Hey ladies. It's weird, I look forward to going to work now that I have decent help! I have to wake up earlier and be in the office by 7:30 a.m. so it's been a good training week (for me) in preparation for when Michael starts kindergarten :yikes: next Tuesday. I don't have much time to post during the day as we only have the one computer and I don't want to be caught surfing too much as she might think it's okay for her to do when we get her computer going. Anyway, my hearts been feeling loads lighter and it's been a while! I'm not stressing so much so maybe it makes it easier to eat OP? I need to exercise still though....such little baby steps like taking the stairs and parking farther are the only things I've done so far :^:

Julie, glad I could make you laugh :D. My boy is a picky eater too. The only vegetables he'll eat are carrots and lettuce and usually only with Ranch dressing--Hidden Valley only and no other brand. I sneak in fresh spinach with spaghetti but if he sees any hint of green on his pasta he'll try and separate it. And yes he does gag when he tries new things. If you were to ask him he'd either pick a plain cheeseburger or chili with rice for dinner every day, and for lunch a tuna or egg salad sandwich . As long as your boy eats and is growing normally I wouldn't worry too much. I wonder if your son has any food allergies that cause him to throw up? My son throws up just because he eats too fast (must be watching mom and dad eat :ink: ). Hey I just read the governer here in HI just signed a bill for mandatory "Junior Kindergarten" if your child turns 5 after Aug. 1. It may be standard in other states but here it's news. Have you guys made a decision about your boy?

Angie I gotta say, lucky I live Hawaii--no snakes here *eek!!!* I had a shiver go down my back just reading your post. I did have Michael shove a baby toad in my face while I was trying to take a nap though  Hmmm, decisions decisions about the bakery. Yeah, I agree w/Julie, go with your gut feelings.

Holly, I have that Dr. Phil book but like Angie I don't think I've read anything I didn't already know, of course I didn't get past the second chapter so what do I know?...that must explain why I still carry this darn weight around!
Oh man that situation w/the baby must've been stressful. The baby's mom is lucky you were able to keep a cool head and call for help. Good job! Your scale only laughs huh? Mine groans under my weight ;) Sending some wishes for sun to come your way :sunny:

Hello to Summer and Kempy, give your doggies a hug from me (see i must be feeling good to be all lovey dovey touchy feely  )

See ya gals tomorrow.

GEMonster 07-16-2004 05:52 PM

Noelle so glad you have an assistant you like and is productive! No Tennis these past couple of days because all the rain so I did Yoga instead. I walked Fenway and we got caught in the rain - he wasn't sure if he should run to get out of it or enjoy the newly forming puddles  Wet Dog is not a new scent I intend to bottle anytime soon!

Julie I live with a husband who is the pickiest eater. Fresh Green Beans and French cut Green Beans tast different, didn't you know. Have Doctors check if DS has allergies? or missing so enzymes that help digest foods? You and you ds will be in my thoughts and prayers. Keep your chin up.

Angie how cool to see your cousin after a long time! I agree with Julie - go with your gut. Can you share a kitchen if you have it morning and early afternoon and the others have it late afternoon evening?

Holly I am glad you think quickly and calmly in those situations. Thank God you knew what it was and what to do. Where in NY are you?

Kempy how are you? I hope the payroll craziness is down and that you have relaxing weekend planned.

I am off to a b-day celebration dinner tonight. Skipping the highschool reunion :cp: - I like being MIA in regards to the High School crowd. Plus, Why give the DH more ammo? ;)

Have a wonderful weekend all.

melekalikimaka 07-16-2004 06:49 PM

TGIF!!! Hey ladies how are you all doing? I am so tired. I just had lunch and I guess the frenetic pace of the week has finally caught up with me . Anywho, just wanted to pop in and say hello. I'll be back later--gotta get back to work.

angieME 07-16-2004 07:30 PM

Hi all. Summer, I will never share a kitchen again with anyone. We did that with the inlaws for a few years and I am surprised anyone survived. I got so pissed at MIL once that I through some apple filled donuts at her. haha I cant stand that woman. I would rather have my own place like we do now. It is so much nicer to be the only one using any space.

I skipped my class reunion too. I had no desire to go see the snobby girls again.

Noelle, get some rest girl. Got any plans for the weekend?

Avril Laveigne(sp) is so cute. She reminds me so much of my little Alicia.

