer.

I had to come in here and share the news that my sister was ok (even though I haven't talked about it, I have been worried like crazy!) And we talked for an hour. In fact, her and her youngest daughter we lounging by their pool!! Such is the life eh?

BBL!!

Marti 08-16-2004 05:10 PM

Hello Ladies--

Just can't keep me away today can you? :)

Jhanai is taking a nap so I thought I would take this moment to do my individuals.

Mindee--I hope you are able to post some photos soon of the baptism. Sounded so sweet. I can still remember Jhanai being a wee one!!

Angie--The idea of walking around the field during football is an excellent idea. Wonder if I can get Jhanai to join football? :D She is not into sports at all...try to get her to, but she prefers the singing and the plays. Rather act. So that's all good. She's looking forward to getting back into Choir.

Shanna--I am so sorry that the company won't work with you!! You do need to go to the advisor and explain to her what is happening. (if your advisor won't work with you find another one...I'll give you the name to mine if you need it) They are there to help you be able to go through school AND to help you find some job that will help you financially. I am keeping my fingers crossed, sending good vibes your way and praying for you that everything will turn out ok.

Jana--I am interested on how WW is going to change things that you don't have to count points. That is all I've ever heard about WW! You are having such GREAT results with what you're doing and I think you should stick with what you're doing. Unless of coarse it's something much easier and you can lose even more. But I am going to try my best and do what I can to follow half a**ed and see what happens. When I get more money then I may venture and follow it more carefully.

Cristi--Holy Cow!! Girl....you've lost too much weight!! :D I think if I saw that I would be dancing around naked in the house and have James look at me wondering what in the world has gotten into me and I'd just say..."I'm looking darn good for weighing only 96.5lbs!!" That is crazy since you just bought the scale recently!!

Julie--The photo is an eye opener isn't it? I sent it to my friend not to long ago, because he's been trying to lose weight....he's in his 50's and is wanting to be thinner than what he is. So I try to help. (if only I can take my own advice)

Jen--I have no idea how James handles his schedule! Most of the time he's sitting in the hotel room waiting for his call to go out. And some of the time, the train is deadheaded (or something like that) which means, they can't move until the next train passes them by. So they sit on the train. Bizarre. But he is on the extra board right now which means that he fills in for anyone who takes a day off....and he gets paid everyday no matter what! So he's been looking at the positive side of things. (he already has his "I want this" list!)

Thank you all for your get well wishes for Jhanai. She is went to my room this afternoon to take a nap and is still asleep. I went in there half an hour ago to check on her and she told me that she just doesn't feel good and would like to sleep a little longer. I told her ok but she'll need to get up soon to eat something and drink some fluids. Poor thing.....I hate seeing her feel bad. She's wanting to get better so her dad can take her to the county fair this week!!

I am doing laundry today. I managed to find a few loads to do......Angie...did you sneak over here and pile your stuff at my house? Then I plan on organizing my counter tops. I have one corner that is driving me crazy!! Near the phone where all my mail and other "papers" manage to find a home. Time to recycle and throw away some junk!! So that is on my agenda for the day.

I will check in later

Marti 08-16-2004 07:20 PM

Guess who?! :D

I just got a call from HR at OML. When he first talked to me he said something that I thought saying that the team didn't think I was a good canidate for the job! :( So I asked him if he would mind repeating what he said and he said that they all thought that I was a STRONG canidate for the job!! :)

I was shocked and said "Really? I was so nervous I didn't know what to think!" He told me I did fine and just needs some more information to mail out to him!! I think I got the job!! :D

Have no idea when it would all start but I'm happy. Idea's of saving money are reeling in my head!!

I just had to come in here and share my news! boy...what a load off my shoulders it is!

da fat n da furious 08-16-2004 07:33 PM

Good Evening

Hi Folks,
well Im heading to bed early tonight, but I wanted to check in first!!!

Jen : It's funny that you said how much you realize you dont even know
once you graduate!!! Sometimes now I feel like Im in left field
somewhere, which is the only bad part about having to work full time
while focusing on school work...I'm just too tired sometimes... I hope to
graduate the 1st of the year and I've been doing clinical since february
so far, so the end is kinda in sight!!

Marti : Congrats on the good news, I hope that you get it!!! What exactly is
the job for?? I think I missed that part somehow!!!

Cristi : I happened to catch your thread on books...Its funny because even
though I dont have much time for leisure reading, a friend at work
gave me " The Notebook" to read today. I have been hearing everyone
talk about the movie that's out now on...People say it's excellent, so
I Hope to start reading that tonight before bed... I'll let ya know..
Im into mysteries, and family stories...Not so much love tales!!! If you
happen upon anything that you just cant put down, let me in on it!!!

Well everybody, I'll catch up with you all sometime tomorrow, have a great
night and good luck making healthy choices!!!!!

Julie

Jane 08-16-2004 09:38 PM

Good evening, ladies,

Cristi - jeez louise, I have to have your diet secrets, lol!! About the survey snafu, I don't know why it would say that! At least you tried, and I thank you for that.

Julie - I didn't eat just the soup. I ate all my points and also ate the soup to help fill me up while I was getting used to the diet. I tailored it later to include a small amount of pasta, but then had to count it, of course. What I like about it is you can add the free veggies you like and leave out the ones you don't.

Jen - taking the right care of pets is expensive, isn't it? Do you have pet insurance? We don't, but I know others who do.

Marti - glad your sister is ok. My countertop area by the phone is the messiest place in my kitchen, too! I keep the kitchen table clean because we eat there together every night, but that one part of the counter gets way out of control, lol. Glad you are giving Jhanai lots of fluids - we don't want her to get dehydrated!

Well, I got interrupted by a looonnng phone call, so if anyone posted while I was writing this, hello to you, too!

Talk to you tomorrow...

tjmarco 08-16-2004 10:02 PM

wow- it took me an hour to read all the posts from the last time i posted which was last night at bedtime. lol
so hello everyone---
marti- as for the exercise challenge, i thought we could just continue on the same thread and rename it when it gets long like we do all the rest. i would be nice if we took the time to say that we exercised but not disclose how much so that it will be a huge surprise on sunday. lol im glad to hear that your sister in fl is well. that was scary. my hubbys brother lives there and so does my dads uncle and i was worried sick. yeah on the news about "might" getting the job. i am keeping my fingers crossed.

Jana-- i agree with the water before a meal too. but, the midwife said that the warmth of the soup does something too. i dunno. as for the wt loss scrapbook, i may do that, the only thing is, it wont be pretty. unless i mail it all to marti and have her fix it. lol
the surprise visit from ds sounds lovely.

mindee-- sounds like the baptism went really well.

angie-- great idea to walk while ds is doing the football thing. getting other mommies involved will be great for them too. lol plus, it will make the time fly.

shanna-- i hate to hear about your financial situation. try talking to your advisor like everyone else said and getting foodstamps is not the most horrible thing in the world. remember that everytime you get a paycheck and it says "tax deduction" on it, that money is used to fund state programs such as foodstamps, medicaid and clothing vouchers, etc. i wish i could get them. i would spend them proud. lol lots of veggies. hehe anyway, i will keep you in my thoughts and send good vibes your way as well.

well, i better go to bed so that i can get up and exercise in the morning.
hope everyone is doing well.
good nite.
tj

Marti 08-16-2004 10:06 PM

TJ--You just answered the question I had on the other thread. (I had to go back and edit since I did put how much time I put in) :dizzy:

Oh man!! Being interrupted as I type....I will be back later....

tjmarco 08-16-2004 10:09 PM

jana- did the survey!!!

marti- thanks for playing my little mind game. lol