I guess we may go to Lincoln tomorrow to have a cl;oser looksy. Maybe we will visit my Mom for a while on the way too but that is about it for my weekend excitement. I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Good Eveining Girls

Just checking in on this lovely Friday night. I had a busy day with some running around to do. This morning my ds had recheck from being in the hospital. They still think it was some kind of virus, but good idea girls I will ask about food allergies at his physical in a couple of months. We had the nicest doctor (a woman) but we had to switch because of insurance and now we have a new one who I think is the sweetest doctor I ever met. He is such a kind man and not bad looking I might add. But anyway we just talked about his diet and such....I have been keeping a log for a week and he said it was healthier than some adults eat. So I don't feel so bad. Oh and I called an old girlfriend from highschool to wish her a happy birthday and got half the house dusted. Tomorrow is some major cleaning.

Summer I would like to look into Yoga. I heard it is great for relaxation and stress relieving. You know I skipped my class reunion this summer too. I just did not feel like going. I don't have contact with friends from hs anyway. No loss. Yes I do to hate the smell of wet dog. Thanks for the idea about missing digestive enzymes. I will mention that to doc when we go again. I hope you have fun going out tonight!

Angie that is so funny you threw donuts a MIL. She must be a real challenge to say the least ! Have fun on your drive tomorrow.

Noelle little one starts all ready? My gosh time flys by. I wish him luck and hope he loves it. We might send my little one and try it for two weeks or so. The teachers did agree with that. Other than that he is signed up for pre-school in the fall. What ever one I hope it works out. I am such a damn worrier. But I do not want him to pick up on it. God, I just wish I could get my son to eat chili or hamburgers, or tuna or egg salad. They will survive. I said to hus there are going to be so many phases before they turn 18!! Yeah I think his head is still stuck up there !!

Well bathtime! Have a great weekend girls.

melekalikimaka 07-16-2004 11:58 PM

Hi girls, I'm back again. This new girl is awesome, I love her . She totally complements what I lack in regards to running this place and vice versa so it's all good :crossed:. Remind me how I feel now, later on when I'm ready to ***** about her all day long one day...

Julie, yup my boy starts K next week. Orientation is tomorrow morning so we'll get to meet the teacher and get a feel for the layout of the school. Darn I'm getting teary eyed remembering giving birth to him :o where in the heck did time go??? Hmm, I remember good looking pediatricians when my son was an infant . I had to change doctors after my insurance changed--I got the almost-ready-to-retire-male-pattern-baldness grandfatherly-type pediatrician after that. In fact, he's now retiring so I may be on the hunt for a new hunky pedo doc

Summer, I skipped my 10th HS reunion too (5 years ago!!) --me and hubby were thinking about going but when the class secretary called our house and left a message about the function, I heard her voice and all those memories of why I never kept in touch with any of those people came flooding back :s
Hope you enjoyed your b-day dinner. Ammo for hubby? What are you trying to hide about your wild HS days from hubby? inquiring minds want to know  Hey, the food style (green bean) variance? I think that's a "Michael" thing , mine does that too

Angie I never figured you to be the donut-flinging type :D, but if she deserved it, oh well. Weekend plans? School orientation in the morning, kids carnival in the evening then Brunch on the Beach at Waikiki on Sunday :flow2:. If we ever get together here in Hawaii we can all go do brunch on the beach, it's nice and all the area restaurants including hotels have food booths. Ain't that ironic? We meet on a dieting support website and if one day we plan to meet we focus on a food gathering  :ink:

OK seriously gotta get out of this office, it's 6 pm... have a great weekend!!!

jbbm 07-17-2004 03:11 PM

HAPPY WEEKEND GIRLS

Well hus took the kids to his mom house to ride bikes, so after my ds being in hospital last weekend, and I was full of stress last weekend I am going to go throw on my suit and lay out for awhile. Ahhhh the sound of silence. Have a great Day everyone. I think we are going to grill steaks tonight? Bye for now....Julie

jbbm 07-17-2004 03:13 PM

btw, Noelle I love your quote

angieME 07-17-2004 03:45 PM

Here is a joke my aunt sent me. It is so true!!!

Jeff Foxworthy on Maine:

If you consider it a sport to gather your food by drilling through 36 inches of ice and sitting there all day hoping that the food will swim by, you might live in Maine.

If you're proud that your region makes the national news 96 nights each year because Moosehead Lake is the coldest spot in the nation, you might live in Maine.

If your local Dairy Queen is closed from September through May, you might live in Maine
If you instinctively walk like a penguin for six months out of the year, you might live in Maine.

If someone in a store offers you assistance, and they don't work there, you might live in Maine.

If your dad's suntan stops at a line curving around the middle of his forehead, you might live in Maine.

If you have worn shorts and a parka at the same time, you might live in Maine.

If your town has an equal number of bars and churches, you might live in Maine.

If you have had a lengthy telephone conversation with someone who dialed a wrong number, you might live in Maine.

YOU KNOW YOU ARE A TRUE MAINER WHEN:

1. "Vacation" means going South past Augusta for the weekend.

2. You measure distance in hours.

3. You know several people who have hit a deer more than once.

4. You often switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day and back again. (Ain't that the truth!!)

5. You can drive 65 mph through 2 feet of snow during a raging blizzard, without flinching.

6. You see people wearing camouflage at social events (including weddings).

7. You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked. (Not anymore if you're smart)

8. You carry jumper cables in your car and your girlfriend / wife knows how to use them.

9. You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.

10. Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.

11. You know all 4 seasons: almost winter, winter, still winter and road construction. (Oh, for sure.)

12. You can identify a southern or eastern accent.

13. Your idea of creative landscaping is a statue of a deer next to your blue spruce.

14. You were unaware that there is a legal drinking age.

15. Down South to you means Augusta.

16. A brat is something you eat.

17. Your neighbor throws a party to celebrate his new shed.

18. You go out to fish fry every Friday.

19. Your 4th of July picnic was moved indoors due to frost.

20. You have more miles on your snow blower than your car.

21. You find 0 degrees "a little chilly."

22. You actually understand these jokes, and you forward them to all your Maine friends.

Sad....but true!!!

We went to Lincoln today and what a mistake that was. haha They were having thier 175th celebration and we got into town just in time for the parade that took about an hour to go through town. Plus Main street was swamped with people so needless to say we didnt get much accomplished.

melekalikimaka 07-17-2004 07:07 PM

Julie, enjoy your time alone!!! Hope there is sun for you to enjoy.

Angie, at least you got to see a parade right? Well, maybe another trip another time can show you what the town is all about. Thanks for the funnies.

It's a hot one here today, weather channel says it's 89 but feels like 92. The orientation went great and we got to see Michael's new classroom and teacher. Then we had to sit in the church for a 45 min lecture from the principal about what the school's goals were :blah:. When we wanted to leave another car was parked behind us so we couldn't get out. Had to wait about 40 minutes for that other inconsiderate driver to come back. Needless to say I had some words with the lady and she didn't even apologize! I must have come off pretty *****y because all she did was avert her eyes from mine while I told her off about blocking us in. Rick had to go to work and I didn't want him to be late. With my luck, her kids will probably be in Michael's class and I'll have to see her again

My sis took Michael to her house to play so I'm all by my lonesome. Think i'll go take a nap  Have a great weekend everyone.

chikitababe 07-17-2004 08:55 PM

Ugh...I typed this nice long post earlier, hit submit, and it disappeared. Today makes my 6th day OP. This is the longest I have ever made it OP, sad, I know. I did have a dessert tonight, but, it was orange and vanilla yogurt. Somehow I managed to go from 180 (day I delivered my youngest), to 142.5 (current weight) through exercise and skipping junk here and there. I really have no idea what I would weigh if my activity level remained the same, and I continued to omit junk food.

Angie,

Funny jokes  . I hate snakes :p. I stepped on a snake when I was a kid and about lost my mind!! My 10 yr high school reunion is next year. I am not planning on going either. I really don't miss the bi :censored:hy girls.

Noelle,

Glad to hear you have some help in the office! I told my husband how great it would be to live in Hawaii where it never snows, and the temperature is fairly steady year round. He said, you wouldn't live there would you? I said sure, you pay taxes anywhere you live  . He said, well, find me a good union plumbing job in Hawaii, and we'll move there. I said, yea, ok. He was serious! In reality, I don't want to move far away from my mother. She is 71 and in pretty fragile health. The doctor gives her 2-5 years to live. I want to spend as much time as I can with her. So, maybe down the road.

Summer,

We live in a town about 1 hour north west of Sayre, PA. It's about 30 mins. from Owego, 1 hour in the other direction from Binghamton. My husband is such a picky eater too. He will not eat canned vegetables, and says they are tasteless if frozen.

Hi to Julie, Kempy, anyone else I missed! Hope you are having a great weekend.

Holly

melekalikimaka 07-17-2004 09:43 PM

Holly I think you're doing great. The fact that your weight has been pretty steady and not yo-yoing dramatically (like mine) since we all started posting here is admirable :cp:. Gosh, we're not a union shop but we do need a skilled and reliable plumber! That would be pretty neat if you were able to move here. I totally understand about wanting to stay near your mom though. There's no one like mom no matter if they can drive you batty sometimes. If you one day do decide to make the big move into my neck of the woods, give me a shout--like I said, we're always in need of good plumbers. My hubby is a great plumber but he prefers doing the renovations and remodels instead of repipes and service repairs--my goodness, he's turned into the primadonna plumber he always talks about .

jbbm 07-17-2004 10:23 PM

Good Night Girls

Angie that is so funny! The 1-22 is what people think we are all like where I live. I do know what a brat (eat em a couple times a month ) is, and every Friday is a fish fry night ! Sounds alot like WI.

Noelle glad the orentation went well. But a what a pain in the butt with the being stuck and not being able to get out. And the lady could have said I am sorry. Some people just do not have any manners or respect anymore these days. It was nice to lay out, about 20 minutes after being out they returned , oh well I love em. I hope you enjoyed your alone time also, naps can do wonders sometimes!

Holly I would love to move by Noelle too. I hate winter also. I get the blues so bad being stuck inside. I know what ya mean. I think you are doing great staying OP. Good choice for dessert. Fiber and protein, to fill your tummy up!

Hi Kempy, Summer and everyone! I am going to pick up this place and try to get to bed earlier, you guys are probally sick of me saying that :^: !! I will try and check in tomorrow. Bye for now.

angieME 07-18-2004 09:28 AM

Good Morning girls. Noelle, I am watching Girl Meets Hawaii on the travel channel right now and it is so pretty there. I love the palm trees the most.... and maybe the ocean views.... and maybe the lush greenery....

I am going to try AGAIN this week to stick with some sort of eating plan. I am so huge it is disgusting!!! I am up so much that it physically makes me sick. This time last year I weighed 145 pounds and now I am hitting 200!!! :yikes: I wonder if I will ever get a grip on my eating disorder. I dont care what anyone says you CAN be addicted to food and I definately am.

It has been so sticky here for about a week now and it is so hard to force myself to go into the bakery and start that big oven. YUCK!! I just realized that I probably come off as a really negative person judging by my posts, huh? I am really not though.

We stopped at my Moms yesterday on our way back from Lincoln and Alicia went out to the pool and BOOM found a nice big green snake. It looked like it had just eaten because he was all lumpy. I would not ever go out to the pool at her house.

We watched the Butterfly Effect last night and it was such a good movie. I wanted to beat the kid when he killed the dog though.

Julie, I am glad you got some quiet time yesterday. I would have loved some. haha my kids fought ALL day long.

Holly, You have done a great job. You should be very proud of yourself.

Noelle, School already? Damn Hawaii ROCKS!!!!!! It has the best of everything. Long school times and beautiful weather.

melekalikimaka 07-18-2004 11:55 AM

Good morning ladies :coffee:. It's been a great weekend so far. We hit the Kakaako Carnival and Food Festival last night. My sis gave Michael a free ticket for unlimited rides so he made out. He must've went through the Funhouse (the one where the floor moves and the kids go through all sorts of contraptions) at least 7 times. He's getting braver too, riding the big Wave Swinger and the Pharaoh's Fury pendulum swing thing. He says the Ferris Wheel is too boring . Played loads of games (I suck big time) and Rick and Michael won a lot of prizes...yea, more clutter for my house. We're heading to the Brunch on the Beach this morning w/my mom, dad, couple of my sisters and Rosie, the white poodle we're babysitting for my sister's boss. Should be a fun day. If it seems like I'm having a lot of fun this weekend, it's only because Rick was off island last weekend so I'm making up for lost time. I usually just lay around the house on Sunday in my pajama's all day .

Angie, sounds like your daughter may have a career as a herpetologist. Yikes, I still can't imagine snakes in my backyard. Scorpions and centipedes no problem, but snakes *shudder*. Has your mom ever found any in the pool? That would be too much for me. Hey girl, you can do this diet thing, I know you can. Just do it one step at a time.

Julie, Holly, Summer, Kempy and Cal hope everyone has a peaceful, restful Sunday. Have a good one
